As you make your way to Sports Authority Field at Mile High for this Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Broncos are encouraging fans to arrive a little earlier.
Last week, the NFL recommended enhanced security procedures at the stadium gates, which will increase the comfort and safety of fans at the game, but also might require additional time for inspection upon entering the stadium.
So if you’re headed to the game, be sure to come a little earlier than you have in the past.

Shoot it’s only 9:00 PM MT,I’ve been drinking since 3:00 MT……5:00 EST,I better lay low for a while!!!!

game prediction denver 24 bengals 17
Tonight midnight blog time is the deadline for your score prediction, no exception.
strand seems as if your concerns yesterday were correct, a player will have to be put on waivers in order to activate Johnson, it’s not as simple as rbf1 stated, the reason being they are indeed 53 players on the roster and 46 actives, but when you bring in someone OUTSIDE the 53 man roster, like from the PS, you must make room for him:
Moreno will be re-evaluated this morning, but his prospects were so grim that practice-squad running back Jeremiah Johnson has already been informed he will be promoted to the active roster by 2 p.m. today. To make room for Johnson, the Broncos will have to make a corresponding roster move by probably placing a player on waivers.
This looks like the final word on tomorrow injury wise:
Besides Moreno out, cornerback Champ Bailey (hamstring) and defensive end Elvis Dumervil (shoulder) missed their third consecutive practice Friday and are not expected to play, even if they are all officially listed as “questionable” on the injury report.
The Broncos are more hopeful that receiver Brandon Lloyd (groin) can play after he practiced on a limited basis Friday. Defensive tackle Ryan McBean missed practice Friday because of personal reasons but is expected to play Sunday.
Of course to that you can add Warren, Marcus Thomas, DJ and Demaryius out.
Cassius Vaughn would likely replace Bailey as the starting left cornerback, and Jonathan Wilhite would likely play the nickel. Jason Hunter and Derrick Harvey would likely replace Dumervil.
Defensive end Robert Ayers was fined $7,500 for his unnecessary roughness penalty Monday against the Raiders. Ayers grabbed Darren McFadden by the helmet and nearly gave the Raiders’ running back whiplash.
He didn’t whiplash it enough obviously, LOL.
Legwold about the Bengals game:
There was a time when some folks believed the Broncos, riding the wave of newfound enthusiasm in training camp, would be able to open with a 3-0 record before they got to the meat of their schedule.
Talk about a reset.
The Bengals come to Denver for Sunday’s affair feeling pretty good about themselves and with the profile of a team that can give the Broncos much the same problems the Raiders did. Here’s why:
The Bengals can run the ball — Cedric Benson finished with 121 yards rushing in the Bengals’ opener — and have invested heavily in what is a homegrown offensive line, with four draft picks among the five starters and one undrafted free agent who was signed by the team.
The Bengals also face the likes of the Steelers and Ravens four times a year, so Cincy will not hesitate to pound away at the Broncos.
The Bengals are active up front on defense and have plenty of size, right down to a 260-pound middle linebacker Rey Maualuga. They have 6-foot-5 Manny Lawson, a former first-round pick by the 49ers, playing at outside linebacker, and 6-7 Michael Johnson and 6-6 Carlos Dunlap in the rotation at defensive end.
The Cincinnati secondary has three players among the four starters who were first-round draft picks. Leon Hall, just re-signed by the Bengals to a big contract extension, was a Bengals pick, Nate Clements was a Buffalo first-rounder and safety Reggie Nelson was a Jaguars’ first-round pick.
The Bengals have some speed and athleticism in the group, so the Broncos could struggle if they can’t run the ball well enough to get at least one of the safeties out of coverage and up toward the line of scrimmage.
The Bengals are — gulp here if you are a Broncos fan — the far more settled team at the moment. Several personnel executives in the league are quick to say the Bengals have more depth, are far healthier and will arrive confident they can leave with a win.
And about fans circling “sure” wins on the schedule:
And given how things have unfolded thus far, the Broncos faithful may not be able to circle anyone on the schedule right now. That is because the Broncos, as they try to heal and regain their balance, are now the ones with the circles drawn around them.
Sounds like we are everyone’s shooting target.
We are probably gonna get owned. Benson can run it. And he doesn’t only run outside, he can pound it inside as well. And lets face it, Champs ankle tackles saved alot of big runs last game. No one can tackles like him …. and I mean that for all positions not just CB. He may not put a hit stick on but when he gets your legs u are done. He saved alot of big runs last game … most CBs like to just throw themselves at the legs of the runners which doesn’t always work. We got our hands full. Our only saving grace is a rookie QB …. assuming they even bother to pass while they are running it down our throats. This is gonna be a long and hard one ladies and gentlement. TRB
Kiszla has a go at it for Fox and Co.:
They act more like Kittens than Broncos. The local NFL team plays cuddly soft.
