Thank you Dawk for playing your last few years as a Bronco. You are one of the best ever to play the game. You will be missed. Good luck with life off the field.
Dang. Gonna miss that guy. What a huge hole he leaves in the leadership of the D. I sure hope someone can step into those mighty big shoes.
Vaya con Dios, Wolverine.
Brian Dawkins is a natural born leader! Only fitting that he and John Lynch share some records!
That guy carsonic? More like the guy lol. He was the heart and soul of not only the defense but of the team! He exemplified everything you should stand for! Strong Faith High Motor and No Quit. His energy made this team what it was and his willingness to sacrifice his body to make the smallest of plays is second to none. We only enjoyed 3 years of Weapon X but those were the 3 wonderful years and I hope he comes back in some capacity to the team that still believed in him even after his other team gave up! Thanks for everything Brian you were amazing and everything you’ve done for the team and Broncos Country is appreciated!
Well, I guess they aren’t records, but they share a few spots on the record lists, if anyone wants to get technical…
HOF career, can’t argue that!

One of the reasons the Broncos signed Brian Dawkins in 2009 was because they’d lost nearly all of their long-term leaders in the previous three years, a group that included WR Rod Smith, QB Jake Plummer, C Tom Nalen, LB Al Wilson and S John Lynch. Dawkins provided the defense — and the entire locker room — a touchstone and focal point. But with QB Peyton Manning’s arrival, DE Elvis Dumervil’s maturation, LB Von Miller’s ascension and CB Champ Bailey’s presence, the Broncos appear set for leaders without Dawkins.
wow, i thought he would come back to us. This makes Rahim Moore really have to step up his game.
Congrats on the H.O.F. career, glad to of had you on are team for the last 3 years. Best wishes on your future voyages.
Gonna have to wear my Dawkin’s jersey draft day now instead of Atwater’s.
I guess Mike Adams will get to be #20 again but this sucks so much it is a sad day in the Mile High City
I salute u Dawk!!
Love the by the numbers series btw Gray, dunno if I ever said that.
When u are in the company as John Lynch u had a great career at safety. Nothing but love for Dawk. His Faith and Passion is inspiring. Such an intense player. As I type this I reminisce on his entrances and can hear and see him firing up the troops. Will be missed indeed. The Definition of a Field General.
Later days, TRB

wow an era going once again. hard to see someone like dawk hangin em up. he was an INCREDIBLE athlete and an instinctful player. was glad to have him and he would definately make a great coach. you dont get much smarter or harder working than dawkins. our young safeties desparately need him.
great to hear from baylin again though. I’m sure hoping you reconsider and get back on this blog. its not quite what it was without your posts. i hadnt seen that response from tide but i woulda chimed in if i had. bay definately made this blog better and attacks like that are just stupid. STUPID. others made similar, if not quite as personal, attacks on you tho, and i guess i see what you meant by it not being fun anymore. you couldnt post your comments without being outright attacked instead of debated at times. i guess immaturity is part of what drove you out but dont let it win man, ignore it. you and most of our bloggers know what you did for this blog, and thats what should matter, not a couple of people out of line. i dont know why anyone would post such crap towards another blogger. people need to quit with the personal attacks. if you dont like someones opinion, debate it respectfully or flat out IGNORE IT.
If you haven’t already seen it, there is a great video tribute on Dawkins:

No doubt he will be missed, we need our other leaders to step up in his place!!!
Well said LBF!
Well said TRB!
That leadership void will no doubt be immediately filled by Mr. Manning…
Daddybronc, no worries!
Bay and OC on the day Dawkins retires!
Draft 4 days away.
It’s going to be a good week!
Nice job LBF!
Dawk’s retirement does not change our draft if you are concerned about that. The front office was not expecting him to play this year.

Most have pointed to DT as the Broncos’ primary position of need as the draft nears, but executive VP John Elway doesn’t see it that way. “In our minds, it’s not nearly the need that people think it is,” he said Monday. Denver’s top three DTs include two players coming off injured reserve (Ty Warren and Kevin Vickerson) and two over the age of 30 (Warren and Justin Bannan).

In addition to the 60 players the Broncos met with at the Scouting Combine, the Broncos have had “10 to 12″ players visit the facility for one-on-one interviews in recent weeks, executive VP John Elway said. The Broncos’ visit list reportedly includes QBs Kirk Cousins (Michigan State) and Ryan Lindley (San Diego State), UConn DT Kendall Reyes and Utah State RB Robert Turbin.
Elway says they are taking the best player available at 25. I don’t doubt his word on this. He is in it for the long term and and always says that picking for need is a higher risk because you pass over better talent to fill spots.

