HALFTIME: The Broncos will receive the ball to start the second half.
Q3 15:00: Eric Decker snares Sebastian Janikowski’s low kickoff out of the air, returning it to the 36-yard line. On first-and-10, Kyle Orton is sacked by Rolando McClain. It’s a loss of nine. On second-and-19, Orton is in the shotgun. He drops back and has plenty of time to fire downfield to Jabar Gaffney, who dives to the ground to come away with the first down — a 22-yard reception to the 49-yard line in Denver territory. On the ensuing first down, Orton tries to find Brandon Lloyd, who is tightly covered — a little too tight, as Oakland is called for pass interference, giving Denver a first down at the Oakland 27-yard line.
Q3 13:43: Orton drops back and gets the pass to Knowshon Moreno out of the backfield, and the back sprints 27 yards for his second touchdown catch of the afternoon. Prater’s extra point is good.
RAIDERS 38, BRONCOS 14
Q3 13:31: After Prater’s kickoff was fielded for a touchback, there’s a little miscommunication with the Raiders offense, as Jason Campbell throws short as his receiver sprints deep downfield. The incompletion makes it second-and-10, and there’s a Raider down after the play.
Q3 13:30: On second down, Campbell scrambles to his right, firing downfield for his fullback Marcel Reece, who leaps in the air to come away with a fairly impressive reception for a first down. It’s a 19-yard gain. A Raider and a Bronco are down after the play — Louis Murphy and Perrish Cox. Both players are able to stand up and walk to the sideline under their own power.
Q3 13:03: On first-and-10 at his own 39-yard line, Campbell pitches to Darren McFadden, who finds a lot of room to his left and picks up 19 yards on the run. On the ensuing first down, Campbell again hands off to MFadden, but the back is tripped up by Mario Haggan in the backfield this time around. That makes it second-and-12, and McFadden takes a carry yet again, this time picking up 3 yards. Now third-and-9, Campbell is in the shotgun. He takes the snap and fires deep for Nick Miller, who hauls it in on the left sideline behind Cassius Vaughn for a 32-yard gain. It sets up first-and-goal at the 9-yard line, but the Raiders are hit with a delay of game penalty.
*INJURY UPDATE* Perrish Cox has a head injury and his return is questionable.
Q3 9:48: McFadden takes a handoff on first down, and is taken down after a yard by Marcus Thomas. On second-and-goal at the 13, Campbell is in the shotgun. He scrambles to his right before throwing a pass out of bounds, but there’s a flag on the Raiders for holding, making it second-and-goal from the 23-yard line.
Q3 8:58: Campbell fakes a throw before handing off to McFadden on a draw play, and the back eludes defenders to the 7-yard line. It’s a 16-yard gain, and it’s now third-and-goal. Campbell is in the shotgun, and he gets it out to Jacoby Ford, who is brought down by Marcus Thomas at the 1-yard line. On fourth-and-goal, the Oakland offense is still on the field, but the Raiders call a timeout — their first of the second half.
Q3 7:33: Reece takes the carry on fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line, plunging into the end zone for a touchdown. Sebastian Janikowski’s extra point is good.
RAIDERS 45, BRONCOS 14
Q3 7:32: On first down, Moreno picks up a chunk of yards on a reception, but Denver is penalized for illegal use of hands to the face. Now first-and-20 at the 10-yard line, Orton is sacked at the 2-yard line. Second-and-28 brings a pass from Orton out of the shotgun. Gaffney can’t quite haul it in at about the 25-yard line. That brings up third-and-28, and Orton is again in the shotgun. He buys time in teh pocket, completing a pass to Gaffney well short of the first down. Britton Colquitt is in to punt from his own end zone on fourth-and-18. His kick is fielded at about the 32-yard line, and Nick Miller brings it out to the 43-yard line. It’s a 56-yard punt from Colquitt.
Q3 5:28: On the first play of the drive, McFadden takes a carry 57 yards for a touchdown — his fourth of the day. Janikowski’s extra point is up and in.
