After winning their third game in as many weeks, the Broncos have two players up for voting for awards for their performances in Week 3.
Knowshon Moreno is nominated for the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week after his 21-carry, 90-yard, one-touchdown performance on Sunday. His teammate in the backfield, Correll Buckhalter, is nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week after notching his first 100-yard rushing game as a Bronco, finishing with 14 carries for 108 yards.
You can vote for both players at NFL.com here and here.
Moreno is nominated along with Donald Brown of the Indianapolis Colts, Percy Harvin of the Minnesota Vikings, Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets and Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions.
Moreno’s 21 carries led all rookies in Week 3 and marked the highest total of rushing yards by a rookie yet this season. He was also one of only two rookie running backs to post a rushing score in Week 3, earning his first NFL touchdown in Sunday’s 23-3 win against the Oakland Raiders.
In addition, 20 of his 21 carries did not go for a loss. That 95.2 percentage tied for the best in the NFL among all players for Week 3 with a minimum of 17 carries. Those 21 carries against Oakland represented the second-highest game total by a rookie yet this season.
Buckhalter is up against New Orleans’ Pierre Thomas and Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew. Buckhalter’s 108 rushing yards marked the second-highest total in the AFC for the week, and the fifth 100-yard rushing game of his career.
His 7.7-yard rushing average led the AFC for Week 3 for all rushers with a minimum of 10 carries, and ranked second among all AFC players for the entire season so far. His two runs of at least 20 yards — a 34-yarder and a 23-yarder — both set up scores — a touchdown and a field goal, respectively — against the Raiders. His 34-yarder tied for the second-longest run in the AFC for the week.
So, Broncos fans, get out and vote for the running back tandem here and here.

Congatulations to our running back tandem.
What’s amazing is we haven’t even touched Hillis or Jordan yet LOL!
Can we run a 4 RB set! LOL! Moreno, Buckhalter, Hillis & Jordan all in the Backfield LOL
We’ll call it “The Quad Squad” Formation!
Nice job guys! Great effort! Keep up the great work!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Congratulations to Buckhalter and Moreno. Put in your votes Bronco fans.
voted.
1-2 punch! Orange punch!
Go Broncooos!
Sweet! Congrats to both of them… VERY well deserved. I’ll vote till I’m blue in the face and they BOTH win.
Get ready for more of this during the season, especially on defense. These players will get nominated for awards left and right.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
EVERYBODY VOTE FOR THEM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
You probably already thought to do that, but I didn’t think of voting all day for a minute or two… anyway, congrats on our RB tandem. They earned it this week.
I hope Buckhalter and Moreno can both stay healthy as that is the best 2back tandem in the league baby! screw Barber and Felix, screw Deangelo and Stewart
I almost asked “what about westbrook snd buckhalter”, but that would be pretty redundant, wouldn’t it?
How possible do you think it is for us to start 8-0?
Marshallman, I think it’s definitely possible, the biggest challenges I think will be @Baltimore and @San Diego. The rest are home games.
Marshallman, wo wo wo. I am drinking the cool-aid as well, but their are some tough teams coming up. All I know is that we are taking on the Cowboys this week, and I see a victory in site!!!
Moreno and Buckhaulter got my vote. Our offense and defense will be tested with Dallas, New England, San Diego coming up before the bye week. Just think the Broncos will be wearing mustard yellow and (insert adjective here) brown when we play New England.
Oh, right… we will be cheering mustard and brown in 2 weeks. The striped socks!! I’ve forgotten that!
Congratulations to our RB’s ! They are both deserving and working really hard.
Marshallman-15: Let’s knock ‘em out one at a time.
We’re also wearing mustard brown and yellow the following week at SD on Monday night right?
I’m not sure which other game they will wear yellow and brown, but I do know the Broncos will wear the orange jersey against Dallas and once again against Pittsburgh on Nov 9th I know there are some people who prefer orange jersey to the blue. I actually liked the blue jersey and blue pants.
I like ‘em all. I don’t own any 1960 jerseys or orange jerseys, but the more reason to want to see them, right?
at SD monday night we wear the less obtrusive away uniforms. white shirts brown helmets and pants with brown numerals
oops -meant mustard yellow ! I remember reading that we would wear brown and yellow twice this year. Patriots and possibly San Diego on Monday Night Oct 19th.
Something for those who can’t have joy with the Ws, no matter the rival.

Go Broncooos!
Thanks for the link whitebronco#1… interesting take on coaching perpectives with each Team going 3-0 early in the season. baylinor made note of how interesting McD is to listen to when talking football. How he is a very good teacher/coach. Boy Wonder knows his game!
