Welcome to the wild, wild AFC West.
Only three wins separate the first-place Chiefs from the last-place Broncos. With five divisional games left on the schedule, the Broncos are confident they have time to turn their season around.
“If you are down, obviously you would like to play those teams,” Kyle Orton said. “It’s a way to basically pick up two games. You have to play your best ball every week when you are at 2-6, which we are.”
Kansas City’s overtime loss to Oakland last Sunday during the Broncos’ bye set the perfect example for parity within the division. A win against the Chiefs at home this weekend could help kick start a trip from the basement to the penthouse of the AFC West.
“Especially with the game last week, the division is still wide open,” Ryan Harris said. “We feel that we need to just win one game right now, and we have a chance on Sunday.”
Zane Beadles said the team can’t afford to look past Sunday’s chance. The rookie offensive lineman said the players can’t get caught up in their first-half record, and instead should focus on what’s immediately in front of them if they hope to make a run at the division.
“We need to take it one week at a time and focus on going out and playing as best we can this week,” Beadles said. “I think that’s what you should be doing all through the season, just focusing on your next opponent. I think that’s what we’re doing this week, and hopefully the outcome is good.”
In Orton’s mind, the members of the team have to make a stand and put forth the same effort on game day that they do on the practice field. He echoed Beadles’ message, saying the only way to prove his team’s worth was one week at a time.
“That’s on us to go out and play well, and do that every week,” the quarterback said. “I don’t think we can sit and say we are going to play better in second half, we have to play better against Kansas City, and then once we do that — if we can get a win — we will see what we can do from there on out.”
ACTIVE AGAIN
Lance Ball bided his time. After filling out a spot on the active roster for the first two games this season, he found himself on the practice squad for the next six.
But after the bye week, the coaching staff decided to give him a shot. One day after the team signed Daniel Coats, it chose to waive the tight end and elevate Ball in his place after several teams expressed interest in the second-year running back.
“We have spent a lot of time with Lance. We like the way he has progressed in our system, and you have to make a choice sometimes,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels said. “You have invested a lot of time and effort into him (and) he has invested a lot of time and effort into our system.”
Robert Ayers (foot) and Andre’ Goodman (hip) did not practice on Wednesday, while Darcel McBath (ankle), Kevin Vickerson (groin) and Wesley Woodyard (hamstring) were limited in practice.
For the Chiefs, S Kendrick Lewis (hamstring), WR Dexter McCluster (ankle) and G Brian Waters (shoulder) were limited in practice.

aww snap, we got dline men intercepting now? nice lol. I would hate to be a NFL player, always wanted to be but the way coats was signed one day and cut the next, life of a player is tough lol….of course that woulda never happened to me because I woulda been awesome LOL.
Once we lost to the raiders I saw this season as lost more than i already did. Because winning within our division was the only way to stay afloat. We are in for a tough second half and not unless something miraculous happened over the bye, this team is in a heap of trouble.
I do like how the have shown Tebow and Decker these past two practices. There chemistry was amazing in preseason (granted it was preseason). Maybe we will see some of them this sunday. Would make me happy. I already think we are done for but seeing the younger talent play will give me something to cheer about.
Shawne Merriman leaves Bills practice with a calf injury, I thought that was funny.
I tried this a few days ago, but I thought I’d try again for more responses . . .
My wife and I are flying to Denver on Sunday morning for the KC game, then flying home to Seattle right after the game. A 20+ hour adventure for the Orange and Blue.
Any tips about ways to get from DIA to the stadium, can’t-miss food or attractions that a huge fan who had one day in Denver could use? Best place to buy souvenirs? Best pre- or post- game snacks? Hidden gems?
Any tips are appreciated. GO BRONCOS
No wonder. He`s no longer taking roids.
Hey all have been reading but was censored the other day after a long blogg on my part guess the moderators didn’t apreciate me saying this bronco season sucks. oops not trying to get censored again.
