Full 53-Man Roster Practices

October 19th, 2011 - 12:46pm by Stuart Zaas

For the first time this season, all 53 members of the Broncos active roster participated in the portion of practice open to the media on Wednesday.

Safety Brian Dawkins, the lone player to miss practice on Monday, returned to the field on Wednesday. Tight end Julius Thomas and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas returned to practice on Monday after missing the past several weeks due to injury.

Can we put a winning game plan together with our 53? That’s the question.

  2. orangecrushgrl says:

actually the question is….can we stay healthy to KEEP a winning game plan?

  3. HUMCALC says:

On O, establish the run & let Tebow use the rollout & bootleg after playaction. On D, blitz like crazy

  4. baylinorcrush says:

Good timing on the new blog, I can now get off the Xanders matter, no fun at all.

  5. Greatness007 says:

With Bdawk back The Move for Bush is more puzzling. But I will stop talking about it from here on out.

  6. theotheredge says:

    Bay –
    My prediction:
    Den- 30
    Mia – 10

    Thanks

  7. savinghyrule says:

I’m gonna have a tall one during this game. Not because I’ll need it to get through losing, but because I’ll be celebrating having 53 guys on the field. If we do end up losing, however, I’ll have another. If we end up winning, I’ll have another. If it ends up being a tie, I’ll have 5 more.

  8. Finneyfinstick10 says:

    My prediction of the game……
    Den:28
    Mia:7
Tebow throws for 2 touchdowns and runs for 2 touchdowns.Defense finally steps up.Von Miller gets another sack,Along with Dumervil getting his first sack of the season.GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  9. savinghyrule says:

    Den 58
    Mia 3

Tebow throws for 3 TDs (one of which is to himself), runs for 4 (one of which is after his legs get blown off by randomly appearing dynamite), but has 1 INT, at which point he’ll look at Orton, wink, and say “Thanks for mentoring me.”

Defense has 11 sacks, 9 of which come from DJ, who is playing to spite bay. Prater has a 64 yard FG while tweeting to Sebastian Janikowski, “I don’t need the thin air of Denver to set a record.”

Xanders faints because he’s never seen so much success in a 3 hour period. Fox doesn’t do anything because he never does. Bowlen misses all the action because he was busy checking into a nursing home.

  10. orangecrushTD says:

Well cheers to you savinghyrule. Very optimistic finney haha. I don’t know what i predict, but I do know that we are going to score more points than our season high which is 24. Hopefully our defense can keep the fins from scoring more than 24!!

  11. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Everyone is healthy … im so excited … all it takes is one game to mess that all up but I pray for great health for our players moving on this year … only way we will stand a chance to win some games. Go Broncos.

    repost:

    Royal – 4.39
    Bay Bay – 4.38
Willis – 4.4 (according to him via ninja warrior)
Vaughn – 4.36 (thats his lowest I believe)

So technically Vaughn is the fastest but also royal ran that 4.39 in combine but his low is a 4.32 … so It could be said royal is the fastest but I love how fast Vaughn runs … man can catch anyone and take anything to the house. So they are all in the same speed range. And Champ in his prime ran like a 4.28 or something … not no more tho lol.

    Later days, TRB out –

  12. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Greatest the move for bush is beyond puzzling … not only did we have safeties in house and Mcbath waiting … but Dawk made it back … add the fact that Bay Bay is britol and I think Eron shoulda been the one moved up but we will see how the whole Bush thing plays out. He is an undrafted Safety … they must have seen somethign of him that made them think VERY highly of him. TRB

  13. Greatness007 says:

If you missed the j/k I said about the Eron Riley thing here it goes.

