COIN TOSS: The captains are at midfield for the coin toss. For the Broncos it’s Daniel Fells, Knowshon Moreno, Joe Mays, Britton Colquitt, Wesley Woodyard and Andre’ Goodman. The Broncos have won the toss and will receive to start the game.

KICKOFF: Cassius Vaughn is deep to return the kick from Jeff Reed for the Broncos but the kick goes through the end zone for the touchback.

KICKOFF ROUND II: An offsides is called on the Seahawks so we’ll have a re-kick. The kick goes through the end zone again so Denver will start at the 20.

Q1 15:00: The offensive starters are now on the field, led by Kyle Orton at Quarterback. The starters along the offensive line from left to right are Ryan Clady, Zane Beadles, J.D. Walton, Chris Kuper and Orlando Franklin. Knowshon Moreno is starting at running back behind Spencer Larsen at fullback, with Brandon Lloyd and Eddie Royal out wide. Daniel Fells is starting at tight end.

Q1 14:07: After some early penalties on Denver, Eddie Royal picks 10 yards but its not enough for a first down and Colquitt punts the ball away. Leon Washington fields the punt and is stopped quickly by Matt Willis. Seattle starts on their own 25 yard-line after the 61-yard punt.

Q1 12:22: Justin Forsett runs for a short gain on first down. On second down, Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil meet at the QB to force an incompletion. Third down was much of the same as Miller and Robert Ayers team up to again force an incompletion from Tarvaris Jackson.

Q1 12:02: Syd’Quan Thompson returns the ensuing punt 19 yards and Denver will start at their own 31-yard line. For the record, the defensive starters for Denver were: Elvis Dumervil, Kevin Vickerson, Brodrick Bunkley and Robert Ayers round out the D-line. Von Miller, Joe Mays and D.J. Williams are the starting the linebackers with Champ Bailey, Andre’ Goodman, Rahim Moore and Brian Dawkins in the defensive backfield.

Q1 12:01: Moreno runs right and finds space for a first down on a 14-yard gain.

Q1 10:49: Orton has plenty of time in the pocket and finds Julius Thomas wide open down the sideline for a 21-yard gain.

Q1 10:38: Orlando Franklin is flagged for illegal formation, bringing up first-and-15. Orton’s pass is intercepted in the flat on first down by Chris Clemons so Seattle will take over at their own 41-yard line.

Q1 10:06: On first down, Jackson tries to squeeze the ball into Forsett on a quick post but Goodman knocks it away. Forsett’s second-down run goes for 4 yards. Before the third down snap, a flag is thrown on Vickerson for encroachment, setting up third-and-one. Thomas Clayton runs left and picks up enough for a first down. D.J. Williams is down injured after the play and is now being helped off by trainers.

Q1 9:00: Seattle resumes play with a new set of downs from the Broncos’ 48-yard line and Wesley Woodyard is in as Williams’ replacement. Sidney Rice picks up six yards on a short completion on first down. Jackson’s second-down pass is broken up by Champ Bailey.

*INJURY UPDATE: Williams is out for the game with a sprained elbow.

Q1 7:49: Jackson’s third down pass is incomplete and the Seahawks punt it away. Thompson returns the punt six yards and the Broncos will start the drive at their own 18-yard line.

Q1 7:48: Willis McGahee enters the game and runs up the middle for 2 yards on first down. Orton is sacked by Marcus Trufant on second down, bringing up 3rd-and-23 at the Broncos 5-yard line. McGahee runs up the middle on third and long and after a 5 yard gain the Broncos are set to punt. Colquitt’s 45-yard punt is fair-caught and Seattle will take over at their own 46-yard line.

Q1 6:02: Joe Mays absolutely drills Washington on first down after a 1-yard gain. On second down, Washington grabs a short pass and picks up 8 yards after the catch. Brodrick Bunkley is down injured after the play. Bunkley walks off the field under his own power. Ryan McBean is in the game as Bunkley’s replacement. On third and short, Seattle picks up 5 yards on a short pass for a new set of downs. Vickerson breaks into the backfield on first-and-10 to drop Washington for a 4-yard loss. On second down, Washington runs left and picks up 10 yards. Jackson’s third down pass is broken up by Cassius Vaughn — who nearly intercepted the ball after jumping the slant route. Reed’s 52-yard field goal attempt is good as the Seahawks take a 3-0 lead.

SEAHAWKS 3, BRONCOS 0

Q1 3:05: The ensuing kickoff goes through the end zone and Denver will start at the 20. On first down, Moreno high steps up the middle and picks up 8 yards. Moreno cuts it back on second down and picks up enough for a first down. Orton hooks up with a diving Lloyd for a 17-yard gain. After a short run from Moreno, Seattle is flagged for illegal hands to the face to give Denver a first down. An incompletion on first down brings up second-and-10. Moreno runs right and picks up 2 yards to bring up third-and-8. Orton hits Eric Decker in stride on third down for 24-yard gain to set the Broncos up deep in Seattle territory as the first quarter comes to a close.

**INJURY UPDATE: Bunkley is questionable to return with a knee injury

Q2 15:00: On first down from the 16-yard line, Orton finds Larsen off a play-action rollout for a 7 yard pickup. McGahee runs up the middle for a 2 yard gain on second down. McGahee runs right and fights for a first down. Now, first and goal from the 4 yard line and Moreno picks up 2 yards running left. On second down, McGahee runs left and weaves his way through some defenders to find the end zone. Prater’s extra point is good.

BRONCOS 7, SEAHAWKS 3

Q2 12:27: Prater’s kick goes through the end zone and Seattle starts at the 20. On first down, Jackson is swarmed by Woodyard and Dumervil and is dropped for the sack. Jackson throws short to Anthony McCoy on second down, who hurdles a defender, setting up thrid-and-8. Jackson’s third down pass is broken up at the line by Dawkins who came in on a blitz and the Broncos decline a chop block flag to bring on the punt team. Thompson is swallowed up on the punt return and the Broncos will start at their own 30-yard line.

Q2 11:01: Royal drops a pass after play-action on first down. Orton checks it down to J. Thomas for a 9 yard gain on second down. Moreno runs up the middle on third-and-short and its not enough for a first down. Colquitt punts it 61-yards as Doug Baldwin lets it skip into the end zone for a touchback. Colquitt nearly hit the punt perfectly as the ball grazed the pylon on its way out.

Q2 9:27: Dumervil and Moore wrap up Forsett on first down for no gain. Jackson is sacked by Von Miller as the pocket collapses on second down to bring up third-and-15. Jackson throws short on third down and Ben Obamanu is leveled by Ayers to bring on the punt unit. Thompson has room to run on the return and takes it up to the Broncos’ 40-yard line, but a flag on the Seahawks will force a re-kick. On the second attempt, Thompson calls for fair-catch and lets the ball skip to the Seattle 45-yard line.

Q2 7:07: Orton goes deep for Lloyd on first down but the ball falls incomplete in the end zone. On second down, McGahee finds some room to run left and picks up 6 yards. Orton’s pass is dropped by Fells on third down and Prater is in for the 57-yard field goal attempt. Prater drills it through the uprights.

BRONCOS 10, SEAHAWKS 3

Q2 6:22: Prater’s kick goes through the end zone again and Seattle starts another drive at the 20. Jackson fires complete to Williams for a 6 yard gain on first down. Jackson rolls right after play-action on second down, but his pass is dropped by Sidney Rice. The Broncos bring the pressure again on third down and Jackson is sacked this time by Dumervil. Thompson returns the ensuing 66-yard punt to the Denver 26-yard line.

Q2 5:00: Orton goes over the middle to J. Thomas for a quick 20-yard gain on first down. McGahee then runs right for a one-yard loss. On second down, McGahee finds some room up the gut on a draw and he picks up 6 yards to bring up third-and-five. Orton scrambles up the middle but is just short of the marker, bringing up fourth-and-one. On fourth down, McGahee takes the handoff right but is stopped short and the Broncos turn the ball over on downs.

Q2 2:32: Washington runs right and he is tracked down by Joe Mays who throws down the running back for no gain. That brings us to the the 2-minute warning.

Q2 2:00: A flag is thrown for a false start on Seattle tackle Tyler Polumbus. On second-and-15, Jackson throws a screen to Washington, who picks up 11 yards. Jackson’s third down pass is incomplete as he feels more pressure from Dumervil and Miller — or as the rookie coined them in the offseason, Batman and Robin.

