Yesterday in Miami, tight end Daniel Fells’ two catches couldn’t have been any different.
They also couldn’t have been more critical.
Fells’ first catch came with 56 seconds to go and the Broncos trailing by eight. Quarterback Tim Tebow fired a pass deep over the middle for the tight end, who laid out for a spectacular 28-yard catch between two defenders, spotting the ball at the Miami 3-yard line.
“It was one of those things where Tim was able to put it up and I was able to get around the linebacker manned up and dove, saw the ball and came down with the catch,” Fells said.
While Fells’ first reception prompted a full-out dive surrounded by defenders, the second catch two plays later simply required patience.
On second-and-goal, Tebow rolled left and lofted a backdoor screen pass across the field to Fells, who slipped off the line of scrimmage and waited for the ball to float into his arms with defenders nowhere in sight. He ran the remaining 3 yards into the end zone for the team’s second touchdown.
Thanks to Fells’ score and Tebow’s successful 2-point conversion thereafter, Denver tied the game and sent it to overtime.
“It was one of those things that was wide open,” Fells said of his touchdown grab, “and it felt like it took forever for me to get there.”
“It worked perfectly.”
The acquisition of Fells in the offseason has worked out quite well for the Broncos, and Head Coach John Fox has been impressed with what he’s seen from his No. 1 tight end thus far.
With his two catches yesterday, Fells now has 13 receptions and two scores on the season.
“Daniel, I think, brings a lot to the table,” Fox said at his press conference today. “He’s played the game. He’s not an old player, but he has experienced NFL football as a starter or as a contributor. Early on we saw that he had great football character, and he’s gotten more acclimated to what we’re doing. He’s gotten better each week.”

One play or one game does not a player make, haha, I stick to my guns, haven’t you ever heard of that, Carnage just said so today I think and additionally that’s what 0723 criticized you for before, not sticking to your guns, like going wherever the wind blows, not this bad boy, LOL.
OC for OC!
ILMSBFE92!!!!!!!
YOU DA MAN-BROHAM!!!!
BRONC ON BRO!!!
ILMSDB!!!!
Ok so the blogs are still completely out of control. There are still way to many to keep up with. Bay I can appreciate your take on the game, as well as everyone else’s, as everybody will see things differently no argument from me. Whether you see the game as being won by TEBOW, or won by the TEAM, a win is a win. I know we can all agree on that I hope. Tebow inspired the defense for one more play, which in turn inspired special teams, and led to a team win. I am not a fan of anyone other than the BRONCOS. I liked Elway because he WAS a bronco, not because of him. I like Tebow because he is a bronco just like Elway was. What I like most, is when a player owns up to his mishaps and takes responsibility, Tebow and the team know they have to play better, can they, will see. Bring on Detroit and lets see if we see progress. Bronco fan 4Eva.
We need a play caller that can call plays that features Tebows strengths, and something easy for him until he gets better with timing patterns and better accuracy.I think Tebow can be the QB we want, but he needs to be brought along by the right OC,and that’s not McCoy,imo!!!
Luck could be the biggest bust ever, you never know,I agree,we don’t sell the farm to get Luck,we need a lot of players in next years draft, not just one Lucky player!
Not sure if you guys saw this or not but there’s just too many blogs to go back and check…
This is for all the Tebow fanatics such as myself…

November 8th is the release date for his “Everything in Between”…I already pre-ordered mine and my brother’s
)
There are so many blogs to keep us all under control so we can’t start a blog war like sndvl was talking about, lol.
I’ll take that OC job!!!!!
My first action will be to emplore JE to hire baylinorcrush as GM and BFE92 as Bronco Beer Meister/Earl of Bronco Fandom!!!! Oh, and BFE can also be Brian Xanders boss, if bay decides not to fire him,of course…LOL..kddn..
You guys are the best!!!!
I always keep telling myself that we will all catch a game together some day… we’ll see how it all shakes out….lol
ILMSDB!!!!
OC, BFE and bay together at a Bronco game, that would be something, we’ve talked about it since last year but it obviously will take quite a bit to orchestrate that, starting with money for me, LOL.
Yeah I could see it now BFE and OC wearing their Orange Tebow jerseys and bay wearing his personalized jersey sitting in the middle,I would like that too,but finances aren’t too great for me either bros!!!
OC drinking Miller Lite,BFE drinking Bud Light, and bay sneaking in his micro brew,LMAO!!!!
Just thought I’d ask I always liked him and yes I know thats why I’ve been trying to stand by any points I make now haha
I have to admit, I thought trading DJ would be a good idea. I’m glad they didn’t. I’ve watched that play over and over and that was amazing.
Off balance, on one leg, spinning falling down and lunging at the last second. To strip sack fumble recover and give us the chance to win.
Play of the year so far in my book!!! (Bronco play of the year that is!)
GO BRONCOS!!
