Confident While Committed

October 12th, 2009 - 4:03pm by Zach Eisendrath

Now 5-0 after a hard-fought, come-from-behind win over the Patriots on Sunday, Head Coach Josh McDaniels can really see his team buying into the “do your job” mentality.

“The players are confident, I think,” McDaniels said. “I think they trust our game plans, and I think we trust them to execute our game plan.”

Following the team’s dramatic win, Mario Haggan called the club’s confidence level “sky-high.” Nonetheless, he said everyone within the locker room realizes they have a lot of work to do moving forward.

“I think we’ve been confident for a long time,” he said. “I don’t think you can win a game without being confident. I just think people are starting to notice some of the things that we’ve done.

“We’re only 5-0, we’re not Super Bowl winners and we’re not in the playoffs,” Haggan added. “We’re just 5-0.”

Not only are coaches and players at Dove Valley echoing that sentiment, even Broncos legend Rod Smith, who was on hand for the 20-17 overtime victory, has noticed how well the team has been on the same page throughout its undefeated start.

“Those guys fight for each other,” Smith said. “Talking to some of the players, they said, ‘The one thing I love about our team is that it’s unselfish.’ Everybody on this team is really thinking about the guy next to them, and they’re making some things happen.”

Although victorious, McDaniels knows the Broncos have to clean up miscues committed in Sunday’s game if the team wants to walk away a winner in its divisional road game at San Diego in Week 6.

Once the team returns to the film room later in the week, he and the rest of the coaching staff will pinpoint those errors and hammer home the proper plan. Above all, McDaniels said he will make sure the team stays focused on the task at hand.

“As long as you understand where you are and what you are dealing with, which is we have won five games, (but) we didn’t play our best football game yesterday,” he said. “I think we played maybe one play better than they did, just a little bit better, and that is why we ended up winning the game. Certainly, we left a lot out there on the field in every phase. We can coach better. We can play better, and they will see that on the film. I don’t have to create that, and no coach on our staff is going to have to create it either because we just watch the film and that is the proof.”

Noteworthy:

McDaniels elected to give his team the day off on Monday. With a long week of preparation for next Monday’s AFC West clash with the Chargers on the horizon, he felt his players earned a much deserved day of rest, thanks to the come-from-behind victory.

“You try to give them a little bit of extra rest and also give them a little reward for playing a tough, physical game,” McDaniels said. “(We are) just trying to give them a little bit of a bone as we head into a long week because we are going to have a long week: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday practice.”

I live in Minnesota now and I will always be a die-hard Bronco fan. For all those doubters, I hope they now believe in the team. Players and coaches come and go but Broncos are forever. I am getting tired of those supposedly expert football analysts talking trash about our team and giving props to Favre, who in my mind, will never be as great as John Elway. Watch them jump ship now and pretend as though they never said anything bad about the Broncos! 5-0! Go Broncos!

  2. Bronco-blaze says:

If i may say i kind of agree….The chargers have pushed us around and emarrised us for the last few years. If your a true bronco fan your still pissed off at stupid rivers owning us and BLOWING US OUT. IM happy as all heck at 5-0. Honestly with a realistic outlook i also saw us 4-1 at this point..BUT WERE NOT! You cant be pissed or sad at beating the cowpokies and the pats..I MEAN THE PATS! How sweet is that!. However i think its fair that divisional wise the broncos need to step up and beat the chargers. Even if we lost against them ill be supporting them just as much as i did when we were losing in the pre-season. BUT LETS FACE IT!!!!!!!!! THis feeling would feel COMPLETE with beating the chargers w/o a fluke play. 5-1 i wouldnt be mad about but 6-0 after beating a team that has made us look pathetic and like fools for the last few years, and beating high calibur teams like the cowpokes and pats…Well thats something to complete the feeling.

Lets go on a get a win in SD!