RAIDERS 52, BRONCOS 14
Q3 4:26: After a touchback, Orton’s pass on first down is an incompletion intended for Brandon Lloyd. On second down, the signal caller finds Eddie Royal, who breaks a tackle before being swarmed by Raiders after a 3-yard gain. On third-and-7 at the 23-yard line, Orton throws toward Royal but the pass falls incomplete, and Colquitt is in to punt. His punt rolls out of bounds at the 32-yard line.
Q3 3:46: Two Michael Bush runs net 9 yards, and the back takes another carry on third down to pick up another first down. On first-and-10 at the 43-yard line, Bush picks up 3 yards. On second down, Campbell connects with his tight end, Zach Miller, for 17 yards and another first down in Denver territory. The next play brings a deep pass from Campbell to the end zone, and Cassius Vaughn is called for pass interference in the end zone, giving Oakland a first-and-goal at the 1-yard line. Michael Bush finishes off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Janikowski’s extra point splits the uprights.
RAIDERS 59, BRONCOS 14
Q3 0:27: Janikowski’s extra point bounces out of the back of the end zone for a touchback, and the Broncos start at their own 20. Orton is sacked on first down for a loss of 10 yards. That brings the third quarter to a close.
Q4 15:00: On second down, Orton throws an interception but there are two flags on the play — offsides on the Raiders and a facemask penalty on Eddie Royal. The offsides penalty negates the interception, but the penalty yardage is still marked off for the facemask. That makes it second-and-25 at the 5-yard line. Orton throws incomplete to Moreno. On third-and-25, Orton is hit in the end zone as he releases his pass, which flies over the head of Eric Decker for an incompletion. Colquitt prepares to punt out of the back of his own end zone. The kick is fielded at the 34-yard line and returned just into Denver territory at about the 49-yard line. It’s a 61-yard punt.
Q4 14:14: Kyle Boller is now in at quarterback for the Raiders. Rock Cartwright takes two consecutive carries for a net of 5 yards. On third-and-5, Boller scrambles and fumbles, but it’s recovered by the Raiders. Shane Lechler is in to punt with Syd’Quan Thompson back to receive at his own 10-yard line. The punt bounces high in the air and is downed at the 1-yard line.
Q4 11:59: On first down, Moreno takes a carry up the middle for 3 yards. Second-and-7 brings a handoff to Moreno for 6 more yards, but the back is stopped for no gain on third down. Colquitt is in to punt from his own end zone. He boots it to about the opposite 40-yard line, and there’s a flag on the field for holding on the Raiders, tacking on 10 yards to the 52-yard punt. The Raiders offense takes over at its own 28-yard line.
Q4 10:03: On first down, Kyle Boller fakes a handoff before running a naked bootleg to his right for a gain of 15. Rock Cartwright picks up 10 more yards on the ensuing play. Boller rolls to his right on the next play, but has to slide when Jason Hunter is there ready to make the tackle. It’s a loss of four. Second-and-14 brings a handoff to Reece, who picks up 5 yards. Now third-and-9, Boller hands off to Cartwright, who is hit hard by Jamal Williams short of the first down. Lechler is in to punt and Thompson is again back to receive. This time the punt flies into the end zone for a touchback, but there’s a flag on the play — holding on the Broncos, pushing the ball back to the 10-yard line.
Q4 6:54: Moreno is brought down in the backfield on first down. There’s a flag on the play — unnecessary roughness on the Raiders, giving the Broncos 15 yards and a first down. On the ensuing play, Orton fires deep downfield for Brandon Lloyd, who hauls in the 46-yard completion. On the next first down, Moreno takes another carry, this time picking up 9 yards. Second-and-1 at the 22-yard line brings a 13-yard run by Moreno to bring up first-and-goal at the 9-yard line. Moreno gets the ball again on the next play, spinning his way to the 1-yard line.
