  1. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Haha I said it was time for a new blog but 2 sentences wasn’t what I had in mind!

  2. tnalen66 says:

Sorry but im not excited. 3 playoffs appearances in 9 years. Was Wade Phillips not availible? We hire the wrong guy again. Well in 2 years we can do it all over again.

  3. tnalen66 says:

Remember DOOM was ok in a 4-3. But in a 3-4 he was the sack leader, a pro bowler and almost D player of year. Fox runs a 4-3.

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

Fox with a new team and a new staff can revitalize the Broncos,IMO.
He’s got a great D mind and emphasizes the run game,so with a descent OC,we should be good.
That’s what everybody wanted right? a good Defense and a good running game!
So I hope we keep Ben McDaniels as QB coach,Tebow has done well under him.

  5. BeastFromEast92 says:

Doom had 12.5 sacks in ’07 in a 4-3 scheme at DE,and Ayers can be dominant in a 4-3 at DE too.

  6. tnalen66 says:

I would of taken Dennison, or the giants DC B/4 Fox

  7. BeastFromEast92 says:

Doom can rush the passer, but cannot play pass coverage.IMO

  8. tnalen66 says:

12.5 vs 17? Doom had most of those 12.5 sacks in 3 or 4 games.I want to say 4 agaist Cleveland.

  9. tnalen66 says:

I just dont remember Fox’s D ever being called agressive. It was good for a few years. i worry cuz only 3 of nine years were good years.

  10. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Its all good Nalen. Sky aint falling quite yet. I am excited about the hire and you should too, why? because its not an experiment this time. The guy has done it before, and that alone makes me happy we made the hire. Woulda loved dennison but fox was a close second and quite frankly is way more experience. Probably just went stale in Carolina, change of scenery is always good. With the right staff around him I think fox can do great

as far as the 4-3, 3-4 talk. Fox said he might consider keeping the 3-4 but he is also considering jim mora jr for DC so it depends on what mora runs. I am more worried about OC tho than DC. Also I agree that Doom is better in the 3-4 not 2 ways about it…I think we should stick to the 3-4 but we are very capable personel wise to run the 4-3 as well.

Fox said he could go either way and he’s comfortable with both alignments. He said many of the differences between the two schemes are largely “semantics.”

“A lot of it is pretty much the same,” he said. “Obviously, there are some personnel things that aren’t that deep-seated. Everybody plays under/over, whether they originate out of the 3-4 or the 4-3.”

Whichever way it goes, Broncos linebacker Joe Mays said in a tweet that he liked the fact that Fox’s football background was on the defensive side of the bal and also touted his coaching experience.

    “It’s a good thing he’s a defensive-minded coach … and also a proven head coach,” Mays wrote.

Looks like Mays hopes to be more involved next year. I hope he is. He did well on defense for us. But with Mays and DJ is ILB Greg Jones from MSU needed in the draft?

  11. milehighmagic88 says:

The thing is, if we draft Bowers he and Ayers can play end on running downs and then use Doom in passing situations only. That would utilize his skills and mask his weaknesses. He would be like Robert Mathis in Indy, specializing in rushing the passer mostly. Plus I think he’s selfless enough to only be used in passing situations. I think it will work, I really do.

  12. Crazyhorserider says:

Congratulations to our new Head Coach.

Coach Fox has the respect and support of our new front office and that is good enough for me.

Now is the time for all Broncos fans to show Coach Fox exactly why we are the best in the NFL.

  13. milehighmagic88 says:

Honestly, I don’t think Mays is that good. He’s fast and a hard hitter. But he’s very undisciplined and doesn’t seem to grasp the mental/technical parts of playing defense. That could just be me, but if we have a chance to draft Jones I think he’s about 500% better than Mays.

Then again, Jones is capable of playing inside and outside. Maybe we can have both.

  14. Asok says:

OMG, John Fox??????? The John Fox that has a 73-71 overall record with the Panthers? That John Fox? Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire! I had no idea that Elway had cottage cheese for brains! I had so been hoping Elway would bring some football savvy to Joe (“let’s hire Josh McDaniels”) Ellis and Company. I guess not.

