Dove Valley Update: March 10

March 10th, 2009 - 2:53pm by Adam Zinser

It’s called the offseason. After all, the Broncos aren’t holding practices or playing games on Sundays.

But as Daniel Graham said last Friday at a community event, “What offseason?”

With the offseason conditioning program set to kickoff Monday, March 16 at Dove Valley, a number of guys are already back in town to get ready. Sure, many of them enjoyed traveling around the country and relaxing, but even then, most of them have been working out to stay in shape so that they can hit the ground running once the team reconvenes.

This morning, there were several players in the locker room and training room at Dove Valley. Boss Bailey, Peyton Hillis, Kory Lichtensteiger, Tyler Polumbus, Carlton Powell and Ryan Torain were all at the facility.

Bailey started six games for the Broncos in 2008 before a knee injury against the Patriots resulted in his being placed on injured reserve. Now he’s working his way back from the injury and trying to get back to 100 percent health.

Hillis also finished the season on injured reserve, but not before playing in 12 games, starting three at fullback and three at running back. He finished the season with 68 carries for 343 yards and five scores, earning Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week and FedEx Ground Player of the Week honors during his rookie campaign.

“I’m really excited,” Hillis said. “My leg is healing up really good, and they think I should be 100 percent healthy here in about a month. I’m just really looking forward to the opportunity to see what the new coaches are all about, play for them and do the best I can.”

Lichtensteiger played in all 16 games with the bulk of his action on special teams, but he often lined up as an H-Back in the jumbo package on offense. With his rookie year under his belt, the Bowling Green State alum has been spending time with family and friends, and as he put it, “recharging the batteries.”

“You just kind of get football out of your mind for a little bit, and I think that’s pretty important,” Lichtensteiger said. “You shift gears, do whatever you want to do to relax.”

He has been back to Denver a couple times since season’s end, though he’s back for the first significant amount of time now.

“I’ve been up here a few times to check in with Dennison, talking with trainers and equipment guys,” he said. “I haven’t had a chance to talk with Coach McDaniels yet. I’ve been up there a few times, but he hasn’t been around. He has been busy, which is pretty understandable. I’m looking forward to getting back into the routine, but it’s going to be hard to give up the easy life of doing whatever you want. But I’ll be ready for it.”

Like his fellow rookie offensive lineman, Polumbus saw action in all 16 games in 2008, mostly on special teams. He has been around more often than his teammates however as he is a Denver native. He played his college ball at Colorado after playing for Cherry Creek High School.

He was able to use the offseason to get in some traveling, and most importantly, he took his wife on their honeymoon.

“We didn’t get a chance to do that since we got married right before camp last year, and that was nice,” Polumbus said. “We went down to Riviera Maya in Mexico, and it was awesome — really fun.”

Now that he has wrapped up his travels, Polumbus has been working out and is ready to get back to focusing on football.

“We had a nice little break, but I’m ready to get back with the guys and get into things. It’s always nice to be back with the guys in the locker room and having fun around here.”

Powell spent the entirety of the 2008 season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list after he suffered a torn achilles’ tendon before training camp even started last year.

He was always around Dove Valley throughout 2008, working out and trying to get back into shape, but he wasn’t able to contribue on the field. Now, however, he’s ready.

“I’ve just been preparing in the training room with Greek (Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopulos) every day,” Powell said. “I’m basically back to 100 percent now, and it feels great. I’m very anxious to get started. The conditioning program starts up Monday, so I want to see where I’m at.”

Powell has been around a lot in the offseason as well, and he has had a chance to visit with all his coaches, and in particular, he got to talk with defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and Head Coach Josh McDaniels.

“I’m definitely ready to get back with the team. We have a lot of new faces, but we’ve got to get together to make things happen.”

As for Torain, his rookie year got off to a rough start when he injured his arm during training camp, forcing him to miss the first seven games. He saw his first action against the Dolphins before earning the start against the Browns the following week. That game started out well for the rookie as he rushed 12 times for 68 yard and a score, but then he suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Like Powell, he has spent much of his time around Dove Valley, working to get back into shape before training camp and the 2009 season.

I can’t make any promises, since there’s no way to know who will be around or when exactly, but I’ll continue to bring updates throughout the week as players arrive for the offseason conditioning program. Once that starts, more players should be around.

Cutlerizer – I hear your point, and I completely agree with you about Cutler. He is not a cry baby or whiner. All I heard in his phone interview was that he was surprised and still wanted to play in Denver.

