LBF, you won’t believe the crazy rumor I heard today. That we were offering to trade Elvis Dumervil and a 1st round draft pick for Darelle Revis. Then, we will be going after Dwight Freeney.

  2. alaskanbronco06 says:

I have seen mixed reviews about it. Some saying its perfect some saying to much some saying to little.

  3. louisianabroncofan says:

wow. thats not something i would say no to immediately. revis is special. doom isnt as good as his contract and we could do without him. interesting. maybe a 2nd this year and 3rd next year?

  4. louisianabroncofan says:

i just hate to lose the first. freeney will do just about what doom does. i really think so. just losing the first rounder is tough but hey its revis.

  5. alaskanbronco06 says:

I agree with you about the fact Doom is overpaid. I wont say by much because to me he isnt. But he is by some. But I still dont want Revis. Not with him wanting a big new contract after this year and he isnt worth the headaches imo.

  6. louisianabroncofan says:

ya ab revis is tough to deal with. very true. lets just keep our first rounder…

  7. tlcat06 says:

Too much! We are paying Dumervil more than Revis is currently getting so we have to give him Dumervil AND a first rounder? You’ve got to be kidding me! I love Freeney and think he can be just as good as Dumervil, but I do not want Revis. Headache! We need someone who wants to be a team leader not a guy who just wants money and won’t even try and tackle. Honestly, his pathetic show against Tebow was ridiculous.

  8. wolfedom says:

Much as TRB and I were calling for Doug Martin last year I think Wolfe was an astounding draft pick so I guess I’m ok with it. Le’Von Bell is an animal and I would sure like us to pick him up this year. We need a big tough RB and he fits the bill. I still think we need to look at safety but if the front office is ok with what we have then I guess they know best. I still hope that they look at Jenkins from Georgia as the beef we need on the defense. Jonathan Franklin is another RB on my radar that I think would fit in real well. As far as Revis goes, no way, he is a prima donna, and I’ll keep our first pick.

  9. RkS MileHigh says:

I am going to start by saying that I personally am not a big fan of Monte Te’o. Yes, he did play good throughout his college career at ND but, he was absolutely exposed in the Championship game. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not to sure I want the guy starting in the middle of our defense to vulnerable. Not for nothing but there was a reason that Flacco and the Ravens attacked our secondary the way they did (granted a little bit of luck). When a team knows they can go at one guy all game it can be a very bad thing and I am positive that Alabama’s McElroy is no Tom Brady. So thats said, NO TE’O!

As for the other predictions, I like Sylvester but not too sure if he will still be on the board. Hankins will be there but I dont think thats the pick. He doesnt finish plays.

  10. 1nOnlyTRB says:

You fail to see your bias against him and thats fine. Never once have i said he is god like. Ive actually said he needs work but he will be a solid starter so once again, i do not know the bases of your information. And I saw a good portion of the bama game, probably the only game of his i have ever seen. Since it was a bowl game and i don’t follow college closely. I have my opinion you have yours, yours does not trump mine, nor the other way around, we will agree to disagree. While he is part of this blog post, a non bronco isn’t worth this back and forth.

    TRB

  11. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Wolfedom, we did clamor for Doug Martin but you are right, Wolfe did us solid. More impressed because he wasn’t on my radar, nor most bronco fans on the blog. I think bell is the ticket this draft, unfortunately if the scouts are starting to see what I saw as well, he just went from a 4th rounder to maybe a 2nd rounder. I still see lacy coming off the board first. Some say Wolfe didn’t do enough, i think he did more than most DE/DT hybrids, and for a rookie, he can only go up.

    TRB

  12. RkS MileHigh says:

Von feeds off Doom. Cant break that chemistry. Def think elvis could use a restructured contract though.

  13. wolfedom says:

Nice write up Tiff. I just wish I shared your optimism where Moore is concerned.

  14. RkS MileHigh says:

TRB, what about Eddie Lacy? I would take him all day over Bell.

  15. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Lacy is pretty good … in most drafts he will be a 2nd round talent tho. This draft he might sneak into 1. Honestly I think he will be very much like Ingram in the NFL. Just me tho. I like Bell for many reasons, size, game speed, power and finesse moves and he is a good receiver. unlike Lacy who split carries with the other dude (his name escapes me i don’t watch much college football) Bell for the most part carried the load. His combination of run ability, durability, and receiving skills make him a 3 down back. I think he is the best, doesn’t make him so, I was higher on him when I thought we could steal him in the third or fourth but none the less i think he is quite the talent, his hurdles are impressive, he spins off tackles well, strong stiff arm, above avg vision, Not the fastest guy but he works well with what he has. Even seen him change direction a few times (NFL Ds wont allow that). I think he is a nimble big man and thats why I am high on him.

    TRB

  16. alaskanbronco06 says:

The bases of my information comes fro watching his games and listening to his interviews. Also like I said before I think your point about Von knowing how OL dominating a DL affects a LB just points more to the fact we shouldnt take a LB especially at 28 where I dont see value for Teo but that we should take a DT that can help the DL not get dominated by an opposing OL. (And also like I said before the DL for ND was the only decent aspect for most of the game) Anyways agree to disagree.

  17. alaskanbronco06 says:

I agree with you about Lacy. I see him being a lot like Ingram in the NFL. Another RB that wouldve been a 2nd rounder in most drafts but went in the 1st due to lack of top talent at RB. I also agree with you about Bell. My biggest concern was his speed for a bigger back (I thought he would just be a little better version of Hester) Well he answered my concern and its nothing to worry about. I think if he stays around 230 he will be a very good back.

  18. alaskanbronco06 says:

Nuggets held on. Nice job Nuggets! Wilson Chandler has been straight up balling.

  19. tlcat06 says:

Wolfe, LOL Im just tired of everyone acting like Rahim was the only problem in that game. I could have added more than I added, but my point is, sure, he made the biggest blunder, but he is not the sole reason we lost that game.

  20. wolfedom says:

Tiff I agree he wasn’t the only reason we lost, that said he had a fairly good year this year but last year was terrible. I just question if he has what it takes between the ears to succeed. I don’t want him or Moreno but that’s just my opinion and Elway hasn’t asked for it yet. Keep your eye on the running back from UCLA,Franklin, he seems to be a good fit for our team and he is a good blocker as well.

  21. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

Hey cat,Prater should get some of that 30mil from Flacco too.

  22. tlcat06 says:

I seriously forgot about Prater. He makes that field goal we are sitting here talking about winning the Super Bowl.

I like a lot for running backs in this draft. I think we are going to have to get rid of one or two we already have.

  23. meangenegjco says:

The Broncos need to upgrade DT long term. However, MLB is the position for the greatest immediate improvement. Get Te’o and the use the second round pick for a DT.

  24. louisianabroncofan says:

i couldnt possibly disagree more meangene. our mlb position should be high on the list but not higher than dt. especially with irvin coming up to get a shot. and no way is teo worth a 1st round pick. now a good dt in the 1st then teo in the 2nd? i’m all over that!

  25. ScalptheChiefs says:

How would you guys feel about resigning Moreno, drafting a guy like Bell in the mid rounds, and then picking up a guy like Mike Turner? He was just released today. I wouldnt mind him on 3rd and short!

  26. strandoftds82 says:

Prater makes that FG, and we’re up by 17 points just seconds after the third quarter has started with Holidays KR for a TD, the Ravens would have folded and been one dimensional, game over Broncos win. You can’t just blame Moore.

  27. alaskanbronco06 says:

No need to resign Moreno. He isnt a FA. He is on his last year.

