KICKOFF: Matt Prater’s kick goes for a touchback and the Raiders will start at their own 20.
Q3 12:31 After a first down pass to Jacoby Ford, two short runs bring up third-and-nine for Oakland. Jason Campbell’s pass is incomplete over the middle for Brandon Myers and Shane Lechler is in to punt to Eric Decker. Decker fields the punt from his own 10 and returns it 90 yards down the right sideline for the score. Decker leaps into the crowd after giving the crowd a mile-high salute. And Prater’s PAT is up and good.
RAIDERS 16, BRONCOS 10

Q3 10:53 Campbell completes to Marcel Reece on first down off of play action and he is dropped by Wesley Woodyard after a 4 yard gain. McFadden runs up the gut for 3 yards on second down. A flag is thrown before the snap on McFadden for a false start. That brings up third-and-8 and Oakland calls a timeout.

Knowhson Moreno picks up 9 yards on a first down run and on second down, Willis McGahee reaches forward for a first down after a short gain. After the play a personal foul flag is thrown on Rolando McClain and Denver picks up an extra 15 yards. Ball on the Oakland 45-yard line.
Q3 4:45 Orton’s first down pass is dropped by McGahee. On second down Orton can’t find anyone open and he throws it away. Faced with third-and-10, Orton fires a pass to Daniel Fells but it falls incomplete. Two flags are thrown however, and Denver accepts a 15-yard penalty for roughing the passer. Ball now on the Oakland 30-yard line with 1st-and-10.
Q3 1:55 Moreno runs for no gain on first down. On second down, Orton hits Moreno out of the backfield and Moreno jukes out two defenders and sprints down to the 6-yard line. First-and goal and McGahee fights for one yard. On second-and-goal Orton tries to hit Brandon Lloyd on a quick slant but it’s incomplete. On third-and-goal, Orton lines up in the shotgun and is sacked by Richard Seymour for a 7-yard loss. Prater’s 30-yard field goal is good.
RAIDERS 16, BRONCOS 13
Q3 1:54 Prater’s kick goes for a touchback and Oakland starts at the 20.

On third-and-12, Campbell’s throw is incomplete for Moore. Lechler is in to punt. Decker hauls it in and is taken down at the Denver 46 after a 10 yard return.

Q4 14:11 On first down from the Raider 47-yard line, Orton fires complete to Decker who breaks free for a 23-yard gain. There is an injured Raider down on the field. The injured Raider was Chris Johnson and we walks off the field. Orton fumbles the ball on the next play and Oakland takes over at their own 35-yard line.
Q4 12:37 On first down, Campbell completes to Heyward-Bey over the middle for 17 yards. On second down, McFadden runs right finds a hole and sprints down to the 1-yard line. Before Oakland can snap the ball, Denver calls a timeout.

On first down, Orlando Franklin is called for holding.
Q4 9:39 On first-and-20, Orton throws deep for Matt Willis incomplete but there are two flags on the play — both on the Raiders. Orton’s second-down pass for Julius Thomas is incomplete. On third-and-19, Orton’s pass intended for Decker over the middle is incomplete. Q4 7:39 On first down, McFadden runs right and is upended by Woodyard for a short gain. On second down, Campbell’s deep pass down the right sideline for Heyward-Bey is incomplete. On third-and-9, Campbell hands it off to McFadden who is held short of the first down. Lechler punts it deep to Decker, who lets the ball bounce into the end zone for a touchback after a 77-yard punt.
Q4 5:37 On first down, Orton’s pass is incomplete but offsides is called on Oakland. On first-and-five, Orton’s pass is complete to Fells buts it’s called back for holding on Chris Kuper. On first-and-15, Moreno runs up the middle on a draw and picks up 9. Orton’s pass for Willis is incomplete on second down. On third-and-six, Orton hits McGahee who fights forward for first-down yardage. Orton then throws incomplete in the direction of Eddie Royal. On second down, Orton fires incomplete for McGahee. On third-and-10, finds Royal for a new set of downs.
Q4 4:29 Orton hits Decker for another first on a quick pass. With first-and-10 at the Oakland 36, hits Willis for a 6-yard gain. On second-down, Orton hits Decker down the sideline for a 15-yard gain. Ball at the 15-yard line.
Q4 4:25 Oakland is called for offsides on first down, bringing up 1st-and-5 at the 10-yard line. Orton’s pass is incomplete intended for Royal, bringing up second down.
Q4 3:43 On second down, Orton completes to McGahee for a one yard gain. On third-and-four, Orton hits Lance Ball for a 9-yard touchdown pass over the middle. Prater’s PAT is good.