Wasn’t new coach John Fox supposed to stop these guys from getting bullied?
Until Denver toughens up, it doesn’t really matter if the starting quarterback is Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow or Andrew Luck.
“We’ve got to run the football more,” Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy said this week.
So prove it.
But, first, it might be time to admit that Knowshon Moreno is no more than a third-down back, capable of inflicting damage on a defense primarily by catching passes.
Is Willis McGahee, a 29-year- old veteran who has averaged barely more than 125 rushing attempts during his most recent three full seasons, ready to step up and carry the load 20 times per game for the Broncos? Let’s hope so. If not, then Broncos executives John Elway and Brian Xanders failed to properly address one of the team’s obvious needs before it was too late.
Yeah, I always said we failed to address DTs AND RBs adequately but most bloggers said we’re fine at RB with Moreno and McGahee, when will folks realize that Moreno can’t be counted on, probably not until he is out of here is my guess…
Sure, it’s harsh to call a football team soft. My apologies to safety Brian Dawkins and a handful of other Denver teammates who would rather chew razors than utter the word surrender. After the disheartening loss to Oakland, however, it was star cornerback Champ Bailey, not I, who questioned the attitude, heart and desire of the Broncos. Go ahead. You argue with Bailey, if need be.
Funny, Kiszla uses Bailey to back up his opinions just like I did, it carries weight that way, at least it should.
And Kiz goes on:
I want to examine the team’s weak stab at establishing an offensive philosophy. Seldom in the past 25 years have the Broncos entered a game with such a tentative, weak-willed offensive approach. It was as if Denver coaches knew in advance they couldn’t run against the Raiders, yet began four of the team’s opening six possessions with a handoff to Moreno or McGahee, just to confirm all their worst fears.
The results? Four rushes. Four yards. One fumble. After adding up the damage inflicted to the team psyche, the Broncos went straight to panic mode.
To be fair, maybe it takes time for a new coach to establish his team’s identity. But, so far, Fox looks like a man stuck with so many players from Josh McDaniels’ regime that he doesn’t know where to turn to hand the football.
Fox, who built a reputation by rushing the rock, is the not-so-proud owner of the 32nd-ranked running attack in a 32-team league. Yes, it was only one ugly night in the rain.
But you don’t need to review the game video frame by frame to know what grade Denver center J.D. Walton and guard Zane Beadles deserved for their run-blocking against the Raiders. Let’s be generous. Call it a D-.
If the interior of the offensive line couldn’t budge Oakland defensive tackle Richard Seymour, then how badly will the Broncos be manhandled when Ndamukong Suh shows up with Detroit later in the season?
The Raiders showed their contempt for Denver’s offensive toughness and Orton’s passing ability by sometimes employing a defense with five down linemen. Karl Mecklenburg, a linebacker honored in the Ring of Fame, told me it’s a defensive front you normally see against an offense that runs the option. Jay Leeuwenburg, an offensive lineman who played nine seasons in the NFL, said he saw Brett Favre take less than a series to begin carving up a five-man front when Chicago tried the same defensive gimmick against Green Bay years ago.
Yeah, I never liked Favre but Orton is no Favre, not even Dilfer, not in pressure situations making the right decisions anyway, so we better get that running game going as we always knew or other teams are gonna make minced meat out of us. Suh…. no wonder I picked us to lose the Detroit game!
And worse of all, tomorrow is the first chance to see what our backups can do at some key positions in regular season, and we all remember how that went in preseason at the Cardinals. Every given Sunday is all I got so far.
Bay, looks like the whole Denver staff over-ratteed their talent and under-rated their weaknesses right from the get-go. Apparently, nobody watches film very closely or they would have seen exactly the same things from last years’ tapes on offense they saw in the first game. Thee D looked better but will have a problem holding up for the entire season, not enough depth and too much time on the field. Wonder if any lessons were learned for next year!
I doubt it because, contrary to belief, there are those that insist on doing it “their” way, ir-regardless if it is the best way or not. It is rapidly becoming ‘my way or the highway’ sort of attitude I think. I mean, when the you don’t care about the fans, what is left? I just wonder what they would care about if those fans were not in the stands on Sunday? Think they would start caring about the fans some then?
How long ago was it that Denver had one of the highest rated running games into which you could introduce almost any running back and they would do well? Interesting that this was lost when Bowlen sacked Shanny and we now wished we had him back. Who were those fans who wanted to get rid of him?
I thought some player had to be cut to make room for JJ.