Any way have been reading a good bit of the posts expecialy the regulars but havn’t really been that excited about the way things are looking and didn’t just want to jump in and get on every bandwagon going.
This season is really dissapointing in so many ways but that is football and it has realy been since the early 90′s that we were this bad and I wasn’t realy watching alot of football back then so don’t even realy know if that is true hard for an Elway team to be ‘ that ” bad. LOL
well I haven’t decided wether to post a score this week I absolutly refuse to post one if I am convinced the broncos are going to lose I will not post against them LOL too much coolaid.
So it was hopeful that dallas ran Wade Phillips out of town at least if we only win one or two more games I should not have to endure another season and worse than that another draft under MCD especialy with a high pick.
We need Defense and a good SEC back that can run. LMAO
Would love to see Moreno turn it around like Mcfadden has here in oakland.
I think the line is what it needs to be now if only they could run the right system for the personel we have on the line and at RB.
That goes to caoching and my coolaid cup is fresh out!!!!
So Bay I will wait on the score.
Whats up????
Ben, let me give you a bit of a barometer on the Bronco fans right now, it is pretty stunning but obviously not all that surprising:
Out of 18 picks, 10 of them pick us to lose, or over 55%!!!
That my friend has never even remotely happened here, the worse I have seen is like 25% guessing us to lose, not more than half. It is obviously a very sad time for all of us and all we can do is hope that this Sunday will be an ANY GIVEN SUNDAY kind of day. That’s unfortunately all I have left to hang onto these days, very sad. BTW, glad to see you poked you nose out here again.
Thanx for saying hey Bay!!
Yeah Im definatly not convinced I even want to spen my sunday afternoon watching this version of the Denver Broncos LOL and that kills me I of course have little else to do on sunday afternoon and everyone I know has been trained to not bother me for those three hours so watch I will!!!????
But I REFUSE to pick if I am convinced they are going to lose and my coolaid cup is EMPTY darn thing lol so what is the purpose of choosing them to lose?? I just dont see it so I have to think on it/
The futility around here has me laughing to myself in a sinster bad way.
The more I laugh thinking about this team the madder I get!!!
PS liked your post on hillis just read it MCD and whoever is scouting talent for this version of the Broncos realy needs to be sent packing ie wade phillips and he by the way only had one loseing season (with the Broncos) before this year but Jerry jones is an owner who wants to win at all costs and when it Quacks like a duck Jerry did the right thing. So I’m hopeing Bowlen is takeing notes
What happened to the BQ pics?!? Oh yeah, Hillis. Hahaha. Well, on a positive note seems like we are the healthiest we’ve been all year! Yay
Stay Healthy, Go Broncos!!
Someone mentioned we are 2 penalties away from being 4-4! We are 1 penalty away from being 1-7. Arghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
hahaha sndvl on both post i see your sense of humor is intact hilarious
i see from the latest new story that the offensive line carousel is continuing. some more shifting on the line. Sigh at least Harris is back in there, that man is solid, why he was sitting is beyond this. This maybe their best formula yet but im pretty sure with all the changes this season they have tried this oline formula at least once before, 2nd/3rd times the charm lol
Correct, I don’t even pay attention to that we are so close argument, I buy yours instead, we only won one game outright against Seattle, the other one at Tennessee was a collection of good breaks for us and bad breaks for them and we ended up on top, that’s about it, 4-4 !?!? Talk about looking at the glass overflowing, LOL.
I have never predicted a score on here but there’s a first time for everything. Hope I’m wrong.
31-13 Chiefs
michaellaughs – congrats on getting to go to the game!
Best place to shop for souvenirs is at the stadium store, it’s like (for me at least) the proverbial “kid in a candy store” feeling, seriously, but – most importantly, DO NOT attempt to go to the stadium store during the game (which is located on the very south side of the stadium by the way)… 3 or 4 hours before the game, would be ideal, if you only have the one day…. Other than that, bring layers to stay warm, and drink and eat as much as you can before you go in, it’s expensive nowadays.
