Clady Ready to Play

September 9th, 2010 - 1:09pm by Gray Caldwell

Between the first injury report of the season and Head Coach Josh McDaniels’ press conference Thursday, one thing is clear — Ryan Clady will see the field in Week 1.

“Clady will definitely play — no question,” McDaniels said. “He’s not even on the injury report. He’s ready to go.”

After missing training camp and the majority of the preseason, the third-year offensive lineman spent his days off over the Labor Day weekend running and working on his fitness to try to get back up to speed as soon as possible.

“I don’t think you can simulate game conditioning unless you’re in games,” McDaniels said. “That’s why we played him in Minnesota, that’s why we practiced hard the last couple of days in pads and he’s been in there a ton. We’re trying to catch him up as quickly as we can.”

The head coach said the team has no qualms about giving the tackle some rest throughout the game if he needs it, so that he can “play to his level of play and try to do it for as long as he can.”

But whether Clady is at 100 percent or not, Kyle Orton is comfortable leaving his blind side protected by the 2009 Pro Bowler.

“Guys that are on the field — I have confidence in them,” Orton said. “If they’re ready to play, then I certainly have confidence in them. He’s one of our best players and I’m not sitting back there thinking anything is coming off my left side when he’s in the game.”

As for Clady’s counterpart on the right side of the line, Ryan Harris did not practice Wednesday and McDaniels said he didn’t expect him to take the field Thursday, either. But he didn’t count out the veteran from Sunday’s season-opener.

“Ryan is getting better every day,” McDaniels said of Harris. “We’re going to give it all week and see what happens.”

INJURY REPORT

The Thursday injury report has been released. Darcel McBath (forearm) and Harris (ankle) did not practice for the second consecutive day. Demaryius Thomas (foot), Andre Brown (toe), Daniel Graham (chest) and Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) are listed on the injury report, but all four had full participation on Wednesday and Thursday.

For the Jaguars, kick returner Scotty McGee (shoulder) did not particpate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Running back Deji Karim (thumb) had limited participation on Wednesday and Thursday, and wide receiver Jarett Dillard (foot) joined the injury report Thursday, with limited participation.

Thank you florio I was starting to think I must be all alone with those thoughts hence crazy once again, haha.

  2. florio's_mom says:

DMT and Crabtree were completely different players coming outta college.

  3. baylinorcrush says:

Marshisboss, unfair comparaison, Crabtree was basically as NFL ready as anyone can be having been at pass happy Texas Tech, and he was a top ten pick.

Florio, scary, we think too much alike, had no idea you were about to post that.

  5. florio's_mom says:

Don’t get me wrong. I think DMT CAN contribute this year. But it really depends on how much and when.

And I don’t believe as much as Deck, and not til November.

    But thats me. :/

I personally can’t wait to see Thomas but I’m always on the wait till there healthy bandwagon first. I don’t think we need him for this first game, second as well, but if he’s healthy I think seattle would be a good game for him to show what he’s got. in my mind thats a game we should win so its safe to experiment with what he can do to help us.

When do we leave, then we can see if he went with.

    Okay That WAS WEIRD! LOL

I also mentioned that Decker and Willis should be suited up over Thomas as of right now. Thomas needs to be healthy and get more reps in practice before he is ready to play a live NFL game.

    Point take re: Thomas.

I think I’m just getting perturbed with all these analysts/sportswriters who already writing us off before the season begins. Should be used to it.
I understand we’re a little bit younger at some positions, and have a few question marks re: pass rush, stopping the run, running the ball, etc. I’ll just tune those guys out and root hard for our Broncos on Sunday!

I hear ya on the whole fairness thing and u are probably right. You clearly know McD more than i do (seeing as how i dont even really like the guy anyway lol) because ive been wrong about so many personnel stuff. What u say makes sense and is beneficial, but I just figure if McD thinks he is ready ENOUGH he will let him take to the field but then again like u say that may be because 6wrs are activated. But I have a feeling that back ups on defense and oline will take too much spots for us to have all 6 wrs activated. We will find out soon enough. Just wanted to say I hear where u are coming from. TRB out…

Thanks to both you guys, much appreciated. I may not always point to the rosy stuff, probably not hardly often enough, but I am as hardcore as they come come game time, you can count on me rooting hard until the last minute come Sunday, and I’ll be in a spots bar of mainly Cowboy and Texan fans, it gets a bit hairy at times since I get pretty loud, but I always make it out alive and keep it just civil enough not to get kicked out, LOL.

I hear you royalbroncfan1, I can’t stand all the hater analysts. It really gets at my competitive side. But unfortunately my competetiveness means nothing. They all were picking us to only win 3 or 4 games last season also. I can’t figure it out. I know that we have lost some talented players but feel our team is actually stronger. I sure hope our team shows up and shuts the critics up again. I’ve found that they are about as good at predicting as any regular joe. Hope we start off on the right foot and kick some jaguar butt.

On the surface this looks like a tough matchup Sun… Team that runs the ball well and defends the short pass well…but im feelin like that where gonna come out on fire this week…..for some reason I think where gonna play the run well this yr….just hope it dosent mean where gonna regress on pass coverage. I agree Big D Dont see us only winning 3 or 4 this yr buuut im not drinking the playoff kool-aid this yr…drank it last yr after the cowboy game…and got my feelins hurt lol so untill i see that X by our name in the standings im just takin it game by game this yr…..I think where much deeper and better at wideout then last yr im happy with QB play….(Yes I like #8) RB scares me knowshon and buck are ok but after………
my biggest concern is OL run blockin and DL…..thats where championships are won..what does everyone think???

  15. gardenstatebroncofan says:

    oh and by the way………

    GO 2010-11 BRONCOS!!!!!!!!

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, you are right, we do have a game January 2nd 2011, haha.

  17. broncolorado says:

Andre Brown could end up being our best running back. He is pretty good and bigger than the others.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

Brown has a shot at it, but he is not all that much bigger, 6′ 224, Bucky almost identical at 6′ 223, Ball at 220 but on a 5′ 9″ frame, hence lower to the ground and bulkier and Moreno is the lightest at 210 on a 5’11″ frame. I still am looking to LenDale to come back next year, with his 6’1″ 235 frame he is the one who can best fit our power back need long term.

  19. monodono says:

    Thanks for the post Gray!

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !
