Forward Progress

November 16th, 2009 - 5:33pm by Chris Gentilviso

Through his first nine games as a pro, Knowshon Moreno’s versatility has surfaced early and often.

No rookie has recorded two 100-yard games from scrimmage — except for Moreno. He’s also set himself apart through the air, as the lone NFL newcomer with both a rushing and receiving touchdown this season.

Moreno turned in a career-high 97 rushing yards against Washington on 18 carries. Week by week, the rookie is improving in an area the Broncos stress to their backs — gaining yardage on every play.

“There were some plays where there wasn’t much there, but he didn’t go negative,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels said. “He went, got a yard, got a two-yard gain here or there and kept us in positive situations. That is something that he’s doing better and better as the year goes on.”

Moreno’s 520 rushing yards are the eighth most by an NFL rookie through a team’s first nine games in the last five years. He has four more yards than then-Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cadillac Williams did at this point in 2005. Williams was eventually named AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Of those 18 carries, four went for 10-plus yards, including a 28-yard scamper on the opening play of the game. Moreno took advantage from sound blocking by Spencer Larsen, who was in at fullback.

Fully healed from a shoulder injury that sidelined him earlier this season, McDaniels exuded full confidence in Larsen being a piece to the backfield puzzle.

“(We have) no hesitation putting him in the game in that role because he can bring some level of physicality as a lead blocker to our backs,” McDaniels said. “He did a good job yesterday.”

INJURY UPDATE

After missing the second half at FedEx Field due to an ankle injury, Kyle Orton is questionable for the Broncos’ Week 11 battle with the division-rival Chargers.

“We’re not sure exactly how that’s going to go,” McDaniels said of Orton’s status. “We’re going to see how he progresses during the course of the next few days.”

As for whether Orton will hand over reps to Chris Simms in practice, McDaniels added that it will be evaluated over the team’s three days of preparation this week.

“He’s definitely not out for the game,” he said. “We’re certainly hopeful that we can get him ready to go. But if he can’t practice, then it will be Chris, for sure.”

McDaniels also announced that right tackle Ryan Harris (toe) will not be available to play in Sunday’s game at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Tyler Polumbus has started each of the last two games in his place.

Chargers are on a 4 game win streak so they and their fans are on an emotional high. Broncos on the other hand are on a 3 game skid and lots of the fans are reeling. One thing is certain to alot of us older fans, and I have supported this team for 32 years now. I witnessed every Super Bowl this team has played in from the Orange Crush in super Bowl XII, to the 55-10 loss to the 49′rs. I was at the Long Beach airport to welcome the Broncos 2 years in a row when both games were played in So. Cal to the Giants and Redskins both losses, and finally to the beers and tears that were spilled when we beat the Packers and Falcons. I grew up in North Dakota ( all Viking fans up there don’t ya know lol…)so the only highlights I could see of my beloved Broncos back in the early days was watching halftime highlights with Howard Cosell on MNF and then getting little snippets in the paper from the sporting news. I witnessed one of the greatest MNF games in the history of good old Mile High Stadium between Joe Montanna and John Elway. Yep, we lost that one too!. We are one of only two teams to go to the super bowl as a wild card and win. We have been to 6 (count them )6 Super bowls. Only Dallas and 1 other team (Can you name them? no not Pittsburgh! ) have been to more. My point to all of this is there are extreme highs and extreme lows, but one thing is for certain we have a winning tradition, a great owner, a coach that wants to win ( and who will win!! ), players that want to play for us, and a great fan base. One common denominator with all of our Super Bowl teams was that they played their best football in December. Let the Chargers and their fans be proud of their accomplishments in October and November we just need to get better at this point and play with the passion that I know we are capable of. As John Belushi said in Animal House ” It’s not over till we say it’s over”.

December is right around the corner so let the new season begin!!!

    Regards,
    Coach

  2. baylinorcrush says:

Good way to look at it coachemup, because 0-3 in November has assured us a losing month, so I’m all for December. May our Broncos be like the distant past this December as you so eloquently said and nothing like the recent past as we so painfully remember.

BTW, I don’t know if you saw the predictions result, but it couldn’t be helped to have you mentioned in there with your prediction of a 34-10 win over the Skins. You are not usually that way off the mark, you concern me deeply my friend, LOL, about our Broncos I mean.

