If the plan is to get Luck they will probably have to sell most of the ranch to do it. I doubt Denver will be at the bottom in spite of Fox’s and Orton’s best efforts. I suspect that will be Miami’s choice to consider. That means a multi-player draft deal to get the pick. How long do you suppose it will take to build a team around him with few, if any, draft choices left to work with? Maybe 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, before you can put enough picks on a team to start to get quality both in the starting line-up and depth? If that is the plan, get comfortable with tagging along behind the rest of the NFL for quite awhile. There are so many holes all over the roster that I’m not sure that a QB is even the greatest need at this point. Certainly one of them, but given the holes everywhere on both offense and defense, maybe not the greatest. And, of all the holes, that is the one where there are players on the roster who might be able to address it.

On a different note, if that is the Elway Plan, he will be doing exactly what I thought he would do, said so and got yelled at for it when he was hired. He is looking for Clone of Elway and doesn’t seem even remotely interested in managing or developing the talent he has on the roster now. I not only think Tebow will be traded, I think he should be since nobody in Denver wants him there or cares to try and develop him. I also think Quinn should already be planning his escape so that he might get a fair chance somewhere else since he isn’t going to get it in Denver. I don’t think they have ANY intentions of playing Tebow unless Mr. Bowlin steps in because it would interfere one way or the other with their “master plan” and they are not going to have that happen. I suspected to begin with that was why they kept mentioning Quinn as the #2 so they had an additional reason not to play Tebow.

I am not a conspiracy theorist so I am not convinced things intentionally started out this way, but this is the way they are coming together. This may be what their initial plan has devolved into rather than the plan they started with. If it is, that does not bode well for the long term success of Denver. Instability at the top begats instability at the bottom and the teams who win consistently are always very stable at the top. It also doesn’t say a whole lot about the people running things because when you become so convinced that your ideas are correct that you won’t even consider anything outside of that, you quickly turn into a train wreck looking for a place to happen!

winning cures a lot of ailments. I don’t care who is under center and I truly believe that most fans feel the same when we are winning. but were not, so the show continues.

    GO BRONCOS!

This is meant to the ones here who say Luck is just like any QB, that even so he might be highly regarded now he could very well fail in the NFL like many others, what a bunch of crock, only injuries will derail that guy is my prediction, and I don’t say that out of what I hear of him, I say so out of watching him. Here is from Krieger:

STANFORD, Calif. — Yes, you can be a Broncos fan and cheer for the Chargers today. No, that’s not blasphemy.

You just have to be smart enough to know that the Broncos’ decade of doldrums will disappear if they earn the right to draft Andrew Luck next spring by compiling the NFL’s worst record this season.

Carrying a play chart on his left forearm the size of a small tablet computer, Luck picked apart the University of Colorado at Stanford Stadium on Saturday with the efficiency of a future surgeon who doesn’t need an incision to cut out your heart.

Granted, carving up this year’s Buffaloes is no superhuman feat, but the precision and variety of Luck’s play only confirmed the rare talent that has made the NFL’s race for the bottom this year nearly as compelling as the race for the top.

“He can throw the ball from any body position,” Stanford coach David Shaw said afterward. “The throw he made last week going to his left against UCLA was one of the best throws I’ve ever seen. To throw the ball over a guy’s head and get it up and down before the safety gets there, while he’s twisting, going to his left, with a guy in his face. The guy is phenomenal.”

I mentioned that he threw another touchdown across his body, running to his left, Saturday.

“It’s every game,” Shaw said. “Every game he does something that not many human beings can do.”

It’s obvious why scouts can’t decide whether he’s the best quarterback prospect since John Elway or Peyton Manning. Like Elway, he is remarkably athletic, escaping pressure with the feet of a dancer, occasionally running up on throws like an outfielder gathering momentum for a play at the plate. Like Manning, he is a coach on the field, routinely changing formations and plays at the line of scrimmage.

“Pretty much every play that we call is up to him, even when we do call it from the sidelines,” Shaw said. “He can run the play, sometimes we give him a second option, and then he can always change it if he sees something different.”

Luck changed the formation, stepping back into the shotgun or up from the shotgun, on maybe half of Stanford’s plays. With a group of NFL-quality tight ends, one of whom doubles as a fullback, the Cardinal is actually more versatile than most NFL teams. It shifted from an empty backfield with four wideouts to a power “I” formation on one play, a shift most NFL teams would require substitutions to make.

Luck was moving — sliding, running, rolling out — on many of his throws. It didn’t affect his accuracy a bit.

“Pretty close to flawless,” was how Shaw described his quarterback’s performance.

Elway, a former Stanford star, was on the sideline, although players didn’t have much chance to interact.

“He was an honorary captain for a game last year, so he came and talked to us and we got to talk a little bit,” Luck said. “Obviously, not as much as I’d like. He was one of the great quarterbacks of all time. He was my hero.”

Luck was 9 when Elway retired, so I asked if he remembered watching him play.

“Absolutely,” he said. “He was the best.”

Before taking over the Broncos’ front office, Elway expressed similar admiration for Luck as a pro prospect. If he can find a way to bring him to Denver, he may be the first man in NFL history to set up a franchise for two golden eras.