To answer your question, yes, the players will respect McD as their coach regardless if Cutler is the QB or not. And they better had if they want to win. Otherwise it’s mutiny on the bounty and that equals a sunk ship.

I totally disagree with you that the Broncos are going south. I am optimistic about ’09 and I like what McD has done so far. Do I understand why he would allegedly try and trade Cutler for Cassel. No I do not. I’ll take Cutler any day over Cassel. But Cutler has a lot of improvements to make, in looking off the coverage, not missing wide open receivers and throwing into triple coverage, and taking what the D gives inside the Red Zone.

He has enormous talent but if he’s not coachable and doesn’t learn some humility then maybe it’s best he moves on.

Look at Elway. All those years Reeves holding him back and then handing him the play book in the 4th qtr and letting him bring us back. Elway did it more than any other player but my point is he made no drama about it. He submitted to his authority and went out and did his job.

That’s what Cutler needs to do now. Be grateful to be on the Broncos instead of being entitled. I’m not saying that is his attitude at all. I don’t know what his attitude is. From everything I’ve heard from him his attitude is fine. We’ll see come Monday if he shows up or not. Then we’ll really know the truth behind all of these stories.

The journalists are just doing their jobs. Let’s wait and see what happens.

66ForHOF,ASharpeidea-84,Iceberg12,Broncomaniac4Life:My hats off to all of you!!This is what im talking about,i was beginning to wonder if there were still TRUE Bronco fand out there!I dont post alot,BUT i have never questioned my loyalty to this team REGARDLESS of the stupidity that occurs in the front office from time to time. And if the new coach and our YOUNG quarterback can’t put their differences aside, well then we as fans have to be prepared for transactions we may not like. But by no means should(if your a true fan)that stop you from supporting this team.Enough said, thanks guys by reading your posts the blue and orange in my blood just got darker,my loyalty stronger.Broncos forever!!!!!!!!

Iceberg12 – Spagnuolo was my first choice too, McDaniels 2nd. I was in the same line of thinking that we needed a defensive minded coach, the offense was fine. I’ve since had a change of heart regarding our offense being fine. It really wasn’t.

But a head coach needs to know all aspects of the game and my guess is that McD has Spag beat out in that category. I’ll bet McD knows more about defense than Spag knows about offense. Bowlen interviewed them both we know that. Time, and only time, will tell as we watch these two men.

I have military all over my family so again you have my respect and gratitude.

BlueandOrangeHawkeye – Nice job reading between the lines for possible scenarios. I like it!! Make no mistake about it Belichick is a genius. Something is going on why else would he make that deal for a 2nd round pick? HUGE question to ask indeed.

LBWilson56 – You rawk! I am with you I want to read more posts from fans that are there through thick and thin. 8-8 is a bad year for the Broncos. I can’t remember going 2-14 or anything like that. We have a great franchise that deserves more players in the HOF for sure.

  4. Iceberg12 says:

Regardless of what some fans say, If you are with Cutler or against him. with McDaniels or against him!!! It doesn’t matter. We are just the fans, and the best dang fans in ANY organization at that!!!! We just need to support our team, our organization and each other, and hope for the best, no matter what the outcome!!!! You never know, we might be sitting next to each other at a game sometime! Bleed blue and orange, keep faith and don’t give up, EVER!!! I’m out, talk to you later!!!!!!

I know all you think Dawkins is an improvement, but what about R Hill??? think he’s any better than McCree (was injured…I know)+manuel (Bust!) or Barrett (seems lost out there, but he’s only a rookie)?! Andra Davis or nate Webster??? I got faith in Webster. Last year everyone was chirp’n ’bout Niko. Oh yeah…great find…not really. Webster clearly beat him out @ camp. I feel Nate will do it again this year. I’m not sold on Davis. We all agree that our #1 pick HAS to be a pass rusher from the edge?!?! larry english, orakpo, maualuga, or Connar barwin (he kinda reminds me of Engleberger=great hustle player, but would get Smoked in a 3-4 D)…am I right or am I right?? punches n bunches

I am a Broncos fan! The Broncos are the TEAM I Love and Cheer for Cutler is a player that is all, He has not shown ANY Leadership skills, and is pouting again. I think His Agent is playing Him, the Fans And The TEAM.

