Q3 – 14:48: The second half is underway. Lance Long returns Prater’s kickoff 46 yards to the Arizona 42-yard line, giving the Cardinals great starting field position.

Q3 – 13:44: With the Cardinals facing third and 17 from their own 35-yard line, Denver’s defense forces yet another turnover. This time, Vernon Fox intercepts Palko, handing the ball to the Bronco offense at the Arizona 47-yard line.

Q3 – 12:32: Brandstater remains in at quartereback to start the second half. He fires complete on his first throw of the second stanza, finding Matthew Willis for a first down.

Q3 – 10:37: On third and 3 from the Arizona 29-yard line, Walker rushes for no gain, setting up a 46-yard field goal attempt by Matt Prater. Prater drills the kick, giving the Broncos a 19-0 advantage.

Q3 – 10:32: Prater continues to add length to his kickoff attempts. He just drilled his latest kickoff out of the back of the end zone.

Q3 – 8:53: The Broncos continue to play stellar defense. This time, the unit made a number of plays to force an Arizona three and out. On first down, Moss tackled running back Chris Vincent for a loss of four. On second and long, D.J. Johnson tipped a Palko pass and on third down, Clemons stopped the scrambling quarterback well short of the first down marker.

Q3 – 7:56: After an 8-yard punt return by Swift, the Broncos took over possession at their own 36 but couldn’t move the ball, going three and out.

Q3 – 7:25: Midway through the third quarter, a 53-yard punt by Kern pinned the Cardinals back to their own 12-yard line. Moments later, a self-inflicted wound pushed Arizona back even further, as Long was called for holding — moving the ball back to the 9-yard line.

Q3 – 5:55: The Broncos will take over on offense at their own 30-yard line. Willis returned Graham’s punt for only 1-yard, however, 5-yards were tacked on to the play after Arizona free safety Rashad Johnson was called for being an inelgible man downfield.

Q3 – 5:00: Walker is shouldering the workload at tailback right now. He just rushed for 7-yards and 6-yards on back-to-back plays and he now has 65 yards on 19 carries.

Q3 – 3:40: After Brandstater completes a 7-yard pass to McKinley on third and 9, Arizona declines a clipping penalty on Tyler Polumbus, bringing up fourth down. Following a 49-yard punt by Kern, the Cardinals take over possession at their own 20-yard line.

Q3 – 2:39: Rashod Moulton nearly just recorded the defense’s fifth takeaway of the evening, getting his hands on a Palko pass that was intended for Morey.

Q3 – 1:26: After the Denver defense quickly haulted the Arizona offense in its tracks, the Broncos took over at their own 42-yard line. The unit only gained 2-yards though, going three and out. Kern boomed a punt into the end zone, handing the Cardinals the ball at their own 20-yard line.

Q3 – 0:32 Palko connects with tight end Leonard Pope for a gain of 13, moving the chains for the Arizona offense. On the next play, Vincent rushes to his left, picking up 3-yards as the quarter comes to an end. The Broncos lead 19-0 heading into the final quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

Q4 – 14:54: With Arizona facing a third and 7, Palko shows off his scrambling ability, leaving the pocket and rumbling downfield for 8-yards and a Cardinal first down.

Q4 – 12:52: After Antwain Spann breaks up a Palko pass attempt on third down, the Cardinals, positioned at midfield, elect to go for it on fourth down.

Q4 – 12:51: Palko connects with Long for a 9-yard gain, keeping Arizona’s drive alive.

Q4 – 11:22: With Arizona facing a third and five from the Denver 35-yard line, Nic Clemons bats down Palko’s pass at the line of scrimmage. Palko can’t connect with his intended receiver, Long, on the next play and the Broncos take over possession.

Q4 – 11:21: Brandstater’s evening appears to be over. Ingle Martin is now in as the team’s signal caller.

Q4 – 10:52: On his first rushing attempt of the game, Marcus Thomas plows downfield for 10-yards.

Q4 – 9:11: On third and 10 from the Denver 46, Martin can’t connect with McKinley, forcing the Bronco offense to the sideline. Kern boots a 54-yard punt into the end zone, and Arizona will once again take over at its own 20-yard line.

Q4 – 7:14: With the Cardinals facing third and 26 from their own 17-yard line, Palko scrambles upfield for 15-yards. Well-shy of the first down marker, Graham punts 51-yards down to the Denver 17-yard line. McKinley returns the punt 14-yards, handing the the Bronco offense the ball at their own 31.

Q4 – 5:57: With Denver facing third and 5 from their own 36, McKinley is called for a false start, backing up the offensive unit 5-yards. Martin can’t connect with McKinley on the next play, forcing a Denver punt.

Q4 – 5:23: Kern booms his best punt of the night, drilling the ball 60-yards down to the Arizona 9-yard line.

Q4 – 4:30: Palko connects with wide receiver Edward Gant on consecutive plays, gaining a total of 32-yards between the two plays.

Q4 – 3:34: On fourth and 5 from the Denver 45-yard line, Palko is sacked by Tim Crowder — putting a hault to one of Arizona’s most productive drives of the half.

Q4 – 3:32: With Martin behind center, Denver’s offense takes to the field and, following a 6-yard completion to McKinley, moves into Arizona territory.

Q4 – 2:16: Martin completes a 7-yard pass to Richard Quinn right before two-minute warning, giving Denver a first down at the Arizona 37.

Q4 – 1:06: Martin continues to fire passes as time ticks away. He just connected with Branson for a 6-yard gain.

Q4 – 0:38: On third and 2 from the Arizona 29, Thomas rushes to his left for 1-yard. The Broncos are electing to let the clock run out and the club will proceed to secure its first preseason win of the exhibition slate.

Q4 – 0:00: The Broncos have defeated the Cardinals 19-0 at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Thanks for joining us and be sure to check DenverBroncos.com for plenty of postgame reaction.

  2. Dynamicdave says:

McChessney is reported to be working on an injury settlement with Denver so they can release him as well.

  3. Dynamicdave says:

Meant McChesney (I never knew he was hurt?).

  4. broncs55 says:

nope – never saw that movie, never really had any ambition too tho. Everyone tells me I need to see it cuz it’s hilarious, but I’m more into scary movies, thrillers, action, those types of things. Comedy I only like every now and again and it really has to spark my interest. Old School has to be one of the funniest movies I’ve seen!

Nice job DD. Looks like I am right about the depth on the lines tho so far! We will see by tomorrow!

  5. marshisboss says:

Dynamicdave – I get your point. Watching that Chicago game with the cameras shaking was very nostalgic, I miss that. It used to be every down, every game it seemed like. I’m 25 so I might be a part of that generation, but I’m all about the old school stuff. Grew up watching them even in the late 80′s. They’ve said Invesco can’t be as loud as Mile High was because of the structure, but that’s lies to me. Almost makes me wish for a losing season to make all the fair weather fans give up their tickets so real fans can go. Sad to say. I’m all about the chant, the team has a renewal, now it’s the fans turn right?

  9. mad_orange_devil_27 says:

Don’t the Broncos have a fight song locked up in some dusty old cabinet somewhere?