Q2 1:00: After the punt, Moreno runs up the middle for a short gain. Orton then fires complete to Decker for a first down and Denver calls a timeout.

Q2 0:32: Orton completes to Decker again on first down and he picks up 8 yards before Denver calls another timeout.

Q2 0:27: Orton scrambles for a short gain with no one open downfield but Walton is flagged for holding on the play. On second-and-12, drops one off to Moreno over the middle for a 11 yard gain as the Broncos call their final timeout.

Q2 0:10: On third-and-one, Orton fires down the sideline to Royal who gets out of bounds with 4 seconds remaining. Prater is in to try a 69-yard field goal……..and the kick falls short a yard or two under the crossbar. That does it for the first half of play as the Broncos enter the locker room with a 10-3 lead.

See you after the halftime break in the second half blog.

  12. tbronc30 says:

man 28 yards against so far this half

  13. fthoodfan says:

at least our d is good against the worst offense so far in the pre season.. this game is not even a measuring stick..

  14. alexanserg says:

our d is exciting so far

  15. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

We’ll all in all i’m absolutely elated with our 1st team defense pass and rush in this game

  16. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

    *well

  17. randy2191 says:

mine shows 46 but still good!

  18. mex bronco says:

thats the problem broncos will never get credit for anything you will see analysts (jaimi dukes) saying that the only reason our D was good was because the seahawks are a bad team

  19. tbronc30 says:

Can’t wait to see what they look like against GB in week 4 that’ll be the first TRUE test

  20. sndvl says:

The same way I feel about that head 1st slide.

    Not good

  21. tbronc30 says:

thats espn gc for u lol

  22. 1nOnlyTRB says:

and this is with no Ty Warren or Bunkley who has been amazing this preseason. And obvoiusly no Marcus Thomas either. I really wanted Patrick Peterson but how can I argue with what im seeing in Miller. We couldnt go wrong either way.

  23. alexanserg says:

GB is just about the best team in the league right now, so yeah that will be a true measuring stick.

  24. tbronc30 says:

I agree, they will be good for awhile with all that youth

  25. alexanserg says:

lol Doom and Miller will be giving QBs nightmares all season

  26. fthoodfan says:

yeah gb will be… if anyone plays starters

  27. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

Another 3rd down stoppage Doom and Miller with the pressure

  28. mex bronco says:

i think we should win our first 3 games so GB should be a nice test

  29. fthoodfan says:

I want to believe in this team. really.. but…..

  30. mex bronco says:

    2min drill

  31. alexanserg says:

moreno had a slow start in this game, but he still looks greatly improved

  32. randy2191 says:

we just need to get some good youth at CB.. in hnestly if we get the QB situation of the future hopefully it tebow or quinn or even orton.. all we wineed is a good young CB (actually 2) a good young DT and another good S

  33. sndvl says:

You know. Seattle isn’t really that bad of a team. Afterall, they bounced the defending champs last year.

  34. tbronc30 says:

They were 4-12 last year so any improvement is a start to going in the right direction

  35. fthoodfan says:

i bet “efx” are thinking.. we picked that guy? were screwed….

  36. tbronc30 says:

Yeah aside from Bailey I don’t really like any of the CBs. Some are showing good things but you need starters not depth.

  37. fthoodfan says:

    that guy = orton

  38. alexanserg says:

IDK, Vaughn is looking like a legit starter so far this preseason

  39. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

    Moreno looks hurt :(

  40. alexanserg says:

heh, looks like moreno caught a nut shot

  41. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

looks like he got shaken up a bit

  42. 1nOnlyTRB says:

CBs are fine. we could use better ones …

  43. 1nOnlyTRB says:

havent fully seen what vaughn perrish and syd can do. Goodman is good too

  44. tbronc30 says:

    Yeah it could be worse

  45. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

Nice grab Royal! Prater going for a 69 yarder

  46. BroncoRoyaltyEst.1979 says:

    Short

  47. randy2191 says:

im talking future. bailey is gettin up there and so is goody there gunna need some young blood

  48. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Prater short … NOOOOOOOOO WAY lol

  49. 1nOnlyTRB says:

well at least we know he can almost make it lol

  50. alexanserg says:

woulda been epic if prater had hit from 69 yards
