Between the first injury report of the season and Head Coach Josh McDaniels’ press conference Thursday, one thing is clear — Ryan Clady will see the field in Week 1.
“Clady will definitely play — no question,” McDaniels said. “He’s not even on the injury report. He’s ready to go.”
After missing training camp and the majority of the preseason, the third-year offensive lineman spent his days off over the Labor Day weekend running and working on his fitness to try to get back up to speed as soon as possible.
“I don’t think you can simulate game conditioning unless you’re in games,” McDaniels said. “That’s why we played him in Minnesota, that’s why we practiced hard the last couple of days in pads and he’s been in there a ton. We’re trying to catch him up as quickly as we can.”
The head coach said the team has no qualms about giving the tackle some rest throughout the game if he needs it, so that he can “play to his level of play and try to do it for as long as he can.”
But whether Clady is at 100 percent or not, Kyle Orton is comfortable leaving his blind side protected by the 2009 Pro Bowler.
“Guys that are on the field — I have confidence in them,” Orton said. “If they’re ready to play, then I certainly have confidence in them. He’s one of our best players and I’m not sitting back there thinking anything is coming off my left side when he’s in the game.”
As for Clady’s counterpart on the right side of the line, Ryan Harris did not practice Wednesday and McDaniels said he didn’t expect him to take the field Thursday, either. But he didn’t count out the veteran from Sunday’s season-opener.
“Ryan is getting better every day,” McDaniels said of Harris. “We’re going to give it all week and see what happens.”
The Thursday injury report has been released. Darcel McBath (forearm) and Harris (ankle) did not practice for the second consecutive day. Demaryius Thomas (foot), Andre Brown (toe), Daniel Graham (chest) and Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) are listed on the injury report, but all four had full participation on Wednesday and Thursday.
For the Jaguars, kick returner Scotty McGee (shoulder) did not particpate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Running back Deji Karim (thumb) had limited participation on Wednesday and Thursday, and wide receiver Jarett Dillard (foot) joined the injury report Thursday, with limited participation.

man i hope he really is 100%. we could really use some good news on the injury front.
Go Broncos
THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES
my guess is that harris wont dress on sunday. but its great to hear that clady is good to go.
i really hope that moreno is at full speed and ready, he seems like he really wants to let it all out this year and show the NFL what he’s all about. i really hope that d. thomas is ready to go as well, he is such a big deep threat that can really change the dynamic of the game.
ya, harris wont play. moreno may get a few touches but i would bet not more than 10 or 15 if any. and i dont know how much we will see out of thomas either! hopefuly he gets some action but he has missed so much time that i think it will be hard for him to get on the field much. but we will see, and frankly i couldnt be happier. regular season is finally here!
Go Broncos
THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES
just win denver we can’t start behind of sd.
Clady won’t be his old self just yet. It might take a week or 2. It’s tough to come off a knee injury especially at OL. Remember he played in the Minnesota game and didn’t look as sharp as he usually would. I hope he proves me wrong though.
Man I hope Clady is 100%,that is EXCELLENT NEWS to me,but I hope he is really 100% and dosen’t get hurt, his prescence alone makes our Oline 200% better!!!!!
Get well fast Harris we need you too big guy !!!!
NFL opening Kick Off in less than two hours, that’s all I need to say about that! Guess what I’m doing tonight, LOL.
It’s good Clady’s back, but give him lots of rest. He’s not going to be 100% at least not the whole game and Beadles can play tackle pretty well. Those other guys need to get better soon, hopefully play on sunday. Thomas is going to be exciting to see, Graham is a good veteran and captain, and Moreno is our best back. Hopefully Harris can get back by next week.
Baylinocrush and a BREWSKY. Football and a Cold One. Beer Thirty. I`m there also. For Those About To Rock!!!!
The word is Moreno is being tenative in practice. Sit him out. Hamstrings take along time to heal, especially tears. Let the games begin.
We need good news on the injury front like a diabetic needs insulin!
Get Healthy/Stay Healthy, BRONCOS 2K10!!!!!!!!!!
Ohh, possibilities are exciting! OC, is it not just as possible Orton throws for 4200+ and 30 TDs, on his way to NFL MVP?
I wonder when Woodyard will get his chance to start…
I am proud in announcing a New Bronco Fan to the country!!! My Grandson at 8 lbs 5 oz and 22 inches was born today at 1:30 am! Yes I could not believe it myself with his father being an Eagles fan. But when he came into this world and they pricked his finger it was blue and orange! I want to thank—my entire fellow Broncomanics Like,Baylin, BFE92, OC, whitebronco#1, Broncfalls, 07, Florios mom, and all my long time Bronco family here. You think its fun posting first? I got his Denver Broncos new born uniform on him before the “in-laws” family knew what was happing! It was the first thing he wore!! We raise Bronco Fans in the FTR family. Always been that way. I kissed his head and whispered in his ear Go Broncos and never ever forget to FTR —Haa. He said in his bubbling way Papa the jag’s are going down!! I knew then we will win. I know you guys are like man FTR has sleep deprivation. Your right. Because—
I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!!
1-0 Baby

That’s awesome FTR- Congratulations!!
Congrats FTR.
The 1st Bronco game I got to watch with my son, was a winner, (Pitt preseason)! Keep the trend going. And as always F.T.R. Which reminds me, I’m taking my brother to his first Bronco game against that hated team this season!
Thanks to all. Back to Football!