  28. strandoftds82 says:

Hows it going AB? I’m getting antsy and looking forward to FA in less than a few weeks. The curiosity of who we might be after is both fun yet driving me bonkers. But in a good way. LOL

  29. creed24 says:

If the doctors give a good bill of health to Marcus lattimore I say go after him in the mid rounds. Way too much upside on him. Also, LeVeon Bell is a guy I am really high on as well. I saw almost every game of his in college since I live in B1G country

  30. strandoftds82 says:

If we do not target Eddie Lacy, I’m for drafting Lattimore with a 4th rounder. He’s not only a solid RB but a young man of faith and great character. You can’t go wrong there.

  31. ScalptheChiefs says:

my bad, I think that would be a solid group of rbs though, for relatively cheap price. Who else is available?

  32. strandoftds82 says:

I see the OLB Sio Moore is moving up the draft boards. He’s an intriguing prospect possibly in the 2nd round. I wonder?!

  33. RH709 says:

Please no Turner. Getting those tough yards is as much about Oline as it is RB. We need a new RG (sorry kupe). Ramirez and a draft pick should fight it out for the starting spot.

  34. 1nOnlyTRB says:

We are trying to get younger RBs not older ones … why im against steven jackson even tho he is fantastic. No Turner either. We already have a bruiser over thirty, we are trying to get one under 30

All indication points to us going after shonn greene. I like Bell in the draft, but also latimore could end up being the steal. The great thing is we have RBs, So if we get shonn greene and latimore for example, Green can start contributing immediately, and latimore would not have to do too much his first season but rest up and get back into fighting shape. After next season it would be just about time for McGahee to go, leaving us with Green, Latimore. Hillman and the option to resign Moreno…. for example.

Dunno who we get for MLB in the draft or in what round … but something must be done, I refuse to have only Irving and that Jackson (or is it johnson) guy competing for the starting job. More competition fosters greater end product. And our current level of competition at mlb is equivalent to a special teamer v a practice sqauder … thats just sad.

    TRB

  35. strandoftds82 says:

This is the time of year where there is lots of smoke being blown, including by our Denver Broncos. Its all apart of the process. The Johns aren’t going to show there hand, even in FA.

  36. louisianabroncofan says:

well trb you make a good point. i dont want to leave the mlb position in those hands either. hopefully we do get a solid mlb in the middle rounds. i’m dying to get bell in the 3rd and would even say snag him with our 2nd rounder even tho we have bigger needs. in the 3rd or 4th rounds maybe we should think long and hard about picking one up. of course there is free agency and we can try to get one there too. maybe ellerbe or maualuga.

i just wish we had 3 3rd rounders, 3 2nd rounders, and about 6 first rounders this year. so aggravating and hard to come up with a way to fill all our holes with so few picks and that stupid salary cap. no wonder its so hard to win in the nfl! i mean with all of the players that will be available at the 28th pick it is impossible to make the perfect decision. not to mention aggravating. then you gotta wait until the end of the 2nd and only get one player again when you want about 4 of em. i guess thats why we love this game so much! among many other things is the intrigue, and alot of it!!

  37. louisianabroncofan says:

rh i’d like to give kuper another year and see if he can stay healthy. i know what you mean and dont disagree with it but i’d say give him the year to straighten up his injury prone reputation. to me also theres a few positions that could make us superbowl champions and we need to focus all of our attention there. i guess i’m saying we have a certain amount of overall ‘moves’ we can make in the offseason. and if we have say 10 (just throwing out a # for the point) moves we can make i say there are 10 moves that need to be made in other areas before that one needs to be made so thats the reason it shouldnt be made. not because its a bad move or a move i disagree with. his injury history is very troubling for sure.

  38. louisianabroncofan says:

i hope that made sense. sounded right on in my head anyway….

