Broncos Waive Jackson

September 7th, 2009 - 3:14pm by Zach Eisendrath

The Broncos on Monday announced that wide receiver Chad Jackson has been waived.

The move makes room for Brandon Marshall to be placed on the team’s 53-man active roster.

Jackson joined the club as a free agent on Oct. 27, 2008. The fourth-year player totaled eight kickoff returns for 162 yards and a 19-yard catch in four regular-season games with the Broncos.

I could circulate a rumor that I’m dating Halle Berry, but it’s still a stupid rumor. Michael Lombardi knows his stuff. If he says the Broncos will trade Marshall, then I’ll believe it, but it will snow 20 feet in Tucson the day that happens. In any case, it appears that Simms and Orton are both in good shape for the Natti. We’ll see what happens. Come hell or highwater, though, Sunday will net us a win. GO BRONCOS!!!

  2. Greatness007 says:

I kinda thought yesterday that 7 WR was too much. I thought Chad would be the odd man out. Brandon Lloyd is to talented to cut. Has that star quality. You just can’t teach. Plus he got rid of Chad in NE from his O. Just made since to me.

does anyone believe Marshell will play well with others?? as far as I’m concerned anyone who will turn down 2.2 mill as mot enough money is a punk. I bust my ass 50 hours a week for 37 thousand a year. He’s blessed to get what he does he should shut up and play!!

  5. bronco-blaze says:

    Broncos-13 Bengals-10

Who dey think they gunna beat them bengals

    lol stupid bengal song X.X

  6. DeeJay27 says:

It’s A Business Wish My Boy C-Jack Nothing But The Best, But We Had 2 Make Room 4 The Man Marshall…I Think He’ll Be Fine 2.2 Mil Is Really Not Enough 4 His Production On The Field He’s One of The Elite In The NFL So Let’s Make Him Feel That Way Show Him The City and Organization Is Behind Reward Hard Work..2 Straight 100 Catch Seasons Is Enough 4 Me So We Know What He’s Capable Of!

  7. Seeingisbelivin says:

Broncos-13 Bengals-10 i’ll go for that. As for Marshell for what he gets payed he sould shut up and play. Ifell your 30 plus.

  8. bronco-blaze says:

yea it makes sense doesnt it? i mean i see us putting up SICK SICK numbers next year and the years on. But dont expect too many blowouts or huge number games on our side this year. Or atleast until the end of the season. NOT DISSING ON THE TEAM AT ALL! im just saying it will take ATLEAST a year to get the system down.

  9. eisfeld2k1 says:

I think the Bengals will present a strong test for the Team. They realy got good on defense. But i say 21-14 Broncos !

    Go Broncos

  10. rdwachsmann says:

Its time to show that all the head coaches moves in the off season payoff. Its time to put up or shut up and leave town. If they go 11-5 this year my hat is off to the coaching staff. If they go 5-11 maybe Bowlen needs to put up lots of money and beg for Mike to come back. I love the broncos and we have a rich tradition. If Brandon puts up top five reciever numbers he needs to be payed like a top 5.

    Go BRONCOS

PS with the recievers and offensive line I seen in Chicago Cutlers going to wish he was back in DENVER

  11. dbroncos6 says:

sunday will be a close game throughout. but the broncos will win 17-14, and marshall will have a td catch..

  12. broncochick1 says:

The defense is really going to have to show up. I agree with a lot of the scores you guys are posting because if Orton leads the team I don’s see us converting a lot of third and longs and I also don’t see us scoring a lot of points. He has been awful in the red zone and in long passing downs. I’ll go with 17-10 Broncos win because of the Defense.

  13. DoomervilRocks92 says:

I think that we’ll win 17- 10. I don’t think Marshall will play very well. You need to be focused to play this game, and right now, Marshall is focusing on either getting out or getting more money, not football.

  14. DoomervilRocks92 says:

LOL Marrimen using steroids! Now that’s funny.

  15. broncs55 says:

I believe the winner of the Broncs/Bengals game will be the team with the highest score when the clock runs out.

If anyone disagrees please raise your hand.