Is it a home game I hope. He should love it. Good people all around at Mile High. The old hatred comes from many years for me. But there is always a little more ohh rah in the stands no matter where you sit! When the fadiers come to Denver! I know I have been on the season ticket waiting list for 10 years! LOL. I like getting Mr B’s letters every year. Tradition and dedication is something we all should all be proud of in this old cow town!
FTR
See you all in the morning.
Hey all in Denver Good nite!!!! Out here in California I am just getting to Bed. I watched NFL opening Kickoff and it was great to have football on but the real season doesn’t start till the boys in orange and Blue hit the field. And niether team looked particularly impresive either. Not for a defendding super bowl champion anyway.
Anyhow Go BRONCOS!!! Can’t wait till game time. I live in oakland so Braging rites are very important to me I have lived in the Bay for three years now and the Raiders have sucked ever since I got here. I have been in northern California for ten years and it has Been great. I have a huge Bronco decal on the back of my truck and the window hasn’t been smashed yet. raider fans suck though.
Go Broncos.
LOL @ FTR… huge congrats to you man. Great to have another Bronco fan in the house. Nice job on getting that Bronco uniform on him faster than one can blink. You gave me a pretty good laugh. My best wishes to you and your family on the new addition.
And I’m with you all the way… we’ll be 1-0 come Sunday, with gusto. lol
Keep the faith Bronco Country…
GO BRONCOS in 2010!!!!
WOW! congrats FTR….. great weeknd to start off the season….
GO BRONCOS! lets make it happen!!
Congrats FTR the Broncos Family just keeps getting bigger. Sunday the Jags won’t know what hit em
Congratulations grandpa FTR, so it seems as your daughter is the mother of this newborn, and the dad is just an in-law since he didn’t get your proper Bronco upbringing being an Eagle fan and all, oh well maybe eventually his son will convert him, there is always hope for the misguided, haha.
Excellent news for all of us Bronco fans this morning about Bailey as reported by Klis:
The Broncos and Champ Bailey are deep into negotiations that would extend the perennial Pro Bowl cornerback’s contract an additional four years.
Sndvl, looks like I was right when I refused to start a sign Bailey long term campaign since I was never really worried about it. It seems as all good men get paid eventually in this regime and all men of questionable make up get to hit the road.
About the QB’s for Sunday, this is what McD said yesterday:
“I don’t have any plans to activate three.”
Great on two levels as far as I see it, Tebow will play some, Quinn will hold a clipboard, haha. Del Rio is himself expecting some plays from Tebow but he says he didn’t hear it from McD.
I’m willing to say that it will be probably the QB set up for every game, only Orton and Tebow activated with Quinn holding the clipboard, and if either Orton or Tebow goes down in one game and he is out for the next Quinn is activated. And that is exactly why I said all along Quinn must go, it is a mistake for me to keep a guy to hold a clipboard when we have so many other pressing needs, a wasted roster spot is what Quinn is. Because if McD does what I just said I think he will with his QB’s, the week that we would need a third QB if one goes down and we just kept two, we could easily get a non employed veteran as there are always some available and we wouldn’t be any worse off than dreading seeing Quinn come in to save the day, fruitless, only my opinion and I stick by it. Quinn should of gone.
I’m so excited for sunday, this should be a huge look at what we can expect from the other 15 games we play. the Jags are a great match-up for the first game! I think Orton looks like a BEAST in this game lol
And just for all you guys who can’t wait to see Thomas on the field Sunday, you may have to wait a little longer, this is what Lindsay says about it:
There is no guarantee Thomas will make his debut Sunday against Jacksonville.
The Broncos have six receivers on their 53-man roster, but history shows at least one — and maybe two — will not be included on the 45-man game day roster. The Broncos played with four receivers in eight games last year, and with five in the other eight games.
This means the Broncos coaching staff will have an interesting decision to make when deciding which players will play and which will be inactive.
Since you certainly can’t make any of the other 5 WR’s inactive over Thomas, the only way Thomas gets in is if we activate all six, and that’s a long shot looking at last year, but it’s possible, haha.
Congrats FTR! That is really cool!
We will win Sunday. I can feel it in me bones.
CONGRATS FTR..My Bronco Bro,glad to have another Broncomaniac in this world, and I know she will grow up to hate the Raiders.haha
Baylin, thanks for the info on Champ,I know he is still the best CB in the league, best descision McD has made yet…YEAH!!!!!! GO CHAMP!!!!!!!
Can’t wait till Sunday..GO BRONCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did anyone notice the offensive blocking by the Saints against the 4-3 of the Vikings. It sure reminded me of the Alex Gibbs zone blocking schemes with the running back cutting back. Maybe McDaniels should retain such blocking schemes and cut backs for 4-3 teams. It looked pretty effective against an aggressive Vikings team. I’m wondering if last year McDaniels didn’t know how to use the zone blocking with a running back cutting back. perhaps that’s why it failed. I don’t think zone blocking and misdirection works as well against a 3-4 defense and so maybe for those defenses you use a power blocking scheme. All I know is that New England never really cared about running the ball (and it showed) and it sounds like McDaniels wants the running game to work. I don’t think the New England formula as far as running offense will work here. He needs to think outside the Patriots’ box.
Hey a new Bronco fan! Congratulations FTR.Did you guys see the interview with my favorite all time Bronco?#7 gives us reason to be upbeat about this team.Me? Broncos on the money line.GO BRONCOS!!
Bay, 1st round pick he will play if McD feels he is up to speed ENOUGH. plus he needs the ingame experience more. Its just like Last year with Moreno. McD had to use Moreno for EVERY runnign situation even the ones he wasn’t best suited for. So I think Bay Bay still plays this sunday. He will be the 4 recievers behind, Lloyd, royal, gaffney. And technically on the depth chart he is behind brandon lloyd so he is technically number 4. Plus last year we took 4 in cuz they were all veterans, this year we are prolly gonna take 5 or more to compensate for what we lost in the veterans Marshall and stokely. young guys are too temperamental. IMO
ps: congrats on the new grandchild FTR.
Appreciate ycur concern bay for us fans re: D. Thomas but, speaking for myself, I read the DP every morning before accessing this website.
I can see you can hardly wait for his debut based on the way you worded your post….lol
Thats a tough call TRB. Willis and Decker both looked pretty darn good in preseason. I think it would be a gamble. Like what I hear about Bay Bay though. Guess we all have to go with what McD chooses.
BIG CONGRATS FTR. THAT IS AWESOME. I have a 2 year old boy who is my broncos buddy. Hope he plays for he broncos some day. He has been off the charts for every size measurement since he was 2 months old. As of now he is 3′ 6″ tall and 54 pounds at 2 years and 5 months. Doc said he should be between 6′ 5″ and 6′ 8″and we have some pretty good athletic genes in the family. A guy can dream right. LOL But in reality as long as he grows up to be a good and happy man, then I’m happy.
My son Luke and I LOVE US SOME DENVER BRONCOS…..
If Thomas is activated, he will be called on to run a few routes… that’s it.. a small contribution to a TEAM effort for a potential win.
Nothing wrong with any of us gettin excited for Thomas debut. Obviously not all do and nothing wrong with that either… what ever float your boat man…
meant….”what ever floats your boat”…. lol
Thats awesome news on Champ!!!!!!!
As for the game, FTR, yes it is the game at Mile High. Weve gone to games against- Indy, Cleveland, New England, and a couple of others. When we were discussing a game for this season- He mentioned the Indy game or the game against the Jets. I asked if hes ever seen one against our archrivals! No was his answer. So it has been chosen. OCT 24th.
And we will take back control of our house on this day…(no half-pints making half-tackles leading to go ahead TD’s).