  3. brian_schneider says:

The season isn’t over, last I checked there were still 7 games left to play. While the team is struggling we have the capability to bounce back. I said this after both the Ravens and Steelers games and I’ll still say it. Everyone was talkin’ about how Orton isn’t a solution and Orton can’t throw the deep ball, and he’s not a leader and blah blah. Then he shows you he can lead a team from behind, he can throw the deep ball, he can be a leader. Then he gets hurt and the team struggles even more with him out of the Skins game. Then everyone started sayin’ well we would’ve won with Orton still in. Now Simms isn’t going to come straight off the bench and light it up. That’s tough to do when you’re a consistent backup, he hasn’t played in a real game since he played and injured his speen in TB. We all saw he can do some good things in preseason, and he can move a little better than Orton in the pocket. We HAVE to get Moreno and Buck going early and often and not fumble the ball. Simms was a good QB for TB, he did well for them. Was a game managing type but still liked to take chances. I’m not kindin’ myself, we probably won’t go to the SB. Heck I’ll take a winning record over what we’ve had the past few seasons maybe even a wild card game. We control our own season, the only thing we can do is win out. Then we’ll have to play the cards dealt whatever that hand is. John Elway never thought “it was over” and that was in a game with 2:00 minutes on the clock. People sayin’ the seasons over..that’s rediculous. This is good football team just need some better execution and things.

    Go Broncos!!!!!!

  4. The JoEL says:

Am with champs, and my respects to coach…how can we sit here and doubt our team, THE DENVER BRONCOS, who have given us so much, and haven’t quit on US! yes, we may be a little demoralized, we might be riddled with injuries, but remember guys when we were 6-0, and a team called the ravens were 3-3 losing 3 in a row and playing at home against a red hot denver broncos team and won! not because they were the best team in the league, but out of desperation! and now were desperate! out of deperation those sd boys will get their asses handed to them!

so true denver fans that are willing to go to the end, post now!

GO BRONCOS!! LETS PLAY SOME BRONCOS FOOTBALL NOW!!!

  5. hrdnokd says:

I’m still trying to figure out why we cut our punter. I’m not saying that’s why were losing, but Tennesse has been able to flip the field for the last two games and our new punter can’t seem to get the ball to the 20 most kicks. Time to own up Josh, you’ve been on the hotseat but this is the first obvious mistake you’ve made as a HC. Cut the punter man, cut him quickly. Simms looked more than rusty too, work extra hard with him or we may have to turn to a rookie.

  6. baylinorcrush says:

brian, hopefully you won’t be upset over me bringing out this tidbit, I always think you are pretty even keeled about things, but I find it a little disturbing that you come out here today with your good positive outlook, when on game day, you posted the following, I know it was under the heat of the moment, but people are paying attention…

    Your quotes:

“Guess Halloween is over we can take the we’re a good football team mask off.”

    “McD I’m losing my faith.”

“We suck, guess all the experts were right. I thought they were wrong but turns out they are right. We can’t even beat a 2-6 team maybe because we aren’t really that good.”

Point is I think today the same way I thought on game day, we have lost our edge, and I don’t see the need to sugar coat it for the sake of being considered a “good” fan. I rather take a beating by the so called good fans here than to give up on my integrity in an attempt to blend in with the crowd. Not saying that was your intent, but you can obviously see where my confusion over your comments comes from. Just my two cents.

  7. vabroncoguy says:

