Family, Friends and Thanksgiving

November 24th, 2011 - 2:14pm by Kenny Legan

With the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday, the Denver Broncos still had practice as they gear up for Sunday’s game against San Diego. However, they were given most of the afternoon off to enjoy the day with family and friends.

Linebacker Von Miller said his younger brother — who is finishing up his last year of culinary school — is in town from Dallas. With his brother’s cooking skills, Miller said he is leaving the feast up to him.

“He’s going to cook a little something for me,” Miller said. “I’m (also) going to be with (linebacker Wesley) Woodyard. I’m going to go wherever he goes.”

Woodyard said he doesn’t have anything elaborate planned. He just wants to sit down with the people that are close to him and enjoy the holiday.

“I’m going to go eat with a couple friends,” Woodyard said. “We’re going to get together, give thanks and enjoy family and friends. That’s what Thanksgiving is all about.”

Since the Broncos don’t have any full days off for the holiday and leave for San Diego Saturday, it makes it hard for players’ families to come in and spend time with them.

So, Wide Receivers Coach Tyke Toblert is hosting some players and their friends over at his house.

“Coach Tolbert’s having some guys over,” Decker said. “I got my lady friend and her sister are going to tag along with me and just enjoy a good home-cooked meal.”

Quarterback Tim Tebow said that his family and relatives are all gathering elsewhere. But with the season in full-swing, that’s how he envisioned it.

“That’s how I wanted it, just to stay focused and try to work on San Diego,” Tebow said. “I have my two brothers here, so we’ll have a turkey or something and hang out. We’ll be thankful, but we’ll celebrate as a family later.”

I can’t believe everybody missed it, welcome back abrakadabraham aka orangutanblu aka glasnax. Alex was right that it was just a matter of time, but he missed it when the time came, even chatted with him all night, LOL, maybe the man learned his lesson, but the style is unmistakable, you can change the handle but you can’t change the man.

Warning, be on your best behavior and you might just be lucky enough to get away with it.

Everyone around here will keep a close eye on you including Gray Caldwell I’m sure.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

This is exactly why the Tebow crazies around these parts are actually a total negative to the Denver Broncos, reactions on Elway’s twitter account about his handling of Tebow this last week:

“You know, I’ve actually stopped reading it, which is a good thing,” Elway said with a laugh during his weekly hit on KOA radio Wednesday.

Here’s a sampling of Twitter messages sent his way after he said earlier this week he didn’t know if Tim Tebow was the Broncos’ quarterback of the future:

“@johnelway i hope pat fires you and you can go back to arena football were (sic) you belong you piece of trash.”

“@johnelway You are so damn clueless!”

“Hey @johnelway you lost 3 superbowls and your team won 2 for you when u were washed up so shut your (expletive) mouth”

“How does it feel @johnelway from being our hero to be almost as hated as Philip Rivers.”

    And so on.

As I have said here many times Tebow has to be ashamed of those types of groupie fans, absolutely goes against everything the man stands for.

Shame on all those Tebow extremists!

  16. baylinorcrush says:

And Elway offers still max incertitude about Tebow long term to Krieger:

So how does Elway, who has made well-publicized trips to see some of college football’s top quarterbacks this season, decide what to do in next spring’s draft?

“I think we’re going to have to play that when we get there,” he said. “It’s hard to say as we sit here right now what’s going to happen.”

So, here you go Tebow freaks, tweet away…..

  17. killerkod says:

    Happy Friday Everyone!

That means it’s one day closer to the big game against the bolts……….So amped to see how our boys make out in this one. Just keep playing broncos smashmouth football and you should do great!

The only win I want to see the bolts get is when they play the raiders at the end of the season………….

  18. baylinorcrush says:

And of course by all that I just mean that there is only a minority of totally deranged Tebow fans, the majority of them are just fine and don’t belong in the looney bin.

  19. killerkod says:

wow bay………..what a total lack of respect from those people. That deserves the big brown paper bag of shame.

I for one, appreciate Elways honesty through all this. He just doesn’t know at this point, and is there anything really wrong with that?

The worse thing to do would be backing a guy you’re not sure of only to turn around and go get someone else.

  20. killerkod says:

and if that is the banned blogger back, I hope he now realizes that we won’t condone that type of behaviour on here and we WILL do something about it……..

  21. ScalptheChiefs says:

Yes some people are crazy, is it that easy to forget all he has done for this proud franchise?

I believe even if we do draft a qb it doesnt necessarily mean Tebow would be on his way out, but more of an insurance option or a motivating factor to push TT. Does anyone think Brady Quinn will be on the roster next year?

Also going back to Canadas earlier post about going to the Broncos/Vikes game, I have an opportunity to get tickets for the bills game and I really want to go (only an hour and a half away) but it will probably be hard to find someone that wants to go Christmas eve!! Lol not to many Bronco fans in my area

  22. baylinorcrush says:

Most of those Tebow nuts are just temporary Bronco fans though, just only as long as Tebow is a Bronco, so they know absolutely nothing about what Elway has done for us and they don’t really care, only one agenda, Tebow, and he just happens to be a Bronco now, and that is the part of this Tebowmania that has always been troubling me. While many say it’s all good Tebow fans are just more Bronco fans but it’s really dirusptive in many cases. I want Tebow to succeed so we can build the rest of the team through the draft, but I certainly wouldn’t miss all this Tebow phenomena if Elway goes another QB route. I mean at times it feels like part of the Bronco fan base is becoming like the teen girls who used to follow the Beatles back in the years, a total hysteria that is beyond me.

