I'd have to agree a conservative coach is effective when you are in the regular season, already eyeing the playoffs. Even if they are number one seed in the playoffs and have a 14 point lead going into the fourth quarter. But not when your season is about to be over or you are tied going into the fourth quarter. That is when you put the ball in the hands of someone who can get you there. I think this is the thing that has eaten at me the most the game was coming down to the wire and we still were waiting for someone to make a play. Instead of having a play drawn up for this situation like a play action with a screen to Hillman for a first down. I quess we can sit back hear and say we should of done this and should have done that. I know are guys worked hard to get there and now realize they will need to take it to another level when in the playoffs....including coaches.

I like Green with the ball in his hands. I know he is considered a blocking TE but he seems to do good when he has the ball.

Let's hope so RH. The only thing that could defend those two kneel downs, is if Peyton just wasn't feeling up to it given the cold and wind, which of course, no one would ever admit to even if true. I see ZERO defense for running a 190 lbs rookie up the gut over and over again... Smh.....

Gae promotiion perfect. Minimal change, but still a new outlook on the way the offensive plays are called.
Think out TEs weren't a major part of our offense? TEs caught 98 passes in 2012. Tammie had 52, Dressen 41, Green 5.

Agreed OT. They have to appear to be on the same side. I just hope that behind a door somewhere Elway is explaining to Fox that you have to coach to win not coach not-to-lose. That means, go for it on 4th in positive territory and rely on the guy you pay 20 million a year to move the ball 60-65 yards in 30 seconds with two timeouts.

Elway had no choice but to publicly support Fox. He brought Fox in here for stability, given how many coaching changes we had, not to mention Allen and McCoy. There was nothing Fox could do that would've gotten him fired IMO, and I agree with that. The rule of thumb for crisis management is to not overreact, and Elway did a nice job of stabilizing the situation, and not make matters worse, by second guessing what had already happened and onderminding Fox. The Gase hire was another good decision, and it would have been overreaching to go out and get a Moore or Whisenhunt IMO.

JE's public support of Fox doesn't mean he didn't rip Fox when the door was shut. I love both these guys. Fox is an amazing coach but he downfall is his conservatism.

Indeed Schneider. Hc are big picture guys. Coordinators just need to focus on their phase of the game. Some guys are great managers some are exceptional employees with all the experience but a fish out of water when it comes to Hc (manager). I approve of gase as well. He really has worked his way up . I believe he was we coach before he became QB coach and he did a stellar job in both areas. He has earned his shot and will learn with the training wheels called manning.
How about JE throwing his support behind fox for conservative forth quarter kneel. jE knows darn well as an elite QB who was equally as fantastic in the fourth quarter .... He woulda wanted the chance to put the game away. That's why u pay em the big bucks.

I’m a fan of the “little guys” finally getting their shot. It’s nice to see Denver’s coaching assistants and coordinators move up the food chain. Sometimes I feel that they get a little too anxious to become a HC. What I don’t want to see is every year we’re looking for a new coordinator. I don’t expect them to stay in the same position for years, but I’d like to see some continuity. We haven’t had the same coaching staff for longer than one season. I do feel that Fox and Elway will always put together a good coaching staff, but if all we do is become a HC farmer we lose so much of that continuity. If there’s one thing we’ve seen from the past just because you’re a good assistant or coordinator doesn’t mean you’ll make a good HC. Sometimes it takes failure to know your place, but sometimes you just need to look in the mirror and know what you’re truly good out. I’m not saying they can’t succeed or be good, but in a sense, we’re always going to need “someone flipping burgers” or “picking up the garbage” so sometimes it just makes sense to stay in a lower position for a while.

Anyway I’m sure Elway and Fox will do a great job of continuing to build continuity, like with the Gase promotion.