Q4 4:03: Moreno can’t quite get in on second-and-goal, making it third-and-goal at the 1-yard line. Orton’s pass is tipped on third down, making it fourth-and-goal. The offense is still on the field. Orton drops back into the shotgun and tries to find Gaffney, but the pass falls incomplete and Oakland takes over at its own 1-yard line.
Q4 3:22: Boller picks up 2 yards on a quarterback sneak, then hands off to Reece for a 14-yard gain and a first down. That brings the game to the two-minute warning.
Q4 2:00: On first down, Cartwright takes a handoff but is brought down by Hunter behind the line of scrimmage. As the clock winds down, Boller takes a knee on second down and again on third down to bring the game to a close. The fall, 59-14, to bring their record to 2-5. A trip to London to take on the 1-6 San Francisco 49ers is up next.

Coach said “uncompetitive” the ONLY way to be that is by quitting. I had never seen a team quit before yesterday, and yesterday everyone quit. HOW ASHAMED I AM RIGHT NOW.
I will write again only because it speaks volumes about this coach and his GM Brian Xanders 4 -13 in last 17 games.
roncoguy you said what I was going to say, all the talent McD has traded away finally caught up to us. I know what happened yesterday was not entirely due to letting all those guys go but they all are doing very well with their new teams. I had found piece with most of these trades because there was nothing that could be done about it. Actually Hillis made me the most mad especially with the garbage running game we have right now but I bet each one of these players are laughing their butts off at the Broncos right now.
I have had it with McD and X. A change is needed. I am a loyal Bronco fan and season ticket holder and will always be there for my team, I even watched the whole game yesterday, both not to give up on them and because it was like a bad car wreck, gruesome but impossible to look away!
Let’s see he has gotten rid of at least 2 strong really good players each year so that means what Champ and Dawk for next year.
sorry ment vabroncoguy, don’t know how I did that.
Let me retort the one poster who had the gall to try to defend what happened ont he field as something that can happeno n “any given Sunday” since 1960 it has not happened. In all the years they have played no team has given up like that on the field. Please do not give me that rubbish about who was starting on defense. It was all McD’s players. They are the players HE wanted. Hill was getting run over out there. Haggans is McD’s guy. So much so that we didn’t draft Orakpo. Dawkins would not have helped, because he has gotten old at 37. He has been getting beat on pass coverage all year, when he is not getting hurt as a 37 year old would. Champ was already playing hurt and should not have been on the field late period. He was smart enough to know he has to play again next week, so don’t do more damage to yourself. Are you kidding me about veteran leadership. That has nothing to do with actually playing. The Raiders have young safeties in Branch and Huff, not vets. They have young corners, and Nhamdi is not vocal, he just plays. We knew the D-Line was garbage last year, and McD said we were “just fine” and that he “likes the players we have” Who have given us a total of ZERO sacks on the line. Martindale was supposed to bring this ATTACKING, differnce making defense to the board, uhhhhh…we are ranked 30th in defense. McD is supposed to be an offensive GENIUS but we are 5th in YARDS and 20th in scoring the ball. People were talking bad about the Raiders who lost all their games this year by 8 points or less. Who McD praised as fast, big and physical. DO people say that about us. Our coach can’t figure out to keep Thomas from returning kicks. He got killed in one game and fumbled the next. But since he was not drafted by Shanny he is fine. Remember Hillis was placed in the doghouse be cause he “fumbled” . This team is a DIRECT byproduct of McD not knowing what he is doing. He drafts poorly, develops players poorly, schemes poorly, prepares poorly, behaves poorly, deals with the players POORLY. I have not found one coaching “strength” this guy has. For him to be such a genius, why is it that New England hasn’t missed a friggin beat without him. They are 5-1 playing with ALL young guys on D. Starting rookies at corner, 2nd year backers. There is no VETERAN leadership over there. Kansas City is winning with young guys like McCluster and Arenas and the RB (just can’t think of his name because I am INCENSED). THey are