Head Coach John Fox
On QB Peyton Manning’s performance
“I was pretty pleased with the first half. Other than the 0-3 turnover margin, I thought we did pretty good to take the lead 10-9 before the half. You would have liked it to be better as far as the points because we dropped a couple points off with filed position. Again, something to build on and something to get better from.”
On contemplating going on fourth down before the end of the half
“We thought about it but in these games, kind of based on first, you like to have the lead and you like to win when your ones are out there so the more sure thing was the field goal.”
On the defense in the first half
“I thought we were a little shoddier. We came in the game a little light on defense as well and that kind of showed as the game progressed but I think it’s fairly evident we have a lot of work to do in that area.”
QB Peyton Manning
On his overall thoughts on the game
“It’s obviously disappointing that we turned the ball over three times—two interceptions on my part. No excuse for that. I thought we did move the ball well at times and took some long drives. [We’ve] just got to do a better job of finishing drives and have to eliminate the turnovers and keep our defense out of bad situations.”
On his interceptions
“Every interception has its own story, [and] nobody really wants to hear it at the end of the day. A quarterback signs the check on every ball that he throws. There’s an old saying that the most important part of every play is to possess the ball at the end of that play. That’s the quarterback’s job. I have to do a better job of that. Two interceptions tonight—two in the red zone two weeks in a row … just can’t have it. Tipped balls … whatever it is … just can’t have it. I’ve got to find a way to protect the ball better and ensure we get some kind of points when we’re down there in the red zone.”
On the Broncos’ offense
“I thought the pass protection was excellent tonight. Twenty-three attempts in the first half is a lot of passes, against a good defensive front for Seattle. I thought the guys up front really battled hard, and the receivers made some good plays with the ball and some good runs after the catch—ran some good routes. So, there are some things we can build on but, obviously, some things we can improve on.
“I thought our execution of it, and our communication in that was pretty good. We just have to just finish the little things—finish plays and finish drives. It’s something you have to do.”
WR Eric Decker
On what he takes away from this game
“I think in the first half we had too many turnovers. I thought we moved the ball well. The defense kept us in the game. It was 10-9 at half. Credit to them, we could have had a touchdown at the end of the game—a couple dropped passes from us, myself, like I said, turnovers again. Stuff to learn from. That’s what preseason Is all about. You can take the good and the bad, you learn from it and just try to get better and try to get it out of your system before the season starts.”
On the importance of the preseason
“That’s the beauty of preseason. It’s a test trial for the season, I think. We’ve got a lot of stuff to work on. It’s a good time to work off those kinks. I think with how the game ended today, we found out a lot of stuff we do need to work on, some weaknesses, there are some strengths there too. You’ve got to build off those. I think overall, unfortunately, we don’t like the outcome of the score but you can always take from this experience and learn from it.”
On how comfortable he was in the no-huddle
“Very comfortable. I think that’s something that we’re trying to expand and use to our advantage- just to be able to get to the line, call a play and play fast. We want to get up and play fast, that’s our goal. We’ve got to establish ourselves in the running game and just do everything fast.”
RB Willis McGahee
On how he performed
“I might’ve had a little mishap on the first series, on the third-and-one, but other than that, I was pleased with it, but I’ve still got to do better.”
On if a game like this could help the team
“It’s football, you’re not going to have a perfect game. We didn’t have a great game this game. You’ve got to give it up to Seattle, they played good. They make money just like we make money. They’re going to come out there and play harder. They won their battle. We’ve got a lot of things we need to work on, offense and defense.”
S David Bruton
On the two punts he blocked
“It felt great. Just to put on the film that I’m a threat. Putting in the film study to know the opponent and his weakness and exploit it to my advantage.”
On what he saw on the plays when he came up with punt blocks
“The first one, I actually went up and under, stuck him and got him underneath and just put the long arm out there. The second one I wasn’t even supposed to rush. But I just bull rushed him and got to the punt. Stuck the arm out for that one too.”
DL Derek Wolfe
On his confidence
“As far as confidence, it’s just another obstacle. You have to build confidence and that comes with experience. So this is only my second game. I think I played like 40 snaps tonight. It was just good to get there. I had a long drive where I got a little gassed. It just shows that it’s not college. I got welcomed to the NFL today.”
On how pleased he is that the first defense still hasn’t given up a touchdown
“But still, we still let them run on us. They ran the ball. We have to win on second down. That’s what it comes down to. I blame myself for some of that because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time sometimes. Just get better every day, that’s what we have to do. We have to come back next week and get better.”
On the defense’s continuity
“I think we’re jelling really well. Our communication is good and everything. They’re helping me out because I’m new. We have a really tight-knit group here. We’re going to grind together and get better.”

I just got back from Denver, and I can’t tell you how awful we looked in person… it is still the pre-season, and there are many MANY kinks to work out, so I won’t hang my head or go into detail about how badly we played… Lot’s of time to get things straightened out!
