A signed contract, a new uniform and 20 up-downs later, cornerback Jonathan Wilhite is a Bronco.
“It’s been an easy transition for me,” Wilhite said after his first practice at Dove Valley. “I did my up-downs and they welcomed me in as a part of the defense — as part of the team. It’s been great so far.”
The former New England Patriot, who will wear No. 29 in Denver, said he was prepared for Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen’s up-down initiation but admitted it was tougher than expected.
“I was tired,” Wilhite said. “I was trying to get myself ready for that. I heard that it’s a tradition that all the guys do, so I enjoyed it.”
Wilhite also said he enjoyed practicing under the defensive mentality preached by Allen and three words came to mind when Wilhite was asked how he’d describe the defense he’s become a part of.
“Aggressive, fast and physical — that’s something I could see the first day I’ve been out here,” Wilhite said. “Coach Allen has been aggressive and it’s been going good.
“He’s a great guy that demands the best out of you.”
Head Coach John Fox said he was looking for to add some experience to the cornerback position and feels Wilhite will fit in nicely with the Broncos’ plans defensively.
“We wanted to pick up a corner that was a veteran guy that’s done it before,” Fox explained. “He’s been both inside and outside. I think he’s well versed as far as understanding the NFL game. He was a guy that we thought would improve us.”

well said bay lol, its week 1 everyone is 0-0 the broncos have a chance at going to the playoffs just like everyone else the player that gives us the best chance to win right now is orton, if we start bad and get kicked out of playoff contention then yeh put in tebow till then… enjoy waiting to see if it happens, i for one think orton is underrated and will do just fine.
Why doesn’t the orginization just put a disclaimer on the South Stands so the fans know that this section can get a little rowdy. Sort of like the “student” sections in college stadiums. Sadly I have never experience the south stands you guys are refferring to but they sound quite delightlful!
I do hope I’m wrong bay but we have alot to fix until I change my mind.
Orange Sunday last season, southstands were really loud and powerful!
My wife has promised me a trip to see my Broncos…..hopefully next year. I will put in a request to get south stands seats! Sounds like that’s where the party is!
brian_schneider: It’s not like it used to be in the old stadium where the south stands were just glorified bleachers….the cheap seats. The mentality of the crowd there was much different from the rest of the stadium.

Don’t worry about them they historically have slow starts anyway, they can afford to lose the first two or three and still win their division. It’s the smart thing to do to hold Manning out, they know what they are doing.

In any sport, when you are the champ, you are the champ until someone takes the title away from you, and the Colts have been the champ in their division for like 10/12 years I believe, so I won’t even go there with their demise until I actually see it, just me.
