Chargers Make It 24-0 Before Halftime

October 15th, 2012 - 8:05pm by Tyler Everett

Just before halftime, the Chargers added their third first-half touchdown to go up 24-0. The march covered 66 yards in 10 plays and took 3:56 off the clock.

The Chargers reached midfield with runs for 5 and 4 yards by running back Ryan Mathews combined with Philip Rivers’ completions of 7 yards to tight end Antonio Gates and 2 yards to tight end Randy McMichael.

A defensive holding penalty then moved San Diego to the Denver 43-yard line, and a 10-yard run by Mathews put San Diego on the Broncos’ 33-yard line. Another Mathews run, this one for 3 yards, set up second-and-7, with Mathews picking up 6 yards on a burst up the middle.

The Chargers converted third-and-1 on the following play on a short gain to the 23-yard line by running back Jackie Battle.

San Diego picked up 12 more when Rivers found running back Ronnie Brown on the following play. On first-and-10 from the 11, Rivers threw his second touchdown pass of the night to tight end Antonio Gates.

poorly coached team. How does a WR trip over his own feet? Way way to many fumbles. Defense is confused and out of possition. No draft picks are making any impacts. SD will run away with the division again. I hate it when we play on Monday nites cuz it embarassing getting blow out every time
