Catch the Third Episode of Elway Access Tuesday

September 24th, 2012 - 6:30pm by Tyler Everett

On Tuesday, DenverBroncos.com will air its third episode of the season of Elway Access, a 30-minute podcast hosted by Broncos TV’s Chris Hall. During the podcast, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway will answer questions that fans have submitted via Twitter using #ElwayAccess.

On Monday at 6 p.m., Head Coach John Fox discussed the Broncos’ Week 3 loss to the Houston Texans on the team’s partner station, 9 News KUSA-TV.

As Denver did in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, the team once again fell behind by 20 points before nearly pulling off a comeback. Fox said better starts will be a point of emphasis this week in practice.

“You have to practice it,” Fox said. “We have to emphasize it better as coaches. We have to execute better as players. In both games, we started a little bit slower offensively… When you give up 21 to your opponent in the first half, it’s an uphill battle.”

Though the Broncos record now stands at 1-2, the team remains confident that it can rebound from its last two losses.

“There’s no panic,” Fox said. “I talked to the players this morning. Of course there’s some disappointment and we’re capable of playing better, at least more consistently. But obviously this early in the race, there’s not a lot of panic.”

Fans, be sure to get on Twitter and submit your questions using #ElwayAccess.

Meant “until he sees the ref’s arms signaling incomplete”.

  2. OrangeTsunami says:

The NFL is walking down a dangerous path. Games being fixed is where this is leading, if it already isn’t already there…

  3. OrangeTsunami says:

I hate to say it, but Sunday is a must win game. We have NE and SD up next before the bye, and loosing to the Raiders would be a crippling loss. I’m really getting tired of all these mental mistakes, especially the dropped passes, and my finger is pointed to the coaching staff. I had a feeling that OTA’s, training camp, and practices had a ‘country club’ feel to them, and now I’m certain.

  4. horsepower1 says:

Well, I already have tickets for the game this weekend traveling from six hours away. Taking donations for the game on Sunday to give the refs a little bump.

I’ve been watching my Broncos from the early 70′s and fell in love with the game of football. Being a fan of the game and watching what happened last night made me consider walking away until they get this cleared up. I for one will not support the greatest game in the world being reduced to this crap! The ref who called the touchdown watched Tate shove the defender with both hands to the ground and could not even see where the ball was at and who had it. After this weekend I will be done supporting the NFL until something is done to clear this up.

It seems that about a dozen games have gone the other way because of bad officials, in just the third week. Being at home we should be able to get the refs a little more money to call a win, anybody in.

  5. strandoftds82 says:

That call that ended the game was the most horrific call in pro sports history. Pee Wee refs would have got that one right 100 times out of 100. Goodell needs to be fired or step down. They need to reverse that call and give the WIN to G.B. And Pete Carroll is a freaken CHEAT and has tainted the game of the NFL, like you really won the game, yeah right!! LMFAO!!!!!

  6. strandoftds82 says:

    FAIDERS WEEK!!!

  7. Orange_Crusher says:

Strand, Pee Wee Herman would have gotten that call right…..lol

Pete Carroll is used to winning with refs like these, they are all college refs… Now we know why college football is always having controversy…

Maybe those were they same refs Carroll had when he was winning National championships?

If there is 200 million dollars being gambled on every MNF game, I can guarantee somebody is knocking on some refs door with a bag of cash in hand and I wouldn’t trust these replacement refs at all…..

    THE NFL IS TAINTED!!!!

  8. tlcat06 says:

    Roger Goodell can fix this:

@AlbertBreer: Wow … Dug up by @Andy_Fenelon … Commish’s power includes “if appropriate, the reversal of a game’s result”.

  9. DaddyBronc says:

Now wouldn’t that be something – I’m for the Commish reversing the call.

Not based on the pass interference. It was blatant and egregious…but in a hail Mary pass it is expected and never called.

Rather…GB exclusively caught the ball {both hands and against his chest}- it’s indisputable video evidence. Under no circumstances is a receiver given possession of the ball for hands on the ball without ‘control’ as the ball is ‘downed’, or for wrestling the ball away ‘under the pile’.

GB was robbed and I would be ashamed to be a Seahawk anything today.

  10. alaskanbronco06 says:

Goodel wont overturn the game due to pandoras box. He overturns this game then fans players and staff of teams will demand him to go back and look at other games this year with questionable calls that couldve lead to a team winning.

