The defense’s final series against the Cincinnati Bengals has been well-covered.
But Thursday marked the first time Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen has talked about the aggressive calls that helped lead to a 24-22 win.
With a first-and-10 just past midfield, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton threw an incomplete pass. On the next play, Allen dialed up a cornerback blitz, and Jonathan Wilhite came streaking into the backfield to sack the quarterback, leaving the Bengals with third-and-19.
“I think you have to play every situation as it plays out,” Allen said. “We were in a situation there where they had the ball around midfield. They needed a field goal to win the game, so we had to be more aggressive to win the game. I think you play every situation out, and that was situation that we felt as a coaching staff that called for us to bring some pressure and luckily we had the right one called up and were able to get to the quarterback.”
On third down, Wesley Woodyard dove to break up a pass short of the first-down marker, and the defense held strong to force a game-clinching incompletion on fourth down.
Allen said seeing how his team reacted in that clutch situation will be beneficial as the season rolls on.
“I think all those are learning experiences for us,” he said. “We are getting a feel for each other — the way that we think and the way that we coach, as well as the players and the way they react to different situations. We’re going to take in that information and file it away so that we have that for future use.”

Love the pictures. Love the aggression. Don’t forget to wrap up those tackles boys. Go get em Broncos!!!!
Can’t wait to see the defense all healthy and playing up to their potential!!!! Orange is crushing some folks. Stay focused on containing the run. The pass rush is coming around nicely. Got to have the secondary step up their game. They have the talent, just read and react baby!
Seriously, I tune in to watch the defense. Until we get this running game going that is.
DT Swanson Miller was just cut by the Saints….give him a look defense!
love me some local Broncos coverage here in TN!!!! ahhhh it so sold out too!!! AHHHHHHH , BRONCOS ON TV THIS SUNDAY!!!
Go broncos. Let’s see some dominating D this Sunday. Keep up the momentum from last weeks win!
Gotta love how they never show any pics of TT anymore
Yeah, but Quinn is back, LOL, and pointing stuff too, haha.
Actually shaztah, you can see Tebow’s back behind Doom.
He looks like he’s got his hands in his pockets though, not a good sign, LOL.
And Joe Mays just flat out flies.
Is the dougie a new version of the twist, LOL.
Almost zero time for blogging lately. My prediction for Sunday: 21-20 Denver in a serious nail-biter.
Well Bay, my numbers have been used this week. I’m going with Denver Broncos 22, Tennessee Titans 17. Thanks Broncos Family for the reads. Go Broncos!
this is a tuff match because CJ is not just an outside runner but also an inside runner. im more worried about him running it right down the middle. but then again if our line can win the battle in the trenches we should be fine. I hope our offense can keep our deffense off the field not just go three and out everytime we aren’t always going to get lucky. lets go denver!!!
When we can get Champ and Marcus Thomas healthy, I say forget dialing up the aggression and just throw the “kitchen sink” at em!
GO BRONCOS in 2011!
chris johnson is overrated and over payed he should of had to prove his worth before getting that fat contract i bet this year he will be average not taking away what hes done in the past but the nfl is what have you done for me lately type of league and he hasent rushed for over 100yards in the first 2 games denver knows what teams will try to do on them because thats what we sucked at last year first game we did bad and the 2nd we did ok now its time to be great go broncos!
Titans will run first half. Pass second half and win. Sad facts.
JJ Arington for Joe Mays was probably the smartest thing McDaniels ever did. Altho he never gave Mays a chance to start but he was more of a 4-3 MLB than a 3-4 ILB. I also can’t wait till we have our full D out there. If Champ can’t play we will be dealing with more “Britt”s than the American Revolution. The pictures seem to get more and more. Good stuff. Later days, TRB out…
I understand mike, but teams have been breaking some kind of record on us. This could be CJ chance denver has no real solid DT ‘S in their line up, that is where they are going to aim at. But our line better stay discipline the titans play dirty and it could be a long day of penalties on both offense and deffense that they will take advantage. we got lucky with the raiders meaning how close the game was. But we need this win after that denver plays GB then SD none are easy opponents… LET GO DENVER BEAT TENNESSEE AT THEIR ON GAME!!!
Man, just got my hard copy of the media guide, absolutely the best Bronco bible I have ever owned, it’s right there all under my finger tips, all 664 pages of it, so much better than seeing it one page at a time online, love it, a little small though thought it was magazine size, it’s more like 5-5″ x 8.5′. Anyway the absolute best nonetheless, just need my reading glasses, haha.
All the records in our entire history, team and individual, everything imaginable, including all PS players ever, all draftees of course, everything.
Just happened to see the tackle record held by who else but Gradishar with 286 tackles in what I think was 14 games in 1978!!!! DJ’s most is 170 with 16 games, Wilson is closest with 199, no one else over 200, Gradishar got over 200 in 6 different years!!! Anyone still wondering who is our best LB all time? LOL.
Other jewel:
Who scored the most rushing TDs last year, Tebow with 6!!!! Elway also led the team in rushing TDs in 1991 with 6!
Davis has the all time record with 21 in 1998, his 2,008 yard season.
He also scored a team record 128 points that year.
Last year was the team lowest fan attendance sice 2001!!!
Out of the 10 largest crowds ever recorded at mile high, 8 were either in 2006 or 2007, one in 2003 against the Raiders and #10 is the only one in recent memory and it was only because so many Steelers fans showed up for the Pittsburgh game in 2009. I would be nervous too if I was the organization, just saying.
Anyway there is so much cool stuff in there, you guys can ask me more questions than ever, LOL.
Back to my bible…
Here is one that shocked me:
What decade did the Broncos have the best win record on the road in regular season?
The 2000s!!!!!
39-41-0, beating the 1980s, second best with 35-39-1.
That’s amazing!
I won’t tell you about our home record in the 2000s though, LMAO!
True Blue Bronco Baylinorcrush the best fan of’em all.. Dude you are a testament to the fact that being a Bronco fans is what it’s all about.
Someday I’d like to meet you bro, hang out, have a few beers and catch a Bronco game…
You can tell me some of the Bronco gospel (good news) out of your good book…
Hopefully they have one of those with Tebows name in there some day… If he is willing to play to win and for the good of the team and NOT the 11 million Bronco Bucks…of course…..LOL
ILMSDB!!
Good man OC, Tebow is in there already, scored the most rushing TDs on our team last year like I said above, also only rookie with a 300 yd game passing along with Elway and Marlin Briscoe. It’s a start, but maybe that’s all it will be…
Now another amazing stat which brings back our zone blocking running days, we had 10 guys who ran for over 100 yards in just a quarter!!!!! TD did it 6 times, Anderson 2 times, and I witnessed that one time he did it in N-O, Olandis Gary once and Portis once, that’s one hundred yards in one quarter folks and now we get all giddy if we get it in a game, LOL.
And who would guess the name of the punter who punted for more yards than anyone in our history?
Scarpitto, sounds cool don’t it, LOL, punted the leather out of the ball in 1967, 713 yards! Now I know where Sacco gets all his material, haha.
Most games ever played with Denver? No not Elway, Elam, 236 games to John’s 234.
Let’s hope they keep TT on the bench until he takes the time to learn the offense, what his role is, and how to be a QB in the NFL. Watched him during preseason, wasn’t impressed, reminded me of a typical college QB, looks downfield once then run, that works in college because the talent isn’t as good. Doesn’t work well in the NFL. Not saying I wouldn’t mind a few more boot legs or more capable scrambling (Elway-ish) but TT isn’t ready to lead and that is what we need in that position. Let him brew for a year, let him learn, so that we have a better QB in the future. One that is MATURE enough to handle the position.
Most combined yards in a season by a rookie:
Rick Upchurch 1,929 yds in 1975, 97 rushing, 436 receiving and 1,396 returning, no wonder I loved the man!
My Lord, this guy hasn’t read any of our posts, LMAO!!!
But that’s cool bro, hopefully Tebow will be the man you hope him to be in a few years, but that maybe on another team….
May have to be on another team, he has had two years to learn and still he’s the 3rd stinger.
2a or 2b, haha.
Lord let me ask you, did you watch the last three games last season? Man I don’t see how Tebow is any worse than Orton besides the fact that Tebow gets conversions on third downs and can score in the red zone. Not to mention had a better QB rating in preseason. So I have to ask what makes you think Tebow is incapable? Him locking on to a reciever? Why do you think Orton has gotten so many sacks? Or could it be that he cannot pass from the pocket, even though he engineered a comeback in preseason from the pocket against Seattle. Get out of here with that bs of Tebow not being ready.
Man if I have to hear that Tebow is not ready one more time I might just go insane? Who is it that determines when a player is ready to play the football god? The only way we are going to find out if he is ready is by putting him in but I know that won’t happen until late in the season.
what Mikey said.
What an awesome afternoon, early evening. I’ll spare the details of personal stuff, but it was for sure a long time coming.
Mr. Caldwell, please do not post any more pictures of the players dancing, and please no Dougie. hahah i hate that song. Teach me how to Dougie, all the girls love it, all the girls love it. AHHHHH. I might be sitting next to mikey in the insane asylum.
Awesome stuff in the media guides. Looking at straight numbers (other than $$$$) there is absolutely no reason to hate on Tebow as much as our current HC does in private with sports reporters.
FYI don’t let other people use your computer!….
did whitetiger_007 say anything stupid? looking back, it doesn’t look like it. that’s my girlfriend’s son’s handle I made for him.