On thing I have noticed abot this message board is that the posters have no integrity. I mean ZERO. Most of them ebb and flow like the tide. I have said all along that McDaniels is in over his head, that Orton is not the quarterback we need and that we were not a very good football team. I gave a LOT of credit to Nolan for taking a defense that was not given the tools he needed and making them play well. This team at this point is in a very bad state overall. the fan base is leaving (as evidenced by the overwhelming majority of STEELER fans at the “home” game) and the future is unsettling. Example, we dismissed Jack Williams from the team and signed Ty Law, youth gone, for a one year stop gap tht has not played well enough to warrant his signing. Correct me if i am wrong, but the defense was playing well with Williams in. Champ is getting older and is not as much of a “shutdown” corner as he used to be and there is no youth there to back him. Am I correct in stating that we used last year’s first round pck from the Bears to draft a CB. Then why is HE not playing over Law. Exactly. KM has not been impressive at all. and all of you who are praising him in this article are the one’s who say he is not ready to play. Of course he leads rookie running backs in rushing, there are no other teams forcing a rookie to play at running back. Go ahead, name me a team that has a rookie as their primary starter not due to injury. Sure Orton completed two passes to Marshall in the game on Sunday, but they were blown coverages. If he doesn’t complete those he shouldn’t be playing football. the problem is the ret of the game. He was not torching the Redskin defense if you take away those two plays. And after the Skins stopped playing rolled up coverages, things didn’t work out. McDaniels is another product of the New England system that is not going to cut it. He doesnt’t even have his own identity, He thinks he is Bellicheck. If we happen to make the playoffs, which I doubt. I don’t understand why 8-8 is good enough. We were 8-8 last year, with the potential to be better, but we fired a proven coach, got rid of a young franchise qb, and sent this team into a tailspin. Therefore, I don’t want to hear all this talk from the same people who said, “get rid of Marhall, we are fine wihout him” Who bashed me when I said Orton is not good even when we were 6-0 only to turn on him when we lost and then want him back again. Look at the decisions this staff makes. Simms should take first team reps. PERIOD!!! He should be prepared to play even if he is not going to. My list of complaints with the state of the franchise is long, very long, but don’t count on playoffs, not consistently for al ong while folks.

  8. jmanz22 says:

our broncos are not done were just gettin started our teams great this year we just havent played to our potential. Were gunna beat dem chargers

  9. brian_schneider says:

@baylinorcrush: I sure did post that. Most of the time I let my emotions then get the best of me. I won’t lie I hate losing I absolutely hate it. No one really likes losing but my whole life I’ve been a winner. I played high school sports and was pretty damn good. We only lost 4 games my entire high school career. My wife can barely watch games with me and I think my neighbors think I’m crazy. I get really heated sometimes posting comments without really thinking. During the heat the game I let my emotions get the best of me instead of my rational mind. I’ll try to be better about that. Nothing against the team I just get a little crazy. There really is no excuse for those kind of comments. Most of the time I stay away from the blog during the game for that reason even if the team is playin well during a game I still try not to blog. I guess lately I’m getting anxious, nervous, mad, happy, sad, dissapointed. I’m one of the few Broncos fans in my area. Everyone I work with is either a Vikings, Steelers, SD, OAK, KC fan and a few Bills and NE. I hear it every single day. I have a bunch of Bronco gear like cups and flags and stuff and they totally rag on me day in and day out since this 3 game losing streak. I apologize for these comments, I’ll try to keep them to myself. I still think this team can accomplish a winning season though.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

brian, I know how much of a fan you are and how we all hate to lose, what you said didn’t bother me at all, I can understand exactly why those comments would come out, so no need to apologize, not to me anyway., but thanks for spending the time to elaborate on your feelings.

  11. brian_schneider says:

Ok, so if Orton can’t go, McD already said it will be Simms. So if that is the case I’m guessing we’ll have Brandstater active for the game. Which means if Simms starts to stuggle really bad, do we put Brandstater in? Everyone would like to see him, but does a struggling Simms give us a better chance to win than a rookie Brandstater?

  12. baylinorcrush says:

As for me, I remain extremely guarded in my optimism for a division title and even for a wild card spot. But it’s one game at a time and everyone of those games, starting with this Sunday, will be the telltale of our season.

What we think won’t affect it either way, so I think it’s safe to say, that the “good” fans and the “fake” fans can all lighten up and enjoy the rest of the ride. I will, win or lose.

  13. BroncoWildKansan says:

I think everyone was indulging a little much in kool-aid. Here is the deal. We are the team we have always been. The big worry being that Kyle is injured now. Lets not forget that the last three teams we have played have been on a bye week the week prior to playing us. I truely believe that McD is not a one trick pony and will rise above this. He is young, he has been beaten down, now on what might be the most pivitol game in his first season we get to see what this guy is made of. This is for the lead in the division. I would be great to sweep these guys. Here is the kicker “we might have to do it without Orton.” How many of us at the beginning of the season would have cheered for such of a turn of events? Now most of us are worried that Chris has the ball…. A lot of things could go wrong this game, but the fans should show up no matter what. When your team is down you dont begin to real. You make sure that 13th man is on the field. You give you boys a hand. WE ARE THE DENVER BRONCOS!!! And Phillip Rivers wants nothing more than to come into our house and give us a little payback. I say Sunday we are a step faster, a pound leaner, and whole lot meaner. Smash mouth football. Last time we met we introduced Phillip to Doom. This time Doom makes Phillip his B!tch!!! I predict a huge game by the defense. Lets go Orange Crush!!!!