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

NFL head office does say that offensive pass interference was missed along with a illegal block to the back.

  12. DaddyBronc says:

Goodell won’t overturn cuz he don’t have the ‘huevos’! LOL Wouldn’t want to be him right now!

  13. DaddyBronc says:

What about the illegal block in the back that put Nate Irving out with concussion. I’ve rewatched that rerun a bunch of times and I think Irving was completely unconscious upon impact. He moves some after impact but more like convulsive moves rather than controlled movement. I think that will turn out to be one of those bad concussions. I’ll be surprised to see him return quickly.

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

DB I missed that play was out of the room. So I dont know.

  15. DaddyBronc says:

Just another blatant penalty missed by the refs….maybe they were outta the room as well???!! LOL

It is already obvious to me that NFL player are starting to worry less about not committing penalties and more about how to disguise them a little. This is going to be an era to forget!

  16. The Dane says:

    next man up.

“NFL suspended Broncos LB Joe Mays for one game for the helmet-to-helmet hit he put on Texans QB Matt Schaub. Mays is appealing suspension” – Adam Schefter

  17. OrangeTsunami says:

Too bad to hear about Mays, but at least it isn’t a major injury or something. Anyone who doesn’t want DJ Williams back, might just need their heads examined… LOL! Hopefully A star will be born with either Trevathan or Steve Johnson…

  18. OrangeTsunami says:

Steven Johnson is listed behind Mays at MLB on the offical depth chart. I liked what I saw from Johnson in the preseason, he seemed to have good quickness and was a excellent tackler.

  19. gabeharter says:

I want to see some Trevathan! He looked awesome in the preseason.

  20. DaddyBronc says:

OT – here to have my head examined.

I don’t care how good DJ is…. and I am willing to lose games to not have him there! No game is as important as how the team and the league represents itself. No player is so good that he exceeds the ‘example’ and ‘role model’ he sets.

Forgiveness??? I got all the forgiveness in the world – there are still consequences and public figures receive public consequences.

We are more stupid than DJ if we are willing to hold up a guy like that having him represent us, and us holding him up as a leader and an example to future fans of the Broncos.

  21. DaddyBronc says:

Sorry to hear about the Mays suspension as well – but it is a reasonable consequence and it holds the standard high. It could have been a lot worse.

Trev / Johnson / whoever – make the most of it!!!

  22. DaddyBronc says:

    Just one man’s opinion!

  23. DaddyBronc says:

BTW – I have held the hands and counselled at length, those who have lost children and spouses to drunk drivers. It’s no fun.

My understanding is that someone who drinks and drives is the same as someone who drives down a street firing bullets into houses at random.

I was a kid once and I got by with as much as most of you! LOL
But…to do the same stupid thing again…. We should lock that dangerous person up!!! To not do so: is for everyone responsible for him being free to become culpable for the dead and maimed he leaves in his wake. I point the finger at the prosecutors and judges, as well as societies who vote those folks into their offices!!! He was given chances when he was let go the first time. Again JMHO.

  24. monodono says:

Any one got the lowdown on Knowshon? Is He healthy? Why was He a scratch on Sunday? Is He ready to go if MaGahee can’t?

  25. CARAMELLOO says:

DaddyBronc I agree about DJ! I am also one who doesn’t care a whole lot about him bc he obviously doesn’t care a whole lot about our team with his foolishness. Yes he makes a lot of tackles here and there, but he was also lost in coverage often along with plenty of missed tackles.

  26. OrangeTsunami says:

Why are atheltes held to a higher standard than movie stars or musicians? They are all entertainers, and while they should be good role models in a perfect world, their job discriptions do not call for it. It’s a dog eat dog world, and the NFL is no different IMO.

  27. CARAMELLOO says:

Orange I feel they all should be held to the same standard especially when kids are looking up to them. I know us dads have to be role models to our kids, but the fact is that every kid has a favorite player, movie star, etc. We all did as we were growing up and still hold true to this day.

  28. OrangeTsunami says:

I agree they should all be good role models, all I’m saying is unfortunately it will never happen across the board. When young kids (often from a rough upbringing, who may or may not have been legitimately educated) take part in a violent game such as football are given a massive amount of cash, it’s pretty naive to think they are all going to all behave like choir boys IMO.