Hi from Germany. Over here it is not easy to follow the games. 4 pm ET is 10 pm in my time zone. This game however kept me awke. What a win!
We had some almost heartstopping situations. The tipped ball to Gaffney looked like a sure INT at first. A 2nd fumble could have easily been called. 2 penalties on punts drove me crazy. A NE FG on this drive would have put the game out of reach. Anyway, lucky or not, I enjoyed this win very much.
What did I like about the game plan? More passes to the TE’s than in the games before.
What do I hope for? Higher efficiency on 3rd and short (Hillis!). Better coverage on opponents returns, better yardage on own returns.
The ILB’s gave up some importants receptions over the middle. On both TD’s Woodyard was close to the receiver, but not close nough to make the tackle. On the other hand – defensive perfection by NE would have made BM’s TDs impossible. He is a beast!
Go Broncos!!! Beat those Frightened Bolts!!

LOL @ your outfit Greatness. Hey you pulled it off though. You see these clowns acting like they knew this all along. I see why you let the bottom feed have this. Any bus they leave me out. I like to sit up front not the back. lol Everyone were true fans. Everyone who had a chance trashed Kyle, Brandon, MCD, and X. Not to mention the D. Draft day people wanted this player. Why we get this player? You can drive the mindless sheep that don’t know yall.

Reason Peyton not getting more touches is that he is lost out there. When he doesn’t come out there at FB. He either lines up in the wrong spot or forgets his route. on another note. Brian Dawkinks had the D making noises like horses Sunday. lol They were going crazy.

I love the fact we unbeaten. To stay that way we have to tighten things up. Phillip, Eli, Big Ben, Peyton, and McNabb not gonna miss like Romo and Brady did. I know Phillip is geeked to beat us. So we have to be on our game. We gotta get to him. I know now McD won’t let them have a let down game. Nor will Nolan. Perfection in every phase is the key. Not just a winning record. I’ve been saying that. Now that the you’ll see attitude has worn off and he being his self not Bill. He has been saying that to.

  6. brian_schneider says:

All this stuff about the offseason and what the Broncos would do throughout the season, (winning 3 games), it doesn’t mean anything. In the same respect it doesn’t mean anything that we’re 5-0. Like McD and the team say, it is nice to be 5-0 but 5-0 doesn’t get you anything. The most important game is the next one. To all those doubters, Crow is a dish best served cold.
There Chargers are not charged, they’re stuggling a bit to find themselves this season. That doesn’t mean we take them lightly at all. If we can play like we did against NE and ditch the penalties and turnovers we have a definite chance to gain even more ground in the division. We still need to remain focused and remember what happend to our 3 game lead last season. However, I don’t think that McD would let that happen. I expect him to keep the intesity up along with the team. We can do this, when no one expects anything of you and then you prove them wrong they will only expect it from you until you prove them right. What I mean by that is no one expected the Broncos to be 5-0 (experts). The fans new we could do something good. Now all the experts are on the Broncos bandwagon. However if we lose against SD then they’ll be back to their olds selves saying how the Broncos aren’t for real and expect them to lose their next 3 games blah blah blah. I give our team and coaches credit, gotta have thick skin to be in the NFL. So far nothing has penetrated and we continue to play good football. Lets take it to the Chargers and Lights OUT ‘em.

    Go Broncos!!!!! Wildhorse4ever!! LOL

  7. killerkod says:

I have to admit that I wanted Orton out before the regular season started but with each start he has definitley earned my respect as the starting QB and leader of this offense. He has made excellent decisions on where to throw the ball and since taking off that glove, has a lot of zip on that ball too. Leading the team to crucial scores in the 4th quarter is by no means an easy feat. Now that BMarsh has his head into the game, Royal finding some open space and Schef getting into the mix, this is a very dangerous offense through the air.

I love Moreno’s game, especially given he’s just a rookie. The one thing that’s disappointed me is his short yardage game. He’s lost quite a few battles so far on 3rd or 4th and inches. Not sure why McD keeps calling his number on those plays when he just can’t get it done. I thought that’s why we had Jordon.