Coach McDaniels has put together one heck of a coaching staff. That was reiterated during the offseason posts.
great to see a couple of Broncos up for awards, hopefully everyone hit the links and supported their rookie Broncos. A great start at 3-0 and Dallas next to make it 4-0, last time I attended a Bronco/Dallas game they hauled Troy Aikmen off on a strecher (was that you Romanoski???) hoping to see our awesome D put the bite on Romo this time and feed him some Denver turf, should be a great game
GO BRONCOS
GO KNOWSHON!!!!!!!
I’m a realist and 3 and 0 aside…I started really thinking about this today.
We have a great “O” line.
Awesome receiving corps.
I wouldn’t trade our running backs with any team.
Our QB is smart and a winner.
Our DB’s are playing very well and are coaches on the field.
LB’s? Good Lord!
And our “weakness”…the D-line? Please…I see no weakness there.
This is a very well coached, very talented team.
Why not us? We will be in every game. We have a chance to win every week.
This is our best squad in years….pretty soon, everyone else is going to see that too!
Go Broncos!!
I agree with everything I am reading. I dont think we will accomplish the 8-0 feat, but I would love to see us do it. I think we need to just take it one opponent at a time. One by one and make the proper adjustments to win.
I would love to see the Broncos do a uniform make over I like our Uniforms but I think that they could make some adjustments and give us a new look to go with our new attitude and new team.
I would like to see us wear the all blue uniforms more often. Anyone know when we will wear those again?
Hey everyone there is a really fun game at denverpost.com. It ask you to name all the starting QB that Denver has had. Its under the Broncos section. You should check it out.
I only got 8
guys Orton sucks really!our defense is great n our o line.once we get get behind by 7 or more, Orton will choke n you bandwagon denver fans that think Orton can take us to the payoffs are freaking nuts!Love denver hate Orton.simms or branstator could have done this because of our D.
I know that simms has it in him because of his dad.Simms looked great in preseason guys.Orton sucked bad n simms stepped up behind 2nd n third string O line.Orton had 1st team O n stunk.
test
havn’t posted in a while have been enjoying the season and checking out all the post on a daily basis.
whitebronco#1, I really liked the post on MHR. Never really thought about the problems Carolina has been having with their O and Delhomme..makes me wonder why he’s in my fantasy league…AWWWWWW!!
rizeupdenver what’s your deal bro..be positive and happy where we are, yea Orton is not the flashiest and most exiciting guy to watch and who knows if he can take us to the BIG GAME but enjoy our sucess. I will be the first to admit I was unsure but very excited about what kind of team we would have once the season started and every Sunday I couldn’t be happier.
It’s a whole new attitude in BRONCO COUNTRY and it feels good to have a fresh start.
As for the Cowboys I can gaurantee a W, Romo come on man, I think rizeupdenver would even say that Orton is far better than Romo.
Holla at yall later..
BRONCS 4-0!!!!!!!!
rizeupdenver…Wow, not even gonna start with you dude. But I will say Orton does NOT suck. Get your eyes fixed man and start paying attention to the games we play. Preseason is over and he’s making plays, connecting with receivers & RBs when he needs to. And if he sucks so bad then why hasn’t he turned the ball over yet? You nay sayers confuse me.
Stay positive Bronco Nation!
GO BRONCOS!!!!
Well guys who would have thought right! We are clicking on all cylinders and we got Dallas limping into to our house. I cant say enough on how the D is playing these days. It is finally nice to see me cheer for the D more than the actual offense too. I hope we put a beat down on the Clowns in Little D. Coming from NM this is going to be a huge bragging rights game for the locals here because this town is divided up pretty well, lets hope we can brag for the next 4 years or until we play them again. Moreno and Buck are the new 2 headed BEASTs in the NFL!!! Kyle just keep game managing buddy your doing good, Marshall stay happy! And bring on some noise in pain for these dallas fools. Go broncos
whitebronco – Orange Punch….love it.
07Elway – layin down the law.
GO ORANGE PUNCH!!!

GO BRONCOSSSS
im guessing there is certain times when your supposed to get on and coomment can someone help me out a bit lol
Welcome champbigd,
Glad to have you with us!
i guess throwing no interceptions and making smart plays to keep that int number at 0 and simply winning football games is rizeupdenver idea of bad wow is right orton has only done great things since week 1
glad to be hear!!!!!
Ok heres what I dont get the “experts” are saying we are heading into the tuff part of are schedule that we havent had a challange ok what about the teams we are getting ready to play.