My bad strand… thanks for clarifcation bay.
GO CINCY!!! It’s like being in jail and marking X’s on a calender. How many losses until we are rid of the pathetically lame Orton. The guy that still gets support despite being on a 5-19 streak. Let’s hope the streak continues!!! Let’s hope the Cincy’s defensive coordinator man’s up and brings some pressure to the QB. When your team is completely insane, you must hope that they lose so it will force the coach (who has absolutely no guts.. and didn’t like STEVE YOUNG) to make a move. If we win all it does is extend the madness one more game. I have had over 2 years of this stupidity, enough already. The dude had 2 lead feet and can’t complete a freakin screen pass. ENOUGH ALREADY.. I will continue to be the voice of sanity in this p/c 1984 world of group think. Orton stinks.. Stop cheering for a loser QB with a smirk. One loss down… PLEASE CINCY DROP A 30 point game on us!!!! AND PLEASE ALWAYS rush at least 4 down lineman.. NEXT WEEK GO TITANS!!!!
Armadillo, that just makes no sense. Wishing for the opposing team to drop 30 points? That my friend would be on the defense. How would replacing Orton cure what ails our defense? How would replacing anybody on offense help our defense?
Heck, not having Champ, Elvis, DJ, Marcus Thomas and Ty Warren will be a tall task to replace on anybodies defense.
You want our team to lose? Just so 1 guy can play?
You may want to go jump on New England or Green Bays bandwagon. We will always have the room for you to hop back on when we start winning again!!!!
I been seeing a lot of ads from Directv saying that new suscribers get NFL Sunday Ticket for free. To me that says the number of Pro football fans who are not buying any NFL stuff including NFL Sunday Ticket is substantial. So, I called Directv, my current sattelite provider, and told tem that if they could give NFL Sunday Ticket to new subscribers for free, that they could give me a good deal. Bottom line is that I got NFL Sunday Tiocket for about half price. I might have been able to haggle a little getter deal, but I was okay with their offer.
Looking forward to Sundays game.
Nobody said the Broncos have the smartest fans in the NFL, all you have to do it read this blog for proof. LOL
Thanks for the tip oldsouth.
What price were you able to get it for if you don’t mind me asking.
Is half price $150.00?
Are you trying to be cynical or make yourself look smarter than the average bear….lol!
@ oldsouthstander…. one of my buddies did the same thing, except he acted all irate with their customer service folks and told them it was crap they offered that deal to new customers, but did nothing to reward their current loyal customers. long story short, he told them if they didnt give him the same deal he was canceling his service. they offered him several deals at lower rates but eventually he did get it for free! I had planned on doing the same before i realized i didnt really care to watch anyone but the broncos anyway, which are on my local channels, so i didnt bother!
. . . just too many injuries (new strength and conditioning coach please!!) and we cant stop the run up the gut so i see a similiar game to week 1. my prediction: 24-17 bengals….. its a sad day for me here!!
now onto my prediction…. i dont think ive ever done this before but im going to predict us to lose . . . .
here is to hoping im wrong!
GO BRONCOS!!
OFFENSE WINS GAMES, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
“THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES”
No chance = same results (which stink) .. Chance = a chance to see Quinn (Tebow) either pass or fail.. If pass great… If fail then we draft Luck/Barkely and complete Elway’s three year plan.. If orton plays the whole year. we do not know about Quinn/Tebow and makes our 1st round decision harder. If Quinn/Tebow can play then we draft a lineman (or an AL WILSON CLONE). It’s is crystal clear… Lame teams (like Miami) keep rolling out average QB’s and then finish 6-10 to 9-7. Which keeps you from getting the stub young QB’s, which keeps your wheels spinning in mediocrity. If you go 8-8 then you have to give up the farm for a chance of Luck/Barkely. And if Barkley/Luck fail then you are severely set back (due to the loss of draft picks)…. It is a blue-print that is time tested.. Enough with the “orton gives us the best chance to win b/s.. We need a guy that can move in the pocket, so as to help our marginal o-line. Heck I would be excited to see WEBER start on Sunday instead of a lame Orton in the last year of his contract. Anyone tell me what benifit does rolling out a lame Orton do to help our team. HELLO.. CAN ANYONE THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!!!! (the box of mediocrity, filled with the corpses of failed coaches)
yes I have no brain.. I meant no change = same results.. change = a chance to see Quinn (Tebow)…. GOOSE FRABBA…..GOOSE FRABBA… Gulp, Gulp, GULP.. AH yes, a little afternoon brandy w/prozac helps… Ok go broncos!!! Hurray for Orton!!
Sorry Bay but I predict 27-10 Bengal’s win. I wish not but not hopeful.
