On Saturday, the Broncos made several moves to trim their roster down to the league-mandated regular season size of 53 players.
The team released 12 players: running back Darius Walker, offensive lineman Mitch Erickson, tight end Marquez Branson, wide receiver Matthew Willis, defensive linemen Nic Clemons and Everette Pedescleaux, outside linebacker/defensive end Tim Crowder, linebacker Braxton Kelley and defensive backs Tony Carter, Vernon Fox, D.J. Johnson and Antwain Spann. The club also waived/injured defensive back Joshua Bell.
In a separate move, the team has signed veteran defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday.
After players clear waivers this weekend, the team can begin to establish a practice squad of up to eight players. Stay tuned to DenverBroncos.com for more information.

Yeah, Barrett is a possiblity but I didn’t want to say it because I really like Barrett.
Same here, but he might of stood out last year in what was the worst part of our team by far, we had absolutely no safeties worthy of the job other than Barrett. This year is all together different, he goes from best S last year to 5th this year, also I’m not convinced he is better than Bruton, but considering the investment they made in Bruton in the draft, that’s why I think Barrett would be the one to go. 5 safeties seems a bit high # for the position.
By the way, DDave, I don’t know about you, but I’m still shocked that we are only carrying 4 RB’s. No one seems to talk about that, but it comes to me as a total surprise considering all along when we were picking up RB’s left and right during the off-season, McD kept saying it was because we can never have enough RB’s (because of the injury rate at that position). It seems to me that on this front McD has completely flip-flopped. What’s your take?
He still has me scratching my head over letting Torain go. Torain had a sprained PCL and would have been ready to go by regular season. Must of thought of him as injury prone. However, he put Walker on the PS, which is good. Still would have kept all 5 backs on the roster. We could still lose Walker to some other team. That worries me. Heck, I would have brought Tatum back.
I have a feeling we’ll be dealing with a shortage at RB rather sooner than later. Did you hear about the jets trading a pick to Detroit for O’Connell? Some people are saying the Jets did that as a carrot to dangle in McD’s face for Marshall. Of course it would take more than that, but I definitely think that it could be a plausible scenario as McD loves O’Connell nearly as much as he does Cassel.
Hard to say. Denver won’t trade Marshall. As the season progresses, Marshall will become a more regular fixture in the O. Jets can do what they want but they aren’t getting Marshall. If Denver caved in and traded Marshall, it would make Denver look weak and give players the idea that if they have a tantrum like Cutler and Marshall, you can get what you want. Sets a bad precedence.
Go Broncos!!!!
We’ll have to see, I don’t pay attention to most rumors, but this one is too plausible for me to ignore. And let’s face it, Marshall is still a numero uno jerk, wether he talked to Rod or not. At one point we said we have to get rid of that cancer, I still believe that would be best, specially considering the 6 WR we have now.
I’m all about winning, whatever it takes, but I think it would be bad to bring O’Connell in. Again, it sets a bad precedence and it also means he has to learn the terminology. Not enough time to start and you don’t want to start a QB controversy. No need for added distractions. Orton is the guy and I’ve set my mind on full Orton support. Won’t entertain the idea of others.
Seeingisbelivin, waz up? Saw you posting on the other article.
I hear you. I’m not trying to change your mind about anything. But talking about QB controversy, obviously McD has made it very clear since day one he is not afraid to do what’s best in his eye for his team. I’m just saying no way I would put another change at QB past him. Maybe not for the 1st few games, but it sure would’t take too long for O’Connell to familiarize himself with this system.
anyone knows the score of the CU-CSU game?
Rams won, 23-17. Well, I’m out…
I think since coach wants 2 keep Jordan on the team he shud move him 2 fullback. I think he shud do more blocking then running the ball or receiving it. He’s nt the same Jordan he use 2 b, lost a lots of steps 2 his running game. As big as he is he shud b able 2 help open holes up 4 the otha backs. Wat u think?
Please look it up!! It is a FACT. We are undeafted at home when we wear blue on blue PANTS!!!! Broncos country please help write in until someone listens! Watch most Marshall highlights on ESPN-if not all- he is wearing blue pants. I don’t care who thinks it is silly. The proff is in the pudding.
i think denver ought to start brandstater over orton. they seem to move the ball when he is in
rocky m thunder, Orton has also moved the ball. That saying Brandstater moved it and Orton didn’t, is wrong. The D made the difference of winning and losing with Orton and with Brandstater. If a D can shut out a team, you win. Simple math.