Dal- 2-1 W TB- 0-3 34-21 They beat only 0-3 teams and their better
L NYG- 3-0 31-33 then us?
W CAR- 0-3 21-7
NE- 2-1 W BUF- 1-2 25-24 – buf almost won this game. Tom isnt playing
L NYJ- 3-0 9-16 like he can and the D has fell apart but they
W ATL- 2-1 26-10 are going to the playoffs?
@SD- 2-1 W OAK- 1-2 24-20 oak almost won this game. and SD only
L BAL- 3-0 26-31 other win was against a 0-3 team and
W MIA- 0-3 23-13 yet their going to win the west?
@BAL- 3-0 W KC- 0-3 38-24 KC hasnt scored 20 points since and yet
W SD- 2-1 31-26 Bal has one of the best D how?
W CLE-0-3 34-3
PIT- 1-2 W TEN- 0-3 13-10 The only team PIT has won againt has no
L CHI- 2-1 14-17 wins and yet their still really good?
L CIN- 2-1 20-23
Ya we have other teams to play but these are the next 5 games that everyone even some so called bronco fans over at the DP are saying we are going to lose. I know we havent had the biggest challange so far but neither has these teams look at most their wins come from 0-3 teams and yet we get ragged on.
everyone in my house is a darn cowboys fan lol my mother is having like 15 cowgirl fans over this sunday and i cant wait to laugh in all of their faces when denver d pics romo 4 times and doesnt allow them 1 touchdown!!!!!!
ps.. im still in highschool lol dont think im a loser cause i live at home with my parents!!!!!!!!!lol
ya but nobody had any expectations for the 2009 broncos and they just dont want to admit they are wrong until they have so its like their excuse of why we are 3–0
rizeupdenver,
They’re (Simms/Brandstater) also playing against the 2nd and 3rd string defenses. Most college QB’s could probably keep up with that.
If Orton can win in Chicago, which he did, he can win here, which he has. I’m not in love with the guy, or dislike the other guys, but give him a chance. I’ve seen the bad play from Orton at times too, but don’t forget that they’re 3-0 and better each time we see them. It’s a better start than most people gave/give them credit for.
???They’re 3-0 and you’re still complaining???
Go Broncos!!!
Welcome Champbigd.
It will be great blogging with you this season.
thank you i cant wait till sunday denver gona finally get some respect!!!\
welcome champbigd.
hey guys who was it that missed practice today? 2 guys mcD said but i dont see any info and i couldnt hear who he said.
also, just wanted to say…. i would like to see some short dumps to moreno. from what i have heard and read he has GREAT hands, and we all know he can run! maybe even a little screen pass to him. basically i just want a chance to see him in the open field. we know he can make people miss, but he can also run people over. just a thought….
GO BRONCOS
The thing that I like most about Moreno is that while he hasn’t busted a huge run yet, he consistently gets good ones. He is rarely stopped for a short gain. I love his balance and his burst. With more experience in the NFL, he’ll develop into an awesome running back. I can honestly say that I was one of his critics when we drafted him, but he has proven himself in my eyes.
As for the experts, they just hate the Broncos. I checked “what if sports” (a sports simulator), and it said that they simulated Denver beating Dallas around 51% of the time, but simulated Dallas winning about 73% of the time. See the math? Geniuses! The non-computer experts just have an anti-Broncos sentiment; they all say we’ll go 0-5 over the next six weeks. I’ll bet on us winning 2 or 3. Dallas isn’t as good as they’re hyped to be, McDaniels has the inside scoop on the Patriots, the Chargers aren’t as good as last year (especially now that we can defend against the run), and Baltimore and Pittsburgh will be tough games. I have the Broncos between 9-7 and 11-5 this year.
rayjr26: When asked, Coach McDaniels replied that Peyton Hillis and Alphonso Smith would not practice today. I’m sure you caught the response on O- lineman Hamilton and Harris. Like your thought process on the dump passes to Moreno. Video clips at youtube show some great hands! No doubt, if we can get him in open space, lookout!
rizupdenver is obviously a dipstick!
I believe Hamilton and Harris were held out of practice.
mikew007 hit the nail on the head, with what he said. R E S P E C T we dont need that, I like sneaking up on everyone. Chargers game will be a big one, save some of those new screen plays, and other plays for them. Division games are the real important ones. Orton is doing fine, better to have him than the cry baby. Remember, this team is playing like a TEAM. We dont need a rocket arm QB if the rest of the team is playing like they are. Running game and defence is what gets the big wins.
GO BRONCOS