And what can be said about our D other than pure AWESOMENESS! These guys never quite on a play, and are sick tacklers. They always make the right adjustments throughout a game and never get burned on the same play twice. I love their intensity!

Here’s to sticking it to Rivers and the Chargers next week! This will be a statemement game by both teams but I know McD will have these guys well prepared to take the bolts down!

    GO BRONCOS!

  8. vabroncoguy says:

Voice of unreason…still don’t like Orton….Nolan coach of the year…McD still makes way too many critical mistakes coaching guess cause he is a rookie…Broncos are by far the LUCKIEST team in the NFL>>>we have to play much better…The D rocks, they are pretty darn good…Orton has been saved by receivers if you actually watch…I will say this and go, do you know how scary this team would be if they had a QB…they would be legit SB contenders. Done!!!

  9. #24-PickSixAllDay says:

i def think moreno should hae a lead blocker it would also help with pass blocking and having an extra body that can catch if need b..this is where i would use hillis for instance on a goaline use an option where it can be a run unless orton see diff. then he would have two reciever with moreno and hillis running in the flats for an easy score. Moreno and bucky would have so many more opportunities useing a lead blocker….i think we should seriously consider that as a team

  11. #24-PickSixAllDay says:

Orton has been playing at a high level and has done very well for us given the amount of time he has had to play with us. Look at the numbers and on the field play is orton perfect…of course not but he has over 1200 yards passing 7 tds and one pick and it took a future hall of fame reciever to get that pick…how many quarterbacks can come into a brand new system and play at this high of level?? who else Brett farve?? o ya i forgot he only has every QB record known to man…Orton has 97.5 QB rating….seriously how can you b disapointed with that…what more do you want and plus the first three weeks marshall was a second string and slot reciever so he did not have marshall to throw to and eddie was being double covered…n guess what orton still won in a very good fashion…what would happen if you took moss away fropm brady and double covered wes welker….Lol need i say more? Orton has been playing very well. is he a Tom brady no and maybe never will be, but as of now he has every opportunity to turn into one.

#24picksixallday, the guy you’re just arguing with is looking for exactly that, you’re new so you don’t know, you’ll learn. Many bloggers are purely antagonistic and come on just to batch your team one way or the other, the best way to deal with them is to ignore them, they hate that. You probably noticed I didn’t even address him by his handle, he is not worthy, you’ll see, even if we win the super bowl he ‘ll still put out his hatred on us… Anyway, welcome to the club, young man, we have a lot of young fans here who are real knowledgeable and true Bronco fans like Dr. Chris and florio’s mom and many more. And old dudes like me, Dynamic Dave, Orange Crusher and many more who have been hard core fans since the seventies. So plenty of guys to have meaningful discussions with and a handful of handles who are a total waste of time to even acknowledge. Such is the way of the bloggosphere in the NFL…

  15. brian_schneider says:

#24-PickSixAllDay: That’s what I first thought too, needing a lead blocking back. For the longest time under Shanny that was our bread and butter. HB + FB = great ground game. Obviously this system is the Patriouts knock-off with some our McD own stuff. They don’t use much of lead blocking backs. They make more use of the TE for blcoking, which is sometimes good and bad. A lead blocking back would hopefully clock well enough to get you that 1-yd gain or someting like that. Maybe he’s keeping something in his back pocket for later this season. I too would like to see Hillis more. Not for sure what is going on but I’m suprised we haven’t seen more of him.

  16. Broncfalls says:

    vabroncoguy,

Sorry but gotta call ya out in a respectful manner.

Did we watch the same game? Recievers making him look good? I watched Kyle put balls where only the receiver could get them. Smart plays! Those passes to Eddie Royal were tight and down.

Remember, at the point in which Kyle’s drives where going on, he made clear, smart, and tight decisions to keep the chains moving. Time off the clock and most importantly Brady off the field.

