Among the new starters on offense and defense are three rookies and two new players added to the roster since the start of training camp.

  1. Bro says:

Julius Thomas are fifth tight end? I thought he was impressing alot of people in camp so far?

  2. Bro says:

    Dumervil, DJ, Mays, Miller
    Loveeee the sound of that!!!

  3. marshisboss says:

Well Mikel Leshoure a RB alot of guys wanted in the draft is out for the season with a torn achilles not a good injury for a running back to have

  4. LP239 says:

Bro, by the time it’s all said and done, Gronkowski and Quinn will be outta here! Along with Rosario. We’ll have Fells for veteran presence, and Green and Thomas as beasts, but who have yet to learn the game at its fullest. I can’t wait for this season damn it!

  5. Bro –

Thomas has gotten some first-team reps during training camp, as have many of the other tight ends. Keep in mind this is just the depth chart for the first preseason game — it’s subject to change as the weeks go along.

  6. marshisboss says:

That is one strange looking depth chart but it is so early

  7. O&BinCostaRica says:

Biggest surprise to me was Eddie Royal. Top returner and nowhere to be found under receivers. Interesting…

  8. O&BinCostaRica says:

    Never mind…

  9. O&BinCostaRica –

Royal is one of the two first-string receivers opposite Brandon Lloyd. The second starting receiver is listed under the tight end position.

EDIT: I see you found him!

  10. camharland says:

Eddie Royal is listed as #1 over Decker.

  11. O&BinCostaRica says:

    LOL!

  12. camharland says:

I can’t wait to see Orlando Franklin out there. That guy’s going to be a blocking machine! I wonder why Ty Warren is #2 at NT? I thought he was supposed to be our new stud DT. Not enought practice with the team I guess??
    Go Broncos!

  13. camharland says:

    *enough

  14. Rellentless75 says:

Wait tebow isn’t starting….NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Rooooaarrrr.. just kidding but I’m happy he has the 2nd spot cause Brady been showing flashes as well..but it is only the first depth chart

  15. Rellentless75 says:

I’m also happy for rahim moore..just hope this start doesn’t go to his head but I doubt dawk and champ let that happen

  16. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Nice Depth Chart. What I would expect. Looks like Sylvester will go down as a FB … hope he pans out. Dunno what Larsen is but I dunno if I would call him a FB. But he has FB experience from last year.

Moreno starting with McGahee backing up. Like was said, he would be the starter … well until McGahee proves he is worthy of the position or not. Happy Moreno is still the starter … doesn’t mean he will get more carries but we will see.

Willis backing up Lloyd and Decker backing up Royal. I like it. Our top 4 receivers there … We really haven’t gotten a return on that Bay Bay draft. Still a Marshall man I guess.

Fells starting and Quinn right behind him. Nothing given to the rook TEs. Not even Rosario is above Quinn and he an Fox have history … Interesting. Maybe he prefers blockers over receivers which is why Fells and Quinn our 2 best blockers are 1&2.

Nate Irving is currently on the 3rd team. I believe he has alot to learn just like Carter, which is probably why he is on the 3rd team as well. These rooks werent in camp until last week or so so they are still green. Rahim starting is to be expect, so is von and Franklin.

Cox on the 3rd team, arguably the 3rd best CB … sounds like they are already treating him like a pariah. He won’t be here long. Vaughn has moved up and Syd and Cox down. Looks like some things did change. Dunno why Nate is in that starting line up. I dont expect him to make the team personally. He sucks in my book but then again he is a career nickle CB.

I bet alot will change by the time preseason is over but this first look is good. TRB out…

  17. 1nOnlyTRB says:

1 more thing. I think Kyle McCarthy is a bad safety. I am quite shocked he is still on the team from what I remember about his play. Woulda expected Carter ahead of him.

Also, McBath is on the second team, its a foregone conclusion that Rahim will be the starter but don’t sleep on McBath. The kid is very good, injury prone, but good. He might out shine Rahim … so i wouldn’t say that role is determined just yet. TRB

  18. royalbroncofan1 says:

Depth chart looks good. We are pretty young on D with the exception of Dawkins, Goody and Bailey.

It will be like almost having a another lineman in there with Fells when we run the ball. J. Thomas and/or Rosario will more than likely rotate in depending on down and distance.

