Clady Named Second-Team All-Pro

January 9th, 2009 - 12:00pm by Gray Caldwell

The Associated Press released its 2008 NFL All-Pro team on Friday, and Ryan Clady made the cut.

Clady is the first tackle listed on the second team offense.

The rookie had an impressive debut season as a professional — he didn’t allow a full sack in 16 starts at left tackle, part of an offensive line that set a Broncos franchise record by allowing only 12 sacks all year.

He was named Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week in Week 14.

named 2nd team all pro, but not the probowl, which completely sucks but it is good to see Denver representation on the All Pro Team

  2. Grantw8 says:

    Congrats Ryan!

I don’t know if it is possible to have a better season than that. Keep it up!!

  3. broncopatti says:

Absolutely Awesome!!! Congratulations, Ryan - we are all proud of you and you should also be very proud of your debut year accomplishments!

  4. goatmaster says:

he deserved it as much or more than anyone else

  5. 66forHOF says:

This is bull, Clady is the best Tackle I’ve seen since Zimmerman, he should be a starter in the Probowl, a First-Team All-Pro, and the R.O.Y.

  6. 66forHOF says:

I was so busy being out raged I forgot to congratulate Clady. Congrats big guy we hope to see more of the same in comming years, couldn’t have asked for more from you this season.

  7. Black Horse says:

Good job Clady, you’re a monster for sure. Perhaps you could get the ball on forth and one. I got this sick vision of seeing you do what REFRIGERATOR PERRY did in the Superbowl. Just throwing it out there! GO BRONCOS!

  8. BroncoSEK says:

Congrats Ryan, solid rookie performance couldnt ask anymore of you. All i can say now is keep improving and lets win a Championship

  9. 07elway says:

Ooh, I’m liking this good news stuff. Keep it coming would ya!!

This is awesome. I am so happy for this guy… he’s awesome at what he does. BIG congrats to Clady - beyond well deserved. Like most everyone else, he definitely should’ve made the Pro Bowl but hey, at least he getting some recognition somewhere. Its better than nothing at all!

Can’t wait to see what this guy does for us next season.
Clady you are a BEAST!!! Keep on working hard & you will definitely without a shadow of a doubt make the Pro Bowl in future years. You were incredible this season, couldn’t have asked for a better tackle than #78.

    With faith…
    GO BRONCOS in ‘09!!!!

…..soes I get to work this morning and i am annoyed! its -7 with the wind chill up here in idaho, and i left my thermos at home. I stumble up the steps into the office and relieze i left my tool box keys at home wich is 45 mins away.
i then proceed to check my email, and what do find ….sunshine baby…..thats right! finding out that our boy clady was voted on to the all pro team just made this mandatory friday all the better.
we all here in Idaho are proud of your Rookie year my ninja, and everyone out there knows it should be first team and pro bowl…

  11. denver270 says:

RYAN IS THE BEST TACKLE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! THIS IS THE BEST 1ST. RD PICK WE EVER HAD IN MY BOOK!! GREAT JOB!!! ENJOY YOUR PRO-BOWL!!

  12. vlotho12 says:

Im agreeing with denver270… the guy is a beast… rookie tackles don’t just come out and perform like this.. Joe thomas was the big talk out of wisconsin last year, but who cares.. he was embarrassed on monday night football.. Clady should be on the 1st team in the pro bowl

  13. broncomike83 says:

Congrats the Beast Clady! He will keep cutler protected for years to come, now let’s just find a healthy rb that wants to run behind that beast!!! Go broncs 09!!

  14. 15themarshall15 says:

both our tackles should be first team this is bogus i mean good job you did excellent i think you deserve better clady and harris needs some respect. i cant think of a better tackle then either one of em. clady dominates the best pass rushers in the league. NO ONE IS BETTER

  15. louisianabroncofan says:

No one is better is RIGHT ON. this guy is a one of a kind gem of a player. thank god we have such an important position locked up for a good 10-15 years. and yes harris is one hell of a tackle too. its a wonderful thing, this offensive line. I honestly dont know who’s all that much better than clady. Jason Peterson is impressive for the Bills but Clady will be 1st team All-Pro for years to come. Orlando pace move over theres a new top left tackle in the league!

  16. imready says:

Glad to see R. Clady get some recognition for his outstanding play. He deserve pro bowl and first team , after all , who played better at his position? The guy drafted him should get an award.

  17. BucknBronco says:

Irreplaceable, PERIOD. Way to go Mr. Clady. We’re VERY proud of what our tackles provide to our offense.

    Go Broncos!!!

  18. broncofannsd says:

66forHOF - I couldn’t agree more. Clady definitely deserves to be a starter in the Pro Bowl and a First-Team All-Pro. I think it’s bogus that the O-Line didn’t get the recognition they deserved.

Congrats Mr. Clady! You are without a doubt a diamond in the rough. Keep up the great work and we look forward to seeing you in 2009.

And I know some of you have said this, but I really want to see Denver go back to using the Orange Jerseys at home. I think the change in uniforms in 97 was a great move. Making the change now, especially with a new coach being brought in, might prove to be a very good change. Some of the players like Cutler have made similar comments as well.

  19. 15themarshall15 says:

agreed orange jerseys but use blues at least once or twice a year love both though just like orange crush defense which we need again jersey color is a start we will build from there lol

  20. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

I love my replica orange Champ Bailey jersey I got for Christmas. Make the blues the alternates, that’s one step toward greatness the Broncos can make right away. In any case, I was listening to Mike on WFAN out of New York the other day (I miss the mad dog…) and he said it’s really hard to quantify whether or not offensive linemen are worthy of the Hall of Fame. If Clady continues in his course, there will be no questions about him. He will be the greatest #78 of all time, along with Jackie Slater!

  21. monodono says:

    AWESOME ! ! !

Good Job Ryan, I just wish wiegmann and Harris were with ya.

  22. My Blood Is Orange says:

thats some good news we are gonna get more and more of our team to rep the NFL as the Best and All-Pros in the years that follow this soon to be Franchise

  23. caretaker30 says:

Congrates Ryan, this rookie class was amazing Ryan, Eddie Royal whos the second reciver and is 7th in league in receptions amzing, then we got Ryan Torain and Peyton HIllis who if they stay Healty are amazing, Ryan one of best first rounder of all time, but lets not forget John Elway Denver 270, this was one of the greatest drafts ever

  24. bronc fan in WA says:

Ryan did great this year. A few more solid seasons like this one and then he’s going to start building up his repuation for H.O.F.

  25. 15themarshall15 says:

just so you guys all know the hall of fame is rare to say a rookie will be there no matter how good he is foolish. ryan your the best tackle in the league but ask terrell davis and steve atwalter its one difficult thing to accomplish we will see in 10 years if your still this dominant your a shoe in until then your a pro bowler in my book, i cant think of a better tackle then you

  26. BRONCOBAILEY99 says:

Caretaker30… We didn’t draft Elway. Baltimore Colts did. And he promised himself that if he was drafted by them he would go play baseball for the Yanks… and well he was… but thankfully we got our hands on him.

and I like what 15themarshall15 said… it is foolish… Even with Joe Thomson… Awesome rookie tackle from last year, but wasn’t as brilliant this year… So you can’t tell this early

  27. Lepsis-Fan78 says:

it was hard for me to see some1 other than lepsis where number 78 but u know what if you play like this a couple more years and my name will be clady-fan78