Man, I won’t lose hope fellas (and ladies)!!! + We still have half a season to go, if We end up 1-1 in the Division after Sunday, exactly like Orton said – We’ll see where We can go from there. ( =
We’re feelin’ healthy, focused, confident (that We still have 5 divisional games to determine Our own fate) and I would imagine as adequately pi$$ed off as We should darn well be, so Go Broncos!!
i hear you trb. iv been loving the tebow and decker picks as well. it may be false hope, but they give me hope that we will see them playing in games soon enough
Well since last blog was about the Browns having Hillis, I thought we might as well follow up in this one with the Chiefs delighted to have Wiegmann:
“Oh man, we’ve been so fortunate to have Casey here. He’s done a tremendous job for us,” Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel said. “He’s been leading since the day he stepped in the weight room this offseason, I don’t think he missed a single offseason workout, so he’s a guy that has added a tremendous amount of leadership, and shown our young guys what it takes to be successful in the NFL.”
Kansas City coach Todd Haley, who first met Wiegmann in 1996 when Wiegmann spent the first of his two seasons with the New York Jets, said Wiegmann has been a perfect fit both on the field and in the locker room for the Chiefs.
“I can’t put anyone as more important to us as a team than Casey,” Haley said. “You didn’t see any slow down from him. He’s always going to be a little undersized for an interior offensive lineman, but he never let that get in his way.”
That about wraps this up, LOL.
For all the bloggers who want to find out what kind of posters they are, read the following, it’s hilarious and accurate as heck:

Click on this link you won’t be sorry, LOL.
Chiefs 45
Broncos 10
Being a newbie hear I have never posted my game score pick before so to see how I stack up here goes 31-17 broncos somehow they pull together and put up a w
I couldn’t really identify with one of the categories on that link.
26-17 Broncos.
78-27 if tebow starts XD HAHA jk..I wish though…TEBOW TIME!
Bout time they moved Beadles to left guard and put Harris back as the starting right tackle.
Some of you had talked about that being a good idea, and perhaps they listened. Clady, Beadles, Walton, Kuper, Harris. I like it.
27-24 Broncos. We need something special to happen. It is a long shot, but I root for my team to win.
Go Broncos!!!!!
P.S. Tebow time? It would be kinda nice.
Good for a change. Thursday night football.
Denver0723, I feel that if we lose this game then any dreams of this team getting to the playoffs are shattered. So I feel that would be the time to start Tebow. But I have the feeling that it won’t happen. Our coach will stubbornly stand behind Orton. For what reason I don’t know but I think that is what will happen. But in reality Orton has played pretty darn well. Of course, he does fall down when a defender breathes on him and has some late turnovers that have hurt us. But other than that he has done well. However, I’m all for putting Tebow in more often and maybe even lettting him throw the ball. lol
as I sip the koolaid I realize we are only 8 wins away from the playoffs, and good to see this is the “easy” part of our season so should be no sweat right?? well maybe not but with Christmas right around the corner was hoping for something good, like maybe putting a big ribbon on McD and leaving him out in front of the salvation army, must be the koolaid kicking in. I would be happy just to see us play a strong game against KC this weekend, whether we play TT or not. Waiting to see if South Park comes up with an episode for this season, after all Fairplay is just a few hours down the road and they love their Broncos, as we all do here.
GO BRONCOS
Crap bay…I was going mention Wiegmann in the Hillis blog too. Thought it inappropriate. However I have mentioned the O-line on several occasions and thought we should have considered Kevin Mawae at one point. I know the CBA and Mawae’s former position with the players assn probably prevented any consideration for him. Even though he is a 13 or 14 year guy he was still a viable solution in my opinion. He did go to the Pro Bowl 2 years ago I thought.
31-17 Chiefs
I was against getting rid of Weigmann from the beginning, but some on here said he was too small and too old. What say ye now?
