Gase on Manning

January 17th, 2013 - 12:21pm by Gray Caldwell

Perhaps no one in the organization spent more time with quarterback Peyton Manning during the 2012 season than his position coach, Adam Gase.

Now offensive coordinator, Gase shed some light onto his relationship with Manning.

It’s built, he said, on their shared work ethic.

“The way that he works, I think (we) probably helped each other because I think he appreciates when he sees guys trying to do what he does — grind like he does,” Gase said. “I think that’s what he’s looking for with everybody in the building. He gravitates to people like that. I tried to do that 100 percent, just get after it as much as possible, get him as many answers as he needed for that week. In the offseason, the studying and being able to be ahead of what we were doing, that was huge. You had to really get after it. He’s as smart and works as hard as it gets out there. You can’t just walk in there in his meeting room and just say, ‘Hey, I think I got it.’ You better be on it.”

The types of questions Manning asks are “always productive,” he said, and are aimed at solving problems quickly and improving the offense before the next week’s game.

The thing about Manning, Gase said, is he can solve a lot of those problems himself.

“Peyton Manning wants to be coached,” he said. “He does a great job of, when you give him a play, if it needs to be better, he does a great job of putting you in that play. It’s the best situation possible for a guy calling plays, if you call something and it’s not good, he fixes it and puts you in a better play. That’s what he does that’s so great that I don’t think people admire it enough. That’s why you don’t see a lot of bad plays with him.”

I agree Bay, Fox is a conservative stick in the mud as evidenced by what transpired against the Ravens. Our only hope is that he will allow Gase to run the offense that hee wants to run .

  2. baylinorcrush says:

    Facts are obviously chilling, LOL.

  3. OTbroncos says:

Tom Coughlin has often been criticized for being too conservative as well.

  4. oldsouthstander says:

Bay: Reeves actually won with Giants if memory serves me.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

Not as a HC, as an assistant like McD.

  6. baylinorcrush says:

Dan Reeves has participated in more Super Bowls as player/assistant coach/Head Coach than anyone else. He played in two Super Bowls, Super Bowl V and Super Bowl VI and also was an assistant coach in three more, Super Bowl X, Super Bowl XII, Super Bowl XIII, and was Head Coach in four more Super Bowl XXI, Super Bowl XXII and Super Bowl XXIV as the Denver Broncos’ head coach, and Super Bowl XXXIII as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Hence he lost the 4 when he was HC.

I’m concerned we might have a Reeves clown on our hands, and not a clown in the funny way but in the twin way.

Fox will need to prove me wrong that’s all.

  7. RH709 says:

With his level of talent and assistant coaches. Fox can win a SB. our defense got beat more than our offense and most of it was due to the improved Oline play by the Ravens.

There were some questionable and concerning calls by Fox but in the end, that was far from the only problem that day.

  8. baylinorcrush says:

And Reeves did not win as an assistant coach with the Giants but with the Cowboys against us in our first SB, a little known fact.

  9. baylinorcrush says:

He was HC of the Giants from 1993 through 1996 but never got to the SB. Love all this history stuff but I got things to do, you all have fun.

  11. tbroncof says:

    Cheers to you bro!!!!!!!!

  12. oldsouthstander says:

Gray: The Broncos has a potential HOF inductee and yet not one single word about who Culy Culp was and why he deserves to be inducxted.

    SHAME!!!!!

  13. baylinorcrush says:

    Oldsouth, you’re welcome.

  14. tbroncof says:

    Hey Bay……whats up old man….lol?

  15. tbroncof says:

PFM has taken to the woods and hunting, with one of his best friends,Todd Helton,Rockies 1st baseman, and fellow UT grad,to try and forget the horrible playoff loss……..he killed a duck in Colorado and a deer in Mississippi in the same day….take your anger out on some game big guy,we love you and we will shine in 2013!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Hey big guy, just got off my man cave on the orange crush having a kick arse sierra nevada six pack of IPA, end result is nothing like a six pack of your Bud Lights and nothing like your homemade ethanol, LOL, but it is pretty sweet.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

  18. tbroncof says:

Man i got a half gallon of apple pie moonshine in the fridge,it’s freaking good.I heard that Smokey mountain moonshine is selling nationwide coming outta Gatlinburg TN,but It’s only 40 proof….I made 2 gallon of apple pie from 1 quart of 200 proof…

  19. tbroncof says:

  21. tbroncof says:

    I think you are 58?

I’m 42 and feel like I’m 60 bro,a rough life will do that to you!

BTW…keep your chin up dude,Foxy may get us at least 1 SB,while he’s here,I know you don’t like his playcalling, but I think we are better off with McCoy gone, the guy had no respect for the Broncos,IMO,or he wouldn’t have interviewed with other teams the past 2 years during the playoffs,he didn’t even have enough patience to wait like most assistant coaches do..we need a greast draft class to put us in the SB next year,RB,MLB,DL,S!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. baylinorcrush says:

No biggie, I guess they got lost in the mail, LOL.

I wish you nothing but the best big guy and I also wish you could check out my vinyl album collection, talk about Rock n’ roll!