  23. strandoftds says:

No QB even to this day can say, That I have taken one team to 5 SB`s except John Elway. I`m still proud of what John Elway has done for our Denver Broncos and the whole organization. Even for what he`s doing today in the front office.at Dove Valley.

  24. royalbroncofan1 says:

Or the Bay City Rollers in jr high school thru the mid-seventies! Those guys were in Teen magazine every week and performing on TV all the time! Girls in school were crazy about those lads from Ireland.

I’ve told my wife and daughter not to get caught up in the mass hysteria, but so far it’s been to no avail. Well at least my daughter agrees TT has to improve his passing game, but my wife can’t see the forest for the trees…LOL!

  25. strandoftds says:

Brandon Lloyd has 26 catches for the Rams. He needs to catch only 4 more passes and then the Broncos will recieve a 5th round pick in this upcoming draft instead of the 6th round.

  26. killerkod says:

When Orton throws 30 picks………..so we get anything in return? LMAO

  27. killerkod says:

    *do*

  28. strandoftds says:

    Yeah, a good laugh. LOL

  29. killerkod says:

it kind’ve irks me that we didn’t move him before the season started…….something sure looks better than nothing at this point.

And he only led us to one W, and that was a squeaker………so the value of keeping him on our roster at the beginning of the season and naming him the starter and turning down offers for him have turned into a bust.

oh well, I feel better now that we’ve rid ourselves from this forever less-than-mediocre player for good.

  30. shaztah says:

I read that Orton didn’t show up for practice yesterday in KC. They said it was due to family reasons. He is supposed to show up today. Maybe he or his wife are mad that they didn’t get to go back to Chicago.

As far as those idiots and their comments, it was stupid for them to say that stuff. Everyone kept saying it will have to take the rest of the year to evaluate Tim so why not give Elway the rest of the year to do his job in evaluating him? In Elway’s pregame interview some of the stuff he said was really positive. I like when he said that the reason he hasn’t worked with Tim yet is because he is already getting so much information and stuff from others that it may be an information overload if he tries to step in now. He fully plans to work with Tim in the offseason and then they can go from there. That doesn’t sound negative in any way.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

Maybe Orton had already shipped all his luggage to Chicago, LOL.

  35. shaztah says:

BTW Bay, I am a Tebow fan and a Bronco’s fan too. I grew up not liking football even though my Dad and 2 uncles watched the Lions every Sunday that they played. After I got married (the first time) my husband hated sports so I spent 22 years not watching any kind of sport. I divorced and then met my current husband in 2007 and he LOVES football, college and NFL. Being from Gainesville he is a HUGE gator fan and I watched all the Gator games with him. When Tim was a sophmore in college I had no clue who he was or anything but Hubby said he was a great kid so I watched the games and listened to his interviews and I grew to like him. We still support the Gators even though he is not there. When he got drafted by the Bronco’s I didn’t really know who you guys were. Of course I had heard the name Elway but until I started looking things up about him I didn’t know much about him. I don’t know what the rules are for fans but I like the Bronco’s very much and I am also a GB fan because I really like their team. I do not go on other teams blogs and post anything, I will occasionally go on another one to see their thoughts about Denver stuff. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am a fan of football who is trying to find my own identity and my own team to cherish. All be it I have started late in life but this blog and the fans and the team has given me something to love and even if the team gets rid of Tim I will still be here to chime in once in a while but read everyday. Sorry for the long post.

  37. royalbroncofan1 says:

Sure is…. Shaun Phillips still not 100% but looks like he might give it a go on Sunday.

It’s interesting to notice that the last game the Chargers won was the one against us, followed by 5 losses.

    New blog!

  41. baylinorcrush says:

    Yeah saw that:

The Chargers’ pass rush should get an infusion of energy on Sunday – even if the Denver Broncos would love to never have to pass with Tim Tebow at quarterback.

Outside linebacker Shaun Phillips returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday and is expected to play at least in certain passing packages against Denver, which likely means about 15 to 20 snaps.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

You’re learning quick shaztah, well done, LOL.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

Other than Shaun Phillips, a couple Chargers injury report udates:

    • Left guard Tyronne Green, who sat out Sunday’s game with a hand injury, appears closest among the injured linemen to returning Sunday. However, neither he nor right guard Louis Vasquez (ankle) practiced on Thursday. Left tackle Marcus McNeill (neck) is expected to miss at least two more games.

    • Running back Ryan Mathews, limited in practice Wednesday, did not practice Thursday. Said Norv Turner: “Hopefully Ryan will be all right. But if he’s not, (Mike) Tolbert and (Curtis) Brinkley will take the load.”