  16. DoomervilRocks92 says:

What if it ends in a tie? (it won’t, but it might) :)

  17. brian_schneider says:

broncs55: You make me wish John Madden was still commentating. LOL

    Broncos: 17 Bengals: 10

Not a high scoring game but the difference will be an interception taken to the house for a quick pick six.

Is Marshall a go then on Sunday??

  18. DoomervilRocks92 says:

As far as I know, he is.

What do you guys think of the signing of Vonnie Holliday?

  19. broncofanlvnm says:

What? He’s not from NE! Oh well, at least he played in the same division. JK. lol! He should do well. Glad we got him if. He will improve our pass rush and should get some sacks IMO. Good pick up.

  20. whitebronco#1 says:

broncs55: Good one… but i don’t agree because Orton sucks!! (jk)

Cincy D has improved from last year and they have Palmer back at full. Anyway I think KO will show a nice surprise.

Sunday is still far away… crap!

  21. broncomike83 says:

i think will win 24 to 17 but lets see…

  22. Torain ATV fan says:

    Broncos win 24-10.

    1st quarter (7-3)
A TD catch by Eddie Royal. (7-0)
    Field goal by CIN

    2nd quarter (14-3)
A TD run by Knowshon Moreno

    3rd quarter (14-10)
    A TD by CIN

    4th quarter (21-10)
A TD run by Knowshon Moreno

  23. Torain ATV fan says:

Forgot the FG by Prater in the 4th quarter
    24-10, BRONCOS BABY

  24. emaldo says:

Hard to see C-Jack go, I really thought he would pan out here in McDaniel’s offense but I guess not. B Marsh is a good receiver and has the potential to become top 5 WR for a long time, he did put up big receptions #s but the fact is he has only averaged 5 TDs a season. If he can put up more TDs he’ll have no problem getting his money in the coming years. Rec.s and yrds. get you into the pro-bowl but TDs get you the money.

Broncos W 24-13 this upcoming week.

  25. Dynamicdave says:

I hope to see a few long bombs downfield by Orton to put some of the naysayers on the back burner.

  26. paulbedichek says:

    The waiting is torture

  27. alexanserg says:

I said this after game three of preseason, but now I feel really strongly that Brandstater should be our starter for the year.

Anyway, I hope BMarsh starts taking this seriously. I mean, some guy just got cut to make room for BM. Forget salary and everything else. Some guy’s career just ended to make room for you. You damn well better respect that and start playing hard. Otherwise you really are just a punk.

  28. broncofan96 says:

I just hope Knowshon gets a 100 yard day against the bengals Id like to see him have a good game since he missed most the preseason.

  29. broncs55 says:

we are 4 1/2 point underdogs to the Bengals… I would just like to see a ‘W’ in a blowout!

  30. brian_schneider says:

I think that we’ll see some long balls. Even if we don’t make a big play on it, deep balls really stretch the D. Teams will throw a deep one just to get the D to stretch even if they don’t intend on throwing deep again during the course of the game. But I can really see a double move by Royal (with cheese, LOL) and a pump fake by Orton, and a resulting 40 yd+ TD, that’d be soooo awesome.

  31. BroncoWildKansan says:

I hope our D comes out on fire. If we play on D like last week we are going to go far. Our offense will get it done. This season is ours for the taking. I can’t wait till sunday!!!

  32. Dynamicdave says:

brian_schneider, glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks it can happen, lol. I’m ready for this season. Man, it seemed like an eternity in coming, didn’t it? Thurdsday is the Bears/Packers… Go Packers, lol.

  33. broncs55 says:

DD – I like the Bears in despite of the “C” word I dear not mention! I hear that “C” word is the most offensive word in the entire English Dictionary!

Since I live in Chicago, I could not root for the Packers, especially when what they are packing is fudge!