What do you want from Kyle? Seriously. Do you watch JMac’s press conferences? It’s his system, it’s a system where the QB position requires intelligence more than athletiscism. There are way to many skilled players on offense for Kyle to go for the flashy, high risk pass when it might not be there.

It’s easy to go back and say he missed that he missed this…but here’s one for you…Kyle out played Tom Brady on Sunday! Does that mean Kyle is better or ever will be better than Brady? Nope….but what it does mean is that on Sunday Kyle was the better quarterback and was the reason the Broncos are 5-0.

Outside of Peyton Manning & Eli Manning….what QB out there is lighting it up? Sure there are very good QB’s out there playing well now. Favre, Palmer, Falco, etc…oh and Kyle!

I guess everyone’s perception of an effective QB is different. In my opinion Kyle is the perfect candidate for this offense. Will he be next year? We don’t know! However, I think it’s silly to be sitting 5-0 and say we need a QB when he was a big reason we’ve been successful.

Just my thoughts….again, I certainly respect your opinion though. I know when it’s all said and done, you and I still bleed Orange and Blue LOL! it’s just ouR passion for our team!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  17. #24-PickSixAllDay says:

maybe the reason hillis hasnt been played more is because thigh may be acting up from his injury last year…if you think about it during the browns game when he fumbled and then ran the goalline touchdown…that has been it for him besides specail teams play..maybe McDaniels does not to want to put Hillis into injury situation and re injure his leg and wants him to get healthy for down the stretch for games against the colts, eagles, ranvens, etc where hillis hands out of the backfield maybe the answer needed on offense especially when you dont want to throw across the field and b picked off by ed reed or polamalu…the flats could be the answer down the stretch, but who knows lol im just speculating

  19. vabroncoguy says:

baylin…interesting, but did you not notice all the good things I have said about the defense and Coach Nolan? I have also said that if we had a QB we would be legit SB contenders, especially the way the D is playing. Do you really think that even the front office is think ing that we are ok at Qb with Orton at the helm. Even “fans” like yourself have called Brandstater the future of this franchise and KO is not up in age. You have to admit that although KO’s stats are fantastic, his actual play on the field has been far less than that. He has been bailed out a lot by receivers on plays that have led to his touchdowns. Even the throw to Marshall on the first touchdown was a bad throw and Marshall made a great play. I have always stood by what I have believed on this site. I believed that tha Broncos should give Marshall his money and that McD was acting like a jerk and tearing up a great team by attempting to get rid of him. A lot of “fans” got up her and said that Marshall was not needed, let him go, we are fine without him. I stuck to my guns and I was called a “Marshall fan” not a “Bronco fan”, as you can see he has won the last two games for us with his play. That is a BRONCO win not a MARSHALL win. The “fans” that you speak of often ride the tide rather than speak real football. I have often disagreed with Dynamicdave on stuff, but I think he is a fan and I am too. No one sees the a picture the same way. 5-0 is a great start, I just watch the games and comment on them. if you think Orton is a good QB then by all means feel that way. I disagree, but that does not make ou wrong, nor me right. As a fan I think it is our duty to cheer as loud as we can during the game, and expect our players to be the best they can. That is me, I will take your answer off the air.

  20. joeybudke says:

5-0 feels great but I’m more looking forward to SD this week. I was AT the game last year in SD and watched/listened to all the crap as the Chargers piled it on.

With more to prove let’s get that win! SD is no joke and will come for us. Let’s be ready.

