On Tuesday, the NFL Players Association and USA Football announced the All-Fundamentals Team.
Champ Bailey was named to the roster, earning a trophy and an equipment grant to give to any youth or high school football program he chooses.
Ryan Clady earned the honor last season.
The roster is chosen based on two criteria: fundamentally sound play and consistent display of good character. Those selected are role models that young football players should watch and say, “I want to play like him.”
The fundamental Bailey is noted for on the roster is “playing the ball.”
This season, Bailey has accumulated 43 tackles, a sack, two interceptions and 15 pass breakups. In the past two games, he has held Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe without a catch and kept Cardinals wideout Larry Fitzgerald out of the end zone while breaking up two passes intended for him and drawing an offensive holding penalty against the receiver.
The nine-time Pro Bowler and member of the NFL All-Decade team for the 2000s is currently tied for sixth all-time among Broncos players with 30 interceptions with the club. His 48 career interceptions are tops among cornerbacks and third among all players in the NFL since his rookie season in 1999.

I really want that LB Greg Jones as well, he’s the next Patrick Willis if you ask me. A freakish tackler and a great leader. Having him in the linebacking corp would make DJ’s job a whole lot easier.
Drake Nevis would be a good DT to get in the late rounds for depth. He’s a high motor guy
Yeah getting multiple DTs in this draft definitely wouldn’t be a bad thing. We need all the depth there we can get. I’m sick of seeing the defense get gashed against the run.
I`m not going to judge Cox. They whhere probibly both Drunk or whatever they where doing. It could be anything, you name it. There`s just so much right now to pinpoint. We just don`t know. And like I said last week, she just might be a snake or gold digger, whatever. And like Some of us are saying. innocent until proven guilty. But reading the DP last night about the ordeal, it didn`t sound to good. We`ll see what happens.
milehighmagic88: I like your Greg Jones idea but I know I’ll piss people off with this but I think DJ needs to go too. He’s inconsistent, doesn’t shed blocks that well and does not maintain/attack gaps as he should. It’s technique mostly that may be able to be coached but I’ve seen him get worked alot. Especially by guards getting to the second level. I think he’s awesome laterally and defends the pass well though. Maybe I’m being harsh but I think he’s decent at best.
I’ve said it many times since last year. We need help in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Our rookies on the O-line may truly “get it” sometime but the D-line is atrocious. A DT early would be my choice. Not sure any would be worth a top 5 pick though.
I hope Timothy Richard gets to start this year. It would be best to find out if he can play before a new coaching staff comes in and decides he can’t.
Draft info if the season end today. Broncos are officially at #3 as of now. To see draft order as of today type in (updated draft position if season ended today). Interesting.
I know BFE will get a kick out of that and many others. Wow at seasons end me might be at # 2. I don`t know wheather to laugh or cry. LOL
Nooooooooo say it aint so…….
http://www.itsalloverfatman.com/broncos/entry/broncos-reportedly-interested-in-falcons-mularkey
Mularkey, His offense when he was HC for the Bills was Vanilla. Boring.
We do not another Offensive minded head coach. Plus Mularkey likes to try too many trick plays.
If they are gonna consider him then they might as well talk to Greg Williams from the Saints.
Ehnn…I hopefully not, but I wont read too much into it. A offensive minded coach with a as strand put it “vanilla” defense. At least if we gonna get one lets have one with a real D. If we going offensive again, Ill just hold out for Gubiak (and dennison) but nothing real is gonna happen till offseason and im pretty sure management has learned they should not select a head coach on their own. Hopefully they higher a GM first to take care of that…
Congrats Champ. Well deserved award. Sorry we couldn’t get a deal done with the best player on our team. Good luck Champ.
These attention grabbing, headline chasing “reports” are full of hot air. I believe at this point most everyone is a candidate with “interest” from the team. But it isn’t until the off season that we will know for sure who is being aggressively pursued and who ultimately is signed. Whoever the case, I would like to see a COMPLETE renewal from GM to water boys in terms of coaching.
Mularkey would be lost here, LOL.
He has one of the top RB bruiser in the league in Turner while we have nothing like that.
He has who is still one of the top TE in the league in Gonzales, we have Gronkowski.
He has one of the very best #1 WR in the league if not the very best in Roddy White, while we don’t even have a legitimate # 1.
Good luck him succeeding here, haha, plus we need a defensive mind as head coach anyway, and Gregg Williams is my choice, then Spewell or Rivera. Like TRB says there is probably zero credence to that report and we are going to hear many more.
And remember for this year’s hiring it’s gotta be: Elway first, GM second, HC third and so on.
While we are at it…..
Broncos: 24
Raiders: 38
Sounds good to me Bay. I like it.
And I hope you do get your wish to play with Tebow this year Champ. Chances are the organization will make another mistake this season though so I wouldn’t count on it. Hey way to use a first round pick on a wild cat quarterback… or is it your quarterback of the future Pat??? Because from my vantage point I can’t tell what’s going on because it can’t be any worse with Tebow at the healm. I mean we just lost to the Cardinals 43-13.
Having just lost to the Cardinals 43-13 my Raiders prediction has to be 60 zip to the Raiders. I don’t like it one bit but the players are playing beaten, particularly Orton, and it doesn’t look like anything can change that mindset. I am just hoping they get a grip of themselves and show a bit of pride.