B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!
http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=320818007
WTF? how can he have led 2 TD drives when the Broncos had only 10 points?!? This is a horrible article and very inaccurate… Irvin did not Blast Manning at all, and Manning barely hit the ground and you would have thought by the roar of the crowd when he got up we just scored two touchdowns on one play… Real head scratcher…
BT chill OUT! he did lead two touchdown drives, Tamme dropped a TD pass. So, that’s what they meant.
Haha. I was there too and I loved every single minute of it. But then it’s justpreseason and I wasn’t expecting fireworks. Look like I’ll continue to disagree with you on lots of things BT.
Chris Harris and David Bruton impressed me tons last night.
I’ll post my thoughts later when I get home from Denver!!!
You were probably behind me screaming for Tebow after that second INT? Gag me! This is a PROCESS and it’s not going to be perfect after one or two games.
Well, it’s preseason football folks.. Tough for us football starved Broncomaniacs to realize that it doesn’t count. After we crushed the Bears, part of me hoped that we wouldn’t just walk through the competition like that all preseason. You need a little adversity to get better, and I think this was the perfect time for a little eye opener.
Morning Gang!
Well, I saw some great things and some bad things from the game last night.
I thought our number 1′s played pretty well. The first INT was a great play on the D’s part……getting his hands up and having a guy in exactly the right spot to grab it. I mean, it’s still on PM to not put the ball in that spot…….and he was the first to admit it. Missed out on points there.
The 2nd was totally on PM as he put too much air under the ball and let it sail for an easy INT. No excuse there…….
I don’t feel overly confident in Ball……….never have really. Fumbling the ball in that spot was inexcusable……….
But overall we moved the ball really well considering the turnovers. I’m sure Tamme wishes he had that play back……
It was great to see the number 1′s play the entire half…….they needed it and I think we’ll see more improvement from them against the 49er’s……..who will be a much tougher D.
Our 1st team D did okay……..still gave up some bigger plays and gave up too much run yardage for my liking…..but they bent but didn’t break. Got lucky though that TO completely dropped that pass in the endzone.
As for the 2nd and 3rd D………..all I can say is UGHHHH. They were running around looking lost, giving up big play after big play and totally forgot how to tackle………Needs a lot of work there.
But hey, I’m not getting my undies in a bunch……..it’s only preseason and that’s what these games are for. I still saw a lot of things that made me excited!
GO BRONCOS!
Laughed my frigggin butt off at tlc’s 6:56am comment! Just hilarious! Thank you for making me spit coffee all over my keyboard…..
Good Morning Broncos Country!!!!
ILMSDB
I thought Manning looked good for the most part, and I’m not too concerned with the INT’s at this point, he will work it out. The OL did a great job protecting him, which is a huge positive, as the Seahawks have a pretty good defense. I’m not worried about the dropped balls either, as that will work itself out as well. I am however concerned with our run game, and I couldn’t understand why Omon didn’t get more looks. Maybe we’re overhyping the kid, as he was going against the Bears 3rd/4th string.
hey OC! You read my comment from yesterday? We should try to skype or google talk and have a little jam session sometime to work on the song.
Hilarious cat…………made me laugh! hahahha
Mornin OT……..guess the NY media is all over sanchez and TT! Hilarious!
Morning Kod!
I thought our 1st offense played well barring the turnovers. We have a lot of potential if we can clean up the turnovers. It was good to see a Bronco offense actually drive down the field easily.
I was mostly impressed with our O line’s moxie and toughness. I thought they played well and that we would have been able to score more and keep our D off the field if we ran the ball more than we did.
ILMSDB
I agree about the O line……….considering they’ve been questioned by the media as a weakness…..I think they’ve been pretty solid in protection and opened holes for the run game.
Was it just me or did it seem the refs missed a few holding calls against Seattle………Looked like Von got held up a couple times with no calls.
Bruton might have just stamped his roster ticket last night. He’s very underrated, and a special teams beast. Derek Wolfe continues to make strides, and by comparison, Coutney Upshaw has not recorded a single tackle in either game..
Yes that would be very cool! I have a couple riffs and lines. I never skyped before but I think it’s pretty easy to figure out, I will get it set up and we will JAM BRO!
I wanted to do it already but my wife has me slaving away on a back yard project and It’s taking forever…I think I will be done today though then I can get back to real life (music & football)….lol
I was also working from cubase platform last year and then my hard drive went out on my computer and I have a half dozen songs stuck in that thing. When we started talking about trading tracks I downloaded cubase Elements 6 onto this computer and went to plug in my Firebox and realized I don’t have a firewire port. I think once I get that all figured out then we can exchange tracks on the cubase platform with MP3?
awesome man! Yeah, pretty sure I can import mp3 tracks……….so we should be able to figure something out. This is gonna be so awesome………looking forward to it!