  39. IWILLX2 says:

Tere is no way I would trade Doom and our 1st for Revis. I say renegotiate Dooms contract and keep him along with our 1st. Doom is younger than Freeney and he and Miller works so well together. They truly feed off of one another. I am not sure if Freeney would complement Miller like Doom does. Revis is a DIVA, he is on the last year of his contract and will definitly ask for crazy money on his new contract and there is no sure thing that he will be willing to stay with us ( The Broncos ) after this year is up. I do believe we are solid at cornerback. we have Chris Harris who is a beast and is very yong, still learning with a whole lot of upside. we can resign Porter who was hurt for most of last season. Of course Champ for another 2 or 3 seasons. At safety we have #28 Quinton ( cant think of his last name who was hurt all last year, Rahim Moore who is getting better every year ( he made a terrible play in that Ravens game but had a solid season Adams, Bruton, and a couple of other guys who I cant think of, one that is solid,a special teams stand out and only been in the league for 2 or 3 years so he is still learning the position, getting better, and familiar with the speed of the game at a professional level. I think his name is Omar something. We should put our focus on a big solid Rb, a strong MLB, a huge DT, O-Line help at the Guard position, and that is it. We should be solid, a better team if we address those needs. Everyone is so quick to say Moore lost that game but it wasn’t just him or that play. Prater missed a fg before the half that would havemade the Ravenspretty much one dementional, Cghamp got burned twice ( over played one pass and got beat on another. A couple of things happened that game that kept us from winning. I we should have kept pressure on Flacco. He has happy feet and is terrified when players are around his feet, he gets confused when players are iin his face. He makes mistakes when the pressure is on him. I do understand Fox’s thinking. But we kept them in the game with our play calling on offense and defense. We should have had help over the top on every single play. Let them have the short stuff, stop the deep ball. We could hve atleast tried to drive the field with Manning fo a last second field goal. I do understand the decision to take it into overtime though with the way our players were looking after the Ravens scored that touchdown with I think it was 41 or 38 seconds left. I live in Baltimore BUTIhave been a BRONCOS fans since 1983, the year of the ELWAY. If Mareno had not got injured in that game, we would have killed them. I don’t know why Ball was not put in after Mareno’s injury, he must have not been on the active game day roster for that game. They must have went with Mareno, Hillman, Hester for our rb’s not thinking of injuries. Hind sight is something but I bet if we played that game IN Denver, same everything and I will bet my house that we win that game 10 out of 10 times. It was just meat for them to win that game that day. I cried my eyes out for weeks. I still hurt whenever I think about it. I might not evr get over that game then to have to listen to all of these avens fans scream and jump around saying they knew they were going to win and all that crap. I don’t believe that NO RAVENS fan believe that they were going to beat us that day. I was there at the Ravens game when we the MIGHTY BRONCOS came here to Baltimore and put an old fashion butt whippin on them the 12 week of the season and I m sure that NO Raven fan wanted to see us The MIGHTY BRONCOS IN Denver IN the play-offs. I saw the looks on all of the Ravens fns after tha game and they were disqusted. They were down and knew tha the Ravens could d nothing with us The MIGHTY BRONCOS. My buddy who is a die hard Ravens fan felt like we were the better team and that his Ravens could do nothing with us. It was just their day but check this. All my true Broncos fan go back to I thin it was 1995. We were i believe 13-3 with home field through out the play-offs a bye for the wild card week end. The Jaguars came to Denver and beat us with Brunell as their qb. NOBODY saw that coming. NOBODY believed it could or would happen but it did. The next year we came back even stronger, tougher, more prepared for the play-offs ( not taking any team for granted and went to and won our first SUPERBOWL ! We won back to back SUPERBOWLS people. I believe the same thing is going to happen with this team. We will remember the loss and it WILL inspire us to do better and to be more prepared for the season aswell as the play offs. We surely won’t be taking ANY teams for granted this season especially in the play offs. So everyone better watch out because we have a chip on our shoulders and we are going to take it out on every team we play. I am so excited to see it all take place and since we played the Ravens in the play offs, we will play them in the regular season and we will handle them like we should have in the play offs. Sorry for such a long reply but Ihad alot to get off of my mind. Peace out my brothers and sisters and I suggest you all look forward to next season because we will handle our BUSINESS !!!! GOOOO BRONCOS !!!!!!! IWILLX2 !!!!!!!!!! 2013 and 2014 will be OURS The BRONCOS !!!!!!!!