  25. strandoftds82 says:

    Rock n Roll!

  26. tbroncof says:

    Hootchie Coo..lol.

  27. tbroncof says:

Hey dude my brother sent me a cd the other day..Black & Blue…In Heat……I been trying to get it for years,I love it!!!

  28. strandoftds82 says:

Its been years since I’ve heard that CD.

  29. tbroncof says:

They don’t make cds like that anymore,I guess I was lucky growing up a teenager in the 80s,that was definitely the best decade for Rock n Roll…imo!

  30. tbroncof says:

    PFM for MVP!!!!!!!!!!
Von Miller for DPOTY……..18.5 sacks(Broncos record)6 Forced fumbles 1 int for a pick 6,led the league with 28 TFL!!!!!!!!

  31. tnalen66 says:

not going to happen. Peterson & Watts

  32. tnalen66 says:

If Bailey didn’t get in 2006 when he had 10 int & i believe lead the league & had a few pick 6s, and Doom in 2009 when he lead the league with 17 sacks & a bunch of ff. Miller needed more sacks or a few more ints to beat out Watts. W

  33. tnalen66 says:

Watts had more sacks and a bunch of tipped & knocked down passes.

  34. tnalen66 says:

    FAs we need to resign
    Clady 1 sack
    Koppen 1 sack
    Carter good young CB
Colquitt really good punter & holder
Vickerson B/4 this year i was not a fan but he did great this year
    Bruton good ST
Stokley smart, great hands & can teach the next slot WR cuz willis is not it
    Clark good back up T
Unrien Good dept on both lines and can catch
Porter but i’m sure he does not want to stay. Sign him & move Champ to Safety

Next year we need to wear Blue jerseys at home during the playoffs 7-1 overall, lost the last 2 in orange,10-6 overall.

  35. tbroncof says:

If PFM don’t get MVP it will be a travesty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Von Miller was only 1 sack shy of Watts,so Watts had like 16 passes swatted,Von had 28 tacles for loss and 6 FF!!!!!!

  36. tbroncof says:

    *tackles

  37. tbroncof says:

66…I agree with everything you said in your 9:10 post bro!!!!!!!!

  38. tbroncof says:

I say sign Porter, but if he dosen’t wanna stay,I think Chris Harris and Tony Carter can be our starting CBs,and move Champ to Safety to team up with Mike Adams, while Quinton Carter learns!!!!!!!!Moore…..????????I like the guys potential myself!

  39. tnalen66 says:

With the way Peterson ran the last 5 weeks and the whole knee injury etc…He has every one talking about MVP. Damn Packers would of won the last game the Vikes would of missed the playoffs ,Manning would be MVP. Watts grabbed the attention early & often. Watts had 2 more sacks. In the past Denver players have gotten screwed so i don’t see it happening.

  40. tbroncof says:

    Clady,Koppen,Vick,and Colquitt are the top 4 priorities,imo!!!!!!!!!!

IMO…..Koppen is a better Center than Walton, but that is my opinion!!!!

  41. tnalen66 says:

Moore has looked bad in both playoff loses. I would like to see a change. Harris is great but he seems to get injured too much.

  42. tbroncof says:

PFM has the best passer rating in the AFC……I know AP got over 2000 yards, but I think PFM was the best player to help his team in 2012!…from 8-8 to 13-3!!!!!!!!!and it was one of PFM’s best statistical years ever!

Whoever gets the MVP,whether it be PFM or AP,it will be deserved!..both played with passion!!!!

  43. tnalen66 says:

yep Koppen was a great signing by Elway.

  44. tbroncof says:

We definitely need to draft a CB or Safety in the 2nd round,I would like a RB in the 1st round,Lacey or Ball!!!!!!!!

  45. tbroncof says:

Koppen should be the starting Center in Denver the next 5 years,I don’t know why the Pats let him go?

  46. tnalen66 says:

I think that when Chris Johnson had his 2000 yrs season it was way better that peterson. Peterson only had 13 TDs, CJ had double,, more recieving yrs ,& total yrs than AP. He lead TENN to a Div title & 1st rd bye. But every one jumped on his band wagon. In any other year Manning & Miller would get the awards.

  47. tnalen66 says:

We had a 1st place schedule, 8 playoff teams,Manning had new team ,teammates, coaches etc..had one of the best years. Mn a last place schedule, 12 games indoors, lost all 4 outdoor. They beat Jax, Tenn , Ariz, Stl, Det twice thats 6 wins against the worse teams.

  48. tlcat06 says:

We won’t know MVP until the day before the SB. QBs are obviously more valuable than RBs and I agree with Shannon, Peyton wins. After all, his comeback was more impressive as well.

I heard through the grapevine that Les Miles said our game last week was the worst coached games he’s ever watched.

  49. tbroncof says:

IDK….everybody was saying that Aldon Smith would get ROTY last year, and Von Miller got it!!!!!!

I hope PFM gets MVP for the 5th time, that would be a record that will NEVER be broken, his 4 MVPs might not !!!!!!!!

Anyway nice talkin to ya 66,I always enjoy talkin to you bro….B.F.E.!!!!!!!