  14. brian_schneider says:

So are we wearing the “Mustard and Poop” colors? LOL!!!!!

  15. baylinorcrush says:

brian, the problem I see with McD’s approach to this QB thing is like he said last week Simms was not ready because even so he knew the game plan he didn’t take any reps. Now that Simms is probably getting the reps, guess what, Brandstater will probably know the game plan but will not take any reps. So, my answer is, only the guy with the reps in practice should be on the field, barring injury.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m the 12th man. LOL.

  17. Greatness007 says:

I like that post Vabroncoguy. You have been consistent with you complaints and ideas. I too said we need Marshall. When everything was going bad for him. I read the we don’t need him. Your crazy go be a fan of his next team. Just like the fan base that came to the stadium with Steelers jerseys. They are fans when the team is winning. If we’re not winning then the so called fans will leave. We start winning again. Then it was “We was just stating the obvious.” The O is better than what they are playing. He(McD) has his picks of who he wants the ball to go too. So when they were rolling the coverage to Marshall. You telling me the D was telling them to not throw to Royal?? This was when Orton was in the game. Royal was open more often than not. You telling me Jordan is a better ST player than Hillis? It is some wierd thing going on, but the fact of the matter is this. We will make it despite the things going on. I always said Orton is ok,but our WRs can make him look great. Not just Marshall also Eddie,Shef, and Gram. Gram was open in the redzone the play before Orton got hurt. He was staring down Marshall. Gram as well as Royal and being used as decoys. I agree about the sub taking first team reps. That just shows you though the O playbook is not open yet. They still doing preseason training as of now with the starting O. As of this time the playbook should be wide open. McD is staying in his confront zone with the play calling.

  18. RoyalBlue86 says:

Hey all, it’s been a while.

Man, I don’t think anyone saw the last three weeks coming. Denver has been slammed, and I think the team’s weaknesses have finally been exposed–let’s face it, every team has weaknesses, and every team goes through adversity over the course of the season. I think we really have a lot of positives to take away from the last game–yes, positives, even in a loss.

    1) Orton and Marshall made the #1 passing defense IN THE LEAGUE look downright silly, leading to the benching of one of the starting Redskins’ DBS…had Orton not been hurt, I bet he would have continued to pick them apart and opened up things even more for Knowshon, and things would have gone much differently.

    2) The offense is fine. The offense shouldn’t be a problem, and you have to believe that be it Orton or Simms, McDaniels will have both of them ready to play if need be against a hungry San Diego team that is salivating for the division lead.

    3) This is the week where we really get to know the 2009 Denver Broncos…how will they handle the game when times are tough? Who will step up? Who will rise to the occasion?

  19. coachemup says:

Baylin: I totally agree with you!! this team has lost it’s edge. But, and it’s a Big But, Oprah winfrey Size BUT lol… We should be greatful that we do have the veteran leadership that we have that can get this ship pointed in the right direction again.
Dawkins, Bailey,Holliday,Doom,Law,Gaffney,Stockley,Graham etc.etc. This team has a lot of talent and just needs to get back to the fundamentals we had when we were 6-0.

  20. BroncoWildKansan says:

I did say 13th didn’t I!!! It wasn’t me it was my daughter typing I promise. LOL

  21. broncos504 says:

The JoEL gaot me about to hit someone lol and i think he is right and the team should see this lol

  22. whitebronco#1 says:

Truth is the Redskins were the #1 passing D in the league just because nobody needed to pass against them. Everybody RUN the most and they won. And what did we do with our 3 year benched QB replacement? History now.

And many said the Redskins game was the perfect one to give Simms a chance… History now.

    Hillis not playing. History, too.

Yeah, many things happened that are beyond my logic and liking, but with 7 games ahead we could finish 6-10, or also 13-3. So it’s still up to what kind of season the Broncos want this time.

This game’s at home. We as fans have to make it clear this is OUR house. That’s the only valuable thing we can do as fans to help… cheer our lungs out. Justifying, complaining, saying “I knew it” or “I told you”… that’s all about past games and nobody can do a $H1T to change that. Season is still just 1 game past half, and a lot to be written.