-that’s what I told my brother yesterday.
And Lord went back to do things Lords do…
I want a media guide! Where do I send my credit card #?
OC, if I had known you were gonna be at that thing last October, I’d most certainly have invited you to our tailgating spot and shared a cold one or two. Incidentally, that was the best part of that afternoon! Man that was such a bad day even the flyover was botched.
Stevecan, c’mon man. Save the pessimism for next week at least! Lol.
I wonder, now that the rookie wage scale was implemented, if we will in fact see restructured contracts?! I’m curious to say the least.
This is not a credit card thing, you have to send a check for $29.99 to the media department, look in the website under 2011 media guide. It’s kind of obscure but I sure I’m glad I found out about it and it worked, love it, worth every penny, much more than a jersey that goes irrelevant after a couple years.

Offense is getting there and with a little more consistency and red zone activity we may get where we need to be in keeping the other team’s offense off the field and help our defense until they improve.
fast forward 4 years later. and people wander why some of us have zero patience left.

This is true about it being along season. Look at last year; it looked like we would be unstoppable and our defense was going to be another Bronco Defense of legend. In the end we didn’t even make the playoffs. You try to be positive but our run defense is pathetic. I hope it gets better soon.
So maybe not a good idea looking at the archived blogs. But, seeing as how John Fox says that is top priority there may be hope? Then again… I have heard some things that are already churning my stomach.

10/02/2007: a statement by Andrew in his blog.
“Loyalty can be absolute, but you don’t have to wear blinders in order to be a loyal follower of your team.”
imready must hate this Andrew guy.
LMAO@Steve, good one.

The thing that stuck out to me in that link is McD’s 2010 team had a -127 point differential, the largest negative differential since Lou Saban in 1968!!!!!!!
That’s link you posted stevecan, did you notice it says 2008, 8-8, 1st place AFC West. How weird!
I don’t see where it states that.