I know… since when we have not seen plays like this on our D?? Quite a while to say the least, D is starting to play solid, much better than previous years! Lions game would be a good measure to see where we are at.
His dive on the play reminded me of Dawkins. I’ve always loved DJ maybe it is because he is LB from Miami and I have a pul towards them but I think he has always been very good playing out of position pretty much his entire career with denver and still leading the team in tackles
When the time is right… It will happen….
I BELIEVE!!!!!
ILMSDB!!!!
Blog war? Lmao. I take full responsibility. Not what I was trying to get. Funny none the less.
I’d love to be included on the Bronco Blog Gathering at Mile-High. I know where to get tickets
*not what I was trying to get at*
I think it’s funny you all talking about a team win verses a Tebow win. It conjures up pictures of a QB passing to himself. Or better yet the camera scans the faces of the O-line – every face is of little Timmy.
C’mon guys – of course the last 5 minutes was an example of the team firing on all eight. The point of comments like ‘it was a team win’ are made to discredit Tebow – and you can’t do it! The team was firing on all eight and Tebow is the ‘spark plug’. Get used to it!
I hear that sndvl … I said something the same not to long ago about DJ … it was great athleticism and not giving up on a play even when everything said he shoulda been taken out of the play. He did the hurricanes proud on a day that honored gators … after all … Dolphins stadium is kinda like HIS stadium.
Forget EFX … guess we will have BOB (Baylin OC BFE) lol
I believe Moreno and Ball can handle the load for 1 day … maybe 2 games but McGahee thinks he will be back by raiders game … i personally still believe in Moreno … but getting Jeremiah Johnson to move up would be awesome … can’t wait for Julius Thomas to come back so we can caught rosario and move up JJ or something. Rosario sucks in my book … plain and simple.
TRB
Oh yea … how bout them ravens losing to a 1-5 Jags with a rookie QB … any given sunday … people talking about the embarassment of losing to Miami … we only had 1 more win than them … we were closer to miami than the ravens to the jags and the ravens got beat … thats the NFL. As Jim said … A beautiful sport. TRB
TT played very bad … but if u consider the 2 missed FGs it woulda been tied at half time and woudla only had to come back from a 15-6 deficit. Miami also did themselves no favors by wasting all thier timeouts because they thought the game was won. If not they might have been able to orchestrate one more drive with 17 seconds left and two time outs … after all … all they had to do was get to field goal range which would have been possible with time outs … but with no time outs … they had to sit on the ball and go into overtime. Altho throwing an INT or fumbling is always scary as well.
And clearly a team win … even the one against houstin was a team win … lead by tebow … fueled by tebow … but a team win …no one man wins in the NFL … without sydquans INT … Houston was already in FG range to beat us … magical things just happen when TT is involved.
TRB
Not to mention McGahees costly fumble … whole team, especially offense has a long way to go … not just TT but .. yup .. TT too. Cant keep shooting urself in the foot.
Just like Tebow I think Moreno needs a chance to prove what he can do. When he started at the begining of the year our oline couldnt block Warren Sapp in his advanced age… Moreno just needs to stay healthy and be patient behind the line… If he does that he will do fine.
I agree lax … line has grown leaps and bounds since the first game. And while it aint the popular opinion … I think Moreno has alot more than he has shown us … not worthy of the 1st round pick spent on him but … better than what we have seen in McDs crap system and since he got injured barely saw him this year. We will see him this sunday tho … don’t got much choice lol. TRB
Exactly this opens the door for him now maybe he can prove he was worth being picked 12th just like matthews has in SD. He has had a lot of ability he just needs to put it together and I agree this is definitly not the popular opinion
Nice catch by fells stretching out 2 make that play in the pic above especially being as heavy he is.
We just need to start the game like we’re already in a 21-0 hole. Then maybe we can play 4 quarters of competative football.
Our o-line had better have it together this week. Like him or hate him, Suh is a beast, and along with Williams our line will have their hands full this week. In order for us to win we need to keep Tebow clean and upright. Moreno and Ball gotta show up as well and take some pressure off of Tebow. I wouldn’t be suprised to see a lot of screens and quick slants. The Lions are going to be gunnin’ for Tebow so getting the ball out quickly and cleanly is going to be key. Basically the same thing every week with the fundamentals.
Nick Fairley is back too right????
The Lions D line has been tough this year…………….but one thing to remember is that teams have scored a lot of points on them so far this year. I agree brian………we need to utilize some screens, playaction, and bootlegs to be successful.
We need to get a great pass rush on Stafford……….when he’s pressured, he makes bad reads and throws. I can see a few picks for our D this weekend if we’re able to get to Stafford.
Elvis Dumervil walked through the Broncos’ locker room Monday with a new boot on his right foot.
Dumervil suffered a substantial sprain to his right ankle during the Broncos’ 18-15 overtime victory Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. The defensive end is not expected to practice this week, and his chances of playing Sunday against the Detroit Lions are no better than 50-50.
