On Tuesday, the Broncos war room got a surprise visitor — recently retired safety Brian Dawkins.
Dawkins entered the room to thank everyone in it for the opportunity to play in Denver, and there were lots of smiles, hugs, laughs and some heartfelt interaction.
Before he left the room, however, Owner/CEO Pat Bowlen, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway, Head Coach John Fox, General Manager Brian Xanders and the rest of the war room had a surprise for Dawkins as well.
The group presented him with a framed No. 20 jersey, which Dawkins said he truly appreciated.
Dawkins is expected to meet the media at approximately noon MDT today, and DenverBroncos.com will have more coverage of his visit to Dove Valley this afternoon.

The only problem with a couple of the trades especially in the first round is that it’s really unknown who’s going to take McClellin or Fleener, that said I would love both of those trades and think if we just stay put with all of those picks we would be fine.. but you took it a step further and got us Kendall Reyes, Lavonte David AND Derek Wolfe. I would love if this happens and would definitely praise John Elway as one of the all-time greats on both the field and in the office..
I also don’t like Ballard, I’ve looked at a couple of his video reels and he just looks flat.. A couple of guys that could possibly be available in the same range as him in Cyrus Gray and Chris Polk both look like studs in the making, so who ever EFX likes.

Its unknown I was just throwing in a player I think those teams want. Its known the Packers and Patriots are both interested in McClellin. As for Fleener, if i were the Colts GM I would make sure i got Lucks guy to help him in the NFL which is why i went that way.
Also Ballard IMO is the best RB available in the 5th round. I dont think Gray or Polk will fall to the 5th.

Yeah if the Colts got Luck his Fleener to replace Tamme and learn from Dallas Clark(if he’s still there, don’t remember) they definitely are starting off on the right foot moving forward.
I think Polk is being pegged a late 4th and Gray an early 5th with Pollard being mid/late 5th, but I might be wrong.. Also I’m still high on Miller, Martin and Wilson.

Ballard is a 4th-5th round. While Gray is a 3rd-4th and Polk is now considered a solid 2nd round pick.
Dallas Clark is gone. But every QB needs his safety net. Which is a TE. Fleener was Lucks at Stanford. Keeping them together in the NFL will be great for them both.
Really Polk is ranked that high? that seems crazy to me, I know I said he’s a stud in the making but he’s going to take a couple years to be a starter. Gray makes sense I guess and Ballard makes sense as well, so I guess if Ballard is all that’s left I’d take him.
I understand the Colts wanting Fleener, but I think it’s highly probable he drops from the first round to them at 34.
I think if we could get enough bloggers involved we could probably have a blogger mock draft, but it’s a little late this year to set something up… only problem would be everybody jockeying for the Broncos pick
I actually thought about doing that. Having a few bloggers take 2 or 3 teams depending how many bloggers we can get. It is to late this year though.
I dont think Fleener will be there. Also have to take in mind that other teams may be interested in trading up for him also.
Maybe we should see what everybody else thinks about it at the beginning of the offseason next year and set something up. Maybe we could set it up by division like one person per, so one person gets AFC South another gets NFC South and so on.. depends on how many people would like to do it I guess..
Many people think that Fleener benefited from having Luck as his QB and not the other way around so they’re treating him with kid gloves, so it comes down to need at TE and I don’t think any team thinks that they have such a big need at TE that they should reach for him, but hey I might be wrong… as I normally am.
Also doing mock trades is harder than I thought it would be, mostly because I have no idea how much future picks are worth..
Yea those future picks are a B***h. Thats what makes it hard. I hate throwing in future picks in there and when I do i basically guess at it to try and make it even.
It could be set up tomorrow and be done before the draft but it would be hard to get it all set up in 24 hours. I know if we did it Id want the AFC north. The Browns have the key to what happens at the start then the Bengals and Steelers in the middle and start of the late.
I tried to just make the future picks equal to the minimum value for the round, but that doesn’t make sense to me because lots of teams value now over the future and some teams overvalue the future over the now.. argh
I’d love if we could set up a simple draft tomorrow maybe start it late tomorrow and finish it early before the draft Thursday, if we did do something like that I’d AFC South or NFC West. Jags and Seahawks/Cardinals are major players in the rest of the draft. Plus getting to pick Luck would just be fun..
Lol. If we could get is all set up before 6 pm blog time we could start a little big later.Go till 10 pm blog time or so then start again noon blog time Thursday and finish it at 3 pm blog time.
If there interest in it when i get on in the morning ill look into it more. Everyone would have to name the position school name (Of course) and a small paragraph as to why they made the pick. Then I or someone else can keep track and type or write up all the picks and see what happens and compare to the actual draft.
All we really need is 8 people picking 4 teams each. That should be easy to get I think. I think I will try and get it all set up tomorrow.