Bus Cook is The car salesman trying to sell Cutler a new M-1 at 29%intrest compounded daily. Cutler some how thinks it is a good deal. Cook is leaking everything to the press to play the Fans against The TEAM! A true dirtbag move. Bus Crook is The Snake in the grass who will bite The Fans and The TEAM. If Cutler moves Please send Him to Detroit that would be funny.

True Fans will not let this happen!
True Fans need to stand by Their TEAM!
Professional Head Coaches need to stand by Their Players!
Professional QB’s need to stand by Their TEAM!
Snakes get Their Heads Chopped Off!

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

I’m still giddy over the fact that Chris Simms is in Denver. As much as Phil hates the Broncos, and his son is a third stringer. Ohh, I love it.

  10. bleedinorange+blue says:

I would love to see Brian Orakpo here better than anyone else in the Draft.

  11. beefdirkus says:

I like reading the blogs, poeple are all over the place. I agree with everyone that is saying, “they are fans through thick and thin”. I too have been a life long Bronco fan and will be until the end, even if I do not agree with all the teams decisions. All we can do is wait and see what happens. I think we need to give McDaniels a chance. He has not even coached a game and people are saying they need to fire him.
The Cutler situation was not handled well on all sides. It will work itself out (either Culter stays or goes) and whatever happens, I will still be a fan.

Peace and continue to bleed blue/orange

  12. 66forHOF says:

NO WAY, not Mauluga, any one but him. broncomaniac4life I agree with alot of what your saying, but I think Davis is kind of an upgrade over Webster. Not that big of one though. The reason or reasons I should say that I don’t like Mauluga are because he’s to small, get’s pushed around by everyone, over plays and misses takles, is terrible in space, and at USC most of his mistakes were masked by the talent on that D. I realy like Orakpo thuogh, but I have Q’s aout his work ethic and I don’t think he’ll make it past the Clowns at 5.

  13. u n o says:

    And…..

  14. Elwayfan6584 says:

66forHOF, I agree with you gettin pissed about Paxton wearing Nalens number. I know Tom is probably done playing football, which saddens me, but it would have been nice to hear an official press release from him and or the team. Instead, we had to see that a newly signed free agent is taking his number. It really bums me out. Nalen was the anchor of the o-line for years.

All the talk about fans saying “that if Cutler leaves, I am no longer a fan” really sickens me. But I do understand where ya all are coming from. I know we dont know all the facts. We just hear what the reporters report to make a story. But if Cutler goes, it will really be a sad day for Broncos Country. Im not 100% sold on Cutler yet… but I think he has the potential to be great. And like many of you have stated on here, he has the respect from the team and the players love him. Sure, we would find another QB that could come in and earn the teams respect…. but it wont happen that fast.

I know a lot of people are counting the Broncos out this year, new coach, new system, new team blah blah blah. I truly believe that we still might have a shot to actually do something this year. Its not like McD is coming into to fix a completely horrible team. The offense can produce…. the D just needs to step up. If the relationship with Cutler and McD doens’t get better… its going to be a very very very bad year. Even if the Broncos and Cutler part ways and we get a new QB, you can pretty much throw this season out the window.

Im just going to keep my head up and hope everything works out well. GO Broncos

  15. shannyfan says:

I am in total agreement with beefdirkus. The cutler/mcd situation was handled terrible on both sides. But I guess I tend to be more in agreement with mcdaniels in the whole situation. Cutler is definitely proving to be a great qb. But he has to realize no one is above being traded for the right deal. And I never agree that the whole system should be developed around one player as the broncos have done with cutler. I am not a fairweather broncos fan. I will be a fan when they suck and make stupid decisions and when they are awesome. So if broncoland isn’t the place for cutler someone else will fill his shoes.

  16. torian4life says:

None of us knows what really happend with the trade. Unless you were fly on the wall in the office. Come on people it’s broncos football. i don’t care how we get a championship a win is win. cutler is not above the team there is i team. Cutler show up to practice or get traded and be on some suckee team! Football is a business not a right not privilage. cutler make millions of dollars and he’s crying cause maybe they tried to trade him. People don’t have jobs and some people don’t like their boss but they have to deal with it. If they want to eat.