This is the final nail in the coffin that’s going to put the Broncos into at least a decade of malaise. Myself and most of my friends who have been lifelong Broncos fans just pretty much got out of the habit of paying much attention to the Broncos once Josh started the destruction of the team.

It wasn’t fun even for the few games the Broncos won because the overall play was just so pathetic. It’s great fun to watch great football, but excruciating to watch pathetically played football. You know, like the kind of bad football played by the team that winds up with the number one draft pick. Like the Panthers for example. Like the Panthers who were lead by John Fox to last in the league.

So, say goodbye to the old really bad coach and say hello to the new really bad coach!

  15. milehighmagic88 says:

People don’t realize Fox didn’t want to rebuild the Panthers after they went 12-4 in 2008, but the GM overruled him. Their decline was due to turmoil between Fox and upper management. It had nothing to do with Fox’s ability to coach. Well a little to do with it, but he doesn’t deserve all the blame. The GM screwed that team up.

  16. milehighmagic88 says:

Just saying, there was more to that story than just what Fox did as head coach of that team.

  17. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Also the Panthers set the franchise record for players on IR last season. That IR list included Deangelo Williams. Asok if you’re so disinterested what are you doing on this blog bashing John Elway – THE sports icon of Denver, Colorado? You know Pat Bowlen made the hire, right? As Baylinorcrush might say: take a chill pill and call me in the morning.

  18. Gardenstatebroncofan says:

What do you do with the coach of the only team with a worse record than your team???????……….you hire him!!!!!!!!! Good job Denver

  19. tnalen66 says:

I dont think anyone is ready to jump off a bridge. I think some of us are concerned that we hired a coach , yes he knows D but he has 3 playoff years in nine. Even if you don’t the last two cuz the front office wanted to rebuild. 3 in 7 years than. I am saying we hired too safe , too vanilla too mediocure.

  20. denver0723 says:

I like the hire. The guy is a Tebow supporter, and he likes DEFENSE. I can live with that for sure. And the running game in Carolina was always good. Any chance he brings a guy like Stewart or Williams with him? Might be a long shot, but either one of those 2 would be solid. I look forward to the season to see where we are. Feel bad for Dennison tho, and would have loved his zone-blocking scheme.

  21. tnalen66 says:

Like the last coach hired that i did not agree with ,i hope again i am wrong cuz i want him ,like McD to do a great job. No one wants their coach to do bad.

  22. Broncos Born & Raised says:

    Tnalen66,
As I’m sure you know, we’ve been to the playoffs 4 times in the 11 seasons since Elway retired. We haven’t seen a post season in 5 years. The most time between John Fox’s Panthers have spent away from the playoffs at a time is 2 years. And he’s never had an elite quarterback, never had a much of a recieving corp apart from Steve Smith. Nalen I know you’re as big of a Tebow fan as I am and I’m telling you with the offense is not going to be vanilla with a guy like that taking snaps. Yes we’re going to run the ball more than we have in a few years and yes Tim has some developing to do, but there is a lot to be optimistic about brother!

  23. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Wow I should’ve done more proofreading in the last post. But you guys get the point.

  24. BeastFromEast92 says:

Elway went with the proven experienced HC,I wanted Dennison too,but I think for the teams sake,he DID make the right choice!
Fox has proven he can go from 1-15 to the SB in just 2 years, the proofs in the pudding,I don’t think he had much say in the way the Panthers ran things,so you can’t blame him.
I think our Defense vastly improves from last year, and we finally get a running game going, something we couldn’t do the last 2 years.

  25. denver0723 says:

John Elway + John Fox =

    2 John 2 Furious?

    John Squared?

    John to John Connection?

The Foxinator and John “The Conner” Elway?

    Fox and the Elway

The “movie titles” aren’t pretty, but they are better than McD’s:

How to Lose a Team in 10 Days

    Final Destination: Nowhere

    Field of Nightmares

    The Patriot

Anyone else got some good “movie titles” for either the new coach that is John Fox? Or the old one that was McD?