  19. weareamr says:

GARY; is Ayers splitting time with Harvey? Does Havey look good? and who do you predict will start opposite Doom?

    Thanks.

    Go Broncos!!! Go john,John ElfoxWay!!!

  20. royalbroncofan1 says:

Surprised by Nate Jones also TRB… we know Syn’Quan is a ballhawk and made some int’s last season in nickel slot.

  21. Atwater4HOF says:

Irving behind Haggan? Hmm just looks like the rookies are getting slotted a little low. Which is understandable since it is just for the 1st preseason game and all. I’d expect both Irving and Carter to slide into the primary backup spots at safety and linebacker.

Love seeing Decker and Willis as the number 3 and 4 wideouts!!! Definitely my two favortie wideouts

  22. trigger73 says:

Nice depth chart.. I’m just a little confused on why we have six TE’s though. I like the move of Daniel Fells. Quinn is pretty good at special teams, but only has one catch. Rosario is a solid addition, and should know the system. It’s going to be very crowded there.

Does anyone think that there are going to be six TE’s on the Broncos’ roster in the regular season?

  23. sndvl says:

Hey TRB! Spencer Larsen? Maybe this oughta “ring a bell”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzMr9Oggjwg&sns=em

  24. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Lol sndvl I know you are pro larsen. I know u always wanted him to be a LB. I just said wasn’t sure of his FB qualifications. I know he can hit. But then again, he played FB in college and for Shanny too I believe. Maybe fox can utilize him as a FB better.

To answer your Question trigger, I believe we will carry 5 TEs. Fells, Quinn, Rosario, Thomas and Green. Green might be the odd man out. Love his athletisim but I also heard he has ball security issues. he did score a TD from Quinn during the scrimmage tho. Julius Thomas will also rise up the ranks very quickly. He is gonna be a stud for is. TRB

  25. hometeam007 says:

I am really surprised at the depth on the defense. It looks promising. The offense looks a little anemic on paper. I guess we need to see them in their new playbook. If they can run the ball I’m happy. I still think that we need a real fullback……. Larsen seems more of a jack of a few positions, not a master of one.. FB!

  26. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Fells may also not be around next year. He has experience which is good, which is why they signed him. But he was signed to a 1 year contract. I assume not unless he is super phenomenal this season, he is just the TE blocking vet we need, to bridge the Gap for the young ones, so that they can fully learn up. And if we decide to keep him longer, he is only 27.

Also if you look at the starting lineup. Most of the starters are the guys that were already here. The guys that already had the spot. Its just their spot to lose. He is giving the past regime a fair shot. Not just replacing them with guys he got, and thats good. All you can ask.

I can’t wait to see Moreno in preseason. Really hope he has inproved. Ayers too. Cuz this is their last year to prove IMO. TRB

  27. Yovi21 says:

hey what time was practice today? was it a 2pm or 8am?

  28. strandoftds says:

Nate Irvin will be the starting MLB when the regular season starts. It`s only a starting point for the depth charts. No surprises until week 3 in the preseason games. I`m not the slightest concerned, it`s far far to early to flip a nut over the depth charts.

  29. true2broncos says:

WHY NOT put Lendale White at FB??? That seems like his natural body type position and could get him on the field!!! We need a better FB than Spencer Larsen (and I’m an Arizona Wildcat fan too!)!!!

    Go Broncos!!! 8)

  30. royalbroncofan1 says:

Coach Fox stated he will carry 3 TE’s this year.

  31. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Larsen never got a chance to carry the rock much last year. I know the primary job of a FB is more blocking, but the few times they utilized him as a runner he made some big plays. He’s the kind of guy you want on our team because he can play a lot of different positions. I say give him a chance to really mature as an FB under Fox. Haggan is another you want to have on the team because he can do a lot of things well enough to be a 2 stringer in several positions. Those guys work hard and save us roster spots. Also did you guys notice that a guy named Manny Ramirez is our backup center? Haha

  32. stevecan2 says:

It seems to me that we just need a full time solid FB. Very important factor in the run game inmho. Also this is definitely Moreno’s year to prove his worth to the team. Either he is the primary back or he isn’t. Third year in the league as a RB, they prove their full potential. (not saying they hit it, but you have a firm grasp of knowing it.) I would love to here what Coop has to say about the O-Line, can’t wait.

