First in Line

July 28th, 2011 - 9:34am by Gray Caldwell

A.J. Pierce, Jordan Clayton, Rudy Trijo, Robert Knight and Mary Lopez continued their annual tradition of lining up to be the first fans in for the Broncos’ opening practice of training camp.

The group arrived to the team’s training facilities at 3 a.m., as they do each year. While several hundred other fans tailgated in the parking lot, Pierce, Clayton, Trijo, Knight and Lopez patiently awaited the 7:50 a.m. opening of the gates.

“We just wanted to keep the tradition rolling,” Pierce said. “It’s exciting. It’s a fun environment and a good atmosphere. We come to several practices each camp.”

While the group is eager to get a look at the rookies, they are most excited to see their favorite veteran players.

“Probably (Brian) Dawkins or Champ Bailey,” Pierce said. “Also, Von Miller – he is going to be a beast.”

The team has 18 practices scheduled –- all of which will be free and open to the public.

I was just about to comment on Brandon Bing intercepting. Not only is he crazy fast but if he can learn the right skills he can make the team in our depleted secondary.

And I just saw and like i said, Ayers would be 91 and Nate Irving would be 56. Good stuff. TRB out…

  2. Bro says:

CB Nate Clements will be released by 49′ers: AdamSchefter

  3. baylinorcrush says:

I just had my own discussion with myself about Clements on the last page, haha.

  4. BeastFromEast92 says:

Did you guys hear Von Miller went from being Superman to calling our Dline”THE LEGION OF DOOM”.

  5. Bro says:

Bradshaw, Moreno, Fannin, White.. i would be happy with that backfield

  6. BeastFromEast92 says:

I think Bing and Harris(CB) might be able to take care of our CB problem!

  7. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Bay can u just try to wait and see on Moreno and not be so down on him. The fact that he worked so hard to strengthen his body especially his hamstring and recondition himself, to be stronger better and faster, the fact that he cared enough and knew he wasn’t where he should be and needed to do something to step it up, should at least ganer SOME respect i would think. I think now that he is back to a better wieght he will be good. But then again i am disgustingly optimimistic lol

  8. Bro says:

I also believe we will see an improved Moreno this year, and this new system will only help him

  9. baylinorcrush says:

Ok then, benefit of the doubt for Moreno is now granted by I, LOL.

Lunch time, Orton-B-Gone when I get bak on.

That rhymes, I should be a Bronco poet.

  10. BeastFromEast92 says:

Well LaCanfora and Lombardi agree that Kolb to Arizona is pretty much a done deal.Lombardi changed his story from this morning,he’s the one I put my trust in the most.ORTON-B-GONE!!!

  11. henryac says:

Moreno will need some help to be truly successful. He averaged just over 17 carries per game in college so he is not a workhorse back who will last through 30 carries a game for a season. Using him as the designated hitter with home run capabilities and not over-using him will be the key to keeping him healthy and productive. Otherwise, he may run out of gas before the season ends.

  12. Broncos Born & Raised says:

    Sndvl,
I agree with you that Tebow would rather take the job than have it handed to him. Well guys I leave for a double shift here shortly so hopefully some kind of good news when I get back. Get us Mebane or SOMETHING.

  13. 3rdGeneration says:

Kyle Orton will be traded. I’d bet my third born on it.

  14. BeastFromEast92 says:

I was never a big believer in using a RB for 30 carries a game anyway,it shortens their career,20 carries a game is plenty for Moreno and give White or Fannin or whoever we sign 10-15 carries a game, imo.

  15. 3rdGeneration says:

Id like to hear an update on Mebane. I just heard someone from Seattle say that the Seahawks resigning him is their number one priority. Well…. It should also be our number one priority.

  16. raidrhadr says:

If I’m the Cardinals, I trade draft picks for Orton vs DRC for Kolb. I kinda wish the Cards would shake it up a bit and entertain that. Cards fans do not want to lose DRC and they think Orton is more proven. Just sayin’

  17. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Thx Bay, thats all i ask. that wasn’t so hard was it? LOL

I agree BFE, not a big believer of over using backs … fresh legs always prevail … and the more shared time the longer they can play. Only guy that looks built for every down is Adrian Peterson. But even he aint superman. Im excited about the “new moreno” … I almost want him to change his number so i forget about number 27 Moreno. Give 27 to Fanin if he makes the team. That was his college number lol. It won’t happen, just saying. I follow Fanins twitter nowadays and it sounds like he is putting in alot of work. Fingers crossed. TRB out…

  18. raidrhadr says:

3rdgen. The update just came in on Mebane. It’s Seattles top priority to sign him. That should say it all.

  19. BeastFromEast92 says:

Mebane is Seattle’s #1 priority to get signed,so we might have to go after Franklin,Jenkins,or Bowen.

  20. raidrhadr says:

3rdgen. I’m a dope. Apparently you heard the same thing I did and I need to read better. duh!!

  21. BeastFromEast92 says:

We have to sign a DT to start,I hope we get a good one tho!
We still got a shot at Mebane, but not much, imo.

  22. Bro says:

TRB what is fannin’s twitter account? i looked but couldnt find him?

  23. BeastFromEast92 says:

It happens when the posts come in fast!

  24. Bro says:

    oh nevermind i found him

  25. Bro says:

I have been trying to get updated on Bradshaw all day and cant get any!
I bet he will be signed like Haynesworth and just get signed somewhere unexpectingly.

  26. BeastFromEast92 says:

I just heard that the Broncos want a DT and a draft pick for Orton, kinda pushing their luck,no wonder they haven’t made a deal yet!

  27. BeastFromEast92 says:

Orton has to be dealt today, tomorrow Orton’s salary will count against the salary cap!!!