  34. Torain ATV fan says:

Isnt Thursday the TENN/ PITT game

  35. Danso says:

Every so called expert I read keeps predicting Denver to have an aweful season. Where do they get that BS? I think our team is coming together nicely and we will do well. Sunday 23-17. Season 9-7 next year 13-3. That’s what I thinkl!!!!!

    http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Wilson-Quinns-attorney-says-Broncos-rookie-TE-isnt-in-the-wrong.html

I believe you are innocent until proven guilty! After saying that I will say that the NFL or Players Agents need to find a way to educate these young players on gold-diggers or young women who come out on top being the girlfriend of a draftee who is about to be getting paid and dont know how to handle it. I am sure that a lot of those girls are young and suspect their spouse of all kinds of things since the NFL contract signing…they get mad because they haven’t married them already….they are hanging out with celebrities and NFL superstars and feel like they are getting passed by and it’s now or never to get on the train ride! There are some crazy women out there! I believe she might had been acting crazy and Quinn having a daughter to look after did what he had to do to defuse the situation! At least that is what I hope!

  37. The_Ink says:

What’s up everyone? Have a nice day!

  38. Dynamicdave says:

You’re right, Packers are Sunday. Our bug man came by today and sprayed and said that his Packers play Thursday? I just took him by his word. Didn’t look at this weeks line up yet. Sorry.

  39. BrownBronco says:

17-10 Bengals…sorry guys Im not impressed with orton or sims.

  40. Torain ATV fan says:

I got u DD this time, Hahahaha.

  41. Dynamicdave says:

    What’s up Ink?

Has anybody read the USA Today, lately? Todays paper gives all the teams a grade for preseason. Denver got an F. Yet they give the Bears an A simply because of Cutler? I thought it was about preseason? Bears weren’t 4-0? So how does that rank an A? This is the trouble with the media. They don’t stick with the subject at hand. They are soooo biased it is hilarious. I surely hope the Broncos do well this season. The media needs some serious slapping around.

  42. Dynamicdave says:

BrownBronco, crow is a dish best served cold. You want perfection from QB’s in a less then perfect world? Orton has done nothing but get better over the preseason, yet you throw him AND Simms under the bus before they have played a down? Incredible. You “nervous Nellie’s are too funny. Admit it, you had a man crush for Cutler (hey, so did I). Difference is, I knew when to cut the umbilical cord.

  43. Dynamicdave says:

Oh, and if you’re going to bash the QB’s, at least spell the name right, Simms, with 2 “m’s.” (You know I’m just razzing you, right?)

  44. JCW145Bronco says:

I think we should go with Sims or the Rookie Brandstater. as far as i’ve seen hes a better decision maker than Orton. but whichever QB we go in with hopefully they go run first against this Bengal defense. Or run formation and throw a deep ball on the first play of the game to try to catch them off guard.

    Broncos 27 Bengals 17

  45. bronco-blaze says:

    INK!! hows lulu was it?

And everyone please lets keep a straight lined mind until the first few games. LETS Hopefully ride the momentum of the defense against the cards. But lets also remember people were playing as if it were their last game….Not many plays consistantly play like that in the league any more.

  46. broncs55 says:

I had a man crush on Cutler as well. In fact, we have a man date directly after the game so eat it BrownBronco!

    lol j/k

In all seriousness, Orton will be just fine. Don’t throw him under the bus when you barely know him. Those of us that live around Chicago know what Orton is capable of, heck, he took the team to a superbowl and then they replaced him for that game. Grossman lost it – Orton could have won it though in all of our opinions!

  47. bronco-blaze says:

ALSO DONT FORGET! it was pre-season and mcHoodie wasnt going to show his weapon off **being orton/simms** thats why there wasnt many deep balls…You dont use your “special” plays until season starts. All the plays called were just straight forward football 101 =-/. Brandstater threw it deep more than simms and orton cuz he is 3rd string and has less strings attatched.

  48. Peytonoverthehillis22 says:

How can you guys give up on Orton before the season even starts? He played in three games in the PRE-season and improved drastically with each one. I just don’t get it. If we somehow start the season 0-5 or 0-6 for that matter then by all means start the bashing, but he hasn’t done anything except IMPROVE with each game he has played. I can’t wait til Orton is behind center come week 1 to put all of you doubters to rest.

P.S. I just heard its open season on Bengals!!!!!!!!!

  49. dnvabroncomaniac says:

Finally the real games start this sunday and I can’t wait to see what we really have come Sunday.