  33. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Oh 3TEs rbf1 … didn’t hear that. Well there you have it. I figured a guy like Fox who loves TEs may carry more. Looks like Fell, Thomas and Rosario. Green and Quinn on practice squad or something.

  34. elwayallday says:

can somebody please explain to me why is KEVIN VICKERSON starting over TY WARREN… lol come baby we got be for real here

  35. Atwater4HOF says:

    I can’t imagine us only keeping 3 TE’s…

We’d likely lose Green and Quinn if we let them hit waivers. Then again, I don’t really think Quinn is valuable so that might not be a big issue

  36. tav true bronco says:

I think we should let nate jones go and let syd start over goodie, let goodie be back up. The fb situation I cant speak on but they should put the best guy there that fit the position, I have white starting at fb on madden. Our defense should be real good this year.

  37. BroncoFanJamesR says:

So far I’m liking the initial Depth Chart. I know Fox/McCoy want to run the ball 50% of the time which more likely will be a 60/40 split with pass on 60.
Plus heavy on the TE position all looks good.

I wish Fox/McCoy would try more Wild Horses formations and put Orton and Tebow in. With Tebow’s ability to run and fill the TE position it might catch some Defense’s off guard as they would not know who to really cover.
This could also give Tebow a chance to shine and keep fans happy.
Personally I’m fine with Orton, he’s proven he can throw well and if we can just give him a running game that stays healthy then we can do well this season.

  38. TTDBroncFanTT15 says:

i dont think it really matters.. orton in charge…. I hope our field goal unit is on point!!!!

  39. tav true bronco says:

I can roll with orton too, even tho im ready for tebow. Atleast till he choke.

  40. elwayallday says:

also maybe slide derrick harvey above ayers and let ayers start at middle linebacker front seven in my book would be
    LE: HARVERY
    NT:BUNKLEY
    DT: WARREN
    RE: ELVIS
    MLB: AYERS
    SLB: MILLER
    WLB: DJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ

  41. elwayallday says:

NATE JONES is trash…. either give it to syd the kid… or pick a vet like al harris in free agency and release nate jones he sucks.

  42. royalbroncofan1 says:

That’s what he said when he was interviewed week before last when asked about the TE’s, TRB.

  43. elwayallday says:

bay bay needs to get health so we can see what he is capable of on a regular basis

  44. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Relax guys. Its the first Depth chart. After only about 2 weeks of training with the new staff. Not enough time to determine much.

If you would notice, most of the guys have thier starting position from last year, or are higher on the depth chart than others because of that. Because there hasn’t really been enough time for anyone to break away

The starting position is theres to lose, and will more than likely look vastly different come Reg season.

Vickerson is ahead cuz once again, he played last year, been here longest, his job to lose. Also bunkley signed before TY and Marcus Thomas. BA also explained the the whole 1 technique 3 technique thing. Vick is one, bunkley is another … and i believe thier back ups specialize in each technique respectively or whatever. So Im sure there is logic to it.

Anyway, point is its the first depth chart.

  45. royalbroncofan1 says:

    In 4-3 system
1- tech DT has to be able to shoot b gap and take on possible double team.
3- tech DT has to be able to attack his gap b gap and collapse a gap for cutbacks on run plays. All depends on strongside formation.

  46. bronconolan24 says:

I don’t know why everybody is asking for a different MLB, cause Joe Mays is a BEAST! He knocked out a ton of people and was bowling over linemen! if he stays healthy i believe he can produce bone crushing hits throughout the season!

  47. bronconolan24 says:

^^^not to mention he worked out with Dawkins in the offseason, his confidence must be higher than ever!

  48. 3rdGeneration says:

Where the heck has Bay been all day? You can’t just “disappear” at his age without explanation.

  49. strandoftds says:

No no no, Virgil Green will make the roster, Don`t be stupid. green is going to be as good as Thomas but faster, don`t be stupid. Fox didn`t ever mention anything about how many TE`s he`d keep. Far to early to even know, stop being so naive. I`m telling ya Green will be on the active roster.

  50. strandoftds says:

Bay is on the water on his baby the Orange Crush. he needs a break before all hell breaks loose.
