Head Coach John Fox
On QB Peyton Manning’s performance
“I was pretty pleased with the first half. Other than the 0-3 turnover margin, I thought we did pretty good to take the lead 10-9 before the half. You would have liked it to be better as far as the points because we dropped a couple points off with filed position. Again, something to build on and something to get better from.”
On contemplating going on fourth down before the end of the half
“We thought about it but in these games, kind of based on first, you like to have the lead and you like to win when your ones are out there so the more sure thing was the field goal.”
On the defense in the first half
“I thought we were a little shoddier. We came in the game a little light on defense as well and that kind of showed as the game progressed but I think it’s fairly evident we have a lot of work to do in that area.”
QB Peyton Manning
On his overall thoughts on the game
“It’s obviously disappointing that we turned the ball over three times—two interceptions on my part. No excuse for that. I thought we did move the ball well at times and took some long drives. [We’ve] just got to do a better job of finishing drives and have to eliminate the turnovers and keep our defense out of bad situations.”
On his interceptions
“Every interception has its own story, [and] nobody really wants to hear it at the end of the day. A quarterback signs the check on every ball that he throws. There’s an old saying that the most important part of every play is to possess the ball at the end of that play. That’s the quarterback’s job. I have to do a better job of that. Two interceptions tonight—two in the red zone two weeks in a row … just can’t have it. Tipped balls … whatever it is … just can’t have it. I’ve got to find a way to protect the ball better and ensure we get some kind of points when we’re down there in the red zone.”
On the Broncos’ offense
“I thought the pass protection was excellent tonight. Twenty-three attempts in the first half is a lot of passes, against a good defensive front for Seattle. I thought the guys up front really battled hard, and the receivers made some good plays with the ball and some good runs after the catch—ran some good routes. So, there are some things we can build on but, obviously, some things we can improve on.
“I thought our execution of it, and our communication in that was pretty good. We just have to just finish the little things—finish plays and finish drives. It’s something you have to do.”
WR Eric Decker
On what he takes away from this game
“I think in the first half we had too many turnovers. I thought we moved the ball well. The defense kept us in the game. It was 10-9 at half. Credit to them, we could have had a touchdown at the end of the game—a couple dropped passes from us, myself, like I said, turnovers again. Stuff to learn from. That’s what preseason Is all about. You can take the good and the bad, you learn from it and just try to get better and try to get it out of your system before the season starts.”
On the importance of the preseason
“That’s the beauty of preseason. It’s a test trial for the season, I think. We’ve got a lot of stuff to work on. It’s a good time to work off those kinks. I think with how the game ended today, we found out a lot of stuff we do need to work on, some weaknesses, there are some strengths there too. You’ve got to build off those. I think overall, unfortunately, we don’t like the outcome of the score but you can always take from this experience and learn from it.”
On how comfortable he was in the no-huddle
“Very comfortable. I think that’s something that we’re trying to expand and use to our advantage- just to be able to get to the line, call a play and play fast. We want to get up and play fast, that’s our goal. We’ve got to establish ourselves in the running game and just do everything fast.”
RB Willis McGahee
On how he performed
“I might’ve had a little mishap on the first series, on the third-and-one, but other than that, I was pleased with it, but I’ve still got to do better.”
On if a game like this could help the team
“It’s football, you’re not going to have a perfect game. We didn’t have a great game this game. You’ve got to give it up to Seattle, they played good. They make money just like we make money. They’re going to come out there and play harder. They won their battle. We’ve got a lot of things we need to work on, offense and defense.”
S David Bruton
On the two punts he blocked
“It felt great. Just to put on the film that I’m a threat. Putting in the film study to know the opponent and his weakness and exploit it to my advantage.”
On what he saw on the plays when he came up with punt blocks
“The first one, I actually went up and under, stuck him and got him underneath and just put the long arm out there. The second one I wasn’t even supposed to rush. But I just bull rushed him and got to the punt. Stuck the arm out for that one too.”
DL Derek Wolfe
On his confidence
“As far as confidence, it’s just another obstacle. You have to build confidence and that comes with experience. So this is only my second game. I think I played like 40 snaps tonight. It was just good to get there. I had a long drive where I got a little gassed. It just shows that it’s not college. I got welcomed to the NFL today.”
On how pleased he is that the first defense still hasn’t given up a touchdown
“But still, we still let them run on us. They ran the ball. We have to win on second down. That’s what it comes down to. I blame myself for some of that because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time sometimes. Just get better every day, that’s what we have to do. We have to come back next week and get better.”
