Goodman Released

April 13th, 2012 - 3:22pm by Gray Caldwell

On Friday, the Broncos released veteran cornerback André Goodman.

The 11th-year player spent the last three seasons with Denver, starting all 16 games in two of those campaigns.

During that span, Goodman totaled 109 tackles, seven interceptions, 35 passes defensed, one sack and three fumble recoveries.

Goodman has also played for Miami and Detroit in his career since being selected by the Lions in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

    big mistake!

Good luck Goody! Thought he was a good team mate. Not the best, most consistent DB, but made some big plays for us last year when we needed them. Porter better be a good replacement!

I think it was a mistake too. We need all the corners we can get. I live in new orleans n got to watch alot of porter. he is a pretty good corner not great the biggest problem with porter is staying healthy. I don’t think he played all 16 games since he was drafted. But with that said he a good tackler n he a good teammate n he never gets n trouble. I was hopeing we would have keep goody though.

FINALLY!!!! GOODY YOU ARE A BUM!!!!!! Horrible CB that got majorly overpaid by Denver!!!!!

    2. The Broncos have a “short list” of players they are looking at. Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is reportedly on that short list. Denver would love to develop a young cornerback to a roster that needs a lot of work.

I AGREE IT WAS A GOOD MOVE TO SAVE MONEY AND GO GET A TALLER TALENTED CB…….

    Wow, AB that’s just tasteless.

Thank You for Everything you brought to Denver Mr. Goodman. I wish you the Best in The Future.
I’m with 24_champbailey, theotheredge, and cleblanc10 on this one.Like strandoftds, This will save some money but, I hope it’s not a mistake.

Hats off Goody, if it wasnt for your age and gross overpayment, woulda loved to have you back … next to Dwill best CB we have had play across Champ. No easy task. Made some big plays when we needed it (after getting torched earlier, he had a defensive tebow time lol) Best of luck but the cap room was needed.

Kind of funny that AB wants Dre Kirkpatrick who was just arrested for Marijuana but doesn’t want a better cornerback, Jenkins, because of Marijuana arrests. Go figure. This was another huge mistake by an inept front office. Good corners are one of the things the Broncos needed most. Why would you take away from your depth chart to save a few million. Try not paying broke down overrated old men to the tune of 96 million dollars and you’d be in decent shape. This is gonna be a LOT of fun to watch.

I liked Goody when we 1st got him,but after he got hurt he was never the same, sorry to see him go,but it’s the best interest for our team!!!!

Glad to have the money, hope Denver will give Jenkins a chance in the 2nd. It is seeming like he will be there more and more as news comes out about his past. If not him I hope we pick up a SS to learn from Dawk for atleast a season. I would love Harrison outa Notre Dame. Hope all the talk about “arming manning” with all these weapons doesn’t effect our initial need of building the D in this years draft.

He was solid for a while but at other times he gave up lots of big plays. We need to get younger and pick up more solid cornerbacks. This move was just fine.
