The excitement was palpable during the fourth quarter last Sunday as Tim Tebow rallied the Broncos back against the Chargers.
Sports Authority Field at Mile High was electric and that excitement was felt by everyone in the stadium — including Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway, who watched the events unfold from the coaches’ box.
On ‘Elway Live’ yesterday, Elway spoke with Broncos TV’s Chris Hall about that second-half comeback and Head Coach John Fox’s decision to name Tebow the starting quarterback in Week 7 against Miami.
“I’m excited to see Tim out there and see what Tim can bring and hopefully get us some wins,” Elway said. “What we saw him do last week in the second half — even though we started a little slow in that third quarter — he really energized us in the fourth quarter and really gave us a chance to win right down at the end.”
According to Elway, Tebow’s performance Sunday personified the second-year pro and all that he brings to a team. And the Broncos will be looking for more of the same from Tebow going forward.
“What we saw in that second half is really what we knew we got in Tim Tebow,” Elway said. “That’s great intangibles, a great competitor, a guy that can make things happen. He provided that spark to the point where we almost won the football game.”
“I think that Timmy’s intangibles are really why he’s been as successful as he’s been – his will to win, his competitiveness, his toughness,” Elway continued. “We think that Timmy can come in and do it. We have confidence that Timmy can come in and make those plays to get us over the hump.”
At times during his two years in Denver, Tebow has used Elway and his wealth of experience as a resource for advice on playing the quarterback position.
Last season Tebow spent some time at Elway’s house discussing life as a starter prior to his first career start in Week 15 against the Oakland Raiders.
So what advice does Elway have this time around?
“Don’t take the whole world onto your shoulders all at once,” Elway said. “Don’t feel like you individually have to win a football game. Rely on the 10 other guys out there trying to help you win.”
“But when you have an opportunity to make a play,” he added, “be Tim Tebow.”

An excerpt from NFL.com-
Denver trades Kyle Orton to Miami for a draft pick, which the Broncos then package along with Brandon Lloyd in a deal with Carolina for Jimmy Clausen.
The Broncos named Tim Tebow their starter this week, but this move would give them two young QBs to develop and let the best one win. Coach John Fox drafted Clausen, who started 10 games as a rookie, when he was at Carolina.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins get the quarterback they wanted before the season and the Panthers get help at receiver to give Cam Newton another target to go opposite Steve Smith.

It took Al Davis his entire career to do what McD did in two seasons…completely destroy a franchise. LOL!
No disrespect to Al Davis R.I.P
Personally, Id like for EFX to get their hands on DRC from Philly. Maybe get a 4 way deal involved somehow.
I see us winning more games now with tebow.
Out of curiosity, I just looked up the Stanford Cadinals schedule, and low and behold, Stanford goe`s to USC on saturday oct. 29. That`ll be a game to watch, Andrew Luck vs Matt Barkley. Both QB`s projected in the top 10 in the 2012 NFL draft. I`ll watch that game for sure.
On Tuesday, more than 2,000 tickets were sold on the secondary market through sites like Stubhub.com, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported on Tuesday, citing a source. That equaled the previous six weeks of sales for the game.
So I guess this is a defacto home game for us??? How humid is it in Florida this time of the year sweatherman?!

Brandon Lloyd for Jimmy Clausen? Are you kidding me? No, thank you.
Sndvl that is the most ridiculous trade scenario I’ve heard all year. No one, including Miami, is going to pay a 1-4 quarterback 8 million dollars to try to learn their system halfway through the season. And Clausen? I guess the past qb controversy wasn’t enough so let’s bring in another QB to compete with Tebow and Quinn haha.
I agree on the ridiculousness of it. IDK where these “journalists” come up with these things!
sndvl, the humidity in Dade County this time of year can be brutal when you mix in the heat index! I live near Pensacola and it is still a little rough around here. Today it is 48% in Miami with a heat index of 92. I doubt it will change a whole lot in the next 10 or 11 days.
SNDVL,
That trade scenario BETTER NOT happen. I’ve seen enough terrible trades in the past two and a half years to last me the rest of my life.
That trade scenario is worse then the Hillis trade. I almost threw up after reading that. And then I realized it isn’t reality. Thank God!
Timmah Timmeh Tim Tim…TIMMAH!!!
henryac, you never revealed that, I lived in Pensacola 16 years, we are indeed close in many ways, age, football knowledge, place of residence, too bad we didn’t know eachother then to watch Bronco games together.
And Big D, glad to see you back, a divorce can be a painful experience, been there done that, twice, first one nothing to it, second one she told me first thing “I hired the best layer in town and will take you for eveything you got”, haha, nothing like prenupt though, came through ok since it held up, but to get to the final $ separation with the business end of it took 8 years of legal haggle! Brutal!
Lmao @ baylin.
Thanks henryac!
Great to see you back Big D!!!
bay, I’m actually a 4th generation native born Floridian raised in Central Florida just south of Orlando. Part of my family dates back to the 1830′s in the Panhandle in Jackson county. I saw that you were here for quite awhile so we do have a lot in common. You head down this way, let me know and we can set up something. We can got to Chilies, harass the Crackers and throw out together. Lord knows, I been thrown out of better places than that! And worse!
Sounds good, thanks.
Just heard raiders trade pick this draft and next draft for curry from seahawks. They have almost no picks left next draft.
The raiders are still rediculous. LOL
Well a mid season NFL trade, could that be an omen.
Thats the 2nd trade in two days.
What was the first?
Derick Mason to the Texans. Jets get a late round pick. 6th I think
Yeah the media just loves stirring stuff up with trade talk!
armadillo_orton, you know what’s up man. Very well said.
killerkod, his parents call him Timmy too. I’m pretty sure that’s what everyone that considers him family calls him.
I think our offense can end up being a continued contender from here going forward as long as we use all our weapons and offensive scheme’s correctly! I like it, I haven’t been this excited to see the next Broncos game in years!
A few spots on D in the draft will launch us forward next year, like DL and CB.
I little conspiracy theory… They never said Tebow was 3rd sting.. the media took that vantage and ran with it, even if we did tell the media he was 3rd “precetption is not reality.” Fox was new, had no time to prep for an offensive change, kept an offense that has been together for 3 years now till all hope was lost or the off season. You don’t pick up a big offensive tackle to block the blind side of a left handed QB for nothing!
Tebow is a Florida boy that thrives in the heat and humidity, the stands are gonna be all orange and blue, Tebow is going to have the natural blood doping effect of working out in Denver all year and coming back to play at sea level, and Miami is going to be playing their 2nd string QB since Henne’s out for the season. We’re going to absolutely DESTROY Miami! I honestly feel sorry for anybody that gets in TT’s way.
Oh boy, let the tebow lovefest continue. I hope he plays better than I think he will.

I live in tampa and a huge broncos fan and think tebow will have his best pro game yet on oct. 23 @ miami….the weather this time of year in florida is awsome and all the florida gator stuff that is going on with this game. i dont think speilberg could have wrote a better script for how this has all unfolded!!!!!!!!!!GO BRONCOS_GATORS_TEBOW!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you entirely, moon.
“I think that Timmy’s intangibles are really why he’s been as successful as he’s been – his will to win, his competitiveness, his toughness,” Elway continued. “We think that Timmy can come in and do it. We have confidence that Timmy can come in and make those plays to get us over the hump.”
Haha, welcome to the club Elway. That’s what most of us thought in the offseason.