    Any questions?

  8. baylinorcrush says:

So see, I wasn’t hallucinating seeing Elway on the Standford sidelines yesterday.

Super long article by Lindsay Jones about the disgruntled fans in Denver I won’t bother you with except for the end of it where this guy Stratton says it all in a nutshell:

Today’s game against the Chargers will mark the third home game in Fox’s tenure as the Broncos’ coach. Even after two road losses, Fox is expecting a loud and passionate crowd, even if that includes some who are yelling things he doesn’t want to hear.

“I have tremendous respect for the fans. They’re passionate about the Broncos. I think that definitely beats the alternative where you don’t have that,” Fox said Friday. “But, again, we’re running a football team, and we’re going to put the guys out there that we think are the best.”

That answer likely won’t be enough to satisfy the most die-hard of Broncos fans, especially those who just want to see a change at quarterback.

“Be straight with us. Don’t take us for fools, because we’re not,” Stratton said. “There are a lot of well-versed, knowledgeable fans out there that know how football works. Don’t assume that we’re morons and need the simplest answer possible.”

  11. baylinorcrush says:

Sorry no picks on game day as in every week.

Kiz telling it like it is to this poor orange kool aid drinking gal, I feel bad for her, she is a good person, she donated blood:

I can’t believe the garbage you put in The Denver Post. Are you from Colorado, or did you transplant here? You sound like an idiot! Real fans love the Broncos, win or lose! I stood in line for hours to see these players, when I got up at the crack of dawn to give blood so I could spend a few seconds with them. Real fans understand we are going to lose games. We don’t put blame on the quarterback. These men go out on that field and push their bodies to the extreme for our entertainment. So stop calling them losers. If anyone is a loser, it is you.

    Jennifer, bleeds orange

Kiz: You’re absolutely correct. Although the Broncos are 7-23 in their last 30 games, highly paid professionals have feelings too. If you make the participation ribbons, I’ll hand them out with the orange popsicles to the fellows in the locker room after their next tough setback.

Poor girl, grilled by Kiz, LOL.

I am curious why you can only root for the starters to keep their positions to be a real fan. or am I mistaken when I thought that every player that wears the denver jersey was part of the team? silly me I guess.

You know I remember back in the 70s when we were a bad team and the fans stuck with the team through and through. Mile high stadium was still loaded with cheering people who love thier team regardless. I have had many negative things to say about the team I’ll admit over the past few years. I will still have a DOOM jersey on today and hoping that a player in a Bronco uniform makes a play every down. I will be yelling at my TV. I still love the Denver Broncos.

stevecan2: You’re right. We have to root for the Virgil Greens and Nate Irvings of the world too. What about the coaches, staff, secretaries, grounds keepers. I root for them all….regardless.

  21. seweatherman1 says:

    raidrhadr,
Bronco Nation is and always will be Bronco Nation, regardless of who is wearing the uniform, or playing for that matter. Just because you have negative things to say does not make you any less of a fan. Actually, to me anyway, it makes you more of a fan. You care about the team AND the organization. If you didn’t have negative things to say about stuff they do, then you wouldn’t be human. For me, anyone who doesn’t want to see or hear negative stuff about this team needs to find another team to support. There must be a ‘perfect’ team out there someplace that absolutely everyone supporting it is happy with.

  22. baylinorcrush says:

Bronco Country, just heard the Nation word all over the airwaves because of Al Davis death.

  23. baylinorcrush says:

Other than that agreed with your post.

  24. baylinorcrush says:

And folks don’t remember, or are too young to, what oldouthstander always reminds us of; in the sixties and early 70s, Bronco fans were split about their team as much as we are now and were just a voiceful about it, oldsouth will read this and be back with some fun yesteryear facts to remind us all that this is nothing new, just Bronco fandom is all.

  25. baylinorcrush says:

    oldsouthstander.

  26. seweatherman1 says:

Sorry, I meant Bronco Country. I was just sick of listening to all that on t.v. this morning, even though I knew that was all that was going to be talked about. Don’t get me wrong, I am really sorry the man has passed, but geesh, over and over again is a bit much.

  27. baylinorcrush says:

The only difference between the discontent of the early Bronco fans and today’s Bronco fans is the internet and all the other means of instant communication. Had you had that in the sixties and early 70s it would of been murder, just saying.

  28. raidrhadr says:

I wasn’t beating myself up for saying the things I’ve said guys. I was just tailing off the other posts I read. Yes, we in Bronco Country love our team regardless and that is my point. Thanks for the support.

I’m headed off to tailgate peeps. Not going into the game today but I will go tailgate with my cousin for sure. Keg beer, grilled grub, jello shots and donkey punch. Woo Hoo!!!!

    Go Broncos!!!!

  29. seweatherman1 says:

Can you just imagine what it will be like 20 or 30 years from now. Back then, all this instant communication was not even a thought in most people. Now, most people have it and wonder how they got along without it. I am not sure I want to see it in 30 years.

  30. seweatherman1 says:

    Have fun raidrhadr!
