On Friday the Broncos’ injury report revealed right tackle Ryan Harris will be out with an ankle injury for Sunday’s game at Jacksonville.
According to the depth chart, rookie Zane Beadles is behind Harris, but Head Coach Josh McDaniels did not announce who would replace Harris in the starting lineup.
Safety Darcel McBath is also ruled out for Sunday with a forearm injury. Neither Harris nor McBath participated in practice this week. The team’s No. 1 draft choice, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (foot), and running back Andre Brown (toe) were ruled questionable, and tight end Daniel Graham (chest) and running back Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) are probable.
For the Jaguars, kick returner Scotty McGee (shoulder) and wide receiver Jarett (thumb) Dillard are out, and running back Deji Karim (thumb) is questionable.
POTENT PRACTICES
Practice intensity spikes when the team’s record is on the line.
On Friday, veteran safety Renaldo Hill spoke about ramping up the pep in practice for the squad’s season opener at Jacksonville on Sunday.
“I thought everybody was on board,” Hill said. “I think everyone knows that the season is here — just the attention and focus that everyone had — you could see at practice.”
The team suited up in full pads for two days this week, focusing on employing and defending against a physical ground game. When they weren’t in pads, the Broncos wore shells for walk-throughs as the coaches emphasized executing the game plan and maintaining a top-flight tempo.
“We had good week of practice mentally,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels said. “I think they know what we need to do, and let’s get the butterflies out of us in the first quarter and play for four quarters.”
The team has been knocking back plenty of fluids to protect it from the swamp sun. The idea is to keep players on the field with a mouthpiece in between their teeth instead of on the sideline with an IV in their arms.
Hydrating constantly hasn’t quenched the thirst for competition that counts in the standings.
“I can read our team in terms of how they’re going to try to play the game, and I think they’re going to give great effort,” McDaniels said. “I don’t think that will be a problem for any team on opening day.”
Brandon Lloyd has his own strategy to keep calm as the Week 1 adrenaline hits him.
“Just remember to breathe. That’s the key,” he said with a laugh. “It’s magical — the kickoff weekend and the flyover and just everything — the pageantry of opening week in the NFL is special.”

How many buds you had already BFE lol. We need Harris to get healthy and come back soon but whoever fills in should hold their own
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81a695a3/article/report-team-working-on-4year-contract-extension-for-bailey?module=HP_headlines !!! =)
I hope they sit Thomas because that foot has been a problem for a long time. They should give him another week so they’re sure he’s 110% healed. And i wonder who will get the bulk of the carries? Moreno or Buck?
sunday is almost here!!! I hope they can all perform for 60 minutes of football in that humit. We can beat these guys I know we can.
Hey BRONCO FANS!! I don’t think I could ever be more excited or happy for Sunday!! the BRONCOS road to Super bowl starts!! “a little wishful thinking” lol hopefully anyway. : ) But i’ll be there to support the opener in Jacksonville cause I only live an hour and a half from there. and I really hope to see many more bronco fans there cause the odds are against me. but like it or not i’m going to show full pride in the orange and blue!!
GO BRONCOS!!
LETS GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOOOOO PUMPED UP FOR THE SEASON TO START!!!!!!!!!!!!
broncos will take this game!!!!!!!!!!
Hey manny you are a little worried now? Thinking humidity? Did you read my weather report in the previous cheerleader blog? Where has your “the first challenge this year is the Colts” attitude gone? Just kidding with you, but a good way to look out for a season is one game at a time, and this one has never been one to be overlooked, glad you are starting to come around, we will have our hands full down there, hang in there.
This is great to see the fans are so confident and here is to hoping the players and coaches aren’t thinking this is going to be the cake walk the fans do.
Vegas lines have Jacksonville as a favorite by 3.5 points. Broncos need to crush them in order to gain a little respect. But then again, no matter how much the Broncos win by, outsiders will just point out how lowly the Jags really are. That’s why they need a win margin by three TDs. Let’s do it.
Go Broncos!!!
broncoholic19, I like your attitude, and you will definitely see a bunch of orange and blue down there. But it won’t be Broncos colors, it’ll be Gators orange and blue. Guarantee there are 10,000 Tebow jerseys at the game, college and pro
With Tebow a Jacksonville native and Gator, you are right, there probably will be more college jerseys than NFL ones, since few folks in Jacksonville ever buy Jaguars jerseys, LOL.