I just thought of something that might have went under the radar. What if the Jets called about Lloyd and couldn’t get a deal. Then X( as stupid as we believe he is) Told the Jets about Riley and how we would bring him up if Brandon Leaves. Then the Jets go and get him. lmao

  14. armadillo_orton says:

27-17 Denver over Miami, tebow 321 yards passing, 67 rushing, 2 passing td’s, 1 rushing td… My former prediction before the Lloyd trade… I’ll stick to the score, and hope for the rest… If we start winning games, I give mad props to ALLEN & TEBOW..

  15. fansince77 says:

One thing I love about the NFL is how things can change in just a few weeks: who can forget our 6-0 start a few years back.

Now imagine if KC beats Oak this week and we go on a 3 game winning streak (which would include a win in Oak) — talk in the AFC West would be an AWEFUL lot of fun then (especially if KC came out 4-4).

Anyway, just fun food for thought. I would be in 7th heaven if after week 9 this was the AFC West:
    San Diego 5-3; Denver 4-4; Kansas 4-4; Oakland 4-4

  16. oldsouthstander says:

Broncos 0-7 at Miami. I want the Broncos to win, but they’ve lost before when they were a much superior team:
    Fins 17
    Broncos 16

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Pretty slick oldsouth, taking the better odds for points but only one point loss to keep you off the WOS.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

Savinghyrule, good thing you made an earlier pick since I most likely would of thrown this one to the garbage, LOL.

  19. royalbroncofan1 says:

Chant to listen for from the crowd after Moore commits his third turnover:

“We want Orton, We want Orton”!!! LOL!

  20. royalbroncofan1 says:

Tony Sparano is the face on the sidelines of an organization that now finds some of its fans in favor of losing — that in an effort to land Andrew Luck with the first pick in the draft. Can you imagine how debilitating it must be to think many of even your own fans have become self-defeatists who wish you to lose? When Sparano spoke his voice was measured and soft, but the words had sharp edges.
“There are too many people in this building and in that lockerroom that work too hard and put in too much time to ever consider that sitting well. When you hear it, it don’t sit well,” he said. “For these people here who put effort in every day, and how proud they are to be part of the Dolphins organization, that angers me.”

  21. Broncfalls says:

When Denver wins, the game ball should goto the PR dept. of the Miami Dolphins for single handedly making this a home game for us! LOL!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  22. ElwayTebow715 says:

Man, I’m glad Dawk is back. I still don’t know why we got Bush and not a CB or WR. Hopefully they see somethin’ good in the guy. Look for Vaughn to have another pick six this Sunday. Blazin’ speed and good hands. Bailey might get 1 or 2 as well as Rahim Moore. Thomases should have a breakout game. 150 yards between them, and Decker with 100+. All in All, we win 31 to 16. Tebow with 250+ pass yards, 2 passing TDs, another rush TD, and McGahee breaks a 30 yard TD. I can’t wait!!!

  23. broncsbomber66 says:

So how many peeps picked us to lose? Ive seen 2 so far.

  24. rev79 says:

    My Prediction

    Denver Broncos 30

    Dolphins 23

First win AT Miami in 8 tries…

  25. UKBroncos says:

    The UK has faith again!

    Broncos 23 – 13 Dolphins

Come on TT, prove most of us right…

  26. O&BinCostaRica says:

    Denver 24 – Miami 10

    Go Broncos!

    I believe…

  27. royalbroncofan1 says:

MIAMI—Tim Tebow is giving the winless Miami Dolphins a welcome boost in ticket sales.
Tebow will make his first start of the season Sunday when the Denver Broncos play at Miami, and Dolphins CEO Mike Dee said he’s optimistic the game will be a sellout.

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold since Tebow was promoted to the starting job last week, Dee said Wednesday.

Because of Tebow’s popularity, much of the crowd might be rooting for the visitors. A sizeable turnout of Florida Gators fans is likely because the Dolphins will pay tribute at halftime to Tebow and the rest of the 2008 Gators national championship team

  28. BroncosLAX says:

TRB and Greatness I’m glad you guys are equally puzzled here because McBath seemed like the obvious signing and I still don’t get why he was cut anyways especially since he looked strong in pre-season combine that with how lost Carter looked when he relieved Dawkins and the puzzle continues.

