During the 2011 season, the Broncos offensive line had even more reason to put defenders on their backs.
For every pancake block the line made last year, Zane Beadles donated $250 to Brent’s Place as part of his “Cakes for Cancer” program.
This Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to noon MDT, Beadles and his teammates are holding a Pancake Breakfast to benefit the Cakes for Cancer program even further, helping kids and families of Brent’s Place.
“This event is big for us,” Beadles said. “We’re going to try to raise a little bit of money, but the biggest thing about it is just trying to get the word out. Get people on board, companies on board, and get fans informed about the program. We want to have them be able to come in and interact with us.”
The event will include a pancake breakfast from Snooze, a photobooth by Bamboo Booth and a station to decorate cupcakes with D Bar Desserts along with facepainting, frame making, bounce castles and a few more surprises.
Tickets are still available — $50 for adults and $25 for kids age 12 and under.
More information can be found here.
“The program has been going well,” Beadles said. “We raised $15,000 (in 2011) just from the offensive line here. The goal is to really expand that as we go through this year and get some corporate sponsors — we’ve already started to get that. So it’s going well.”
Beadles’ inspiration for the program came while playing at the University of Utah, when he met a 7-year-old boy named Ryker, who was stricken with Glioblastoma Multiforme cancer.
The Utes adopted Ryker as a member of the team, but about a year later, he lost his battle with cancer.
“I knew I wanted to do something with cancer and something with kids,” Beadles said. “I just looked around the area and found Brent’s Place. I learned about them and what they do and it seemed like a perfect fit. That’s how it kind of came about.”
Brent’s Place operates two hospital hospitality houses — one near Denver’s Presbyterian Saint Luke’s Hospital with six apartments primarily for adults with cancer and their families, and one adjacent to Aurora’s Anschutz Medical Campus with 16 apartments primarily for children with cancer and their families.
The new facility also includes social and activity spaces, a meeting room, commercial kitchen, library, exercise room, and an outdoor play space designed specifically for immune-compromised children.
“Specifically, the money raised by Zane will be used to provide specialized housing for pediatric cancer patients who have been required to temporarily relocate to Denver, along with their families, to receive life-saving medical treatments,” Brent’s Place Executive Director Sean Meyerhoffer said in a statement.
“It’s awesome,” Beadles said. “Especially when I go into Brent’s Place and interact with the kids and the families and they say, ‘Thank you.’ Really just being around them is huge for me and really fulfilling.”
The program is important to Beadles, whose family has also been affected by cancer. He said the rest of the offensive line has taken up the cause, as well, allowing for a little extra excitement while watching tape looking for pancake blocks.
“It’s been fun,” he said. “The offensive line, we do everything together anyway — that’s the whole thing with us. So something that we could do for charity and kind of incorporate everybody in the room was definitely something I wanted to do. It’s been successful so far.”

Well Mike what division do you want? Ill write you down for it and we can wait a bit before we start to give you time to get on.
so, i must rechoose
Dang sounds like the AFC is all set up for the mock draft, NFC gets no love
Ok Mike. I have you done solid with the East.
ab, who all is going for the AFC West?
Sorry BNO14 but since your in the running for the West I couldnt put write you in for sure with the East. Mike with the East gives him enough time to get on.
AFC West has LAX and BNO14 going after it.
AFC South is available again.
NFC East and South are both available.
ok, put me down for the AFC West still and have me do the AFC south in case i dont get the AFC West
Okay….one round or two?
And, I hope I didn’t screw you BNO14! IT was not my intention!! NFC EAST is a fun one too!!!
Ok ill write you in with the South if you dont get the West.
no prob, mike
I want the afc west most of all
Mike prepare for two rounds. If we can get through round one fast enough then we will do round 2.
28 hours away!!!!!!
ab, when will we choose who has the afc west? and how
BNO14 About 5 blog time I will announce who gets it.
I will be choosing a # between 1 and 100 and the person who gets closest without going over gets the West.