    Go Broncooos!

  23. The JoEL says:

NFL NETWORK-REPORTS KYLE ORTON WILL PLAY ON SUNDAY.

  24. Broncomania56 says:

I like the fans that post their real feelings. Who are the rest of us to tell people how good of a fan they are based on their posts? I for one am one of those guys who posts what’s on my mind at the time. I have been a fan for 30+ years and will always be.

I have my concerns for the rest of the season, however I believe a victory will get our Boys back on track. We need the victory to come at the expense of the Chargers.

I wish we knew why Hillis was not dressed for this last game? I am baffled by McDaniles lack of interest in Hillis. I realize this league is about what have you done for me lately, however I am certain one fumble cannot be the reason HIllis is not playing. Could there be some lingering effects from last years injury, is it that our new blocking scheme is effecting the way RB’s are hitting the holes. I just don’t get it? Someone has to have some insight on Hillis’s lack of play. Fans want him, teammates want him, why doesn’t the coach want him?

I want a Victory over the chargers, This victory turns things around in Denver. Come on Broncos, gut check time. Time to reclaim your rightful position as one of the elite teams in the NFL. You are capable of winning out, you have the talent to beat any NFL team, rally together, relax, stop thinking so much and play football. Bring home the Victory boys, you and the fans need this one badly.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!

  25. baylinorcrush says:

broncos504, it’s like cap space, you used a heck of a lot of it just to feed us two lines. LOL.

  26. griff77302003 says:

You people understand were ranked the no 3 team in the afc , we lead the afc west and with a win this week we sweep the closest team in our division.
Doom is close to having the lead in sacks if not the lead out right . Royal ran back a punt an a kick in the same game.
Orton proved he can throw the ball more than 20 yards and I believe he has only 4 or 5 ints thru week 10 an our team has only lost 3 games in that same time span , Moreno is putting up rookie of the year numbers .
If you didn’t know better you would think we were going thru a 0 ‘ fer season or a 1 win season . I mean are you fair weather or allweather fans the fans out of state seem more of fans than you in colorado after that monday nite showing against the steelers.
Come on SUPPORT our BRONCOS !!!

  27. The #1 says:

It’s one thing to post your feelings. It’s a another to right YOUR team off cuz you don’t like the HC. If your a true fan of a team how can you say the season is over.Giants fans are not talking like us. Yeah they are critical, but not saying lets get ready for next yr. Why even come on here if you don’t like anything that has gone on since last season.?? Chuck Knoll had to go at some time. Jimmy Johnson had to go at one time. Everyone coming on here saying how long they been a Bronco fan. That doesn’t make you more knowledgeable or all out better fan. Well excuse me for being born in the 70′s. I wasn’t a fan cuz my father and his father were fans. When I could objectively follow the game. The Broncos were and still are MY SQUAD. How many can say theyy were fans pre Elway without family influence? My love go back when Reagan was still creeping with Condalisa. lol So new or old we still have equal say.

I know alot of people close and around Denver have season tickets. So to see all those Steelers jerseys in the seats. Some were the Broncos fans that wre there when we were going 6-0. To see that was sad. So yeah. I’m with Greatness on that. They are so called fans of the Broncos.

Some of you guys are ridiculous. Just be the best fan you can be and don’t worry about who is or who isn’t acting like a “true fan”.

Check out this video on the redskins game. Two things are clear to me:
    1. the defense completely broke down in the second half, tackling and assignments were blown.
    2. how is the Orakpo sack on Orton not a huge penalty? Nobody pushed him down and he went right at the legs of Orton.

By the way, the game at home this week against the Chargers is the biggest game of the season. Lets start thinking and acting like winners, cheering on the team, talking positive. I’m Out.

I love the post that stated the stats and the idea of orton.

Need me remind all of you that we beat the pats, cowboys, and chargers!!! Yea we lost these last 3 games. But honestly besides the ravens game ive seen drastic improvements. Lets not forget were a new team. AND I ADMIT I WAS ALSO HOT HEADED a little on the blog the other night but i also expected us to win the next three. Orton is throwing it deep now. I said that he needed to show me he can throw deep to make me comfortable with him and even if he didnt complete those pases im all for it. We had almost 200 yards passing , 11//18 2 td….Orton played outstanding, and if he didnt get hurt i could see atleast 300+ yard 3+tds. Moreno ran his Butt off, bucky fumbled, but ran hard too. Were going to fricking explode sunday, and shock the giants thursday. Colts will be hard, but if nolan stops Payton….We can do it. Texans almost did it, why cant we!!!!