I try to block out the NY as much as possible kod, but yea, they’re all over it.. I watched that game, and the Jets looked just awful in all phases of the game. No real positives to build on. I don’t think Sanchez is going to be able to hold that job for long (either bad play or injury), and I don’t think Tebow will do much better. I don’t wish failure on anyone, but they deserve what’s coming for the way they have acted the last few years or so IMO.
*I try to block out the NY media
It wasn’t you bro. The refs looked like fish out of water last night. It was like high school officials.
Then again I can think back of some of the ignoramus calls that the Pro refs made over the last few years and scratch my head and wonder if we arnt’ better off…..lol
I also am looking forward to it Broham!
We’ll,, I hear the whip cracking in the back yard….uug gotta run bro…
ILMSDB!!!!
Bt AND cat you guys are no longer allowed at mile high
Refs were terrible last night, as were the2nd and 3rd teams lol. Really everyone playing could find something to improve on. Even Bruton with his 2 blocked punts was later ragged dolled on seattles 2nd td i believe which made it 23-10. I am going to watch the replay as im sure I missed some things because as it got uglier I found myself pounding back the brewskis! haha oh well lets get to work BRONCOS!!!
Funny ppl were screaming for tebow… they must not have seen his amazing performance last night!! The Jets will be a circus this year.
I have to watch the replay as well, didn’t get the best look at it the first time around. This is a good lesson on not getting too high on the highs, and not too low on the lows. The regular season will be full of ups and downs, and this is the time to work out the kinks. My only real concern at this point is the run game. If we become one dimensional, then we become predictable, and that makes Peyton’s job very difficult.
I think Peyton wanted the reps throwing the ball more than anything……….
I agree, but I didn’t like how it took 4 attempts to punch the ball in the end zone from the 1… That has to improve IMO.
I must admit, russell wilson looked pretty good for the hawks………even if our D didn’t give him much of a challenge. He had a live arm and his scrambling ability was really good. If it weren’t for flynn’s huge contract, he’s prob challenge for the starting job.
I can’t wait for the circus tent to implode! hahaha
*3 attempts
I agree kod. I think Flynn is going to end being Kolb 2.0
I liked the two blocked punts!
Peace Out.
FTR
I was disappointed that Osweiler didn’t take better advantage of his opportunity last night, but he avoided making mistakes, which is impressive for a young QB.
What a messy game. lots of things to clean up on. I`m still optimistic about our season. One game we look unstoppable, the next, we play like the pee wee league. Gotta iron out the kinks. Far too many missed tackles by our 2nd and 3rd stringers. I`m very impressed with Seattles QB Russell Wilson, he looks the part and plays like a pro. He sure schooled us. We`ll play better against the 49er`s. Manning and our O will play into the 3rd quarter this next game. We`ll be ready!!
Cat, I was only behind if you were in the first 19 rows on the 50 behind the Team… if not, I was probably the guy in front of you a couple sections Screaming to see Weber… I don’t think I would have been hard to find really!
) Black Von Miller Jersey, long hippie hair and Bronco Hat!
I just really let my hopes get up after last week that this was more than an 8-8 team, but what I saw last night makes me feel that I hit the prediction contest directly on the nose…
This team is starting to get some depth of Talent, but still has major concerns in very key areas… I never once mentioned TT out of respect for our Team, but I did buy the lady in front of me a beer for sporting her Orange Tebow Jersey and had the pleasure of giving a high five to a lady wearing a Jets Tebow Jersey! Took guts, and for that she deserved a high five!
It was a beautiful night at Mile High, and I really enjoyed being back in the Stadium… first time since the Steeler game, and that place is as close as this dude gets to going to a Church!!!
Haven’t had a chance to watch the NFLN replay so not sure of how things really looked. PM is not and never will be a rifle armed QB. He depends totally on precise timing. From the comments, it’s obviuous that’s not there yet. Biggest question is when, if ever, will it be?
The Falcons and Packers are both 0-2 in the preseason.. Guess they should both throw in the towel…..
Nice one OT. Hey, its preseason. HaHa!!
OT, what do the Packers, who were 15-1 last season, or the Falcons have to do with the Talent on our Roster? not much probably!!! but if that sort of things makes you feel better, Excellent man!
Fact is, our Team isn’t where it needs to be and the first team didn’t look good last night… they have some time left to snap around but I believe a catch phrase I read here often is ‘Tell it like it is’ and ‘like it is’ is we have a real long way to go! I’m up for a bumpy ride, haven’t gone anywhere yet, but please don’t kid yourselfs (or the rest of us for that matter)
B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!