I say McDaniel’s knows there are lots of gator fans in the stands so he uses Tebow to take away the home field advantage from Jacksonville. I think the Broncos suprise a lot of people this year. When the players buy into what the coach is selling them good things usually happen. This team believes! Go Broncos!
Hey! We’re 3 point UNDER dogs, the Broncos have their hands full with this one, they need all the support they can get.I of course will take the money line and get +120 if as I hope my team wins.Way to go Broncoholic yell for all of us who will be there in spirit if not in body. I will yell at the TV screen(maybe a Bronco bar in Vegas as this can’t be on TV) or my monitor a 2×2 computer feed.GO BRONCOS!!!!!
A reminder for the ones who might not know, tomorrow is the deadline to place your regular season record prediction for our Broncos, a little friendly game we are doing before doing the game score predictions each week starting next week just like last year. Already 50 bloggers have made a prediction, one prediction only, no in betweens.
bay.. did you write down mine ;p??? 11-5 (:
lol no one buys jaguar jerseys, thats why their games are always blacked out. everone told em to take tebow, hometown kid with an aura that draws excitement and potential to be good but nooooooooo lol. Maybe we just beat em to it. But they shoulda been wiser, gerard is far from the future lol. Good for us tho lol
As far as Harris goes, why i wanted starters to forgo the 4th game. they had already played the majority of the 3rd game but McD had something else in mind and here we are. No need crying of spilt milk tho. Guess Beadles gets left guard and maybe daniels RT. Who knows. Go Broncos. TRB out…
that’s the way I see it too bay. One game at a time in this game maybe even one qtr at a time. But mock my words we win this game because of orton and ST.
60 MINUTES OF FOOTBALL GO BRONCOS!!!
You mean mark my words, because I wouldn’t want to mock your words, wouldn’t be very nice of me.
Mex yeah, got yours.
TRB, “nobody buys Jaguar jerseys”????
Well I once knew a guy who had a neibor whos’s son-in-law was going to spring break in Ft lauderdale and he said his roomates cousins girlfriend bought a jaguar jersey at a beach party for three bucks….But, they were drunk, so I’m not sure if the story is true….
kddn
lmao, sounds like a rumor to me, to many people involved for the story to be accurate, plus they were drunk? yup definitely not believable, NOT UNLESS they were using the Jersey as a beach blanket cuz you neighbors son in laws roomates cousins girlfriend thought your neighbors son in laws roomates cousin would bring the blankets and no one did. Im sure that makes sense
lol
Hey, FTR, if you’re out there somewhere in the blogoshpere…
CONGRATS ON YOUR NEWEST MEMBER OF THE BRONCO FAMILY!!!!
Way to go!! BRONCO PAPA!!!!
BRONC ON FTR!!!
I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS FAMILY!!!!
The Jags are gonna be tough. lets not forget they came in to our house two years ago i think it was and manhandled us. they are tough and we HAVE to match their physicality. If we cant lets just say its gonna be a long day
could be 9-7 this year. but heII, i’m feelin 10-6
WHY IS NO ONE ELSE ECSTATIC About the bailey news!? Woooooo Thats good stuff.
bronco-blaze,
I’m glad you brought that up. I was just scanning through the comments to see if anyone had mentioned Bailey yet. I for one am EXTREMELY excited to hear the front office is having contract talks with Bailey’s agent! Bill Williamson, the AFC West Blogger on ESPN.com makes it sound like a bleak situation since they aren’t close on an agreement yet. But that doesn’t make sense because these things always take a couple of weeks. But hey, at least they’re starting the talks finally. That’s the first step. It’s no longer a matter of if, but when the agreement is reached. YES!!!
As for Sunday’s game, I agree Jacksonville cannot be overlooked. They are very well coached and always bring physicality to the game. But then again, no one on their roster scares me except me maybe Jones-Drew. So I say we win a defensive struggle 16-10 to kick off a 10-6 season.
Book that prediction Bay, I say 10-6 and a wildcard birth. Whew, got my prediction in last minute lol.
my prediction broncos 17 jags 14
blaze and magic, the discussion about Bailey’s contract started yesterday at 6:49 am on the Clady ready to play blog, it’s just that some bloggers are here so often, they grab the headlines as soon as they come out, or try to, so you come on 17 hours later and it’s already old news, gotta blame the speed of today’s information network for that.