BFE
raidrhadr……..We signed J.Williams NT to a multimillion dollar contract, but nobody wanted Mawae, because he was too old.LOL.
denver0723, I already got you down with your earlier 30-24 Bronco win pick.
If Beadles don’t play up to par the rest of the year,he will be a bust, and then we will have to find a LT somewhere.Clady,Harris,Kuper, and Walton are all fine with me,but I think Beadles is underachieving for a 2nd round pick.
Sure wished we would’ve taken Pouncey with our 1st pisk tho!
I know Thomas will be great, but we needed a great Center, and got a pretty good one instead.IMO
BFE, we were thinking that way when we bought that McD needed bigger bodies to work his power blocking scheme, now that we know it isn’t working even with bigger bodies we have the right to lament about letting Wiegmann go, LOL.
And what’s a pisk? LOL.
Ok Bay……a pisk is a wasted 1st round pick.LOL
And we have a lot of pisks so far.LOL.
We didn’t do that good with the 5 1st round picks:
Moreno
Ayers
Phonzy
Tebow
Thomas
Can you imagine what kind of Defense we could have built with those picks, just saying.
Guys, I found a pretty new astute name for McD on the blogosphere:
McDone.
We all knew Beadles was a reach at 2nd round, he was projected 3rd/4th. That should tell ya something lol. But in a right scheme he may turn out to be a beast and a steal. bet u if we traded him he would become one of the premiere “?????” (dunno what position he plays, seems to have played em all this year on the line lol)
Blaze saw the video on tebow, watched it all. I think the kid is just blessed for those who believe in that kind of stuff. His time will come. He will get his
Funny thing is i actually think we can beat the chiefs, they should and probably will demolish us but i believe we can beat em. So im gonna be one of the few to say we win even tho i dont believe it my self lol.
Broncos Win 26-21. (I think we will see Tebow pass out of the wildhorse/swamp/wateva this game)
Ha ha he is done.
I can see the Broncos putting in a good fight early on Sunday assuming they actually make an effort. But I think the Chiefs will run away with it in the 2nd half 34-17.
It’s sad, but for the first time in my life I’m being 100% objective about my Broncos predictions instead of just assuming they’ll win every time…
I think someone just kicked over my cup of kool aid and it stained the carpet
I agree milehighmagic88,
however, suddenly tebow is waiting in the shadows with a rug doctor to help clean up the spilt koolaid
mhm88…..It stained the entire Denver Broncos Organization.
Blaze…I think we need to spike the Kool-Aid with some TT.LOL
I looked and I looked and I looked all over my pantry, and by golly all my kool-aid was gone. The Broncos will start their typical slow start, and by the time the offense gets moving the Chiefs will be up by 17-0. Maybe the Chiefs will be merciful after 34-10, but it is a divisional game. Here is hoping that after the Chiefs put up 41, that McDaniels will follow in Wade Phillips’ footsteps on Monday.
Broncos 30 Chiefs 10, and Tebow throws a touchdown to Thomas, Moreno runs for…let’s say 97 odd yards and a touch, and Orton throws a deep ball to Loyd for a TD, and Quinn plays the waterboy/ballboy/benchwarmer position that we brought him here for, and of course DJ Williams does all the heavy lifting on defense, I’ll say 13 tackles and FF on a sack. How’s that for predicting?
Like a ninja ^. Lol
scratch the DJ Williams part of my prediction, dang DUI, what was he thinking, that’s a huge loss for our defense, man, can this team hold anything together at all guys? McDaniels needs to get this locker room back, this is a bad sign is so many different ways, it’s like DJ didn’t even care about the game, or season for that matter, wonder how many other players feel that way.
denver will be the best running attack in the 2nd half of the eyar we will win the west and then rape the rest of the teams in the playoffs and win the super bowl it was all a set up to make every think less of us and then wam pow thank you mam broncos numbah 1
