Final: Patriots 41, Broncos 23

December 18th, 2011 - 5:34pm by Kenny Legan

The score has gone final here at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, with New England beating Denver 41-23.

The Broncos started off strong, scoring 13 points in the first quarter to take a 13-7 lead after the first frame. However, a second quarter that saw the Broncos turn the ball over three times on fumbles hurt Denver, as New England capitalized and took a 27-16 halftime lead.

The Patriots maintained that margin throughout the rest of the game. Tebow brought the Broncos within 11 on a two-yard touchdown run with 8:41 left in the fourth quarter. But Tom Brady answered, leading the Patriots on a 9-play, 90-yard scoring drive for the final score of the game.

However, with Detroit’s 28-27 victory over Oakland, the Broncos still have a one-game lead in the AFC West.

We’ll have more coverage and reaction from the locker room shortly.

I guess 1 good thing that comes out of this loss is we beat ourselves, and if we didnt turn the ball over as many times as we did, i think we definitely win the game. thats the worst part of this loss to me

Bad loss but we will come back next week and kick the bills butt. Horse you are right between the penalties and fumbles it was a no win situation. Maybe we will learn a lot from this. Still not bad for Tebow in his 2nd year and 12th start. Still improving and will only get better.

50% passing and 194 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns with 93 yards rushing. Bet the haters will be out in full force now but that is okay. I hope the Eli haters are out too with 3 interceptions.

I’ve said it all season and I’ll say it again…John Fox is a PLAGUE on Denver and if he’s still here next year, Elway HAS to go! Fark you and the horse that rode in on you and your mother, John Fox!

At some point…you have to look at your weakest link.

OKAY, very disappointing loss. Really not because we lost but because of the way we lost. We are better than the way we lost. Hope we learn from this and move on. We couldn’t cover Hernandez and that really hurt us. Discouraging how many times he was not covered. Oh well, at least Oakland lost also, so we still riding good.

Putting things in perspective you guys. If you would have held on to the slippery watermelon pit ( football) that could have been 21 points for you and you could would have won the game by 3 points! Hold on to the water melon pit.

If you guys stay HEALTHY and are able to get to the playoffs you can win the Superbowl. A loss to New England is not the end for you guys.

You’re all idiots if you think this is anybody’s fault but Fox’s. Our offense played our best game all year. Tebow played to Brady’s caliber in the first half. Fox keeps trying to hold Tebow back and play a conservative old school game even when it isn’t working and our star running back is hurt. There were NUMEROUS times when Tebow had a WIDE OPEN hole and didn’t run, and stayed in the pocket, because that’s what they want him to do. Our receivers suck ALMOST as bad as our coaches or we’d win the Superbowl this year. Fox is a white liquor drinking, Nascar watching, Carolina LOSER that has NO BALLS and would rather screw his mother than take a risk (even on 4th and 6 inches) than win a football game and admit he was wrong about his quarterback. We played the best offense we’ve played all season. We played the best team we’ve played all season. We DOMINATED the first quarter of the game. Tebow put up some great numbers. Our running game was phenomenal. What we LACKED was DISCIPLINE and a HEAD COACH with a PLAN. John Fox MUST GO! In OVER 20 YEARS IN THE NFL…HIS RECORD IS 50%!

    Don’t Worry,

We shall Defeat the Patriots in the AFC Championship!

He(God) did not bring Us this far just to drop us off here. If He does, its for a Reason. With that said, and since I’m not Religious I humbly Offer:

Do not focus your energy as to whether X’s and O’s(football), are or should be weighing in the balance of One’s faith or belief.

Rather, keep the nostalgia of Positive Energy (what some call miracles or what not, but no matter how it’s defined by some people), because that’s whats exciting…about Our Team, that’s US…THE FAN’s, the REASON behind, of, and for The TEAM!

so for our sakes, I say….KEEP the Hope, the Faith, the BELIEF! And let THAT ENERGY…prevail!

    GO BRONCOS’
    GO TEAM,
    GO DEFENSE..

    Just KEEP GOING…..

It is one game and just as every win is a team win every loss is a team loss. We left too much out in the field. Too many open receivers and gave their running backs too much room. Brady always has been hard to beat and we r still building this team. No one should blame Tim for this loss. He doesn’t play all 33 positions. We will be fine and I believe can beat the bills. There is nothing I’d rather see than Elvis and Von plant Ort
    an in the turf repeatedly

    JOHN FOX IS A LOSER!!!

  13. FLBroncoGator says:

Tebow played his best season along with our entire offense. The person that cost us this game was John Fox, There is no other way to look at it unless you’re wearing blinders.

  14. millerqbkiller says:

dude cool it on the john fox crap man he didnt fumble all those balls and have all the stupid penaltys you said yourself we played great in the first qtr and it wasnt untill the players caughed up the ball over and over that we lost this game. john fox is a good coach and we will win the next two and be hosting a playoff game. what more do you want.

  15. millerqbkiller says:

this loss had nothing to do with the coaches this ones on the players to play mentally tuffer and not turn it over 3 times in a row.

  16. webwork says:

you guys are hopeless man. get some real sea food in your god forsaken state. yeah, god forsaken. like tebow is the only dummy praying to god on the sidlines in the nfl.

  17. rayjr26 says:

@ FLBroncoGator…. go home troll!! we dont need your negativity! John Fox is NOT the reason we lost this game! You dont turn the ball over 3 times against a GOOD team and expect to win! why dont you just go back to hating Urban Meyer for moving on… SHEESH!!

STILL LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!!
I said it to several Pats fans at the game and they didnt exactly disagree…. we WILL see you again in the playoffs, and we will NOT lose again!!

    GET SOME GET SOME, UH… UH… UH…..!!!!

  18. FLBroncoGator says:

Even with the fumbles, we could have won the game if we’d put up more points. Aside from that though, I’d like to ask one thing. Who’s job is it to teach his team not to make stupid penalties and to hold onto the football? Also, when you’re up 13 to 7, with the game momentum in your favor, and it’s 4th and 1 while you’re staring at the goal line, you DON’T answer the Patriots declined penalty with a field goal. You cough up some balls and GO FOR IT! TEBOW UP THE MIDDLE! Again…there were several times when Tebow had half the field clear to run and didn’t because they’re COACHING him not to.