  17. West Coast says:

twiztedbronco …..best post Ive read all day> I wish all of our bandwagon fans would go back to Oakland. They cried when plummer was benched, they cried when Shanny was fired and now there crying about Cutler. Fact- Jay asked for a trade 2 months ago. Fact- Jay did not show up when the coach and owner asked him to come in last week. Fact- Jay has been crying ever since. I am surpised we have not dealt him to the Lions for both #1 picks. Also quit bringing up how great our offense was last year. We were 16th in the league in scoring and that is the only offensive stat that matters. …..16th……..>>>>>.Denver Bronco fan period

  18. Torain ATV fan says:

This is my theory. According to the newspaper Cutler is scheduled to make a million dollars this year. name me a QB we can bring in at that price, that can lead this team. Me personally cant think of one. This is why I believe Jay will be here next year. We had 30+ in salary caproom, and with all new additions, that money has been spent. Granted some of thoseadditions wont make the team, because we stillhave to sign our draft picks. But there is no way we can afford another QB. Even taking stafford, with lions 1st pick, would cost too much for our salary cap. Do you guys agree with this?

    Orange and Blue stay true!

  19. u n o says:

If this trade were for Tom Brady and Not Cassel how many of you Cutler supporters would be singing a different tune?

When all is said and done the long and short of this thing goes back to what this really is…. a business. If McDaniels was given an offer of Cassel and a 1st round pick I personally would say he was mentally damaged if he didn’t take it.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Jay Cutler and what he has brought to our team and our community. I could not ask for a better quarterback to represent the orange and blue. With that said, I believe we all promoted change with the arrival of a new coach. Everyone wanted to hit the ground running and I believe most of us were happy to see McDaniels being so active.

If that is the case then how can people get so mad if he was looking to make a move that was going to better our team? Even if (worst case scenario) he was seeking a trade for Cassel. If he thought the addition of Cassel and a few extra draft picks were going to give us a better chance to win in 2009 and beyond than why are we so against it?

Like I said above, I love Jay Cutler and I am happy that he will remain our Quarterback for the next few years. He is a great young man with a gratuitus amount of talent. I believe in him and want him to suceed no matter where he ends up. But I am willing to bet you if in 3 years he feels like the grass is greener he won’t be taking any kind of pay cut to remain a Bronco, and he will do just what any free agent would do and take his paycheck and move on.

As fans we become attached to commodities. All to often we get bent out of shape when and owner or coach trade to do what is best for the team. Look at Portis and Al Wilson to name a few. I can name you several people who were all in an up roar on both occations. But… in both cases it was what was thought to be best for the team from a managerial stand point.

When its all said and done all I am saying is lets try to let the coach be the coach. Let Cutler and McDaniels go throguh these growing pains without us being a pain in their sides, and lets us remain fans. I mean lets be honest…. We can all talk about going to cheer for another team because our favorite player gets traded…. but none of us ever will!

  20. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

    WestCoast…

Where did you hear/read that Jay wanted to be traded??

and I believe we were the number 2 offense… not 16th….

  21. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

    2nd overall (FYI)….

  22. Torain ATV fan says:

    Broncobailey99:

we were 2nd overall in yards but 16th in points. Me personally i take that as we were ranked 16th. Cuz we all know points is what wins the game, not who got more yards.

  23. aSharpeIdea_84 says:

u n o – Well said. Al Wilson suffered a career ending neck injury though and I personally was very pleased with the trade of Portis for Bailey.

It’s great to hear from some TRUE fans.

  24. RioAbajo bronco says:

My input on the JAY, MC D deal is MC,D needs to come forward and publicly address the fans , There is way to much rumors flying around ,or JAY FOR THAT MATTER!!

  25. raidrhadr says:

LBWilson56…..Nowhere in my post (rant about Jay Cutler) did I say that I didn’t want to be a fan anymore. Season tickets since ’65. So I hope you weren’t talking about me.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!

  26. 15themarshall15 says:

fact i cant post about this cause 90% of the stuff you guys write is wrong wait and see

  27. bigvon says:

Just wanted to say I love Cutler but he is a cry baby. Sharpeidea is correct in that we need to support the team. Cutler is being unreasonable. PERIOD!!!! He is the leader of our team and he should be setting the example and running this team showing Mc D just how valuable he can be instead of how much of a whiner he can be. Dont get me wrong because I like Cutler I would hate to see him go anywhere I want him to be here to retire, but I dont play and I understand that this is a business first and foremost. Sometime we lose players for the progress of the whole team. When you understand that then you dont personalize things. Cutler is is great and again I would love to retain him but if he cant be the leader that the team needs then McD. is correct in trading him. I think Bowlen and X and McD are smart enough to get something really great if they make the trade. It will definitely be a minute before we get our new franchise QB if we let him go.

