Graduating to the NFL

May 23rd, 2009 - 2:59pm by Gray Caldwell

For the past few weeks, college students everywhere have celebrated their graduations. For some of the Broncos’ most recent draft picks, it’s no different.

Richard Quinn graduated from the University of North Carolina last December, but that didn’t stop him from showing up to the Class of 2009′s commencement on May 10.

“I got done with school early,” Quinn said. “But I just went out there to show some love. The main thing is I was just happy to be out there with all my friends and celebrate one last time with them.”

He wore the blue cap just like everyone else, but there was one big difference with his outfit — instead of the accompanying gown, he sported his new Broncos “09″ jersey.

The second-round draft pick said the wardrobe choice drew some smiles and congratulations from fellow graduates.

“Nobody expected that,” he said. “I knew I was going to wear that jersey at least one time, and that was the right time.”

And when people ask the graduate what his plans are after college, it’s pretty obvious right away — he’s going to be playing football.

Now Quinn’s back in Denver getting ready for passing camp, which begins this Tuesday. Just thought you’d like to see how one of the rookies is already representing the Broncos.

Lakers are in for a tough series. Hey, Doc, did you like that email? A friend sent it to me. July 12 huh? I’m the 10th.

  2. Dr.Chris says:

well not really overrated. I just hate him. I don’t even know why I just hate him. I don’t like Kobe either.

did every one have a good memorial day weekend?

  3. Dynamicdave says:

Thanks Aussie. Well, I’m out of here. I’ve got to go pick up my gal pal. See you all on the rebound…

To the Batmobile…. Talk to you all later. Same bat time, same bat channel…..

  4. BroncoAussie says:

I understand not liking Kobe, the little rapist, but Lebron I don’t get it, maybe it is something to do with his personality you don’t like.

  5. bronco#80 says:

Lebron is not overrated, best basketball player in NBA and future legend, plus insnt a rapist. Kobe on the other hand is a rapist, is overrated, also bad example for kids.
    GO KING JAMES!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. bronco#80 says:

Nuggets gave the Lakers a whooping tonight, made my day.

  7. Dr.Chris says:

Bronc#80, you made a typo, you mean queen james.

  8. Dr.Chris says:

queen not queer. queen like he acts like he is the best in the NBA when he’s not. it takes a team to win a championship, not a player. that’s why the Nuggets and Magic are going to beat Kobe and Lebron.

  9. bronco#80 says:

im with BroncoAussie, Chris, please tell me how Lebron is gay or how he plays like a girl, neither makes any sense what so ever!
    GO KING JAMES!!!!!!!!

  10. Dr.Chris says:

I never said he was gay nor did I say he played like a girl.

  11. BroncoAussie says:

Yeah I know Queen just has a different meaning here than for you guys. Queen, Queer same thing here when referring to a guy. He probably is the best player in the NBA and he uses that to draw his team to him and make them believe they are good to. They feed off his skill and that helps make them a better team. Why do you think everywhere he goes his team does well, check out his high school and college and see what he did there. I am not trying to stick up for him just don’t think it is fair to hate a guy because he is a great player. As for Kobe he doesn’t lead like Lebron, Lebron leads by example.

  12. bronco#80 says:

hey Chris you made a typo, you said Lebron acts like the best in the NBA (you meant to say he is the best in the NBA) and lebron shares the ball more than anybody, Cavs play like a team and win like a team, every person on the cavs has a role onthe team, plus lebron is a beast

  13. bronco#80 says:

BroncoAussie has it right there, dont hate on someone for no reason, just cause you might be jelous of them

  14. Dr.Chris says:

bronco#80, you made a typo, you said Lebron shares the ball more than anybody ( meant to say less than anybody ). LOL

I would rather have Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, or Dwayne Wade over Lebron anyday.

  15. bronco#80 says:

and now I can say GO KING JAMES without trying to be proven wrong that Lebron is the king of basketball present day by mr. Chris
    GO KING JAMES!!!!!!

  16. BroncoAussie says:

I understand where Dr Chris is coming from, Lebron probably talks himself up which is annoying, I am the greatest sort of stuff, for example Chad Johnson or Ocho ChicO, whatever it is, is annoying. But the difference between the two is Lebron has the game to back up the state he makes. Like Ali which I referenced before, if he hadn’t won any of the fights he did he would just be another buster talking smack.

  17. Dr.Chris says:

don’t get me wrong, lebron is an all-star player in the NBA, he’s just not my favorite and I don’t think he’s the best either. its like asking the question “who is the best player on the Broncos?” personaly, I think it is Ryan Clady. I’m sure a lot of you disagree with me.

  18. BroncoAussie says:

I would prefer Lebron, so what he hogs the ball, do you say Adrain Peterson hogs the ball so you give Chester Taylor a run. Hell no! You give the best player the ball to make the magic happen, see Cavs win over magic in game 2, last seconds.