The 14.5 mil in 2011 alone man (I think) is starting to make me nervous, already missing the first two games and now most likely a third, and his contribution has been about as sporadic has a wet firecracker, very concerning to say the least.
Is the dude made of glass? WOW!!
This is disheatening to say the least.
A little more info about our “new” secondary last Sunday:
Secondary shakeup.
The Broncos made several personnel adjustments to their secondary against the Dolphins. The most significant was rookie Quinton Carter, a fourth-round pick, replacing rookie Rahim Moore, a second-round pick, at free safety.
“It’s not an indictment on Rahim Moore,” Broncos coach John Fox said. “We’re just trying to find the right combination.”
Jonathan Wilhite also played ahead of Cassius Vaughn at cornerback. Vaughn had been playing the outside left corner position in nickel situations while Champ Bailey moved from left corner to nickel. Against the Dolphins, Bailey stayed on the outside so he could match up with Brandon Marshall while Wilhite played the nickel.
Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen also played undrafted rookie Chris Harris ahead of Wilhite as the nickel in the second half.
“We’re still finding out about our team,” Fox said. “It’s our sixth game together.”
I know BFE loves Rahim but I definitely have had my reservations about him and I totally understand Fox looking for a better option now, very nice guy so I never say a bad word about him on his blog but unfortunately it hasn’t carried onto the field yet, other than a great play few and far between, one great play, absent the rest of the game, pretty much the story with him, rather see Carter at this point, a much harder hittting safety anyway.
And Wilhite definitely is the golden find ahead of Vaughn and Harris was a nice surprise too. Much better secondary version against the Dolphins than I have seen all year, the coaches maybe onto something there even if it was just against the Dolphins.
BFE, Fairley is back and was in rotation a couple of weeks ago at DT.
Good point bay… we were talking about the same thing watching the game last Sunday.
Elvis is basically a non-factor this year. Have not seen him fight off a DT with his trademark power rush move as in the past. Get’s the big payoff and become a non factor. We’ve seen too much of that over the years in the NFL.
I agree bay, players seem to change when they get those dollar $$$$ signs in their eyes!!!
We need Doom healthy to even come close to competing!
And Royal is always the upstanding guy, taking some of the blame for the first 55 minutes, like I said without Lloyd the WRs got totally exposed, they flat out stunk up the joint most of the game:
Wide receiver Eddie Royal said what was evident to the receivers Monday when they watched the tape were missed opportunities through three quarters.
“Tebow is still a young guy. He hasn’t played a whole lot of football just yet, so we have to make sure we do our part to make his job easier”, Royal said.
I thought Moore was the real deal, but you are right, his play has been poor,we need to find the right combination on the field that works, and I praise Allen for changing the players around and finding a better D!!!
Harris and Wilhite looked pretty good!!!
And a well deserved Tebow break for all the ones here who get a little tired of the one man team aspect of things:
Tebow was not made available to the media Monday.
LMAO!
You know me I like Tebow, but some bloggers talk about him and him only, the team wins the game, not one man!!!
Thanks rbf1 for the Fairley info!
Fox talking about the biggest play of the game in my opinion responsible for the comeback, biggest because it’s a lottery sort of things, you have to be extremely lucky to get that sort of break even if you do everything right, DJ’s turnover you can make that happen, same witha 52 yd FG, same with Tebow getting half way accurate and Fells making a great catch, all those things are what you get paid for, recovering an onside kick when you need it is a whole different story, that’s real magic:
“I’ve been involved in 357 games in my coaching career and it’s never once happened to me,” Fox said.
No kidding!
No prob BFE… I don’ know if he’s actually taken over a DT position just yet but the DT ahead of him was doing a good job so I don’t believe so.
But Tebow does have plenty of magic of his own, a run up the middle early in the game for considerable yardage sticks in my mind, when the hole between two defenders was so small I had no clue how he got into it in the first place and then slipped right through it, that looked like a magic trick.
And Bailey is talking magic too:
“He made some incredible plays,” Wilcots said on the telecast. “You love his resiliency because, let’s face it, before that previous drive, it hadn’t been pretty. Champ Bailey even told us, at first it isn’t pretty, but he is a magical kind of player. Kind of Doug Flutie-like, is probably the best that I could explain it.”
He must still have the Flutie hail mary in mind….
Every D we play against this season will stack the box and rush Tebow………..they’re basically gonna force him to make throws……..so let’s hope that part of his game improves
Klis is rating Tebow #22 in this week rating of the QBs, fair enough.
Yeah I liked the way Champ,Dawkins, and even Bunkley celebrated with Tebow after the win, they seem to know he’s got something!
#22 is plenty fair.
So it’s Orange Sunday for this game at Sports Authority at Mile High Field. Last year they handed out the Orange Towels for the game.