I am now resigned to seeing Tim Tebow twiddling his thumbs and not earning his paycheck this year.
It will not be a very merry Christmas for Broncos fans having gone through the worst campaign in recent memory.
Thanks McD, and don’t come back.
broncochick1,
If you go by the link I posted up top…. chances are he might not play. This looks like what the Chargers did with Rivers. Only difference is the QB that was in front of Rivers at the time was actually good. While the QB in front of Tebow isssssssssss, well you know.

Teebow time!!!!!
bay: I have a feeling that Xanders is going to remain with the team as the GM. Jim Mora jr and Brian Billick both spoke highly of him. I just think Josh got his way and walked all over him. I do believe that Elway comes in as VP or Director of Football Ops. They will have to create the title as it stands now unless I’m misinterpreting the staff directory. As far as this other Mularkey goes….ugh. Bronco fans have had enough of the current mularkey. (had to do that). I hope they are going to set the bar a little higher.
raidrhadr, I hear you, well, since they say McD made all the final personnel decisions over Xanders, all I would have to be left with then is to give Xanders the benefit of the doubt, specially since this time around he would have Elway to help him out rather than McD to screw him up.
Bay: Alfred Williams brought up a good point too. Elway as a football guy could also approve or disapprove things like game plans and some personnel moves as it applies to exploiting opponent weaknesses. Big Al basically was in a rant because a caller (104.3 the fan) said he didn’t want Elway in the mix. Really? I’ll give Xanders the benefit of the doubt too but if he was basically railroaded and circumvented as it may appear what do we really have? Maybe Elway is the difference there like you’re suggesting.
I think Xanders should also stay. Having the HC/GM tandems that Denver has had for the last 15 years has lost it’s muster. Some HC refuse to coach without final say in personnel moves. I get that, I wouldn’t want to feel restrained in building the team I am in charge of leading either, however it has proved bad for business over all. Especially with the fan favorite Jon Gruden, who couldn’t draft a gold fish from a gold fish bowl…
I hope you’re wrong about Gruden cause he likes Tebow and would have drafted him! LOL!
Oh and he is not my favorite. I’d like to see Brian Billick or Bill Cowher over Gruden.
I might be wrong about Gruden. Nothing but his personality impresses me. He is hard nosed and ready to fight. However I don’t think he has adapted to the game over the last decade and it shows by a less than impressive end in Tampa Bay. I am not completely sold on the idea of a defensive minded HC either. There has been some great defensive minded HC’s over the years, but the bad has been far greater. I know that fans are sick and tired of lack luster defense out of an amazingly talented core of defenders. Given a productive D-Line, we would be set. However, I am not ready to jump on board sailing with a defense first guy. I want a HC to come in and see that our D needs the most from the draft, but that’s as hard up as I get for our defense. Ball control, 3rd downs and red zone production on offense would automatically improve our D. You know all of the same things, that the last coach said coming into Denver.
So alas, here is my realistic wish list for our main coaching staff.
HC Kubiak
OC Mike Leach
DC Wade Phillips
ST Kieth Burns
Second would be.
HC Jason Garret
OC Juan Castillo
DC Leslie Frazier
ST Kieth Burns
stevecan2: I don’t get why a coach has to have final say. Why can’t the coach find the best way to coach the players they have. I was watching film on Peyton Hillis today. I know …a dead horse. But from what I hear from a source close to the Broncos is that he was a good kid unlike Marshall and Cutler who are tools. Now obviously our situation has deteriorated enough to make any coach want to have at least some say but overall I don’t see why. Coach em up. Find ways to bring out the best in your team even if it means making changes to your precious Offense or Defense. Be a motivator of men.
Its fader week and you all know how I feel about that! But I must disagree with signing Champ! He is a first class all pro team first player! But I not only hope the Broncos trade him for value but because it’s the right thing to do!! Champ has earned his right to get to a SB! Trade him to a team he picks for what ever we can get. Yup I said HE PICKS!! I know this goes against the grain for most of us including me! But Champ should not only go to the Pro Bowl again and be in the Hall but his finger should feel the weight of a Super Bowl Ring!!!
Just saying!!
FTR
Now what I think about Elway and Tim Tebow time is this:
I think Elway should have been hired to control McD before he destroyed our team! Remember McD 101!! So I am all for Elway coming on board to help right the respect and tradition of this team!
Tim Tebow should play if he is ready not because I or anybody else thinks Studs is wrong!! I am a TT fan but if he starts? Let him prepare and practice as the number 1 then start him. It’s not ohh well throw him in and see what happens!!
Just saying!
FTR
I would love to get Elway in here, bring Mike Nolan back as HC, then get whoever you want as OC/DC/ST. He dominated with what players we had last year, why not do it again? Our offense is fine, we just need an OC that can help the offense in the efficiency category..
Jake: Nolan as a head coach is one of the better suggestions I’ve heard. I don’t think our offense is fine but it’s closer than our D. It seems more plausable to bring in a guy like Nolan vs a guy like Gruden given the likely restructuring of our organization. In other words a guy like Gruden or Cowher will likely want power. It seems as though our next HC will not have that power. I like it.