Besides doing some high-school coaching, Brian Dawkins doesn’t know what his future plans are. But he knows where his future lies — in the Denver area. “This is a beautiful place and my family loves it here,” he said Monday. “I’ll raise my kids here.”
Congratulations on a great career Weapon X always a class act.
Sndvl is the contest still open for the draft
Thanks for everything big dawk. U are truly a great leader and player.
Bay it is always good to hear from you. Glad ur doing well and hope u come back. Really miss the mornig news and haved always agreed with most of your opinions.
Just sayin.
It’s open until 1159pm (mountain standard time US) Wednesday the 25th!
I hope we trade down, but I just don’t think we’ll have any takers where we sit..
Pick 25
a. Michael Brockers – almost 90% sure Brockers will be there at 25 he should be the pick
b. Mark Barron – with Dawkins retired Barron is an option at 25 IF he is there i see him landing in Dallas
c. Donta Hightower – dont see how the Steelers could pass him up at 24 but if they do he will 100% be the pick
Pick 57
a. LaMichael James – at 57 Martin Miller and Wilson will all be gone Denver needs another RB behind Willis
b. Derek Wolfe – this guys stock is increasing big time even if denver goes DT in the first it wouldnt hurt to go with another
c. Zac Brown – with Williams suspended Elway may look to trade him or find a replacement… I would be okay with Brown here
Pick 87
a. Brock Osweiler – Hanie is not the future Elway will find Denvers future after Manning in THIS draft… Brock is the guy
b. Philip Blake – if Denver doesnt decide to go QB in the 3rd they could be looking to upgrade the center position, Blake could be an immidiate starter
c. Josh Norman – Even tho Porter signed we could still use another young corner, i dont see Asante coming to Denver Norman could be great learning from Bailey
Pick 108
a. Chase Minnifield – the secondary needs to be addressed
b. Kirk Cousins – if Osweiler doesnt work out cousins could be the guy
c. Bernard Pierce – Elway may decide to wait on a RB Pierce would be a solid #3 guy behind McGahee and Fannin (IMO will be a beast)
Pick 120
a. Chris Rainey – with royal gone we need a KR/PR also it would give Manning a weapon in the backfield or a slot WR
b. Daquan Menzie – Corner may get skipped with the first 4 picks Boldin would be a solid late 4th round corner
c. Senio Kelemente – Depth on the o-line is always good
Thank you for everything Dawk!
To LAX, LBF, OC, and anyone else who may have commented on Bay’s post earlier, know that I apologized to Bay on more than one occasion for lambasting him on here, but apparently he has been stewing on all of this since January. Kind of sad, really.
It’s too bad that this blog was obviously such an integral part of his life that he took it so personally, and allowed my comments to make him tuck tail and run.
Regardless, it means more to him, and to many others of you, than it ever will to me. I don’t need it to live a happy, fulfilled life, or to support my Broncos. Therefore, this is my final post on here, so maybe your buddy, Bay, will finally come out of hiding and grace your days again with his posts, now that I’ll no longer be on here.
You guys have fun!
Say it ain’t so Tide…. I always enjoy your posts. It may not be my place, but the way I see it, Tide has apologized. Everyone deserves a second chance, and it would be nice to see both of you set a good example for the younger bloggers and make up, or at least be able to coexist. Life is too short to hold grudges, and we have very exciting times upon us as Broncos fans! Too bad the one time we need daddybronc force feeding us life lessons, he’s away….
Its always a sad time to see bloggers go but it is what it is and whatever that person does is completely up to them.
Im also sad to see a true leader and an exeptional player leave the field but again.. it is what it is. I wish Dawk the best in whatever the future holds. (hopefully a safety coach for us… but thats just me haha)
But on a lighter note