On the defense’s continuity
“I think we’re jelling really well. Our communication is good and everything. They’re helping me out because I’m new. We have a really tight-knit group here. We’re going to grind together and get better.”

B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!
I still love my team! as much today as any other, but I can’t find Rosie enough shades to put a positive spin on last night… just plain ugly so let’s hope for more next week!!!
Seems as if your grading scale has changed a bit since last year, where those “Tebow goggles” enabled you to overlook a mountain of poor execution..
Turtle…I’ll agree to disagree with D Line assessment. I did pay attention to them in a lot of detail in my rewatch. I think they held their ground, had good penetration, shed blocks, collapsed the pocket, and hustled around well. I remember Wolfe making two plays from the backside. Granted it was 4-5 yards down the field, but from the back side I’m happy. I’m not saying there isn’t room for improvement but for the second game I was impressed with their play. If the LB’s do their part the Sehawks have 30-40 yards rushing in first half and the pass yards speak for themselves.
Nickname me Peyton Protector because it’s going to be hard for you to get me to NOT be positive about this. He is obviously struggling throwing it to the right side of the field, but he is also building rapport with his receivers and although the timing was off at times we have to remember this is a process and we need to be patient. I was very encouraged by the passes to DT and how well he spread the ball around. I can think of at least 6+ people he threw balls to yesterday so that’s a huge positive. Three turnovers will not do and I like how he owned up to both int’s regardless of the tipped pass. I was also thrilled to see him running to make the tackle after throwing the first interception. I love that he got on his receivers for dropping balls as well. There were just a ton of dropped balls. That drop in the end zone to Tamme was my least favorite and I forget how conservative Fox is, but I really wanted us to go for it at the end of the half.
I still can’t believe McGahee fumbled! But what I liked about all three turnovers is that we came back out and did positive things. We can move the ball well, take a ton of time off the clock, and Peyton had ridiculous protection. I was VERY impressed by the offensive line. Talk about a bunch of beasts!! He got hit the once and that’s it. I was so nervous the whole game while he was playing and when he got hit and got right back up it was louder in that stadium than ever. THEN he threw a first down, which I just knew he would do and It was even louder! LOL I stopped being nervous after that. His two minute hurry up offense drill at the end of the second half was VERY encouraging and everyone should be happy about that one. We’re going in the right direction.
Chris Harris and David Bruton had a great night. Harris was extremely fast chasing after T.O. He almost had three INTs. I think he needs to pick Alex Smith off next week. Colquitt had a 69 yard punt and that was just incredible. Drayton Florence and Champ also had good nights. Derek Wolfe is SUCH a monster. He continues to impress the heck out of me. Von is Von and he continues to shine. There was a lot of fighting for a preseason game, but I liked seeing Ty Warren’s attitude. Bummed about Nate Irving getting hurt, hope he’s ok, haven’t had any time to check and see that. Andre Caldwell as well… I was more mad about that one I think.
Our second and third stringers did not look nearly as strong as last week. Thought it was strange that Brock played the whole second half. He struggled, but that’s to be expected because he is a rookie. Our run defense was suspect again and we don’t have an answer for quarterbacks that are mobile, which SHOCKS me. I like that our first string defense held them to field goals in the first half, that’s “something we can build on.”
I’m not panicking by any means. It’s preseason and I don’t expect us to win every preseason game, but I am encouraged by the first half of that game and I don’t agree that we are terrible or awful. And I don’t agree with the people who yell for Tebow (they obviously had no idea what the score was in NY when they were doing that). That bothered me and is EXACTLY the reason why Tebow is not in Denver anymore. I understand that we fumbled and Peyton threw two INTs but that happens in games and it’s how you respond to those turnovers and I think we responded positively. It’s sad, but I really don’t want to go to games if people are going to constantly do that.
I know we lost, but as a Peyton Manning fan and a Bronco fan there has NEVER been anything like what I experienced personally last night. I am never going to forget that I got to be there the first game he played as a Bronco. One of the best nights of my life regardless of the score. Good friends and football. Little gets better than that!
Okay, I just thought I’d share my thoughts, feel free to totally disagree
McGahee didn’t fumble, Ball did, but I didn’t see it! LOL
And skillz, Mile High is Like a second home! I’ll be going back HA! LOL
Didn’t see that it was him, I mean
Tlcat-Just one correction…it was Ball that fumbled.
I’ve always found it much more difficult to assess the performance of the team while at the game. The TV allows such good angles and details plus replays…also at the game I’m usually half drunk. BUT there is nothing better then being at the game.
Ticat06, enjoy the book you just wrote. Can you autograph it for me? LOL
Also the camera crews did a horrible job last night, rediculous job.