If you want you can give your # now.
AB: This mock is not a predictive draft, correct? We are to act as GM and pick the player we feel makes “our” teams better not who we think the team will take??
Let me rephrase that
A # will be chosen between 1 and 100 closest without going over gets it. I dont know what the # is and decided to make it even more fair I wont choose the # instead I will ask the girlfriend to choose.
Mike correct. You will be acting as the GM and making what you think is the best move to improve your team (in this case teams)
I thought about doing trades but if we did id want them done in secrecy without everyone knowing and theres no way to “negotiate” in secrecy.
That tough alaska … who ever gives their number first all the other person will just have todo is bid 1 number higher … kinda like the price is right … theres gotta be a way for them to get u the number annonymously lol. But i guess its not unfair afterall there was a game show based on this lol
TRB
TRB thats true that they just can one up them. So im going to ask that isnt done.
I did get if from the price is right LOL

Okay, two round draft. Can’t wait!
GO – PATS, MIAMI, JETS, BUFF!
Wait…I hate these guys, what am I saying? I’m confused. I feel empty inside.
NFLN Just heard.
A team source for Denver has said the FO feels Worthy is a bit risky for them at 25.
LMAO Mike!!!
I hate the Steelers and am choosing for them.
Raiders and Saints dont have a 1st or 2nd round pick and the Falcons dont have a 1st.
Thanks rbf1!
We do have several of the same guys on there buck..
Great minds think alike…. You might have a winner with Maritn at #25 though…
He is the one I want OC, but who knows. I think there are many games going on behind the scenes and besides first and second, its all just luck.
Doug Martin staying a Bronco is a lot of peoples’ dreams, but we picking based on best talent available and we don’t know who’s going to drop to late in the first round..
Longtime blog reader but first time posting. Quick question for anyone that may have the answer. What happens to the draft picks that a team has lost due to disciplinary reasons (aka the Saints 2nd round pick)? Will their 2nd round spot be vacated and basically have one less college student drafted in this years draft?
My apologies if this was already discussed earlier and I somehow missed the answer.
Got you down OC. And forgot to mention Kengro yesterday.
Little more than 9 hours left to submit entries!!!
Lol. As it stand right now, there is a 1 in 19 chance for Blog Bragging Rights…and a piece of Memorabillia. Great odds if I’ve EVER seen any!
Broncos Country Strong 2012!
Dejuan112 Those that are taken away for disciplinary reasons are just taken away. In round 2 there will be only 31 picks instead of 32.
sndvl you want to partake in the Blog community mock draft?
Gotcha. Thanks for the quick response AB!!
Welcome, Dejuan112.
AB, what about the other part of Dejuan’s question. Does that mean one less player is taken?
Thanks!
Yes. One less player is taken. There are actually a total of two forfeited picks. Saints round 2 and Lions round 4 or 5.
So two less players will be chosen this year.
New Blog.
I’m assuming that those players who are undrafted can be picked at a later time. Is that right? When can they be picked?
Hey sndvl, did u happen to get my draft entry?
Main the UDFAs can be signed basically right after the draft is done. Most teams wait a couple days to a couple weeks before going after UDFAs.
Thanks for the welcome “mainB”.
@ Dejuan112 welcome to Bronco Country Brother
Dejuan112 welcome!
I disagree with AB on the UDFA…teams will be all over those guys! I don’t think they will wait a couple weeks. Their phones will be ringing during the draft and right after the draft…unless there is a rule I don’t know about.
Mike I said they can be but teams sometimes wait a couple days some wait a couple weeks to let the dust settle.
Cant wait till the draft is over so I can talk to my bronco buddies again, dont really keep up on all this. Whats been going on AB, oo7
Not much Millertime. Been busy. Busy today. lol. Trying to set up a blog community mock draft lol
Wassup MT2! Just trying to get things closed up at the office so I can get home and get on the mock tonight.
You don’t have to disappear because of the draft!I love the draft but we still have plenty of other convo’s going on!