IVE GOT WEEK 5 (October 7th) TICKETS TO SEE THE DENVER BRONCOS @ NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS YEA BUDDY!!!!!!!
Too bad i dont get to see dawk play..
Good to hear from you Bay but it doesn’t help when you come in and post what someone else said before which just causes problems…
It doesn’t matter what was said in the past. Just tired of seeing things being brought back up! I have said countless times that we all need to respect one another on this blog. Obviously you can choose whether or not you want to post on these blogs but just please don’t rev up people if you do decide to post.
Hope you have been doing well and hope you have found something to take up some of your time since about all of it was spent here.
Hey DenverCB…
I might be at that game. I will keep you updated when the time gets closer on whether or not I decide to go. If I do we should meet up and have a beer or something!
Von_Dumervil…
Would be nice if we got Bruce Irvin somewhere in the 2-4th rounds. Him, Miller, and Doom would be an absolute force!!
With Elways comments about DT’s, I think we’ll grab one with our 2nd round pick and probably our first 4th round pick. I think we get a very explosive player at #25 whether that be Hightower, Martin, Hill, Jeffery, etc.
Yea Freak, For sure keep me posted. Im going 100% Paid a truck load of money for my tickets tho haha, worth every penny, My First NFL game and its broncos pats. My buddy im going with is a big pats fan too so really hoping it will be a great show.
This is getting ridiculous. Tide, theres no need for you to leave. There was no need for bay to leave. There is no need for anyone to leave. All that happens is less contributions from 2 great contributors and long time bronco fans. Tide you can’t say Bay tuck tail and run and then do the same thing. And understand, this is not an attack on you. I enjoy both you and Bays post for different reasons. We need to all stop taking things to personally on here. We won’t always agree. Indeed u did apologize to Bay for lambasting him and also said it wasn’t ur goal to drive him off and would be happy to see him post once more. I don’t believe he was stewing … but his post was to show that his thoughts on what Dawkins should do was indeed in accordance with what Dawkins ended up doing and to show he was a good terms with Coop, 2 things u addressed.
I won’t pretend to try to lecture you guys as you are both far older than me and have experienced much more of life than I have but seriously there is no reason we all can’t coexist. But if you truly feel its time to hang it up, that is quite alright tide, as it was with Bay. I enjoyed your insight and like you once told bay after he left, “You are welcome back anytime”.
Later Days, TRB out…
I’m going to have to agree with broncosfreak, if you are going to return why do it just to rehash something and cause problems? It’s just a blog, no need to hold grudges.
I don’t get it
If anyone is trying to go to the Week 15 game at Baltimore let me know!
Just so you guys know, I’m okay with backing off so Bay will MAYBE feel more comfortable here. It truly isn’t a big deal to me, and I have a lot going on with my garden and remodeling this house. I’m honestly and seriously NOT leaving because I feel unwanted or driven, but Bay adds more to this blog than I ever have, or ever will, and he is missed by many, and not only that, he probably enjoys blogging more than I do.
OT, THANKS!! You’ve always been one of my favorites on here, and Turtle, you too! I’ll be reading from time to time as I have been for years, but I truly want Bay to feel welcome on here again, and he probably won’t as long as I’m posting regularly. Maybe in the fall, if things start hopping madly, I’ll have to butt in occasionally, but it’s been fun, for the most part. Just want to back off for now, and maybe Bay will come on back and join you guys again. Seriously, I’m good and not trying to make any kind of a grand exit….just taking break to watch my vegetables grow and renovate this old family home. Life is good. “smile:
Go Broncos!
Here is my mock draft for the contest. It’s not necessarily a mock draft of whom I think we’ll get but who I believe we should get.
Pick 25
a. Martin
b. Hightower
c. Jeffery
Pick 57
a. Reyes
b. Still
c. Wolfe
Pick 87
a. Bruce Irvin
b. Winn
c. Amini Silatolu
Pick 108
a. T.Y. Hilton
b. Nick Jean-Baptiste
c. Robert Turbin
Pick 120
a. Emmauneul Acho
b. Terrell Manning
c. Philip Thomas
With our 5th or 6th rounder, I see us getting Samuel somehow. This is why I didn’t project any CB’s on my mock draft. We need another true shutdown corner ESPECIALLY with the offenses we are facing this year! Samuel is the missing piece to our secondary!!
I love that 3rd round pick with Irvin! Such a raw prospect who has a high ceiling
DenverCB…
If I go it will be with my brother and he is a huge Pats fan so we will both team up on them!!
Broncos Superbowl Bound baby!
Thank you Atwater…
I really love Acho as well! He is Sam Achos brother who looks like he could be a huge force! Plus he is a OLB which we will need with DJ’s absence!
Honestly though, I would LOVE to trade up and take Luke Kueckly. Adding him to our defense would be HUGE!! He is a good cover guy who knows how to tackle!! I believe if we add him, Asante, and a good DT then we are set on defense!!
Here’s to dreaming!
Its going to be a great game, have a few drinks before hand to get loose, Raz some pats fans on thier home turf haha. Ive never been to any real big sporting event. Just turned 21 so i can legally drink in the states now.
Best case scenario both teams are 4-0 going into the game and we pull off the win in OT!!!
DenverCB….. Best case scenario is the Broncos are 4-0 and the Pats are 0-4 and we totally kick the living crap out of them lol…… At least that’s MY best case scenario lol
Melo haha that would be the BEST case, but the suspense of 4-0 would be intense. But ill take the Pats going 0-4 anyday!!
yeah I see where you’re going with the suspense aspect of both being 4-0, But I hate the pats and would LOVE to see them fail….. Either way GO BRONCOS!!!
Can’t wait ’til Thursday!!!
I would be ok if Denver moved up 7-8 spots and got Fletcher Cox, Kuechly, or Gilmore. Everyone is talking about moving back, but I think each of these guys are worth it and likely will be gone by 25
I completely forgot about Thursday, it sucks because im working 12 hour days and wont be able to catch it on TV, but i will pay attention online and ill probably be on the blog reading what everyone has to say