Bay for the contest I assume that begins at the begining of the season?

  29. gijames says:

    #Broncos 33

    GOOOO BRON COOOOS!!! :-D

  30. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

The thing that I laugh about with the whole “Suck for Luck” thing is that Luck has come out and said he doesnt know why a team would lose on purpose.

To me that is essentially saying: “I do not want to play for a team who loses on purpose.”

So what happens if the Dolphins intentionally “Suck for Luck”, end up with the #1 draft pick, draft Luck and in the meantime Luck decides that Miami is not where he wants to play and pulls an Elway or Eli Manning?

    Told about a big backfire….

  31. Greatness007 says:

McGahee has a sore back. So lets hope Knowshawn can build off the Chargers game.

  32. CarnageBronc says:

Mostly because I haven’t been called crazy today….I will for teh first time all year join in on the prediction bandwagon…..
    Miami 27
    Denver 17
and since the vogue thing to do is predict stats….Tebow 12/30 185 1TD/2INT runs for 53yds 1 TD
    McGahee runs for 81 yards
    Moreno 25
No idea who actually catches the TD
The unfortunate thing is…fueled by his hatred for the franchise Brandon Marshall does twice the damage he did to the Jets (6-107) and gets 10 catches for 214 and 2 scores.

  33. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

After thinking of the above this morning, I just read an article concerning the same thing:

As the “Suck for Luck” campaign moves from simmer toward full boil, there’s a caveat. If sucking for Luck creates the impression that the franchise sucks too badly, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck could make an Eli Manning-style power play.

Albert Breer of NFL.com reports that some in league circles are concerned that Luck and his father, WVU athletics director Oliver Luck (who once was the 44th overall pick in the draft), could make it known that Andrew doesn’t want to play, or simply won’t play, for the team that holds the top pick in the draft, in the hopes of forcing a trade.

“Absolutely. I’ve heard that for the last two years,” an unnamed scout told Breer. “There’s no question that it could be a Manning thing all over again.”

The “Manning thing” refers to the 2004 draft. Archie Manning, former NFL quarterback, made it clear that Eli didn’t want to play for the Chargers, who held the first pick in the draft. So the Chargers took Eli and then traded him to the Giants, who had taken Philip Rivers with the fourth overall pick. (As legend has it, Archie took the heat for the move, even though it was Eli who desperately didn’t want to play for the Chargers.)

Forcing a trade represents the far more realistic alternative to Andrew Luck simply choosing to stay in school another year in order to avoid playing for an organization that he and his father deem to be dysfunctional. Indeed, there’s no guarantee that, if Andrew Luck spends one more season at Stanford, the franchise with the first pick in 2013 will be as bad or worse than the franchise that emerges with the first pick in 2012.

This means that, once a team secures the first overall pick, communications will commence with the Lucks to find out whether Andrew is lukewarm about playing for that franchise — and whether anything can be done to make the team more attractive, such as hiring a certain coach. As Breer points out, the situation gives Luck plenty of power as his pro career commences.

Of course, the ultimate irony would arise if the Broncos lose to the Dolphins on Sunday, if the Broncos ultimately “earn” the top pick, and if the best Stanford quarterback since John Elway does to the team Elway currently runs that which Elway did 28 years ago, forcing a trade just like Elway did.

  34. Greatness007 says:

What if Luck is like Colt Brennan remember him. You never know so why play yourself like that. Dave Kreiger and Andy Landell is the only ones in Den that wants that suck for Luck campaign here.

  35. baylinorcrush says:

That’s because you haven’t said anything, LOL.

Anyway pulling a 180 since two days ago you said you thought Broncos would win this one.

  36. baylinorcrush says:

And yeah, the score prediction contest is on all season except for preseason if that was your question.

