Today’s matchup between the Broncos and Raiders will feature a pair of Heisman trophy winners as the starting quarterbacks for both squads.
Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow won the 2007 Heisman trophy as a sophomore at the University of Florida, while Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer won the award in 2002, as a senior at the University of Southern California.
It’s the first game featuring Heisman-winning starting quarterback since Dec. 26, 2010 when Sam Bradford and Troy Smith faced one another as members of the Rams and 49ers, respectively. It is the seventh time since 2000 that a pair of Heisman-trophy winning quarterbacks started in the same NFL game.
