Broncos Win in Overtime

November 27th, 2011 - 5:57pm by Max Henson

Another thrilling comeback, another Denver victory.

Make that four wins in a row for the Broncos as kicker Matt Prater drilled a 37-yard field goal in overtime to seal a 16-13 win over San Diego.

Chargers kicker Nick Novak missed a 53-yard attempt to give the Broncos the ball back with 2:31 remaining in overtime and the Broncos moved into field goal range thanks to runs from Tim Tebow and a 24-yard gash up the middle by Willis McGahee.

With the win in San Diego, the Broncos improve to 6-5 on the year and have now beaten all three AFC West rivals on the road.

Wow – I felt like I’d seen this game before …

Our D has really stepped up … there are occasional plays that look awful, but that’s the way w/ any team … to think – Rivers and the Chargers only make ONE TD against the Broncos – Rivers and the Chargers only get ONE FG in the second half and OT … granted – they had their chances to win … but our D STOPPED them when it counted!!! …

As for Tebow – he made some good runs – he hit a few passes … but let’s be honest here – our D gave him FOUR chances at the end of the game and in OT, and he finally guided the team to where they could win w/ a FG … it was the D that really won this game … I’m so proud of them … they are growing w/ each passing game … and Goodman was the right man in the spot, except for that terrible “non-tackle” on #83 … he seems to be playing a lot better … maybe someone finally got his attention … at any rate, the D seems to be working together … I really thought the Chargers would win this game – I can hardly believe they only got 13 points against us … I know they’re depleted, but c’mon, man …

In defense of Tebow – Fox is VERY RELUCTANT to let Tebow FAIL … the play calling is unbelievably conservative … it’s like when a team starts the game w/ running plays, and it works for a while, so they keep doing it until the other team stops them … so far – this very conservative strategy has worked w/ wins, so they keep doing it … it WON’T GO ON FOREVER … they need to take the initiative a little bit, open things up a bit, pass on first AND second down for a change … actually, the Chargers had a very good defensive strategy, and stopped Tebow and MG enough that w/ ANY offensive output, we’d be talking about a 5 – 6 team … and – Rivers has so often brought his team back at the end to pull the game out – but today he couldn’t … KUDOS TO OUR GREATLY IMPROVED DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD …

gator i agree with u but they are not the worst wr. we should be thankful for the talent we have. look at cleavland or st. louis. but they need to get better.

  4. FLBroncoGator says:

Anybody who thinks that Tebow can’t throw and that we have anyone that can catch the ball isn’t even watching the games and is a compete idiot. Our entire receiving core is the weakest link in our entire team except for our head coach.

  5. socalbigbroncofan says:

i pick denver to win every week. i am a true fan. dont know what ur talking about. glax

  6. socalbigbroncofan says:

gator im a huge tebow supporter i do beleive some passes are bad and some are the wr’s fault. regardless we are winning and ill take that anyday.

  7. FLBroncoGator says:

I agree with you there Socal! Any day of the week.

  8. socalbigbroncofan says:

bay is one of the biggest fans on this site. just because he picked sd to win for a contest doesnt mean he is not a fan. plus he said he hopes he will be wrong.

  9. FLBroncoGator says:

The receivers are NOT just fine! When you have a short screen pass hit you in the numbers and touch it with two hands and drop it, in the NFL, you’re a LOSER. There’s no other way to put it. Our receivers SUCK!

  10. socalbigbroncofan says:

    ip sounds like ur jealous.

  11. socalbigbroncofan says:

a true fan wouldnt be starting trouble on the blogs with differnt handles. at least by my standards.

  12. FLBroncoGator says:

I’m sorry but Bay is just a know it all talking head that, half the time, talks just to hear himself talk. It’s easy to quote the “experts.”

  13. Crush Arizona says:

i just had my heart reinstalled! I like the win but we really need to get these receivers to CATCH THE DARN BALL!!!!Tim can get it there alright so someone make some catches please..

  14. Applejack says:

Ip config and renew is a computer line command telling your machine to refresh the IP address. Since Bay said earlier that Gray Caldwell’s folks had a hard time banning all of Orang/Abra/Bunc/ (can’t remember the last one) IDs because all the IP addresses were different, I suspect Mr. IP config might be old pain in the neck himself.

Maybe it’s time for a moderated registration process?

  15. socalbigbroncofan says:

i dont know him personally. i read a lot of posts and since i have been on here, most of his posts i agree with as well as others. im not defending him but where i come from (SOCAL) if u have something to say about somebody let him know. other than that I am happy we won. i am happy tebow won. and i am happy that it was agaist the chargers, especially down where i live. good night and good day.
LETS GO DENVER. LETS GO BRONCOS. LETS GO TEBOW.

I love Skiing more than anything else in the entire world; including the Broncos AND the Gators. In fact, skiing is why I love Colorado so much. I went to school at UF but I’ve been skiing since I was 4 years old and the greatest skiing in the world is in Colorado. I’ve been a Broncos fan since I was 8 years old and that will never change with or without Bay or Tim Tebow lol. GO BRONCOS!

  17. FLBroncoGator says:

YES I AM! Ready for Superbowl and Vail! The Broncos rule!

  18. FLBroncoGator says:

I totally agree. It’s time for a new coach.

  19. Crush Arizona says:

OH YOU MEAN LIKE MCDs? Boy you done bumped yo head!!!I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND FANS LIKE YOU, you see us winning and all the sudden you think you can manage a team better than anyone…Look we have a defensive coach and its our d thats keeping us in these games..GOOD GRIEF!!!GO BRONCOS BEAT THE VIKINGS!!!

  20. sndvl says:

Fox is more of a coach than that last fool who had control. Regardless of how the QQ shakes out, I believe Fox’s 3-0 away divisional record has bought him the full 3 years. At least. Great win guys. Especially since it basically sealed the fate of the team the ‘experts’ picked to win the West!

D is back BRONCOS COUNTRY and it’s here to
    stay!

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  21. BeastFromEast92 says:

HEY GUYS (FLB AND GLAX) DON’T YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO THAN BASH FOX AND BAY(HE ISN’T EVEN HERE TO DEFEND HIMSELF)….
    COWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. sndvl says:

Suppose I should have said 3-0 divisional road record…lol

    BRONCOS COUNTRY ROCKS!!!!!!

  23. BeastFromEast92 says:

Fox is 6-5 in his first year, considering we were 4-12 last year,I think he’s doing a Helluva job,a lot better than McD!!!

You will not run anyone off this blog!!!

  24. singer says:

Well I just have to say that a few of you people are complete and total idiots. Great TEAM WIN!!!!

  25. singer says:

Well ipcon i am talking bout you. have a great night.

  26. texasgirl says:

Doesn’t anyone realize that putting in Tebow has changed the team? Fox was forced to try adding him and he gives the team hope! He works hard and elevates the game of teammates with his faith in himself and the team. His faith and belief and humility has been mirrored by the other players, all contributing to the wins. The reason so many other teams are falling is because some of their players are sabotaging their game with stupid prideful moves! Let’s just pray they all stay humble and continue to realize they’re all in this together and anything is possible!