  32. killerkod says:

I’ve been reading a lot of posts, taking it all in before giving my two cents worth…and that’s Canadian cents so prob not even half a cent American! haha

These have been three rough weeks for us fans. I honestly thought we were going to get it done Sunday and well…..no need to go back there…..it’s over and done with.

So now we have in front of us, I think, the defining point of the entire season. A loss here and we will have an extremely hard time winning the division, or even a wildcard spot considering the play of the other top teams of late. Not being negative, it’s just a reality.

But a win! A win against our bitter rivals! A win that will put us a game up and crush any tie-breakers……..A win that gives this team the ultimate boost in confidence to finish off the season strong. I truly hope this team considers this a playoff game and plays it like there’s no tomorrow.

    THIS GAME IS HUGE!

I know we’ve got the talent…….but will that talent execute to it’s abilities? It’s the million dollar question! $500,000 Canadian!

I would like to see what our rookie QB can do if Orton cannot go, I saw Brandstater in the Pre-season and he has a cannon for a arm.

  35. Broncfalls says:

I again want to apologize for the CAPS in my earlier post was a little excited. LOL

Anyways, my “anger” is not in any way shape or form aimed at wanting Orton out, or JMac to do something different, etc. It’s aimed because I’ve seen on many occasions, a team that can flat out out play anyone. I believe that!

As I said earlier, we asked for the deep ball and the offense delivered when it had the opportunity. We all know what this defense is capable of. Heck, we put up 3 solid and I mean solid qtr’s against Pitt & Baltimore. Unfortuantely our offense wasn’t clicking.

It appears that the cylinders are starting to pop but not at the same time. Close, but not quite there. I believe if and when they do, we’ll see a Bronco team WE ALL KNOW WE HAVE! It’s that simple….

I’m betting that this team is very, very emotional right now. We all know including our players that Sunday should have been a “W”. It wasn’t so yes, we’ll move on. However, I gotta believe there’s gonna be some popping going on in practice. And you can bet, come game time, there’ll be another mid field jawing session.

God I never thought losing was a remedy to winning, but what if……what if the 3 game losing streak was nothing more than a prelude to the AFC’s ultimate gut blow to San Diego. This has the implications to knock someone down for a while.

I believe they can win this game. With or without Orton. I believe in Chris Simms. However, he needs all the reps in practice. All 100% of them! I don’t care if Orton knows now that he is playing. We can not afford to have Chris go into another game cold. Sorry but Orton you know what has to be done. You’ve been playing with this frist time all through camp, pre-season and 9 weeks of regular season football. If you don’t have it now (which I believe you do) it won’t matter.

Look, there is no way Orton is going to be 100%. One wrong step, twist or tackle and here comes Chris. This time let’s be proactive with our options.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS1

First off, How in the world did we lose to the redskins???

but anyways i dont get all this talk that if orton didnt get hurt we wouldve blown them out uhh orton was in there the whole first half and we were only up by 3 points and thats only because washingtons DB’s completely blew coverges and missed assignments leaving marshall open by like 15 yards…so i dont agree with the orton picking them apart i give it to marshall and the stupidity of the defense any QB in the league can make those two throws when thers no one within 15 yards of the reciever even lowly Jamarcus Russel can make those throws…I wont believe in Orton and the deep ball until i see him fit it into tight coverage on point when theres only maybe 2-3 yeards of seperation…and hes never proven that so stick to the 5-15 range where hes excellent…but oh yeah everybody knows that now they just play up on the recievers…and last but not least once agaian the Defense was on the field for all but 8 min of the entire second half and they tired down…and sure you can put it on simms but what do you expect he probably didnt take many reps didnt get the extent of the game plan and hasent played in the regular season for almost 3 years so i do not blame him….Next week BIG BIG game with san diego for the divison we cant afford to lose 4 staight buckle down D Step up O solid special teams and lets get this W