young on defense. They just pick young talented impact guys. That’s right I said TALENTED. Dez Bryant is better than Thomas and he is making a REAL impact. Honestly THomas had one good HALF against the Seaducks that’s it. Tebow has honestly done NADA. (his fault or not) Moreno is a flat out dancing machine, but not a good back. He got lots going when the game was over and the Raiders were in a umberella coverage. Are receivers are not game changers. The Raiders played them in cover 1 all game. Why, because no one fears those guys. Pittsburgh was forced to double Marshall ALL GAME. He is a true talent. We are not al right at WR like people keep saying. The OL has regressed so much since McD got here. Harris and Clady were considered two of the best before him, now Harris isn’t starting and Clady is getting penalized. We have NO pass rush. All our scaks happen 7-8 seconds after the ball is snapped. All coverage sacks and not many of those. Campbell didn’t even have to wash his white jersey after the game. I said after the Jets game that this team did not play well, the Jets played poorly, I got bashed. We are by far the worst team in the AFC West. If you think our defense will be able to contain the Chargers, I would like to sell you some oceanfront Arizona real estate. If you think we will stop KC, I would ask you to put the bottle down. The Raiders already know what they can do to us. Please note, that although 1-6 the Niners play good defense, and can runthe ball. I would like to apologize to England in advance for sending such a poor product over there. I will make a prediction Wednesday, but best believe I feel our season going 5-11 at best.
let me be clear…that was mostly for Stevecan2….not to call you out…but I was ambiguous in who I was referring to.
10-13. in the last 23 games.
After a good nights sleep….the loss hurts even more. That was complete garbage.
Wink needs to be fired today for sure. Mcd after the season ends.
Mcd’s only real hope on having a job in Denver next year is to have Tim tebow start and win games. Since the day we drafted tebow I knew mcd’s fate was tied to his.
vabroncoguy I agree with you completely. Thank you. I too feel the season is all but over and changes need to take place. To still think there is a chance for a decent season after yesterday I think we would all agree it would take more than a miracle.
I don’t want to put blame on any current starter and that would not be fair.
However, I would like to try and think that drafting Tebow, Thomas, Decker, SydQuan and others actually had a purpose. Particularly Tebow. If he was drafted to be the future, start him now and let him get game experience the RIGHT way, not the moronic, one-dimensional, no sense swamp package.
Should he perform at the heralded level, Orton can backup or be traded for D talent, and start all the young talent. Use the remainder of this embarrassment of a season to prepare a younger, faster and more physical team for next year.
I hope JMAC woke up sick this morning, because I know all of Bronco Nation was. I wonder what Mr. B is saying about this one.
We NEED a new coach. That type of embarrassment is unacceptable. I have been trying to give McD the benefit of doubt but now my patience is totally gone. Looks like us Broncos fans are going to have to wait a few more years for this ship to be on course again. Thanks McD. Your “my way or the highway” mentallity is really paying off genious. Absolute garbage. Mr. Rice had a recent blog saying the Broncos were at a “cross roads.” Now we are at the bottom of the garbage dump, right under the dirty diapers. I don’t even now how to justify wasting my valuable time blogging about this team that I love, because they just showed us that they really don’t care. The coaches, the team, and the organization. BLAAAAAHHHHHH.
VA,
I was at the game yesterday. It was my long overdue first time at a game. I could’ve stomached a loss, but losing like THAT was one of the cruelest twists of fate I have ever experienced. That being said, I still have the clarity to understand that one person doesn’t lose a game that badly. It takes everybody doing their jobs as poorly as they can. Sure the responsibility should rest on McDaniels, Orton and the leaders on defense, and it does. If McDaniels loses his job, and we bring in someone who can give us more success, I’m all for it. But the likely scenario is that another guy will come in, not go to the playoffs his first year and you all will be calling for his head, just like you’ve been doing since the end of last season.