  19. BroncoAussie says:

He’s not my favorite is alot better than I hate the guy. Who is the best NBA player then and why? As for the broncos best player, it is hard to compare positions, Ryan Clady is probably the most talented but does he have the leadership qualities to be the best, I don’t know. If it weren’t for Ben and Casey I don’t think Clady does as well as he does last year they showed him the ropes.

  20. Dr.Chris says:

Lebron is definately one of the top-five players in the NBA, I just don’t like him. its like the New England Patriots, their a top-five team in the NFL, I just don’t like them.

  21. bronco#80 says:

I just checked the stats of Lebrons assists of the first 3 games and he has the most assists on the team each game.
    Game 1 8 assists loss
    Game 2 5 assists win

  22. Dr.Chris says:

    but I do hate him.

  23. BroncoAussie says:

Everyone outside of New England hates the Patriots, me included. You say he is top five then who would be your number 1?

  24. bronco#80 says:

    OOPS, didnt finish

I just checked the stats of Lebrons assists of the first 3 games and he has the most assists on the team each game.
    Game 1 8 assists loss
    Game 2 5 assists win
    Game 3 9 assists loss

Seems to be Lebron shares the ball the most on his team, and when he shares it to much the Cavs dont win. Have i proven my point yet?
    GO KING JAMES!!!!!!!!

  25. Dr.Chris says:

depends what category. Dwight Howard is definately the best big-man in the game, Chris Paul best distriputor, and once provided the right players around him, Dwayne Wade is the best scorer.

  26. BroncoAussie says:

Just because he shares the ball doesn’t mean he is the best NBA player, it is the complete package that makes you the best. Things like leadership, what they do in the community those things contribute to you being the best player, as well as your on field talent.

  27. Dr.Chris says:

you can’t judge him on three games all against the same team. thats not very good info to present.

  28. bronco#80 says:

and you say you wopuld rather have chris paul or dwayne wade on your team, well look at were they are now. Watching the Cavs eliminating the Magic out of the playoffs

  29. BroncoAussie says:

If i am correct bronco#80 the cavs are a game down in the series.

  30. Dr.Chris says:

thats because the Cav’s are the better TEAM!

  31. bronco#80 says:

Lebron is the whole package, he can do everything, name one thing he cant do, he is the best because he is the best combination of everthing good in the NBA.

  32. bronco#80 says:

dont get me wrong, the Magic is a good team, but the cavs are still the better team, gaurantee the cavs win the series!

  33. Dr.Chris says:

how many championship rings does he have? thats something he hasen’t done.

  34. BroncoAussie says:

Dr Chris, you are now saying they are the better team, so that makes Lebron a team player and therefore the best player in the NBA. You just went backwards on your previous argument. As for Lebron being the complete package, I don’t think so, he is getting close. But using MJ as the measuring stick he just is right there yet.

  35. bronco#80 says:

hes still pretty young and hes on his way to one this year and many more

  36. BroncoAussie says:

Thats a silly argument Dr Chris, he is young, what are you going to say in a few years time when he has 3 or 4 rings?

  37. bronco#80 says:

yeah, you kinda just screwed your self over there chris, and proved me right thanks, lebron and the cavs are the best team and player in the NBA.

  38. BroncoAussie says:

Lebron is probably the best CURRENT NBA player but not the greatest all time. One thing you use the rings to compare players against former ones to find out who is the greatest.

  39. bronco#80 says:

I completly agree with that BroncoAussie, KING JAMES is the best CURRENT basketball player, MJ all time. What do you think about that Chris?

  40. bronco#80 says:

still there Chris or cat caught your tongue? Eh

  41. BroncoAussie says:

No need to bait him bronco#80, everyone has their own opinion and sometimes they are people you just don’t like. But we are here to enlighten people to a different way of thinking. Because hate leads to the dark side haha.

  42. bronco#80 says:

Guess little old Chris ran off cause he lost the arguement. Good conversation BroncoAussie. KING JAMES best current day basketball player.
    GO KING JAMES!!!!!!!!

  43. BroncoAussie says:

I said PROBABLY best current player, a lot goes into working out the best current player but it is very hard to do. You got to remember form changes game to game. It is better to compare greatest all time a lot easier.

  44. bronco#80 says:

Guess your right BroncoAussie, just makes me mad when people hate on other people for no reason, especialley, when there hatin on the best

  45. bronco#80 says:

I think im gonna go to bed now, cause im pretty tired, but it was fun havibg this conversation, laters

  46. BroncoAussie says:

Some people are just that way, have a dislike of someone for no good reason or a very trivial reason. But like I said we are here to enlighten.

  47. BroncoAussie says:

Peace Out my brothers form another country, I better get back to work haha.

  48. Dynamicdave says:

I’m back guys. Go a little easier on Doc. You do know he’s 14, right? He has a lot of sports knowledge for a young man his age. Just a friendly FYI.

  49. BroncoAussie says:

Haha thanks Dynamicdave, yeah I figured something like that. It explains why his argument wasn’t sound. But I ain’t he to rag on people I am here to learn and I enjoyed that conversation.

  50. Broncobailey99 says:

I gotta get me a Chris “Bridman” Anderson jersey!…