  21. vabroncoguy says:

Broncfalls, didn’t even notice your reply, I will say this (begrudgingly) that was the best I have seen Orton EVER play. But even you know he missed a lot of passes, and in retrospect who doesn’t. I just think that if we had another qb, (from a football perspective) we would be so explosive. Let me ask you this. If the defense had given up say another touchdown, and the game became one where we had to rely on the arm of Orton to get us back, would you have felt comfortable. I know honestly I would not have, and I know honestly a lot of folks out there don’t either. I believe that NOLAN is the key. as long as he keeps the defense playing at the level that they are playing, we wil be ok because we are not really scoring the ball at will. p.s. I am stil not a McD fan yet either. he seems to do silly stuff that has not come back to haunt us yet, but could in the future. the two challenges Sunday, both a waste, could have hurt us. I know detractors will say they didn’t, but they could have. That is what a HC is supposed to do, manage a game so that it does not get away from us. That’s all, we are 5-0

  22. broncofanlvnm says:

Hey everybody: TROLL ALERT!!!!!!! The Orton hater above is obviously a TROLL and not a Denver Bronco fan. He’s just trying to get everyone’s dander up. Just ignore.

  23. #24-PickSixAllDay says:

vabroncoguy i have to agree with you about the fumble challenge he eve knew it was a waste but i feel that the challenge for the 3 yards was well worth it and here is my reason the patriot would have only needed 7 yards for the first which they could have gotten with welker or just picked up a few with sammy morris and getting the field goal…but with mcdaniels challenging it. it made the patriot either pick up the first down or kick a very long field goal but it resulted in a penalty that pushed them back even farther taking them completly out of FG range…if mcd did not challenge who knows what would have been the outcome…but it was a good challenge that helped our team control the game n keep us alive.

RIVERS LOOKING UP AND SEEING 92…PRICELESS

  24. vabroncoguy says:

#24, indeed BUT, the defense had been playing well, the challenge was for 3 yards. AND, winning it left us with NO challenges for the rest of the game. Sometimes you have to lose little to win big. That is just a matter of opinion, some will like it others won’t

  25. vabroncoguy says:

broncofanlvnm how old are you, 12? Name calling woow. That was brave of you. A lot more brave than me stating my opinion and backing it up popular or not. Way more mature than me listening to what others have to say and responding without belittling them. Great move. Real classy. Am I an Orton hater? Hate is strong. Am I an Orton fan? Fan is strong. Am I accepting that he is the QB, yep! Living with it? YEP! Wishing for more, of course. Satisfied, nope. Able to do anything to change it, NOT AT ALL. Able to voice my OPINION, 100%!!!

  28. baylinorcrush says:

I believe the second challenge was the biggest momentum changer in the game (see my 12:25 pm post yesterday on the Mark Cooper blog). You are not a fan of McD and Orton simply because you are a Shanny/Cutler fan, not a Bronco fan, period. Your diatribe only makes it clearer, not quite a troll, who by definition is another team’s fan bashing other teams, but in another way worse, bashing his own team and calling it opinions, whatever… Oh and in the past I have argued plenty with DDave and we strongly disagreed often, thing is he and I accept when we are wrong. You are dead wrong, don’t realize it and keep on trying to rationalize it, we tell you we don’t buy it, to get a life and did I get that right, you’re going to the teacher and scream foul and have my comment taken off the air? Wow… how big of you.

  29. killerkod says:

vabroncoguy…..I respect your opinion, but I think the last two games were left to the arm of Orton and he responded with two late TD’s to totally impact the outcome of the game. And it was his arm on Sunday that drove the O down the field to get in range for the game winning FG. I wasn’t a huge fan of his in the beginning but his play has def. made me a fan as I see how much he’s getting better each week. He hasn’t turned the ball over and sure, the recievers have bailed him out….but that’s what great receivers are supposed to do. I’m not sure what it’s going to take for Orton to get some respect from certain fans. Keep winning ball games I guess. I mean come on, you have to give him some props at least.