No need to panic, its preseason mind you. We have some good things to build on. The O-line looked great in the first half. I`m encouraged by that alone.
Mixed bag last night. I was very happy we had the lead at half considering we had 3 turnovers. Our team looked to have good depth against Chicago, but they got owned by Russell Wilson. Granted, Wilson looks to be a stud at QB.
But with all the good/bad, the only thing I want to see is Peyton throw a TD haha. Another tipped pass in the redzone was hard to watch. But it happens. He looks as though he is still getting comfortable, and I think he will be fine.
Generation… I KNOW! I could’ve sworn it was Willis, glad it’s Ball, HA! LOL

OT– Yeah, Turtle is totally missing his Tebow glasses, but then, making excuses for Tebow is okay, but it’s not okay to make excuses for Peyton Manning!
Strand– LOL! I told ya!
Tebow had a rough game I see…
Rough game? Isnt that pretty much the norm??
Scalp— LOL! I guess, but it looks like it was bad. I won’t have time for replays this week so… did you watch any of it?
Cool pics though Cat, looks like your seats are pretty similar to the ones I have week 8!
OH! LOL! I was allll the way up in 504 row 25… my mom has a good camera
Yup! I had to order a cable pkg here cost me 7 dollars to get seattles feed. So while it was annoying listening to the homer annoucers it was nice to watch it completely
I have 512 row 25 lol dont care one bit, I was lucky enouigh to score half price tickets so I only paid 40 a piece.
Sweeet!!!!! That’s awesome… it was pretty amazing for me. I know we lost and all, but still!
I’m so jealous. I want to go to a regular season game, but it might not work out!
I felt bad for ya not seeing PM’s first TD pass for the good guys. You seemed pretty pummped about that.
Don’t feel too bad… he did throw his first TD pass, Tamme just didn’t catch it! LOL!
Besides, I’m more interested to see how next week pans out… afternoon game against the 49ers. He’ll probably be hit again!
Or not…seeing as he took how many snaps and only got hit once?
OT–I was being sarcastic if you couldn’t tell…
lol Your right Tamme choked on that one, next week should be really good and I loved the reaction of the crowd when he took that 1 whole hit last night.
It was amazing. I want to go watch the replay of it because being there everyone was so quiet and then we went nuts! LOL!
What time is the replay coming on tonight?
DB- Is it okay for Timmy to yell at his offensive line? But not okay for Manning to yell at his receivers? Just trying to see where you stand on that…

9:00 p.m. mountain time
Hi Cat, did yall have a good time?
Man i was not surprised to see Fumbles well….Fumble LOL
After being asked if he heard the crowd cheer for him when he got up from taking the hit:
“I’ve never heard the crowd cheer for an incompletion, but I think the next pass was to Stokley? That’s what I told you I was gonna do!” ~Peyton Manning
Nice pics.
BLAST Strand! Best part is that I wasn’t worried about winning, I just wanted them to eat up the clock and have some success on drives and I think they did that well the first half.
They sure did. Glad you had a blast! Hey, its preseason. We can work out the kinks. And furthermore we can get some of our starters back from injury. Blah!
Well, Peyton needs to work out the growing pains. He’s not used to playing for us so we need to be patient.
AB… do you think that fumble makes him lose his spot?
I`m looking forward to seeing the game at 9:00. To tell you the truth I missed part of the first half of the game. I was out on a date with a beautiful lady. We got to watch the TD by McGahee as we were leaving the restuarant. We sat outside in Manitou having dinner and some cold ones. So I`m a traitor. She let me watch the TD just before we left. She`s a Jets fan. HaHa!!
Lance Ball is a great ST player and valuable to our ST`s. I think Ball stays. IMO
Well, you two go together like sardines then buddy! LOL! Too funny. Don’t worry about it. I don’t think I’m going to rewatch it because I like what’s in my head. I watched a few highlights/lowlights and it just is so different from what I saw from my seats.
It was worth it. She`s a woman of patience. She had to wait for the two back to back timeouts just before McGahee punched it in. She`s a good one. LOL
Cat no I dont think the one fumble will. Be he fumbles way to often and dont he he should stay. And IMO i dont think hes all that important to us on ST
LOL My luck I’ll get a guy who doesn’t like football and will have to wait on me all the time.
I’m gonna go get an early dinner and go to bed early, didn’t sleep well last night. Always spend hours replaying it in my head. Hope you enjoy watching it later and do your best to remember this:
http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_21346829/peyton-manning-shows-denver-broncos-that-hes-still
well, on ST a player can easily be replaced if he doesn`t cut it at his normal position. You have a point AB.