Cutler will hopefully come around and realize that this is business and not personal. He is the QB so he has to lead this team and show his coaching staff that he in control and that he can take this team to a Superbowl. Otherwise why are we here. If we arent working towards a Superbowl we should all go home. Jay is very good but he hasnt proven himself to be GREAT so he has to establish that status with the new regime.

  28. u n o says:

I know that Wilson had a career ending injury, bad example. You got my point.

Just couldn’t think of someone else we let get away that was surrounded by controversy.

    Shannon Sharpe maybe?
    Trevor Price?

  29. aSharpeIdea_84 says:

Yes u n o and good point. It was just FYI.

As far as Ken Lucas is concerned, he’s 30 and didn’t look good against AZ.

I’ve said it before but what about Pacman? I know about the baggage with this guy. But look at Randy Moss before he got another chance with NE.

Jones is a serious CB as well as a great return man. And because of his troubles, he would probably get a minimum deal for 1 year only and I think that it’s possible he could have learned his lesson in Dallas.

Goodman is pretty good I think but he’s 30.

  30. broncosforlife80 says:

CUTLER NEVER ASKED TO BE TRADED….NOT EVER. HE WAS UPSET WHEN SHANNAHAN WAS FIRED THEN WHEN BATES WAS LET GO…BUT HE NEVER ASKED FOR A TRADE…HE WAS ON BOARD WITH MCDANIELS 100% BEFORE THE S*** HIT THE FAN ABOUT THE TRADE TALKS.

SO STOP SAYING CUTLER ASKED TO BE TRADED BECAUSE THOSE WORDS NEVER CAME OUT OF HIS MOUTH

ALL HE HAS SAID IS THAT HE LOVES THE BRONCO ORGANIZATION AND HE LOVES PLAYING HERE…HES NOT CRYING OR WHINING ABOUT ANYTHING…JUST LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEWS….HE WASENT CRYING ABOUT ANYTHING JUST THESE SPORTS NETOWRKS MAKE IT SEEM THAT WAY…

IM A DENVER BRONCO FAN FOR LIFE NO MATTER WHAT..JUST IN MY OPINION CUTLER IS THE BEST QUARTERBACK THATS OUT THERE THAT COULD BE POSSIBLY MOVED[I.E BRADY OR MANNING WILL NEVER BE MOVED] AND HES ABOUT 20 TIMES BETTER THEN CASSEL

I PREDICT A FLOP THIS YEAR WITH HIM BECAUSE HE DOSENT HAVE THE SAME SUPPORTING CAST HE HAS IN KANSAS CITY THAT HE DID IN NEW ENGLAND. HE DOSENT HAVE RANDY MOSS, WES WELKER A D THAT COULD GET HIM OUT OF JAMS. LETS SEE HOW HE DOES WITH A TEAM THATS LESS THEN MEDIOCORE AND NOT THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL THIS PAST DECADE.

BUT I SEE WHY MCDANIELS MIGHT OF WANTED HIM BECUASE HES COMFORTABLE WITH CASSEL. CASSELS PLAYED IN THE SYSTEM HE KNOWS THE SYSTEM HES A SAFE QUARTERBACK WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY NEXT POINT IF THATS REALLY WHY MCDANIELS WANTED HIM THAT SHOWS ME THAT HE HAS NO CONFIDENCE IN HIS COACHING TO TEACH CUTLER THE SYSTEM WITHOUT EVEN GIVING CUTLER A SHOT TO WORK WITH IT.

THOSE ARE JUST SOME OF MY THOUHTS ON THE WHOLE CUTLER FIASCO.

I LIKE MOST OF OUR SIGNINGS THIS OFF-SEASON. THE ONLY ONE I KIND OF SCRATCH MY HEAD ON IS LAMONT JORDAN BUT WELL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THINGS PLAY OUT.

IM GLAD TO SEE SOME OF OUR PLAYERS WORKING AND RECOVERING FROM INJURIES TO GET BACK ON THE FIELD AND HELP THE TEAM OUT ALSO.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

YOU DON’T NEED TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!! ITS KIND OF ANNOYING!!!!!!!

  33. rnst says:

Change Jay Cutler , its the same history that Brian Griese
    Trade a Real QB

  34. NY_BroncoMan says:

I agree with those backing Cutler on this. ..I’m not saying he has handled this perfectly, as i think he should not be talking so much to people letting things out in the media…but then again they are there to report what is going on as the fans have a right to know since we pay everyones salary :) .

If McDaniel’s was such a good LEADER he would have done everything in his power to go and make things right with Jay. He would have went out of his way to make sure their relationship was GREAT and completely repaired. Sorry Mc D but Cutler is a PROVEN… team player, star QB & now pro bowler. You are NOT a proven Head Coach and this completely shows your inexperience. ..The truth is leadership and respect are EARNED not given just by position.

ALL YOU FANS WHO ARE DOWNING CUTLER for being upset should think about this… If you busted your a$$ the last few years developing yourself to be a franchise QB and basically carried the team (with rest of offense) and had the FRUIT to prove it with a pro bowl selection you to would be a bit PISSED OFF if some guy who was never a head coach before (wet behind the ears) came in talking trade trying to change a TOP 5 OFFENSE and trade you after all your hard work and dedication.

If Shannahan came in and said well Elway is getting a bit old, lets trade him and bring in a younger QB more in their prime, everyone would have FLIPPED OUT…don’t front. There are some players you JUST DON’T TRADE because they mean too much to the organization and the fans.

It’s not even that McDaniels thought of trading for Cassel that bothers me..I can understand it as a thought (he’s familiar with him etc) ..it’s that he has NOT DONE MUCH TO MAKE AMENDS. No interviews, press conference, trips to go see Jay..nothing.

Any REAL LEADER would have made it a first priority to go fix what YOU started. Cutler didn’t do anything to initiate all this except have a natural emotional reaction of being upset. ..which if you ask me is a GREAT REACTION. That means the guy really cares!!!! if he didn’t care i’d be more concerned..Mc Daniels should relize that!!!

  35. egybronco says:

Im a long time bronco fan that has given every single drip of sweat and passion in my life to seeing the broncos suceed. if the broncos trade jay cause they dont have the common sense to mend broken fences then mr bowlen should fire this diaper wearing coach and beg mike to come back and be the coach for life.

ive had it with this organization im depressed and i for one have had it.

  36. 22hillis says:

This is a sad time for all of us. I hope jay reads these and know that the broncos need him and will need him for years to come.

  37. West Coast says:

BRONCOBAILEY99 ….Peter King reported and we were 16th in SCORING which is the only offensive stat that matters. We were 2nd in yards.

NY_BroncoMan …Dont forget that Shanny tried to trade Shannon Sharpe when he came over. How soon we forget things.

  38. G funk says:

I love also to see this team strive. And i hate to see this stuff going on with this team. people forget Cutler is youg MCD is young and they are showing there age. but then again we are not there in the office or on the telephone, or at Cutlers house. so when i see well sources SAY things are bad to worse i don’t believe them. I’ve been so disappointed in ESPN these past few weeks with there half A– reporting its been annoying. All i know is that teams have fights and disagrements all the time and when money is involved things get messy. So i think when the smoke clears all this will be over money. but that my opinion. Let me also say im a huge Cutler fan and even a bigger broncos fan i’m a firm believer that one person is not bigger than the team or football. So no matter how mad Cutler is he needs to show up for practice. because the players in that locker rooom didn’t do this to him and he the team captain he needs to be there for them.

  39. shawn723 says:

ALl i hope is that JAy shows up Monday at offseason workouts. ITs not that i love jay and not the broncos, but seriously, who could we possibly have to replace him. a first rnd QB. HELL NO!!!!! jay has chemistry with this whole team and we need to keep him here. but either way ill b on this computer every sunday watching the game (because i live in PA) or ill watch it on tv if its on. I just cant believe that we would think of trading cutler for a nobody QB when we signed soooo many veteran players like dawkins, hill, goodman, and davis to win right now!!! just my thoughts!!!! im with bones, i hope Hillis gets a real look at running back. The kid is a tank, if u want to c it go to youtube and watch him run right over the chiefs safety. ITS MAGICAL!!! lol GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!

