Leading up to their Thursday Night Football matchup with the Jets, the Broncos were tight on time with an accelerated schedule.
But a short week is followed up by long one and Denver has enjoyed extended time to rest and prepare for Week 12 in San Diego.
“The fact that we gave them a weekend off both Saturday and Sunday — guys are freshened up,” Head Coach John Fox said. “We conditioned today. We’ll lift today, get a good lift in, and just kind of get an opportunity to refresh and get it back going. We pretty much just went through some things, some tweaks, some ideas we had. It gave us an opportunity to go Broncos-on-Broncos, training camp-type of practice.”
“It’s extremely beneficial with the days off to come back in and ease into it,” linebacker Von Miller added.
While the Broncos (5-5) relaxed and recharged over the weekend after defeating the Jets Thursday, their AFC West rivals continued to jockey for position in the division standings.
Oakland (6-4) remains one game ahead of Denver with a win over the Vikings, but the Chargers fell to 4-6 on the year after losing in Chicago. Kansas City (4-5) faces the Patriots later tonight.
The division title is up for grabs, but Fox insists his team’s only focus is playing well next time out in San Diego.
“Our focus is going to be on us. We’ll have a one-game-at-a-time mentality,” Fox said. “Guys came in with the right mindset.”
When asked about his thoughts on the division race, Miller followed his coach’s lead, saying he’s not worried about the standings.
The rookie linebacker has posted impressive individual numbers thus far with 9.5 sacks, but Miller says he isn’t concerned with stats either.
It seems there’s only one number he pays any attention to.
“I know we’ve got five. Five wins,” Miller said. “And that’s the most important thing right now. I just want to keep on pushing, keep helping out this team.”

Linebacker Von Miller was named one of Peter King’s two defensive players of the week for Week 11.
“The brute-force sack of Mark Sanchez — steamrollering right tackle Wayne Hunter in the process — was one of the most impressive defensive plays of the football weekend,” King wrote in his weekly Monday Morning Quarterback column. “Miller also had a half-sack (giving the rookie from Texas A&M 9.5 on the season), 10 tackles and a key tipped pass that prevented a New York touchdown in the second quarter.”
King also listed punter Britton Colquitt as one of his Special Teams Players of the Week (the second time this season, he’s honored Colquitt with that award).
“Masterful against the Jets Thursday night — and have you noticed when Colquitt punts inside the 10, he has the more-than-occasional knack of making the ball land sideways so that it rolls parallel to the goal line, allowing his cover men to get on the punt before it hits the end zone? Colquitt’s punts Thursday night made the Jets start at their 9, 20, 20, 1, 21, 19, 31 and Denver 47,” King wrote about Colquitt. “In a field-position game, which the Denver-New York game was, the starting point for the Jet drives was huge, and Colquitt saw to it the Jets almost always had a long field to travel.”

Hey yall, I listened to Elway’s radio clip where he said he’s not decided on the QB for 2012…was disappointing to me. I’d like to see us commit to Tebow so he can have the freedom to work on the passing without the pressure of “auditioning” for the QB title. Seems to me like that added pressure might cause him to overthrow and overthink rather than settle in and relax during the games.

[...] Denver will travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers on Sunday Afternoon. Even though the bolts have lost five straight games, this contest will be no walk in the park for the Broncos. The Chargers have better athletes, it’s a rivalry game and they are playing at home in front of their home crowd. Last time these two teams met, Denver made a QB change in the second half with Tim Tebow entering the game when they were down by 20 plus points. Tebow almost led his team to a last second victory on a failed hail mary pass. Now, Tebow has four quarters to work with. He had a feel for the Chargers weeks ago, no doubt his confidence from that game will double his intensity for this game, plus he’s riding a three game winning streak and playing an offensive scheme that he is comfortable with. Denver waived QB Kyle Orton. I think the team waived him because the Chicago bears need a QB and they cant trade for anybody. SO denver released him. i think thats a bad move because we play chicago this year and Kyle Orton already know our plays smh