    7-3
    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

Nice post vabroncoguy, but while I agree with it also disagree wit it

I am on of the biggest Brandon Marshall fan so we all know I always wanted him here. In my ideal world him and cutler would have been hooking up for TDs to break all sorts of records. As far as Orton goes, when we got him that was the reason we needed Marshall even the more. Would I have preferred Shanahan, Cutler and the only hange being gettign Nolan as Def Cordinator and draft more defenders…YES….Im sure many of us would have wanted that but it didnt happen and cant dwell on the past, we speak on what we currently have before us…and we traded Broncos pick next year for Alphonso Smith not ours…we still have the bears and fortunately the bears are doing worse than us. Was mad with Ty Law signing…love the age in the secondary but Jack Williams gave us some youth to fall back on and I liked his skills. Now he is in Detroit hurt for the season.

McD is a smart guy and he will be a good coach but you are correct in the fact that he lacks his own Identity, like many guys that break from the patriot pool they try to be belichek and in an article i read months back they attributed that to why they all fail. McD will be a better coach with experiance when he stops being hard head and carves out his own Identity. Took Kubiak a while In Houston but now they are starting to look more like Texans instead of Houston Broncos. And I disagree, I believe Moreno is great, his trouble in running is attributed to a play book that lacks any run plays…they are all the same thing in different packages…nothign about McDs playbook is Dynamic. And yes theirs another team that has a rookie starting/sharing caries…Beanie Wells Arizona. We give credit where credit is due and we criticize when its neccesary…its all about what have you done for me lately so that’s why to you it might sound like shifting with the tides but in all honesty, its spekaing on the “here and now”

I believe this is still a solid team even tho they have gone trough troubles…..I dont care what anyone says…luck cant carry you to 6-0….this team has skills they just have to be more Dynamic….change with the weeks…McD says we study film to adapt to the opponent but i see the same thign coming out of the play book. I will say that he is good at situational football preparation but one thing he definitely didnt prepare for was Orton getting injured cuz simms was sooooo unprepared. The deep passes to Marshall werent blow coverages…Redskins just tried to do what ravens and steelers had done, which is sit on short routes and they got burned cuz they thought we couldnt go deep. Anyway, thats my take…its not law…just another opinion on a blog….

THE SEASON IS STILL OURS FOR THE TAKING
    GO BRONCOS!!!

You don’t want us to run the ball, do you monodono?

So Dwayne Bowe is out for 4 games. That means both of our games against the Chiefs (doesn’t it?). That is great; he’s their biggest recieving threat.

There have been some interesting posts lately and the one common thread we’re all feeling is anxiety, tension and just plain rattled nerves. (And for good reason). It’s tough being a hard core fan like us, sometimes. We have a winning record so far, in what’s considered a rebuilding year. Coach McDaniels summed it up for the Defense. We really do need to get back to playing strong containment D, staying disciplined with gap assignments, avoiding over pursuit, gang tackling etc. TEAM DEFENSE!!!
You bet the TEAM is taking a good look at themselves right now in the mirror! Do they like what they’ve seen in the last three games??? YOU BET THEY DON’T!! Will they step on the field and make a difference??? ONLY THEY CAN ANSWER THE CALL!!
I’m looking forward to seeing the Bolts playing a game in November in Denver. It’s been a few years since they’ve been here for a cold game. Historically the Bolts have struggled in cold climate games. I wonder if they flew up to Lake Tahoe to simulate weather conditions ?? LOL

We will be there on Sunday to support our TEAM thru THICK N THIN!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Coachemup, I live in South Dakota and I to remember the only time we could see Broncos highlights was at halftime on monday night games.Maybe you also rememder how Howard Cosell got upset when it became known if no Broncos highlights were shown the fans in Denver would throw a brick at the tv screen when Howard was on.GO BRONCOS

didnt simms do alright when he played for tampa i have faith in him…. he will do fine against the chargers if hehas to go but still we are better with orton….. very happy with seeing him throw the long ball it looked nice… if denver can get a mixture of their short passes and the long ball the offense will be very succesfull… and the defense will get back on track look at all theose veterans and knoshown is for real…. i wouldnt mind seeing peyton hillis get a couple carries he was super bad a$$ last year, he is very athletic and fast for such a big man…… there is no reason to panick we are undefeated in the afc west and that fact mite just get us in the playoffs…. one game at a time

Chargers are next lets go 7-3 and take sole possesion of what is ours!!!!!!!
