After signing with the Broncos on Thursday morning, wide receiver Andre Caldwell did a conference call with the local media.
He said that while his agent had been in touch with the Broncos since early in the free agency period, his interest peaked once the team inked quarterback Peyton Manning to a deal earlier this week.
“It was a big factor,” Caldwell said about Manning. “He’s a veteran quarterback who knows how to win games. He knows how to put players in positions to be their best. He gets the best out of his receivers. That played a big part of it and that’s a big reason why I came.”
Caldwell knows what Manning is like as a quarterback from having talked to other players who spent time with the Colts.
“I know a couple people who have played with (Manning),” he said. “He’s a work-a-holic. He likes to study film, he likes to go out there and throw and he likes to get better every day. I heard there is nothing easy about it. He is going to work your tail off, and that’s what I’m ready for.”
After spending the first four years of his career in Cincinnati, Caldwell thinks a fresh start in a new city could boost his development.
“I don’t think I reached my full potential when I was in Cincinnati,” he said. “I think I have a long ways to go, and I think it’s going to happen here in Denver. They have great coaches and they have some great players around that will help me improve every day.”
Caldwell also talked about how his older brother, Reche, has helped him through the first part of his NFL career. Reche Caldwell was a wide receiver for Washington (2007), New England (2006) and San Diego (2002-05).
“He helps me tremendously,” Caldwell said. “From high school on, he has been a big influence. He’s helped me get better. Coming into the NFL he told me what to expect and how to approach certain situations. He’s been a big brother and he’s been a mentor for my whole football career.”
After the call, Caldwell announced via Twitter that he will wear No. 17 with the Broncos.
Caldwell, who has returned punts and kickoffs in his career, said that he’s open to doing whatever is asked of him by the Broncos coaching staff.
“I’m all for doing whatever it takes to win a ballgame,” he said. “Return kicks, return punts—whatever they want me to do. I’m very open to it.”

Mays sucks,he gives up too many runs up the gut!!!
ab,Funny about the article stating McD’s Offense relies on FBs very heavily, when he was here he used (Prototype TE Hybrids for FBs).
OT if your talking about Mays im sure they saw something there. He had a few nice plays but i dont see him as a starter.
AB, what’s the latest on Webb?
So we’re looking at:
Bailey
Porter
Harris
Thompson
Vaughn
Gay?
I havnt found anything on Webb yet.
OT that would keep them fresh a lot of subbing in and out. IMO.
Mays trys to deliver the KO blow but usually misses and does not wrap up and loses the tackle. I still love his hit on Ponder. Ponder was garbage the rest of the season after that injury.
ab,Mays signed a 3 year deal worth 12 million dollars,he has to start for that kinda money, don’t he?
Webb was tendered at the first-round level
I didnt realize Webb was a RFA
So I assume we’re not drafting a corner then
BFE yea looks like he will be starter. How much is guaranteed? I hope Irving improve to play like many think he will play.
I am against the resigning of Mays. I know its done and over with but i am so against him. Ughhh.
OT who knows. Its going to be interesting to see.
Del Rio was a MLB so maybe he saw something in Mays or something that he thinks he can coach/correct in Mays approach
I just hope we can land a pass rusher in the draft
tnalen we can only hope.
It could of been worse. We could of gave Goody an extension.
I’m jealous of the Giants four man pass rush
Mays is guranteed 4 million the 1st year,I don’t know anymore.
I don’t like the move either,he was scheduled to visit the Colts until he heard we signed Manning, then came back.

Chandler Jones in the 2nd is a beast IMO. I wouldnt mind getting him but Martin and Reyes are my #1 and 2 choice at 57. Im sure we can pick up another pass rusher in the draft.
4 mil guaranteed? Wow. Makes me hate the resigning even more!!!
OT your not the only one who is jealous of that four man rush….Its something we need…
Yah thats how you win. Look at our 97 98 teams. Smith Williams on the ends , Pryce and ?? cant remember his name plus we had a 8 man rotation
Keith Traylor
Not to mention the Giants Dline is good a stopping the run to. They have one of the top 5 front 7s in the game.
I’m like you,I still have hope for Irving,we haven’t had a great ILB since Wilson retired.
A good to great front 7 makes the secondary looks really good.
Yup! Tractor Traylor!
I really wouldn’t mind seeing half of our draft spent on the front 7, it’s overdue
OT I say we go all D minus a RB and possibly a QB and WR 5-7 picks all on D all on the front 7!
After the Moss, Crowder, Thomas ,???? draft we have been scared to draft DL
Who was the 4th one??
Agree on both points… Given it’s a crap shoot, we have to draft 5 guys to hopefully net 2-3 solid ones
Very true OT.
Hopefully our odds go up with both Fox and Del Rio brain storming together
A lot of our past Dlinemen in recent years were taken by offensive minded HCs. I have faith in JDR and Fox to get good Dlinemen in the draft. Still need to spend at least 5 picks on the front 7
Carlton Powell was the last DT we drafted, back in 2008 (5th round).. It’s time…
Only Doom was a good pick. That was the best draft that we ever had. All 7 played. 6 would be starters and the 7th round pick was a practice squad. We have a lot of picks this year so we should do really good.
yep!!!
8 picks. At least 5 on the D. I put faith in JDR and Fox drafting Dlinemen. Look at some Fox and JDR have drafted. Peppers Jenkins and Mincey leading the name pack.
Henderson, Stroud too
im out.

Now that FB Spencer Larsen has agreed to terms with the Patriots, the Broncos are left with only Austin Sylvester at the position. With Peyton Manning’s arrival changing the structure and emphasis of the offense, the Broncos might have little use for a fullback and could use TE Virgil Green for those rare short-yardage instances where they need a blocker in front of the running back.
Later guys, I’m out too

I like every name! All look really good!
So we got Porter huh? Hope he doesn’t get suspended for the scandal.
on the front page when u read the porter signing, it says there are 8 corner backs on the active roster
WOW!
Just have to admit something! I have visited the Jets blog. I have not joined just read. I was totally shocked how many Bronco fans are blogging there I counted 26 just on one article. Guess many fans have a favorite player and follow them but remain a fan of their special team. I was feeling guilty about following him but not anymore cuz I can still love the Bronco’s too…. BTW I was also surprised by how much support he has there from the fans. I promise I will not bring it up again but if I don’t post much it is only because I don’t know much about the draft.
We signed Porter?!?!?!?!? Im so excited, the loss of Tebow is slowly getting easier to swallow … will never be gone but can’t cry over spilt milk, just glad we are addressing D like I wanted in FA.
Porter is a stud CB. Young and good. Great potential. A bigger CB that can tackle as well. Champ one side, Porter the other, Harris in the nickle, sydquan the 4th. Cassius Vaughn returning KR/PR. Loving it
Now lets go DT with our first pick. Too bad we lost Bunk. Bunk plus new DT woulda been AWESOME.
LOVE ME SOME D in DENVER. WE GOT THE ORANGE CRUSH JERSEY BACK, ALL WE NEED IS THE D TO GO WITH IT!!!
GO BRONCOS
So do you guys think that we will still be focused at least somewhat on the run?