  30. brian_schneider says:

Come on guys..seriously. This is a blog where everyone is entitled to their opinion. I’m not taking sides or defending anyone. When someone goes against the grain with a comment everyone is quick to shoot and ask questions later.
Again I’m not defending anyone but vabroncoguy: says isn’t a fan of Orton. So what it doesn’t hurt you or me or anyone, it may hurt some feelings but that’s about it. Let’s just say for the sake of argument that the Broncos are 1-4 or 2-3 how many of you’d be cheering Orton?…..a few I suppose. So at least if vabroncoguy isn’t a fan of Orton we know that he still wouldn’t be a fan if we were 1-4 or 2-3. On the flip side we don’t know how many of you’d be Orton bashing if it started going downhill. I say a lot of negativity towards Orton in the preseason and now he’s playing well and everyone loves him.
I’m just saying lets not be so quick to judge each other just based on our comments. Unless there totally off the wall, which is debatable. Opinions are opinions, facts are facts, some people forget that and get the two mixed up.

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Anyway, I am truly done arguing with this gentleman and I am sorry the discussion has turned so counter productive this morning, I’ll give it a rest for now and be back when the clouds have lifted. Peace to all.

  32. Broncfalls says:

    vabroncoguy,

I see your point. I will say there was one play I didn’t agree with during the game. On 3rd and 5 inches on the New England 4 we ran it. I would’ve like to have seen 1 of 2 things. A QB sneak, or play action. When Orton when under center I thought “Please don’t try to run this..” lol! we did and got stuffed later settling for 3.

With that said, it was one play. Now maybe to your point a play where 3 could have been 7. I will say I was hoping for the 7. Later in the game at 17 to 17, I did think about that play.

All in all, I like the preparation that JMac brings. Obviously I’m not in the meeting rooms so I put this on the numerous statements from players and coaches where “Well prepared” seems to be the rally cry.

As the season rolls along, I believe we are going to see an offense that knows there’s more out there. 5 weeks into a season that started off with so much drama has a locker room believing they can beat anyone. I really do think they are proceeding with caution. That caution is to play at a high level but mistake free. (I’m talking offensively)

Lastly, I would have loved for Kyle Orton to answer my question I submitted during the “Few Mintues With…” segment.

    Here it was:

    Kyle,

Do you feel the fear of making a mistake in an offense that is geared to great decsison making prohibits you from making high risk, high reward plays.

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

  33. brian_schneider says:

Broncfalls: That’s a really good question. I can never think of good really good ones. Which is probably why mine never get answered. LOL

  34. Broncfalls says:

    brian_schneider,

That’s not a fair question lol :) if the broncos were 1-4 or 2-3 it is very possible I’d be upset with Orton if it was due to the QB play. Just as we did with our defense last year. Now look at em’ :) It’s a loaded question! lol

Listen vabroncoguy and I are just having a mature conversation about some things. With that said, my point is we are 5-0 and Orton is playing very, very good. If we were 1-4 or 2-3 and he wasn’t playing good……well then I think we all would be a little upset and rightfully so.

See what’s so interesting about Orton is, he turned us all into believers. Believing that he can lead a drive, win a game and play mistake free. The only question is….how consistent can he be at doing it :) lol

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

p.s. guys I live outside of chicago. chicago sports radio has never been so entertaining! the Cutler vs. Orton saga. H*ll, after Sunday’s game you couldn’t tell if it was Chicago sports radio or Denver sports radio :) lol! Orton lovers coming out of the wood work here in Illinois!

  38. whitebronco#1 says:

vanbronco, reading your posts is waste of time as they are. I’m sure somewhere in your mind you have a relevant fact to support what you say, but until now you haven’t been able to do it. It’s easy to say we don’t have a QB without supporting it with facts (my thought is because there’s no facts, but…). There are different styles of playing the QB position, and trying to help you I’d think that you don’t like the QB style the Broncos are playing with this new system. Is that so? Because that I could understand, but not “I will say this and go, do you know how scary this team would be if they had a QB…they would be legit SB contenders.”

