Clady Makes History

September 10th, 2011 - 1:40pm by Kenny Legan

UPDATED AT 2:15 P.M. MDT WITH TRANSACTION

Broncos tackle Ryan Clady has been in the NFL for only three years, but he’s already done something very few players have accomplished.

Clady enters Monday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders on a 48-game start streak, meaning that he has started all 16 games in each of his first three seasons of his young career. He is the only Bronco and one of just 22 offensive linemen in NFL history to accomplish that feat.

Clady has overcome some obstacles to stay on the playing field. Last year, he had offseason knee surgery, yet came back to play in every game and serve as the team’s Ed Block Courage Award recipient. He’s been named to the Associated Press’ All-Pro team twice, and in 2009, he became just the 11th tackle in NFL history to be voted to the Pro Bowl by his second season.

The former Boise State Bronco didn’t allow a full sack in his first 20 starts, according to Stats Inc., and hopes to build upon his success as he prepares for Monday.

TEAM REACHES INJURY SETTLEMENT WITH HAMLER

On Saturday, the team reached an injury settlement with wide receiver Jamel Hamler, waiving him from injured reserve.

Here are some photos from Saturday’s practice as the rest of the team readies for the Raiders:

Congrats to Clady … One of the few Broncos who kinda chose the Broncos. Since the draft said he saw him self as a Denver Bronco in our zone system. Went from Bronco to Bronco. Best young LT in the league.

Glad to see a pic of decker, I got him on my fantasy team. Wilhite looks like he is already making plays.

Excited for this monday. Go Broncos. Restore Bronco Pride. Later days, TRB out…

If I every buy a jersey, it will be Ryan Clady’s. I’m expecting this year he will be the best LT in the NFL. Hope he’s giving tips to our new RT, who has my total confidence that he will also be a force to be reckoned with. Go Broncos!

Imagine what his contract will like in two years when it comes up for renewal. I sure hope Pat keeps him happy and in Denver. Think $60 mil for 6 seasons.

Just to remind folks, Clady was rated as a two star by Scout.com when he was recruited at Boise State. So was Kyle Wilson of BSU who was the #1 draft pick by the Jets. So much for the “professional” evaluators. If you want to know who really knows football players, look to the coach and especially Boise State HC Chris Peterson.