Well If anyone is interest (need at least 6 more people) please just name the division you want. If your going to partake please make sure you will be able to be on 6pm blog time the night of the 25. Hopefully we can get it done tomorrow night but if we dont then make sure you can be on Noon Thursday if you have a pick then. I hope to be done before 5 pm blog time (hour before draft starts).
To make your pick you put Round 1 Pick 1 Team selects Player Position School
then description. Like in the draft you have 10 minutes to make the pick and type it all up. No trades. If after 10 minutes and a 5 minute grace period (So basically you have 15 minutes to make your pick) then the pick is forfeit and it goes to the next pick. Also after your description you have to add the previous picks. Just the picks not the descriptions. So only description should be yours for your pick.
Between picks you can offer your thoughts on the pick. I would prefer no arguing for it as we will be the “GMs” for the teams but would be nice to hear the opinions of the picks.
I hope to get enough people interested to do it. I know its late but next year I will set it up earlier. I think it will be a fun time and get to hear others thoughts on all the picks.

The Atlanta Falcons are finallizing a deal with Asante Samual. The trade will be completed sometime today. It was a good thought to go after him anyway.
Thx for the News strand. I cant say Im dissapointed we didn’t get him. Sure we could reconstruct his contract but where would he play. Would he play 2nd or 3rd cb. What did they promise porter? Just seemed messy to me. Too many egos for one secondary.

I have really come to like and want Luke Kuechly. THE DUDE IS A TACKLING MACHINE!!! Right now he is projected to go to the Chiefs and that is the last thing we need – for him to go to a rival (division foe). So I hope the Broncos can somehow leap the chiefs and get him, but that is probably a pipe dream!!!

Im kinda curious what the sudden spike in Luke Kuechly is … the man is a clear beast. He has been the top LB in the draft since the end of the season just amazed how much support he is getting now. He would be amazing to have. Very cerebral dude with production. There was question about his athleticism but he put that to rest at the combine. I would not be shocked if he goes in the top 10. No way we get him but I suppose I shouldn’t trample on peoples dreams lol. “anythign is possible” just 99.9% unlikely
RBF1, They’ve been all about the best players. They don’t reach. They wanna draft starters. Doesn’t shock me one bit. Thats why they have been saying “DT is not as much a need as people seem to make it”. I feel like they a prepping us for a NONE DT pick in the first round lol

Very true TRB! Last season was an eye opener as I was thinking Marcel Dareus would be first pick. Not saying Dareus would have been a reach but after watching Von Miller, you know he was much more of the impact player Broncos were looking for.

So if you’re looking for impact player with 25th pick, Martin makes sense. That’s if he’s there because Browns have their eye on him with 22nd pick, I believe. This depending on what they with their 4th selection.
I’d be alright with a DE selection as well, since DT is not a position that has any need.

Schnieder wouldn’t shock me. I see Doug Martin being the pick as well. Which wouldn’t shock me at all. After getting DeAngelo Williams, I believe they spent a 20 somthign pick on Stewart. Thats the same range we are picking and with Doug Martins popularity picking up and thier need for a more solid RB, They may. Altho in the same breath. Depends on how many Rbs go by 25. They have also been looking at Robert Turbin alot so who knows. I definitely know they want a durable RB.

Turbin is a hard runner. I’m sure there was some concern with how he recovered from his injury, but he should be good to go.
Chris Polk was a workhorse at UW and also had a couple of shoulder surgeries.

After getting tattoos of my wife’s and daughter’s names, it’s time for my third love………my broncos. I’m planning on getting a helmet with the old “D” logo on it, which is my favorite. The wife has dibs on money for the next tattoo, as I’ve had two since her last one……..so hopefully I’ll get it in the fall. I LOVE ink!