And got your prediction down magic.
Actually, the season prediction record deadline is through today until midnight. So place your season record pick! 53 entries and counting…
This is a word of warning brought to you courtesy of Mike Klis for the guys here like magic who think the only guy worthy of hurting us tomorrow is MJD:
I know fantasy players love Jacksonville RB Maurice Jones-Drew and hate Jaguars’ QB David Garrard. But in the real football world that is played between the lines, Garrard is the guy the Broncos have to stop if they are to win the opener Sunday at Jacksonville.
The Broncos and Jags have played twice in the previous three years. Each game was at Invesco Field and each time the Broncos were off to a terrific start.
And Garrard won both games. In 2008, the Broncos were 4-1 when the Jags came to town. Garrard completed 25 of 34 for 276 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and used his legs to convert a third-and-1.
In 2007, the Broncos were 2-0 until Jacksonville came into Invesco. Garrard was masterful in a move-the-chains offense, running for 52 yards, passing for 154 (on 14 for 20) with a touchdown and no interceptions.
With how weak our LB’S are against the pass, it would be a tremendous mistake to under estimate Garrard, he could hurt us real bad with the short throws with MJD being the threat he is at running back. Garrard doesn’t need to test our secondary, he’ll be more than happy to exploit our LB corp, just saying, are you listening LB’s? LOL.
This is too hilarious, just like we were saying yesterday there will be lots of orange in the stands with the hometown boy Tebow’s Gator color jerseys that so many fans there wear, well now this is how they will try to curb that to hopefully not have so much orange in the stands Sunday:
The Jaguars have designated Sunday “teal day” and have asked fans to wear teal for the game. No word whether Tim Tebow’s No. 15 jersey comes in a teal model. Tebow is a longtime Jacksonville resident.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
For the ones who often here think that our O line will be just fine, you might want to read this article today:
Continuity on offensive line work in progress
By Jeff Legwold
The Denver Post
It pretty much says it as it is, and reinforces my always saying this season will go the way of the O line, it goes we go, it doesn’t we’re in dire strait.
Good Morning Broncos Country..
Before the beginning of the Broncos 2010 season is upon us. I just want to say thanks to a few Broncos that have been a highlight for me this offseason…
John Elway, Thanks for finding a way to get back into our eyes and ears and trying to be a part of the Broncos again. Even if it’s just a comment here and there or a little advise to the QB’s or lunch with Josh… It means a lot to me…
Jim Saccomano and the Blog writers, for keeping the blog interesting with a great mixture of new and old Bronco information and stories. This is the best place to be for a true Bronco bloging fan and you all are the reason…
Josh McD, for trying his best to find a franchise QB. Thanks for answering my blog wishes and drafting Tim Tebow, giving us armchair QB gurus something to look forward to. I have no doubt that he will be great.
Kyle Orton, for staying tough, sticking it out, and putting up with all my b/s and disbelief in his ability. You just keep on prooving me wrong KO.. Keep up the good work.
baylinorcrush, Thanks for always being here to b/s and discuss all of the probable and improbable Bronco possibilities…
This might get to be a bumpy road for the beginnig of the season but I’m hoping the Broncos will follow a path of continued improvement, peaking right at the end of the year when the time is right to be ripe…
KEEP THE DRIVE ALIVE MCDANIELS!!!!!
I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!!!!
LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED WITH A WIN IN FLA!!!!!
And about the game’s major factor, the weather, the only thing McD has done to help acclimate his team to it is make them drink tons of water DURING THE WEEK IN DENVER!!!
Wouldn’t you have gotten rid of all that thru your plumbing by Sunday morning? LOL.
Wouldn’t going to Jacksonville a couple days earlier to practice there be more helpful and just give them lots of water starting Sunday morning, isn’t it the day they will need to be hydrated for? Not during the week at Dove Valley?
So many questions for this young coach, he says he can’t do anything about the weather, yet he does THAT!?!?!?!
Gimme a break, either do nothing or do something to really deal with it by going there early, that’s just way too weird for me. I lived in Florida 16 years, going there two days early would of helped, it’s not like altitude, it doesn’t take two weeks to be acclimated to it, two days of practice in heat would take the shock factor out of it, as it is the shock will happen when it will be over 100 F on the sunny visitors’ sideline at game time… yeah, the home team always picks the shady side.