  37. codybleedsorangeandblue says:

    Greatness

I know what you mean. There has been several “can’t miss” QBs in the drafts over the years:

    Ryan Leaf
    Tim Couch
    David Carr
    Joey Harrington

  38. CarnageBronc says:

I did think we would win….but man did you see MARSHALL….and furthermore…what people aren’t realizing in this whole “Suck for Luck” mess is that LUCK DOESN’T HAVE TO LEAVE STANFORD….and I am out….

  39. baylinorcrush says:

No changes to the game plan because of Tebow:

The team practiced Monday, but today’s two-hour practice was the first session dedicated fully to the game plan for the Dolphins.

“Obviously you play to your player’s strengths, and I think our coaching staff has done a good job,” Tebow said.

“But no, it’s not a different offense or a different scheme. It’s the same plays, and maybe the ones I practice a little better out here we’ll probably call more.”

  40. Greatness007 says:

Cody now the so called experts are saying a kid from Texas A&M(I think that’s the school) who was a WR mind you. If a good QB prospect and should do wll in the NFL. lmao As long as your name is not Tim Tebow. In their minds you’ll do will.

  41. Greatness007 says:

Carnage everyone knows Luck doesn’t have to leave but he will have his degree in his major after this yr. So that’s why they saying he is coming out.
Nothing else left to stay for.

A Cody one more guy we forgot. What ever happen to Jake Locker??? He was can’t miss before Luck. I have to look up what team he’s on to know he in the League now. lmao

  42. baylinorcrush says:

Tebow is going to have to pull one out of his hat:

    0-7 in Miami all time

One win on the road all of last year and none this year.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

Locker is with the Titans, the only team we beat on the road the last two years.

  44. baylinorcrush says:

Going back to losing Riley to the Jets of all teams, this about says it all:

There must have been enough tape of Eron Riley’s fine preseason. The New York Jets signed Riley off the Broncos’ practice squad Wednesday.

Riley had six catches for a team-high 187 yards and two touchdowns during the preseason. He finished with a 43-yard touchdown catch from Tim Tebow.

Tebow must be more p*ssed than us even so he would never say so.

  45. Greatness007 says:

Well maybe Matt is like Orton saying he is a great Practice QB. lol j/k

Miami is favored by 2 points. Most people(experts) are picking the Dolphins which make me laugh. Cuz they have no fact to make their claim. It’s just all they say if when asked why” I don’t believe in Tebow”. lol

  46. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, you know the old adage that preseason records mean absolutely nothing, well Miami obliged, they finished this preseason 3-1, LMAO!

  47. Greatness007 says:

A Bay they asked if Tebow had any ill will towards Royal for asking for a trade. We all know what Tebow answer was but I think they wanted a neg. sound bite. Like a pro he said he glad to have him here. Also Royal is one of his best fiends on the team. He also said Royal just wants to compete. So he’s Glad he will be throwng the ball to him so he can compete.

  48. baylinorcrush says:

Makes sense, that’s because Royal is one of the “cleanest” player on the team other than Tebow in the head department, a stand up guy.

  49. Borrachazo C.R says:

It’s crazy that it took over 7 weeks for us to have the whole active roster practicing… Good to know I guess!
I do not expect D-Thomas to have a break-out game, since it will take some time for him to readjust to the speed of the game. Just his 1st week of practice all season.
I hope to see a little more of Royal too, and of course how TT would rely on our TEs!
Glad to know Dawk is back to practice, it seems the bye week came at the right time! I certainly expecting to see some improvement on the passing game by Tebow, since he had the time and the snaps to have a better feeling of the offense and timing with the receivers… Should help a lot! It sucks we have a hard time trying to win in FL, I guess Tebow knows how to win in FL too haha…

    Broncos 24 – Dolphins 16

  50. baylinorcrush says:

But I also always keep in the back of my mind the old saying that nice guys finish last and unfortunately for Royal it kind of has been the case for him on our WR corp.