    Could be fun… haha

  26. broncos20 says:

    aha..funny titles 0723

  27. socalbigbroncofan says:

i dont know what to think about fox. some are happy and some are sad. i think the jury is still out on this one. im sure he is a good coach but he did have the worst team and that is a shock to bring him here to the 2nd worst team. regardless as long as he is a tebow supporter than i will be a fox suppporter. its that simple.

  28. Broncos Born & Raised says:

    Denver0723,
I mentioned something about the Fantastic Mr. Fox earlier. I think 2 John 2 Furious is good And the McD jokes were hilarious (this is coming from a recovering McD supporter)!
But here’s my interesting tidbit to add. As you all know Fox took his team to the Super Bowl in his second season as HC. Word ’round the campfire is we’ll be changing to a pro orange uniform in 2012 – which will be his second season with the Broncos barring some unforseen controversy that gets him fired. And the last time we changed uniforms we won the Super Bowl! All signs point to we’re the champs in 2 years haha.

  29. atwaters da man says:

    Great move!!

  30. Dendins says:

I believe in their decision and I looking forward to the next season. It is wise to go with an experienced coach :)

  31. caramelloo says:

    Asok,

Are you one of those fans that’s never satisfied? Change of scenery is always good. Fox wasn’t wanted in Carolina for a long time but he still gave his all. He’s reenergized bc he knows that he’s wanted in Denver. By Pat, Joh, the Organization and especially by us the fans. Minus you and whoever else. This is no McDoodle type of thing, no Blaire Witch Project, no Science project.

We have to give the man a chance to succeed before we label him a failure. I for one feels like he’s gonna do good, and way better than the previous dude we had.

  32. BeastFromEast92 says:

Asok,if you wanna bash Elway, please go elsewhere to do so,there are a lot of fans that idolize him, including myself, and think he will do a great job.

I love it when people come outta the woodworks,to voice their opinion, not to be heard from again!!!

  33. BeastFromEast92 says:

Fox will do good in Denver, with Elway and Xman, helping him get the personnel that he needs to succeed.Hell the man done the best job he could with what he had in Carolina.
He needs a change of scenery and we need an experienced HC 1+1=FOX.

  34. BeastFromEast92 says:

BTW,Fox turned the worse Defense in the NFL into the #2 ranked Defense in 1 year!

  35. caramelloo says:

Beast he could’ve at least told us hello before he started with the bashing. He’s probably one of the guys who was real mad when McDoodle got fired.

  36. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Haha Beast – Xman! I like it. And it is funny how people wanna get on here for the sake of being negative and bounce. I’ve had my share of arguments on here but I’ve stuck around to here the rebuttals and I’ve apologized when I was wrong. And none of the regulars here would commit such blasphemy as to bash the beloved John Elway. Without John the Denver fanbase is not what it is today.
Fox had a lot of success in Carolina and did so coaching the team with the second smalles market in the league (behind Jacksonville). That organization didn’t want to spend any money on players. You have a much different situation here in Denver where We Love Us Some Denver Broncos.

  37. imready says:

John Fox hasn’t done anything , good or bad, for the Denver Broncos yet so I say give him the benefit of the doubt until he gives you something to grip about. He wasn’t my first choice, but I don’t know jack. I do know I have great faith in John Elway, the greatest Bronco ever to wear the uniform. He will right the ship if it goes astray. I did have to chuckle when in the one on one video, coach Fox says something to the effect that he took the position because it was a good fit for him. Hell, he took the position because it was the only fit for him.LOL We’re behind you coach Fox, we’ll expect that you will do your best coaching ever as head coach of the Denver Broncos!

  38. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Coach Dennison was my first as I made very clear during this process, but if Elway and the gang believe than I will too. Innocent until proven guilty, baby! I’m very excited for next season and for this offseason to see what moves the new trio make.