So, you think there are tons of elite QBs waiting for a call and we can just make a call and sign one. “If they had a QB”… like who? I’d really like to know who’s (or what’s) a QB for you (because it’s obvious you think we don’t have one). Maybe if I know this, I could get some sense from your QB statements. And obviously you should have a list of 20 – 30 disposable, “real”, and intelligent enough QBs to get a full new play system in less than 1 season, right? Because finding one should be as easy as find a cheap ticket for a local Raiders game this season… or more.

We are now more “contenders” that we ever were with Cutler. So, I don’t know you, but for me, it’s a step ahead in the right direction.

In other stuff, everyone, take a look at this…

    whitebronco#1,

Thanks for the article! good reading!

I agree with you, I think this is a bigger game than New England in some sorts. It’s a divisional game and you put Denver at 6-0 with 2 games against KC, 1 against Oakland and San Diego at home….THIS IS HUGE!

This is where I love JMac! HE WON’T LET BEING UNDER PREPARED BE AN EXCUSE.

San Diego….unfortuantely our boys are locked and loaded!

Rivers, Rivers, Rivers…….he! he! You’re riegn in the AFC West is officialy over! Orton and the crew will take their seat at the table for good….That’s right I said Orton!

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

Hey UUb. I see your comments. lol chill before they snitch on you. I like this mornings comments. All valid points. Orton out dueled Brady? Yes he did, but lets remember it too Peyton 7 games to get back to his self. He only missed Training camp and preseason. Brady missed a whole yr. So don’t read to much in that. We need to get better. In all phases to keep this going all yr.

i too am looking forward to this monday night game for many reasons. 1. because this is a divisional game and to win and be 3 1/2 games over the other team in this division is a very promising sign. 2. after seeing how we played against new england 7th ranked defense cant wait to see our offense play against san diegos 26th ranked defense. and 3. to see number 92 laying out rivers all day….god i hate rivers more than any QB in the league

RIVERS LOOKING UP AND SEEING 92…PRICELESS

I like many Bronco faithful fans was a little weary about Orton this year. I was already screaming start the rookie Brandstater after the horrible preseason. But thats exactly what it was, preseason. I think that the hangover of the Cutler trade and the preseason games really rubbed people the wrong way with Orton taking the driver seat of this team this year. None of us were expecting this at all (5-0). But now that were here unexpected i think we should finally have a little faith in KO. I mean the guy is just getting it done for us and thats all we ask. Let Marshall,Royal,Buck,Moerno,Stokley,Gaffney, etc> these guys are Beasts’, let them put up the Sexy numbers and KO just stick to managing a game right? You could have fooled me this past sunday backed up on the 2yd line with 5:13 remaining and KO put together a DRIVE, not “THE DRIVE”, a DRIVE that put us in postion to win the game. Thats all were asking him to do, let our D take care of the rest.
Look to all the KO doubters out there all im saying is i was there too but im begining to believe in this guy and i think you should too.

All season long we are going to hear it from the media that were the luckiest team in the league, so be it. I’ll ride this luck wave every week, but please lets put it to SD on monday night and show everyone in the world that we belong here and were here to stay. BRING IT!!!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!

    WILD HORSES 4 EVER!!!! lol

    vabroncoguy…..
i know you are catching lots of crap for your opinion on orton… im still not sure if you are here to create dissent among fans or to actually be a part of the convo going on but i will say this…. does orton miss some throws? ABSOLUTELY!! but you know what? in that same game i watched tom brady, one of the nfl’s elite / golden boy QB’s miss at least 2 throws that if he completes go for touchdowns! and ive see every, I MEAN EVERY
QB in this league miss throws. so yes it would be nice if he didnt ever miss a single throw but he too is only human and therefore entitled to mistakes. he is winning for us, and in last weeks game i watched him pull off 3 drives at the end of the game (including the OT drive) to win for us. there were no 45 yd lazers, but he was accurate and got the ball to the open recievers. as for the throw to marshall that you thought was poorly thrown, keep this in mind…. if he throws that ball to BM’s outside shoulder that ball gets caught out of bounds and we are looking at what… 3rd down, 4th down? anyway, i thought it was a good throw, caught the defender while he wasnt looking. good job ko!
    my 2 cents…
    Go Broncos
    “DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS”

