The fourth episode of Elway Access will air tomorrow on DenverBroncos.com, featuring Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway and Broncos TV’s Chris Hall.
During the 30-minute podcast, Elway will talk all things Broncos and answer questions from fans submitted via Twitter, using #ElwayAccess as a part of their question.
On Monday at 6 p.m., running back Willis McGahee and Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio joined the team’s partner station, 9 News KUSA-TV on Broncos Huddle to discuss the team’s Week 4 victory against the Raiders and the upcoming contest at New England.
McGahee, who topped the 100-yard mark on the ground for the 32nd time of his career, talked about out-performing Raiders running back Darren McFadden.
“I always want to outdo the other running back,” McGahee said. “I wanted to outdo (Texans running back) Arian (Foster), but unfortunately I got hurt. That’s something that all running backs try to do.”
On the other side of the ball, the defense is coming off a second-half shutout, holding Oakland to just six points in the game and keeping them from reaching the end zone.
“It was a good day for us, really,” Del Rio said. “A big thing was, we got off on third down. Whenever you have a talented back, if you can get off on third down, you limit his touches. That always helps.”
Del Rio and his defense will spend the week preparing for the New England Patriots.
Led by quarterback Tom Brady, the Patriots are coming off an offensive explosion last week against the Buffalo Bills, scoring 45 points in the second half.
“We knew this game was coming,” Del Rio said. “We’ve been putting some things together.”
Vice President of Corporate Communications Jim Saccomano also joined Broncos Huddle on Monday night. During his segment, dubbed “Sacco’s Corner,” Saccomano shared a little-known tidbit about Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick.
In 1978, during Saccomano’s first year with the Broncos, also part of the Broncos organization was Belichick, who was the Director of Films for one year.
“He was assisting the defensive staff in every way he could — special teams, anything he could that got him on the field and got him into coaching,” Saccomano said. “That was what was in his blood, and what he wanted to do.”
Following Saccomano’s segment, Channel 9 aired a package that went behind the scenes of the Denver Broncos’ media staff, with editor Gray Caldwell and Chris Hall.
Hall will also be a part of Tuesday’s weekly episode of Elway Access, as he hosts the podcast with Elway. Fans are encouraged to participate in the podcast by tweeting at the Denver Broncos and submit questions using #ElwayAccess.