  39. BroncofaninATL says:

Elway did good hiring Fox. I know the “west-coast offense” has been all the rage the last 30 years, but what is wrong with running the football? All you need is a good-great O-line coupled with a good RB and HB or another RB. If you look at a lot of the SB winning teams from the 80′s, many of them only passed for 150-200 ypg.

Plus with a predominately running offense, you get the added benefit of wearing out the opposing defense in the second half.

I think with a good running game and Tebow at QB, we will have a true triple threat offense: Running game, passing game, QB run. Having played CB in high school, I can tell you it is demoralizing to have a RB AND a QB that can run all over you.

Football is and has always been a game of aggression. He who wins that battle, wins the games.

  40. milehighmagic88 says:

No offense to Panthers fans, but Carolina isn’t exactly the best atmosphere for running a successful team. He’s in Denver now where the Broncos are basically a religion. I think he’s excited about that, and I think the environment will push him to do an even better job here than he did in Carolina.

  41. casinoroyal19 says:

I really like this one. I dont think that you can blame him for the train wreck that was the 2010 Carolina Panthers. Not all on him anyways. Jimmy Clausen was statistically the worst QB in the league last year, Steve Smith, their ONLY good reciever, was hurt most of the time it seemed like, and they just had a young and talent deprived team last year. Kinda like us except we were old and talent deprived lol.
All in all though im excited for this one. Im not gonna beat the 4-3/3-4 thing around anymore, im just not gonna worry about it. We have the peices to play both. What i would find interesting though is if he tries to lure DeAngelo Williams over here, since i think he is a free agaent this year. Him and Moreno would be a good rushing attack i believe.
Some people sound like they are about to start a revolt already though lol. Just chill out and dont get your panties in a bunch when you dont even know whats going to happen. He could blow with us, or he could win 3 Super Bowls with us just give it time before you try to complain about every little thing please.
And i coldnt agree more with BFE. If yiu are gonna get on here and talk all that stuff about how terrible something is, dont just run away and hide after you do it. We dont bite in here. Please dont be afraid to come back on here and talk

  42. milehighmagic88 says:

And by ‘he’ I mean Fox of course.

  43. milehighmagic88 says:

    casinoroyal19,

Deangelo Williams would be a great addition! I hope that one happens too.

  44. casinoroyal19 says:

wow thats embarising. should have proof read my last post lol

  45. sndvl says:

    Meet the Foxers!

    The spy who shagged me!

  46. casinoroyal19 says:

Me too 88. He was always putting uo big numbers in that offense. Him and Moreno would do great together. Although in still not sold 100% on Moreno

  47. milehighmagic88 says:

I’m not totally sold either. But if we get someone like Williams to be the feature back and then use Moreno as a 3rd down/changeup back, I think it could be a well-oiled offense. Moreno feels like a 3rd down back to me. Kinda like a Reggie Bush type who can be used for screens, blitz pick-up, misdirection plays… those kinds of things.

  48. casinoroyal19 says:

Those are my opinions exactly also on Moreno. He just hasnt shown the durability, especially with those hammys, and really the talent to be an every down back imo. But he does wonders when you get him in space. Thats why i think we should get a back in FA or buckle down and get one more in the draft. Carolina spent two first rounders on RBs in Williams and Stewart. Not saying that we should spend another first on an RB im just saying that we will need another one to make this offense go unless Moreno proves me wrong.

  49. milehighmagic88 says:

Honestly I’m glad we got a guy like Fox instead of someone like Jim Harbaugh. There’s a lot of hype around Harbaugh right now but I personally don’t see him being that good of an NFL coach. He seems to have too much of that McD-like arrogance, and I see things going about as bad for him.

With someone like Fox we have a coach who will be down to earth and tell it like it is while always staying humble, which in my opinion fits the Broncos franchise perfectly. To me he has the kind of demeanor this fan base needs.

  50. milehighmagic88 says:

Yeah, I don’t see Fox putting a whole lot on his shoulders. I think he will either get rid of him or bring in another back to carry at least half the load.