  29. OrangeTsunami says:

The “class load” at most of these Universities for these star athletes is a joke, and everyone let’s them break the rules all their lives because of their talents, and then they get out in the real world, are given a boat load of money and are expected to all of sudden understand there are consequences for their actions… These are just kids, most of whom had no good role models of their own, and are often wrongly vilified IMO.

  30. OrangeTsunami says:

The NFL should take more of an ownership of how these players behave, instead of just fine everyone. They started a one time orientation, but that’s hardly enough. They really need to teach these young men on HOW to be good role models for our youth.

  31. strandoftds82 says:

Could you imagine what it would be like in Las Vegas if the game had been reverse a day later and giving G.B. the win. It would have been a hell of a nightmare. Those Seachicken fans who placed their bets spent their money the moment the cash was in hand. Vegas would have had to double dip. LMAO!!! Did anyone even think of that?

  32. tlcat06 says:

I do not think a guy who has never been even fined before should be suspended. I know the hit was ugly, but there was an ugly hit on Irving and are those guys getting suspended? Or even fined? No. I get that part of Schaub’s ear came off, but Mays is legit and apologized IMMEDIATELY after the game. I feel like we are seriously being targeted and if they don’t start doing the same thing to other teams I will be even more irate than I am now. Fine, suspend him, but you can’t tell me that there isn’t another hit similar to that this weekend with 16 games. Come on. This is football, not tag football either. I was upset about the hit because I like the Texans and the last thing I wanted was for Schaub to get hurt, but Von’s hit was much more intentional than Mays’ was. This is a fast game and good luck stopping once you’ve started. I doubt he woke up thinking it would be a great idea to take a part of Schaub’s ear home as a keepsake. Crikey. I’m not shocked that I disagree with DB, but I am shocked that I’m sticking up for my least favorite LB on the team. smh

    I hope he appeals it.

  33. CARAMELLOO says:

Oh I agree they need some type of mandatory programs for guys in the league at least up til their 3rd year. Many are 19-22 year olds with money money and more money. Since many don’t have a good support staff they wild out. That’s why I say it starts with us parents. My little boy just turned 10 months old last Sunday and mocks my every move. So I’m being cautious of how I act and the music I listen to so I can set a good example for him.

Yes he will face his tough times with out me but it starts with me! Not his mom or anyone else.

  34. CARAMELLOO says:

Yet no flag was thrown on the Steeler who hit Hayward-Bay helmet to helmet on Sunday

  35. tlcat06 says:

AND Suh had three bad hits on QB’s before he was suspended!! I think it’s so BOGUS!

  36. tlcat06 says:

AND Hayward-Bay has a terrible neck injury and was in the hospital. Schaub is just missing part of his ear.

  37. CARAMELLOO says:

What’s the latest on Belechick and Kyle Shanahan after they chased down refs this past week?

  38. tlcat06 says:

I’m just mad about the double standard and the attack on the Broncos. Some other people better start getting fined because we are not a bad organization.

  39. tlcat06 says:

Oh. No! They’re going to suspend players before they even think about coaches!!! UGH! I AM INTENSELY MAD!

  40. CARAMELLOO says:

I feel you cat! I damn near dropped my little boy when the Mays text came across!!

  41. CARAMELLOO says:

Now I understand what Saints fans have been feeling

  42. OrangeTsunami says:

Roger Goodell does not care about the players or the fans. His loyalties lie with the owners, networks, and sponsors.

  43. tlcat06 says:

I am furious. Why are they after us? Someone explain it to me.

  44. CARAMELLOO says:

He talks about “Player safety” yet these refs are causing major injuries

  45. strandoftds82 says:

Cat, Goodell is a bad person!! Absolute power corrupts absolutely!! He’s no good!!

  46. OrangeTsunami says:

I can’t wait for the draft, the boos are going to RAIN down everytime he takes the stage… LOL!

  47. OrangeTsunami says:

    *everytime Goodell takes the stage

  48. royalt19 says:

Why did Joe Mays suspended? It better not be because of Shcaub losing a peice of his ear! It was the earpad catching it that tore a peace out, not Mays being dirty!!

  49. tlcat06 says:

See, I have been very supportive of Goodell, but if he thought there were bounties before? I don’t think the Seahawks should play the Rams on Sunday, I don’t think it’s safe for the Seahawks to be there.