Many have said that PM at 80% is better than (Fill in the QB of your choice) at 100%. Is this really true and should we Bronco fans be concerned? PMs passes are all about timing. He was able to throw to small windows that only miss being an Int by a fraction of a second. At (Pick the percentage of your choosing) is that window still there? First two games say maybe not. I’m not down on the Broncos, but just wondering out loud. I’ll still stick with my 10-6 record. Losses may come sooner than I think and wins later as his healing process is still ongoing.
OSS, I`m not overly concerned. If the Broncos get off to a bad start when the regular season gets under way, then I`ll worry. One good thing, our first string D hasn`t allowed a TD yet in these two preseason games. Thats something to hang my hat on.
I admit that we were a bit sloppy, but the first team didn’t look all that bad IMO. On defense, we didnt allow a TD, and the Hawks barely moved the ball on us. Minus the turnovers, the offense put together two nice long drives, with Tamme dropping an easy TD pass. Peyton had a tipped ball which resulted in an INT, Lance Ball fumbled, and Peyton made a bad throw for another INT. But despite those turnovers, the offense looked pretty good for just their second game together as a unit. These are Peyton’s first live games in a LONG time, with new personnel, if he wasn’t making any timing mistakes, then he wouldn’t be human. I’m not concerned with Manning, as long as we can run the ball, but it all start with the run game, which admittedly I do have some concerns with.
The second and third team defense didn’t look good, but don’t forget that the injuries to Hunter, Porter, and Carter pushed guys up the depth chart. We’re also playing without DJ, and Trevathan didn’t dress.
I’m more concerned about the 2nd and 3rd team guys. As we know this game of football is becoming more and more brutal and injuries will occur no matter how much we hope they don’t. The 2nd and 3rd team showed little to no heart. I know Irving got juked out of his cleats on the play he got hurt on. My wife and I watched the whole game even though it killed me to see us get abused like that.
I know I know….IT’S JUST PRESEASON!! But I hate to loose no matter the season, especially at home. We’ve been getting blown out at home lately, but haven’t blown anyone out at home since the Mcdaniels-Haley handshake game a few years ago!!
Please Broncos DEFEND MILE HIGH this year!!
I was at that game you are refering too Carmelloo lol one of the best sports experiences of my life.
Scalp that had to be fun that day! My first Broncos game ever was 2 seasons ago when we played the Chargers at home and almost game back and won. Disappointed with the loss but was happy to be there.
Our depth did appear to be a problem, but I think the biggest issue was with our LB’s. Hopefully Brooking can get himself on the field soon, and I think Trevathan showed promise as well. DJ will be available for the second half of the season, as I would be shocked if we don’t carry him on the roster, given our situation at LB. it’s not right, given his transgressions, but such is life…
*Trevathan showed promise thus far in this preseason, realize he didn’t play last night
Good analysis on both the Broncos and the Jets. Apparently the Jets are the only team in the NFL, yet to score an TD….
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8281817&categoryid=2378529
I rewatched the game in great detail last night and came away feeling much better then I did watching it the first time. I watched most players every snap that the camera angles allowed me to.
McGahee ran well except for that first series when he picked the wrong hole on 3rd & short.
Ball was just ok and that fumble was not good.
Manning threw well and made good reads. He may have missed 1 open receiver that I could tell when he threw incomplete to Tamme.
Tamme and Dreessen both had big miscues (that pick where Dreessen totally wussed out on and put his arm down to brace for impact was the worst play of the night and Tamme dropped a sure TD)
O Line blocked great on the ground and pass protection. There were a couple plays that different guys probably made the wrong read and went to the second level too early.
D Line played great. Wolfe continues to impress and Warren and Bannen actually showed up.
LB’s played poorly. Especially Mays. He continues to kill me every week and I am just as convinced he’s our weak spot. My issue with him is missing tackles, over persuing, or regularly running into the backs of the d line instead of filling holes. When he does fill a hole he misses the tackle. He did make a couple plays however but must be more consistent. He needs to be a 2 IMO. Not sure who could replace him though. Perhaps Irving or Brooking.
The secondary did ok. I thought the corners played well and the safties played well in run support but seemed to be absent over the top a couple times. Moore had one missed tackle but played well other then that. On that TO drop in the end zone I think Adams was supposed to be over the top. Can’t have misses like that during the season. Harris played well.
Special teams played very well.
The second half was ugly but most of those guys were 3s and 4s playing against Seattle 2′s who looked pretty good.
It’s not easy to have -3 turnover margin and leave the half with a lead. That alone speaks volumes.
The only reason that the First team D hasn’t allowed a TD is because TO can’t catch!!! and we played against who from Chicago? these stats mean nothing… 3rd, watch the game again, and this time pay special attention to our DL. We were worked last night up front on the first unit, Wolfe especially had trouble disengaging from a single blocker… I’m watching the game again on DVR right now…
Our guys had a real hard time on all units tackling again last night, and that is something that should be a concern for everyone…