  40. IWILLX2 says:

Manti Teo looks very good in every game he played in besides the championship game and everyone is writing him off. He didn’t do too well at the combine and everyone is calling him a bust. I bet he proves everyone wrong. He will be a very successful N.F.L middle linebacker and he is going to make what ever team is smart enough to pick him. I think he is going to be the best MLB that comes out this year. He is going to help some team win alot of games. It’s a shame that people think because you don’t run a super fast 40 and don’t excell on the drills at the combine that you won’t make it in the N.F.L. For one thing, they run the 40 without pads or helmet on so that time is misleading. I am sure that no one runs the same time with full uniform on so it almost don’t make sense to make the players run the 40 without full uniform on. The drills somewhat gives you an idea of how a player can move, change direction, react, but again the guys are not in full uniform so it is very different. It’s a whole new game when you are on that field in full pads/helmet with 21 other guys on it with you. 10 with you 11 against you. It is totally different. You shouldn’t judge a guy because he had a bad day at the combine. Most players do alot better at their pro day anyway. So how do you call it when a person stink it up at the combine but kills it at their pro day. What kind of player will he turn out to be ? Can’t say can ya. Film tells it all ! You can’tor shouldn’t judge a player because of one bad game or because hedidn’t do too well on drills or at the combine or pro day. It doesn’t give you the whole story about a guy ( combine, pro day ). You have to look at his whole body of work up to that point especially his game film. That is how you judge what a plyer cando or how he MIGHT turn out in the N.F.L. Manti Teo will be a beast in the N.F.L. and will make what ever team that is smart enough to take him much better. On the defense side of the ball anyway. I said it first. Take Manti Teo, he is and will be the BEST MLB that is coming out this year. Mar my WORDS !!!!!! IWILLX2 !!!!!!!!!!

  41. strandoftds82 says:

I for one don’t want to dump Kuper just because he had a string of bad luckwith an injury bug in 1 years time. Chris Kuper is our best O-Lineman except for Ryan Clady. Getting rid of Kupe would be premature and a big mistake. Its too soon to cut him loose.

  42. RH709 says:

Was our best Olineman…I have liked having kupe and I wish him well but he good but not great and we no longer need him for leadership on the line.Without the injury I wouldnt push this but it is time.

  43. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Holy wall of text IWILLX2 lol

I’d lie if I said I read it all, but I skimmed through most of it. I do however agree with your assessment on Teo.

Randy Moss will be a free agent … Any Takers? I’d take him. SF didn’t know how to use him. A pass happy offense like Denver would. Much like Brady did. Ill start this off by saying I am bias for Moss. While this isn’t the best idea I’d like to see him win a ring. Him and Bay Bay on the outside, decker slotting it up ala Stokely … could be a force. Just a thought.

I think this could be the year we move up a couple of spots to ensure we get that cornerback/DT

  45. denverscott says:

Revis wants 16mil+ and will hold out for more in the future. Plus the ACL isn’t a slam dunk. Please don’t do this John, Please.

  46. IWILLX2 says:

Thank you 1nOnlyTRB. It is terrible how thy are all dogging the guy.. He will prove alot of them wrong.

  47. Gio says:

I watch a lot of film of the broncos and college football,as a die hard bronco fan and a football player myself I think that the broncos should really look into drafting ton jefferson the defensive back for the oaklahoma sooners.he is a solid player,he is not the replacement for rahim moore.moore will only get better, but tony jeffrson will be a good fit to play along side moore and improve fast from the expierence the broncos secondary have to offer.jefferson has what it takes to be the next ed reed and can help the broncos secondary shutdown big name recievers.

  48. Matt says:

We have to fill the void with the whol Elvis debacle. Take a linebacker or running back in the 2nd round.