All I ask of you is to stop pretending that you understand what it takes to be an NFL coach. I could really care less what experience you have playing or coaching little league or whatever it is that you think makes you qualified. If critics can say that Tim Tebow, arguably the best player in college history, can’t transfer his skills to the NFL, that should illustrate how different a game it is at that level. If you honestly think you can pin that beat down solely on one man, then you are sadly mistaken and it makes me wonder if you’ve ever even played a team sport. I’m not defending McDaniels here. By his own admission he did about as terrible a job as a coach can do. But he didn’t fumble the ball twice or throw any interceptions. The TEAM lost, and it has little to do with draft, trades or any of that. The worst teams in the NFL don’t even lose that bad. What happened was a meltdown, plain and simple. I’m thoroughly disgusted by it. The city of Denver doesn’t deserve a game like that taking place in our stadium. I’m just saying you’re not a NFL coach, and you’ll never know what it’s like to coach a team to victory in the NFL. Your two cents is worth far less, based on what you wrote today.
I hear ya loud and clear VA and agree with u….
That crap was so horrible i didnt finish the game (if u can call it down). Point blank, the team paniced and didnt know what to do after the 21-0 start in first 5 mins, they just looked unprepared for the worst and it was very ugly. I will However say it was a FLUKE game. How bad we played and how good the raiders looked. That doesnt change the fact that it still happened but we all know the raiders are not that good. We are just inconsistent and pretty much gave up. It was around this time last year we started to fall remember, after 6-0….well yesterday was the 7th game and we looked figured out like last year. I agree with VA about McDs rookie draft. Shanny woulda done better because he understood that all that was REALLY BAD was the defense. Ive always said it, whether people liked to believe it, there was always alot of Shanny guys and McD guys going on. He did’t want to win with what he inherited, he just rather win with what he could take full credit for was the way I always saw it. Yesterday was pathetic, I have never seen such a ridiculous spectacle in my life, people should be fired because of yesterday alone. All I can say is START TEBOW. Why? Cuz I truly believe this season is LOST and if he is to be the future he needs game experience and if it doesnt look good at least we know what we have going into next year. I pretty much turned off the tv when I saw Orton come back in the second half. Everyone knows I think Marshall is the best thing since sliced bread and he should never have been traded. I agree that our recievers are not feared, they only put up those numbers because we couldn’t run and because of the system. I do however believe Thomas WILL be good IF HE ONLY FOCUSES ON BEING A WR…that KR sh*t makes no sense when u have other talented and fast rookies that can do the same thing. Last year we knew we should dedicate draft to D … we didn’t this year we wanted to focus more on Oline (especially LG/C) and front 7 (because we didnt the previous year) and instead of going for the best, we went for, should be good enough…..
BBR
You are saying the same thing. McDaniels put the team together, chose the same players that fail, coached and “prepared” the same players that screwed up, hired the staff HE trusted…. I could go on but u get the point…It starts from the top and yes drafts and trades have alot to do with not having the Key players we need IMO. What happened yesterday should NEVER happen to a proffesional team and its up to the coach to make sure it doesn’t, plain and simple.