@baylin- you obviously don’t listen to sports radio, when you say “i’ll take your comment off the air” it means, i will await your response while listening and not talking. You may want to calm down on your aggression a bit. You clearly have never heard me say anything about Shanny so how am I a fan of his? I am a Cutler fan because I like football, but again, I have never said that I want Cutler back either. I think the key is that I have been giving my opinion on what I think is wrong AND right with the Broncos from a football perspective. Being that it is an opinion, there is no right or wrong. Some people think oranges taste better than apples. Just a point of contention. My “diatribe” must strike a nerve with you, which in my experience always says there is a ring of truth. Not to mention the fact that you consistently miss when I talk about the strengths of the team. Enjoy your day.

  46. vabroncoguy says:

@killerkod hmmm…maybe. He does make quick decisions, he just doesn’t make great qb plays. I will ask you this. Taking being a fan out of the equation. Go through the NFL team-by-team and tll me how many teams in your opinion have a better qb. I will leave out the Bears because that will cause a HUGE problem.

  47. killerkod says:

vabroncoguy……actually I don’t think there are a lot of teams with a better QB right now. I think there are many more teams screaming for a good QB then ones that have one. Not every team can have a manning, brady, or Brees. And even then, a great QB alone doesn’t win you football games. It takes a total team effort and that’s the thing I love about the Broncos so far this year. Everyone is contributing to getting it done.

  48. vabroncoguy says:

@whitebronco, let’s see how well you know football and talent. I say if we had a qb, be cause we don’t have a qb at a level that allows even mcDaniels to do all the things that he would like to do. I have watched every game more than one time. From a football perspective, Orton’s “skill set” make it much more difficult for a lot of plays to be run. For example, if you watched Royal last year, one of the routes he was extremely successful on, is the “out” to the far sideline. That is a route than can benefit you greatly as it usually generates a one-on-one to the outside and if he makes a man miss he is able to go. The problem is the “out” route requires a quarterback with the ability to throw across the field with accuracy and velocity. KO does not have that, thus one of Royal’s biggest weapons is gone. Also, one of the reasons our running game was able to be sustained last year, was because of the fact that our qb was always a threat with the ball in his hands. Safties and Corners often had to play off the line, safties deep in particular, because they were afraid of passes going over there heads. If you notice this year, the safeties play up much more often, limiting some of our running gains, which could be bigger. Orton, while putting up high numbers, is outting up a low yards per attempt, which means he is not moving the ball upfield. Those are facts I use those to support my dislike for Orton. Do I hate him, no. BUT, I do think that some people are really not honest in how they feel about him. It is again my opinion, that you are more of a “fairweather fan” if you keep flip flopping. Like people did with BMarsh. People DOGGED him and now they feel as though he is great. I give my opinion and stay with it until I have been proven wrong. One good game does not me an Orton fan make. Love me or hate me, I am what I am

  49. vabroncoguy says:

@killer that doesn’t answer my question though. I do think that this team is a good mixture, but I think honestly our succss is predicated on the defensive turnaround more than anything. I think KO is just a side product. Answer me this for just gp. If we had this type of D last year, what do you think our record would be at this point? I make statements because I look at the total picture. Call me less of a fan if you wish (not you just generally) but I still pay to watch every game on Directv and I still fly out to Denver for games, and go to as many on the east as I can. I wear my Bronco head and my jersey in the midst of NFC east country proudly and represent the team on the side of my car. I want them to be dominate EVERY year, not flash in the pan. When the Ravens won the Super Bowl, they had an achilles heel, and people said they would be great if they had a qb. They didn’t and they fell tremendously after the SB win. Make no mistake, though there may be an occassional anamole, the NFL is a qb driven league and I want us to have the best that we can have. Ciao