  28. BeastFromEast92 says:

I’m afraid we are waiting to move Orton before we sign a DT,so we will probably be picking thru the scraps, looking for leftovers…sigh!!!!!!

  29. BeastFromEast92 says:

If Miami has a good DT why don’t we just trade them straight up for Orton,I can’t think of any DTs they have we would want!

  30. imready says:

Think about it, there’s a reason the Cardinals haven’t signed Kolb yet and why they are waitng for Miami to get the deal done for Orton. Miami doesn’t want to give Denver good/fair value for Orton, otherwise that deal would be done. Numerous “experts” have stated Orton is a better fit than Kolb in Arizona, Kolb is west coast, Orton down the field. Nobody likes Orton’s contract. Denver needs to get under the cap by Friday, is that right? Well, what I get out of this mess is that the Cardinals are waiting to see if Denver releases Orton to get under the cap. I think the Cardinals are still interested in Orton if Miami doesn’t make a move to sign him before he gets released. Miami may also be waiting for Orton to get released. Got to be PO’ed in the front office if my guess is right. If the Cardinal’s are still interested , as it appears they are, I’d be making them a sweet deal for Orton and tell Miami to get screwed. Am I right?, doubt it, but it’s fun trying to figure the whole mess out.
It will be interesting to see who gets their walking papers today, some good sized contracts should be hitting the road. Go Broncos!

  31. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Redskins reached agreement with former Cowboys DE Stephen Bowen on a 5-year, $27.5 million deal that includes $12.5 million in guarantees.

Bowen is gone. Redskins got Colfield too i believe … now talk about aggressive. They stackign up on Dline … and traded thier Dline cancer … who woulda thought Shanny knew anything about D lmao

Glad you found it bro but for anyone else interested, Mario Fannins twitter is supurmario27. TRB out….

  32. 1nOnlyTRB says:

This lockout really screwed us on trading Orton … since it has to be done in such a short window or drop him …. sigh … there has to be a way that we don’t have to release him … i swear McDaniels was the opposite of belichek. He gave a bunch of lofty contracts to bums and old players. Even goodmans making good money, and Hill, and others. TRB out…

  33. baylinorcrush says:

As I was talking about it with Atwater4HOF yesterday, I believe he is right and we all probably need to face the fact that right now, at this point in time in the Broncos franchise we are not a very attractive proposition for all the top FAs out there which explains the lack of signings.

I mean what FA worthy of big things would want to come to a 4-12 team with new management and coaching in place and top that off with Tebow at the helm a guy that most the media says is not ready to start in the NFL and may never be. While that may not turn out to be true, you combine all those factors and you can see the reality of things, we are not an attractive team to be on for players who want to make it big.

    Sorry for the reality post.

  34. sndvl says:

Cofield and Bowen. Yikes!!! At least Shanny isn’t making the same mistakes.

I sure hope news comes down soon on our own DT. Pool is starting to dwindle. Mebane, Muir, Franklin and our own Thomas. I’d include Bannan, but I don’t think he’s gonna be back. Looks like the plan might be bringing Jamal Williams back in? Guess we will know very soon!

  35. Bro says:

    Vince Young Released
I will be happy with a fourth round pick for orton or a DT, i just am sick of hearing about all this and its time to move on

  36. seweatherman1 says:

I have a bit more on the reality. Yesterday the Miami web site had a story about the negotiations with us for Orton. Today, no mention of the trade deal what-so-ever, and the story that was there yesterday is gone today. No mention of anything Orton or Broncos.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

It’s not that we don’t want and try to get those DTs, it’s more like they rather go elsewhere, I know, that hurts, but it is what it is, I lay my reputation on that, LOL.

  38. Bro says:

One source says Vince Young is miami’s second option behind Orton. All im saying is we better hurry and get this deal done or they will start turning to Vince Young! Tick tick tick tick…

  39. baylinorcrush says:

That’s the long latter I was talking about the other day we need to use to climb out of our hole, it will take time to turn our reputation around, no FA player thinks of how great we were in the 90s, it’s what have you done lately that matters in the NFL.

  40. baylinorcrush says:

See, BFE, I can go from a good mood to a somber mood just over lunch, haha.

  41. baylinorcrush says:

I bet the Triumvirate is a bit freaked out about the FA developments concerning us on all fronts, the Orton deal and inability to sign wanted players, they’re going to have to go to plan B pretty quickly, if they’re not down to plan D already, LOL.

  42. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I understand that we are not as popular and as great a destination as we once were and that we were the second worst last year … but neither are the redskins and they are racking them up. I am aware that snyder doesnt mind dropping money but those contracts, even tho i didn’t look at them, didn’t seem like stuff the broncos can’t afford. The only way a guy with great potential comes to a bad team is if he gets paid like he hasn’t gotten paid in the past. Its usually later in thier late 20s early 30s that they start thinking more about the ring. Mebane is stil 26 and hasn’t had a real contract yet … im still holding faith but if we don’t get him its fine … i rarely get wat i want im used to it … i think we will do well with or without Mebane but i would like him here and he would be a vast improvement. TRB out…

  43. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Hearing Houston has moved into the lead for Nnamdi Asomugha. Money will be in the 12-14 mill per year range. Revis makes 11.5 per year. yikes lol

  44. Bro says:

    new blog

  45. BeastFromEast92 says:

Dallas going after Jenkins after losing Bowen!

  46. royalbroncofan1 says:

Thanks for update sweatherman. Doesn’t look good at this time.
Gotta be tough for both the Team, and Orton… awkward would be an understatement.

  47. sndvl says:

Or we just put a bunch of quick lineman there and run some new wrinkle? So, 4pm eastern we will get a full list?