BBR let me first start by saying your opinion of me means as much to me as the game the Broncos played Sunday. I am entitled to my opinion…if it hurts you, it’s probably because it is true. I have and currently do play and coach football. HAve since I was 5. But I even talk to people who have not or have no clue to the inner workings of the game that know how this team has been decimated, how McD is not preparing this team for victory, and how for the most part, a talented team has been destroyed. You ask that I stop “pretending” to know what it takes to be an NFL coach, I am asking that McD do the same thing. Sure McD didn’t fumble, or throw the interception, but he placed all the pieces there that did. He may not have lit the match, but he sure did pour gasoline on the building and leave a blowtorch burning near it. Players were ill prepared. Thomas played in an option system in GT for four years, you know how many carries he got…I’ll give you a hint ZERO. You know how often he returned kicks? Uhhhh NEVER. but suddenly, the coach, who of course I have no idea of being, decides it is a good idea to place him in those positions in the NFL. Suddenly this team, can not stop anyone, cannot pressure anyone and cannot score. If your company is going bankrupt and the management team does nothing to turn it around, who gets the blame. Especially when you FIRED all of your TOP PERFORMERS to bring in guys who will work in your “system”. The game on Sunday was a result of the systematic destruction of this team perpetuated by McD and Xanders. There is no need for me to have been a coach to know that 4-13 in your last 17 games, does not show that your team is improving, it shows quite the opposite. Being demolished at home by 45 does not mandate me being a NFL to see that there is a problem. Any CASUAL observer of the game can see that there is a philosophical and physical problem with the Broncos. Who is responsible for the teams philosophies both offensive and defensive. who is responsible for the physical preparedness of the team? Why does it make sense, on a team already torn apart by inuries, to expose your starters to further injury in a game you clearly were not going to win? Does that take knowledge as a NFL coach to determine? What knowledge as a head coach did McD have? This on-the-job training is unfair to each of the fans, season ticket holders and anyone in this economy who spends their money to support this team. Sir, I have coached on EVERY level but professional and admit that the only reason I haven’t coached on that level is because of life circumstances. SO please do not test my knowledge of the game. You can disagree, and I respect that, but to take personal shots, makes you look as foolish as McD and HIS team.
va, that’s just how B&R rolls, he has done it in the past with me all the time, I’ve tried to bring up his nasty ways of going at things personally many times but to no avail, so I just let it roll off my back. Once a while he does try to be nice with me though, you can tell it takes a real effort, if you don’t like McD he doesn’t like you, that’s it, all hot under the collar. Glad you are speaking your mind va, we need you here more often, I can use all the help I can get, LOL.
VA,
That wasn’t any more of a personal shot at you than your post to StevenCan2
VA: ” let me be clear…that was mostly for Stevecan2….not to call you out…but… I just did”
Baylin,
I really think you ignore MOST of the positive stuff I say to you. If you didn’t you’d realize it’s probably 50/50 as far as arguing or agreeing goes. I just call it exactly like I see it. And you direct statements at other posters as well. You try to make it more general, but it’s still the exact same thing. The VA post was me playing by VA’s rules and if that’s the most disgruntled I ever get then I won’t be losing any sleep at night.
playing by my rules huh…well if you look at my post I said let me retort to the poster….I then went back and continued my dialogue, and I clearly said I was not calling him out, but I was ambiguous in my reference and I as a man wanted to be clear. I never personally attacked him his knowledge or his opinion. I just countered his arguement. That is all. Furthermore, if he had a problem, he should have said something, you are not the official blog police.
No, that’s my job, LOL.
VA,
You know what. I have to apologize. There’s a saying that you hate most iin others what you see in yourself. Your posts have been infuriating to me for awhile. Someone gets on there and tries to say something positive and you counter them with facts that support the negative. And after taking a hard look at things, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. The only difference is someone says something negative and I end up countering them with facts that support the positive.
I didn’t understand why Baylin kept telling me to cool down or saying that I was “overkill” with my arguments. What I said to you was out of line VA, aside from that I’ve only spent my brief time on this blog doing what you do: forming fact-based counter arguments. Sometimes Baylin felt like he was being dissected and I felt like I was just having fun. Now I understand where he’s coming from. I innacurately pegged you as hostile just because you’d mention another poster as you made a legitimate counterpoint, and I made further mistakes countering your “hostility” with actual hostility. It was childish, and I can’t aplogize enough. I understand that flying off the handle like I did discredits any good arguments I make.
I didn’t sign up for this to make enemies or be the blog police. I got on here to have fun and engage in discussion with my fellow Bronco fans (and yes that does mean arguing sometimes, I just have to go about it respectfully like you’ve always done, VA). I apologize to you, Baylin, and all the posters who’ve been doing this for awhile for my disrespect in that 12:13 post. It will not happen again.
BB&R
You all want Cutler back? He sucks he threw 4 ints!
