Harris and Miller Named to All-Rookie Team

January 16th, 2012 - 2:03pm by Stuart Zaas

Pro Football Weekly and the Professional Football Writers of America announced their annual All-Rookie team on Monday. Broncos cornerback Chris Harris (named as a safety) and linebacker Von Miller represented Denver on the squad.

Harris, who was signed by the Broncos as a college free agent out of Kansas, finished the regular season ranked fourth on the team with 65 tackles. He also intercepted one pass and broke up six others. Harris was the team’s nickel cornerback for the majority of the season, but was selected to the All-Rookie team as a safety.

Miller, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft from Texas A&M, tied the Broncos’ rookie sack record with 11.5 quarterback takedowns on his way to becoming just the second rookie in club history to be named to the Pro Bowl. His 11.5 sacks tied for ninth in the NFL and his 64 tackles were fifth-most on the Broncos.

Well deserved boys. Cant wait to see what you guess got for next year.

  2. baylinorcrush says:

Amazing to me that undrafted Harris gets in the mix, incredible job Harris, and I expected nothing less of a #2 pick, so no biggie Miller is in too.

Franklin probably didn’t miss it by much…

  3. broncos504 says:

He doesn’t play safeties he played corner

  4. shaztah says:

Did you guys hear that we signed all 8 of the practice squad players to a future contract? That includes Weber, so he will be back too.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

He can play both, he started all 12 games as a senior in 2010, including six at safety, but technically he is a CB with us, just glad he got in some way…

  6. strandoftds says:

The one player I`m curious about that was placed on IR during the preseason is RB Mario Fannin. I really want to see his skills at his position.

  7. 1nOnlyTRB says:

As bay said he played both in College.

It is also a testiment to how weak a safety class it was. We got the top safety in rahim and QC wasnt too far behind.

Heck Chris Conte who made it had 30 tackles and 1 Int. Rahim Moore made 31 tackles and 1 int and he didn’t start that many games. QC shoulda made it with his 53 tackles and 1 sack, especially for a guy who didn’t start from day one and switched between FS and SS. The selection was made before playoffs so no way they coulda factored his play and INTs against Brady and Big Ben.

PS: I see some people are already making draft selections. Combine hasn’t even happened yet lol. Eastwest and Senior Bowl either lol. And we all know how quick people drop and rise after these 3 events lol.

TRB, thats why I said on the last blob of projections; (As of today). Only projections is all. It`ll change, thats a given.

  13. imready says:

Great for Miller, awesome for Harris undrafted and all. Great job by the staff who brought him to the Broncos. QC is should have made it , he is a beast! I think Weber can play, glad they signed him up! We’re going to have a great 2012 season. Go Broncos!

  14. jsizzla says:

There’s that under the radar guy TRB was talkin’ about in Harris. Undrafted free agent making the all rookie team. More bright spots on a very young team. We need to draft defense, defense and more DEFENSE!!

  15. strandoftds says:

I`d go offense in FA: RB, TE, and WR. And maybe even a backup OL. Then all d in the draft except another RB. Stock up on RB`s.

  16. strandoftds says:

All D in the draft I meant.

  17. broncos208 says:

i just want the broncos to have a healthy offseason preseason and great FA’s and a solid draft on dt and mlb