FTR, congrats to you and all of your family. What a blessing. Life is grand Bronco Bro.
WOW FLORIO!!! thats a pretty specific prediction. i like it! but i will be sad if the jags get 200 plus on the ground against us! not necessarily surprised just sad.
@ FTR… grats man! another fan is born.
…. so … i was watching the game last night and i have to say.. offensively i think we can do ALL the things that NO did. in fact for me it was a bit of deja vu. looked very similar to our offense in the preseason… lots of passing, spreading it around, and not a whole lot of ground game! man i tell ya what, if we could get the ground game on track i believe our Offense would be scary this season! hopefully Kno gets healthy soon and our backfield can tear it up! hopefuly
Go Broncos
THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES
History shows MJD running all over us, unfortunately. LOL
ya i know. but MAN i wanna see a change! seems like everytime someone has broken a rushing record in the last 8 or 10 years its been against us. not a good thing! lol maybe just a little bit of run D? thats all i want for christmas!

THE BATTLE IS WON IN THE TRENCHES
Everyone feels however he wants about Thomas playing right now, personally I see no upside whatsover having a guy play who had less than one week of practice all off season, I much rather see the guys who have worked their tails off all off season to have a chance to do their stuff this Sunday, they have earned it, Thomas still has a way to go to earn it, if he is activated because we activate all 6 WR’s it’s all good, if he takes the spot of any of the other 5 , I don’t see the fairness in that, just my take on it, and I’m dead serious about it, even so I understand he is our #1 pick so everyone wants to see him, I can wait. I like fairness in things, old school I guess, pay your dues to earn your spot.
I agree Bay.
Thats why I didn’t even put him on the stat sheet.
Crabtree didn’t have any training camp and missed the first couple weeks of the season and still made a solid contribution it can be done but i still think we should wait and let Thomas fully heal
