Dolphins to Honor Gators on Sunday

October 18th, 2011 - 11:49am by Stuart Zaas

When Tim Tebow makes his first start of the season this Sunday, he will have plenty of supporters in the stands, despite the fact that the game will be played outside the Mile High City.

The Miami Dolphins have planned a “Gator Day” celebration for Sunday’s game, during which they will honor the Florida Gators 2008 National Championship team. Of the four former Gators that will take the field on Sunday, three of them play for the Broncos in Tebow, Marcus Thomas and Derrick Harvey. The host Dolphins feature just one in center Mike Pouncey.

“Honestly, I haven’t really thought about it,” Tebow said. “It is extremely nice of them. [They are] great memories, but on that day I will be focused on being a Denver Bronco and trying to go out there and compete to the best of my ability.”

Expect to see plenty of blue and orange – the color scheme shared by both the Gators and Broncos – and No. 15 jerseys in the stands on Sunday.

I’m no editor but shouldn’t it say “When Tim Tebow makes his first career start of the 2011 season this Sunday..” of “When Tim Tebow makes his fourth career start this Sunday..”

I was just gonna post this lol

FOUR Florida alumnus will be celebrated. THREE of them – Tebow and defensive linemen Derrick Harvey and Marcus Thomas – are Broncos. Only Mike Pouncey will represent Miami.

Nice to hear Tebow say exactly the right thing about the hoopla.

This is going to feel like it is being played in Denver at Mile High. I bet the cameras will be rocking once again for the Broncos. The ‘fins’ are totally feel out of place. I bet when this was set up they had no clue TT would be the starting qb for the Broncos.

  9. Carsonic says:

    Absolutely right, brian; good catch!

  10. baylinorcrush says:

Many of them will be rooting for Tebow allright, but the greater majority will root for the Broncos for the simple fact that they want the Dolphins to suck for Luck, 79% of the Miami fans said so in a Miami Herald poll I think it was.

Hey, I wouldn’t turn down any noise for our team. Pumps them up that much more.

I’m sure it was an honest typo and believe me I’m the furthest one from being a fact Nazi.

But I did get excited by 007 post in a previous blog when he said Miami will hire Urban Meyer for HC and I added he will pick Luck in the draft with the first pick only to trade him to us for Tebow and our first round pick since they made eachother famous at Florida. I do hope that Tebow works out for us but that would be by far a fantastic plan B.

  14. baylinorcrush says:

Brian, you do that all the time, correct folks, but in such a diplomatic way no one cares, LOL.

It`s funny how the blogs girst words are Tim Tebow will make his first career start this Sunday. Well in actuality, it`s his 4th start. LOL

  16. baylinorcrush says:

And strand didn’t read a single post, LOL.

  17. strandoftds says:

ooops, Blogs FIRST words are…………… Wrong key.

  18. strandoftds says:

Nice catch Brian … I was wondering if anyone else caught that. It would be hard to miss … but I am sure its a honest mistake … feels to me like a first career start too … because this one feels more permanent than last years. TRB

Don’t know if you guys have talked about it in this blog yet, but I know it was brought up yesterday. This afternoon the Eagles announced Asante Samuel is on the trading block. He’s not exactly a spring chicken himself, but we’d get a few more years out of him than Goody, and he’d be great help developing our younger CB’s.

  24. BeastFromEast92 says:

Since the Dolphins wear Orange now and the Gator fans will be wearing Orange and blue,it’ll make it easier for Tebow, plus when he makes a good play he definitely will get applause!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