Live and learn, hopefully not at the expense of a loss that will be blamed on the heat factor.
ILMSDB!!!
And thanks for giving my b.s. a good connotation.
Trying to fight the heat factor for Sunday by drinking tons of water during the week is like trying to kill a bear with a fly swatter, LOL.
I’m not one to argue much but If they drink a lot of water on Sunday morning then they will have to pee real bad during the game… just sayin…lol
I was just checking out the Jacksonville local papers for getting a pulse and I came across this article that will make all of us Bronco fans proud to be who we are. It talks about how this week the Jags will not have a black out which is unusual for them (the Tebow factor), and it goes on to say that about the Chargers:
It appears the Jaguars will be playing a blacked-out game after all. San Diego Chargers president Dean Spanos says it’s more than likely that next week’s home opener against Jacksonville won’t be televised in their market.
Spanos mentioned the economy in Southern California as a big factor in lagging ticket sales. Fans are also down on the Chargers’ recent playoff exits.
Here’s the frightening part: the Chargers are coming off a 13-3 season, are favored to win a fifth consecutive AFC West title, and they’re currently around 10,000 short of selling out a home opener!
What a bunch of losers those SD fans are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They’ll be soaked anyway, no one will notice, haha.
How long does it take to hydrate the body? Is it something you have to do for a few days before your body is adequately hydrated.
I don’t understand why he just doesn’t make them stay ultra hydrated all the time? Not just for low altitude games…
I wonder if there’s a scientific way to test a persons hydration level? That could be handy for NFL teams…
shoot, count me in. I am going with 10-6. And I say we come out with a bang tomorrow. Not overlooking the jags, but I think our team is getting overlooked once again and they will come out swinging, just like a few years ago when we started the year out on the road against the faiders. We were expected to win that one, but we demolished them. I think we will make a statement with orton tomorrow and finish the game 31-17. But I am hoping we can hold them to 10 points. 17 is more realistic though. They really aren’t that bad of a team if their o-line is back to where it was. I remember how banged up it was last year.
Ahh..hahaha the SanDiego Super Choakers are still riding that empty old dusty trophy case…
Maybe they should move south about a half mile and become the Tijuana Chargeleros…
The NFL is trying to break into foreign markets after all…
Being hydrated does not get you used to perform in heat and humidity, it is just an insurance against major defficiencies like heat stroke and cramps. To get the team acclimated to it the only answer in my opinion is to go down there on a Thursday or earlier instead of Saturday.
The way it is, they’ll get there today late pm, when things seem bearable, then tomorrow morning feels ok and by the time you hit the field it’s like “oh my gosh!!!!” is my point. Too late anyway, water under the bridge, gotta do with what we got, GO BRONCOS!
Maybe he’s gonna keep them in the air conditioning untill right before the game and then hopefully they can get through and back into the AC before they melt… lol
If I were the coach I sould have big air and mist fans on our sideline for hot games and big hot air blowers for the cold ones..
I want to clean up a little of what I said about MJD yesterday Bay. I still say MJD is the only one I’m truly threatened by, but I agree that Garrard is exactly the type of quarterback you need to win games in the NFL. Also, I’m sure talented youngsters like Sims-Walker, Mike Thomas, and Derrick Harvey are going to become really good players. My point is, though, they haven’t really shown me anything spectacular yet in their careers, but they do have a ton of potential, which they have each shown flashes of. Let’s just hope they don’t reach that potential til after Sunday’s game lol.
I don’t know, I guess I just like some of our matchups against them, especially their young receivers having to get open against Champ and Goody. Not an easy task for the young ones.
But anyway you’re right I admit. They do have more weapons than just MJD.
the broncos will go 10-6 if not better… our defense is great and kyle neck beard orton will have a great season… I am pissed that elvis is our for the season…. but the broncos will return to the playoff this year and make a deep run…wit our potent offensive and stellar defensive.
I share the concern for the heat and humidity and hope McDs’ strategy to take care of it works(remember that year when we got killed in Miami the first game?).10-6 with the final one against SD being critical for advancement to where we all want to see our team go.GO BRONCOS!!
