Shane Dronett, a defensive tackle who began his career as a second round draft pick of the Broncos in the 1992 NFL Draft, has passed away at age 38.

Dronett spent the first four years of his career in orange and blue, playing in all 16 games as a rookie. He then spent the 1996 season with the Lions and Falcons. He remained with the Falcons from 1997 to 2002.

In 1998, he anchored an Atlanta defensive line that helped lead the Falcons to the NFC Championship and on to Super Bowl XXXIII, where he faced off against his old team.

For his career, Dronett totaled 317 tackles, 44 sacks and three interceptions.

Shane Dronett was a Dan Reeves player and followed him to Atlanta. It would be nice if somebody who knew Shane could provide an obituary for Denver Broncos.com.

Once a Broncos player, always part of the Broncos family.

It is always sad to see a young husband and father pass away in such tragic circumstances.

God Bless Shane, and God Bless his wife Chris and their children.