  40. cutlercountry08 says:

Ok i understand why Jay is upset. but if you ever watch espn or nfl network u get two different opinions. From sports writers they feel like mcdaniels is wrong and that he needs to apologize. buh if u ever listen to ex qbs they all say the same thing. Jay needs to man up and realize that this is a business. nd its the truth. I gotta be honest i would be truly devastated if they traded jay but its life. nd jay needs to realize that YES he did prove his self thus far. u can Talk all the bs about how Jay is a sub-500 qb but the fact is he broke all kinds of records and he was a probowl qb. so YES he did prove himself. Wut jay needs to realize is that he proved himself to Shanahans regime nd thats it. We Shannys regime is OUT! so that means jay has to come right back this year and prove himself AGAIN to the new regime. I mean thats jus wut it is. He has to prove himself again or HE WILL GET TRADED. I hope that he shows up on Monday cuh the coach having a bad rep with a player is one thing. But a player having a bad rep wit a coach is a whole nother ANIMAL!! if he starts acting like a premadonna the coach will have no problem shippin his A@# to another time and find someone else. I hope that Jay shows up on monday and wen the media blows up his face. he lets them kno that this is his team and he will do whatever he has to to take THE BRONCOS to the promise land.. And lets end all the drama nd get back to football.. Hopin for the best!

    LLLLLAAAAAATTTTTTEEERRRRRRR DDDDDUUUUDDDDDEEESSSSS!!!

How sad it is that we are all consumed this off season with this situation. Usually we are all trying to figure out who we might pick up in free agency or who we may draft.
There have been many posts about what a true fan may think or should think. What exactly is a true fan? Love the team regardless of who the players are or how they are treated? The players are the team so how should we decide who are loyalities are directed to? The owner, the coach? I became a fan as a youth in upstate N.Y.. Why, to antagonize all the Jet and Giant fans! When did I truly become a fan, a loyal fan? When I realized that the Broncos stood for something, that being integrity. They always seemed to do things the right way, on the up and up. An owner who cared about the people in his organization, a coach who cared about his players and players who respected and left it all on the field for their fans and the organization. What we see today isn’t what I have grown to expect from the Bronco organization. The integrity that has been almost unshakable here is now in danger of disappearing and I fear that as divided as we are here on this board is equaled in the locker room. I sure hope this team doesn’t become another Bengals or Lions. I doubt that I would ever become a fan of another team if things got that bad but I just might find something better to do on my Sunday afternoons.

    THANK YOU IMREADY

Any True leader of any company or organization would humble themselves if they had a problem like this with their best employee. Yes Jay acts on his emotions and makes statements BUT again it shows he has passion, something thats been lacking at QB since Elway left.

He has a desire to win more than anyone we’ve brought in here. PLEASE..Greece, “Jake the Snake”..come on man!! U put Cutler in the lineup for broncos in 05 and we’re superbowl Champions not the steelers.

Every Bronco fan has been waiting for another #7 for 10 years and we get a guy now “finally” that actually in so many ways resembles Elway.=> Cannon arm, not afraid to take chances, passion to win, scrambling ability, football instinct, etc .. Oh course we’re PISSED OFF about this whole situation.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

I am a man of faith and I just read in this controversy that a team official confirmed to the AP that many sources (such as ESPN’s Bill Williamson that stupid a-hole) have fabricated some things. Therefore, we have to trust the team official because this individual knows more than anyone else. In any case, I have faith that Cutler will remain and all will be well. GO BRONCOS!!!

  45. broncos20 says:

Cutler should listen to what Trent Green said on NFL Network, “He should show up on the first day of voluntary workouts, answer all the questions and say that this is his team, he’ll lead them, he’ll take care of business”. Be the leader..Exactly what should be said. Be assertive. And not lay low.

I listened to that group and STILL only Rod Woodson was all over Cutler, but that other analyst, forgot his name, stood up for Cutler and shoved off Woodson,,ahah….

bowlan should set up a ufc ring and let mcd and cutler go at it loser leaves denver

  47. kase78matt says:

for real they both need to deflate there ego there both too good to let go jays record doesnt show it but watch the kid play and u can see hes becoming a leader till he throws fits like this if we trade him it better be worth it. I agree a real fan would follow denver not jay but i understand how these fans can be so pissed to walk in and throw out these all stars like jay scheff and marsh. but when he came in he was gunna form it around his scheme so as much as i may not like his ways i wont judge till after next season

  48. cutler6101 says:

I believe we will have a good team no matter what and I do believe that everything is cool in denver and Jay is back. I took some time and looked some stuff up and I dont believe in all this hype…every team should watch out this season. I cant wait to run over the Cheifs and watch Cassel crumble in KC! The best thing about being in the Afc West is that we get to beat on oak, sd, kc twice a season…TIME TO FOCUS ON THE DRAFT!

    Orakpo OVER rey maluga