Q4 2:05 On second-and-8, Campbell completes to Heyward-Bey for a first down. On first down, Bush carries for a short gain and Denver calls their final timeout.
Q4 2:00 On second-and-8, Bush picks up a first down running right for 12 yards.

You have my condolences strandoftds. LOL!
I`m not upset over the wall of shame. What I`m flipped out over is the holding penaltys we had. Gosh, how many was there against us? Totally uncalled for.
I honestly believe that anyone that picked the Broncos to win that game should be on the wall of shame. We were the ones that bought into the stuff that we were being fed about Orton being so much better, blah, blah, blah…
A spade is a spade, right, Orton is a indian statue.
Moreno still stinks.
Utilize your strengths. Put Tim Tebow in when inside the 10 yardline. We deserved to lose last night. Bad play calling. After no drives when running the ball in the first qaurter, throw the darn ball.
1 Step closer to 1 pick in april, QB, OL, and RB. Then we can pick in the 30′s
If we`re the #1 pick we draft Luck. The Broncos aren`t going to use Tebow, are you kidding me. At this rate we are going to lose every single game.
Orton and Romo sure look alike on the field, choking at the wrong moment. The only difference between the two is off the field Romo is like a rockstar and Orton an ugly kid joe. Major choke artists none of the less.
The Broncos can’t afford to play Tebow. If they play him and he is even slightly successful, there goes their plans to draft a “pocket” QB. If he gets the fan base fired up or his team mates fired up, same thing. Get use to Orton and Quinn, most likely for the year. This is all about next year’s draft, not this year’s games, the fans, or anything else.
strand, It became very apparent last night what our plans for Tebow and Quinn are for this year. The only other explanation for last night and not using either one of them in any of the red zone offenses or any other time was that Fox and company wanted to just see what Orton was capable of doing. I do hope that their questions were answered. Now this we all know. If this same thing happens like this next wee, then our questions will be answered. That being that they have no intention of using Tebow or Quinn in any kind of package what-so-ever. And with that knowledge, it will be a very, very, long season for sure.
I do hate saying this, but I knew we were screwed on the first possession when Orton froze up inside the 15 yard line after Miller made a fantastic play to get us the ball back. That in itself was the handwriting on the wall.
What a surprise Orton played terrible. Oh but he gives us the best chance to win. Yeah right. Again we have 2 seasons of tape on this pathetic pile of garbage, and because John Fox said 2 + 2 = 5 everybody thinks Tebow = bad Kyle = good. TAKE THE REDPILL! Orton is what he always has been a guy whose hates contact. You play him like a rookie QB with lots of pressure and he crumbles like a cookie. I DISLIKE JOHN FOX!!! Thank you losers for making me suffer thru another year of this garbage!! If Tebow played like Orton last night he would be ran out of town, but all the parrots are going to give Orton a pass and blame the line. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he is going to perform like this what is the point of playing him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to find out what Tebow can do. Give him a chance. WHAT ARE YOU SCARED OF (I’m talking to you EFX)?
Scared of losing? Scared of turnovers? FOX is an not very bright person who rolled with a lame Jake deholmme for far too long. He was dumb enough to draft Jimmy Clausen. Had started a 44 year Vinny Testerverde for a game, and used a washed up Brian St. Pierre in a start last year with less than a week of practice. I’m calling you out Mr. FOX. . I CAN’T TAKE ANYMORE OF THIS STUPIDITY!!!!! WAKE UP BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!! Orton is a coach killer, and Mr. FOX is going to find out soon enough. FOX PLEASE END THIS MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!
About the game, I got all my notes, but I’m debating if I even need to go there, so maybe the main overview will do:
-ORTON, what can I say I haven’t already said all off season, he is exactly who I thought he was, it seems as if, along with sndvl and a handful of others, Fox is the only one in the building who doesn’t know it yet, and that makes no sense at all because he said he was interested in a gamer, not a good practice player, got your answer yet Fox? You think?
Whatever, that was a sickening quarterbacking display if I ever saw one.
-Even so the O line didn’t help protecting Orton, it was just as bad as it was all last year, zero improvement there, and we were worried we had no depth on the O line, what a joke, our starters have no depth, Kuper and Franklin held all day, that’s the only way they could match up with the Raiders front 4, pathetic it was.
-And of course that meant no running game to speak of, just like last year, deja vu all over again on O, same thing, different year.
D is improved in some ways, they are just hard to find, not glaring you must say:
-Pass rush inexistant, what was supposed to be our new signature D was AWOL mainly because the Raiders and Campbell could run it on us at will.
-DT? So Fox thinks we can do ok neglecting the DT position, I said I would give him a chance to show me and I saw all I needed to see, it’s not working Fox, you passed so many opportunities to shore up the DTs this season I can have absolutely no compassion for where you are finding yourself in that regard now. Be careful what you wish for!
-LBs, who are they? Still the worse bunch of LBs in the league, with Miller the exception to be.
-Safety, the one man show, Dawk can still do it against the run, but coverage at safety, none of them covered anything except back up Bruton once basically.
-CBs? Bailey has still got it, but he always did, same as Dawk in the run game, so nothing new, his foot tackles were superb but what have we got after that, Goodman who can’t tackle a dummy, and the rest were pretty much absent from the screen since Campbell didn’t even need to really go to the pass much.
-Other good things: Colquitt was awesome, so was Decker and that’s about it, not really, there was more to build on, but you get my drift.
In conclusion it was an absolutely horrible football game with both sides commiting a comedy of errors, and we won that battle, and the penalty flags were flying with basically each play. Hard to watch. Just like I said all off season, the majority of the good teams from last year will remain good and the majority of the bad teams will remain so, like us, the short off season will be our #1 enemy all year and it showed.
Just look at what the opener between the Packers and Saints looked like next to our Bronco Raider game, DIFFERENT LEAGUES, that’s what it looked like, at this point we do not belong, simple as that.
Get to work EFX! DTs? Orton? Resolving those two question marks would be a start.
Here is my take on everything. Orton didn’t play well, I’m an Orton fan and I can say that. However, if you are going to blame the game on Orton then you are just a fairweather fan hoping for Tebow. It’s embarrassing. No real fan was in the stands booing Orton and chanting for Tebow. I mean are you kidding me? All I hear is how everyone has faith in the new regime with Fox and Elway. By booing you are basically saying that they made the wrong decision, and less than 3 quarters into the season? Cmon.
Running backs missed some holes, Goody missed a big tackle, we had some awful holding calls, punt blocked, who knows how many dropped passes. To say this was on Orton is laughable.
All I know is I blame this all on McDaniels. By drafting Tebow and having the “fans” turn into whiny brats, he ruined my Broncos experience. I use to love the fact that I rooted for a team that had a good head on its shoulders, never had any bullsh!t within the organization, true fans of the team and the city. Now we are no better than any other crappy fairweather city that just wants to be right and blame everything on someone.
I know I’m just rambling, but last nights game made me sick. Seriously, if you were on tv chanting Tebow and highfiving your friend, go screw yourself. The fact you call yourself a fan makes me want to throw up.
Go Broncos, I still love you, I’ll be there til the end….
Curt
Orton makes me want to puke!!!!!!
I was having a lot better fun time when STUDESVILLE was the Head Coach!!!!
Studs is the only coach on our team with enough balls to put the right QB in the game!!!!!
I am just disgusted with Mike McCoy and his glorified version of McD’s offensive offense!!!!!
ORTON AND MCCOY ARE DUDS AND THEY HAVE BEEN FOR TWO YEARS AND ONE GAME NOW!!!!! UUUUUGGGGH!!!! Why can’t Elway see this???!!!!
Orton and McCoys offense is picking up right where McD left off and I want to pick up our offense where Studesville and Tebow left off last year!!!!!!! We have regressed back to the McDaniels offense!!!!!!Duh….:(why??
All the upper-ups are soo worried about “winning from the pocket” they all overlooked how ugly and painfull it is to LOSE FROM THE POCKET!!!!!!!! (ORTON IS NEVER GOING TO BE TOM BRADY!) (Our O line is never going to pass protect like NE!!!!)
We need a “Gamer” in the QB position, FOX!!!!!!! Eat your own words coach!!!!! sheesh…Whatever….like I’ll believe your “transparency” ever again….
Our only hope for a winning season now is for Elway to FIRE MIKE MCCOY and promote Studesville to OC and play Tebow!!!!!!!
IT IS TIME FOR TEBOW TO PLAY!!!!! It’s already a lost cause with the current arrangement of QB and OC….. Dud and Dudlier!!!
ILMSDB…..
Also remember the bomb thrown to Lloyd that should have been pass interference? The CB was all over Lloyd and didn`t even turn around and make a play for the ball, remember that? If we were on defense for that very play, there would have been a flag on the field. I hate bias calls by the refs.
strand if you are going the ref excuse way you are barking at the wrong tree, we have way bigger fish to fry, LOL.
OC, check out the contest’s results near the bottom of the last page, it will make you feel better, and CurtOU, don’t, it might make you feel worse, LOL.
Yes, I’m aware that I made a bad pick. More of a hope pick, but you can’t deny the whining and complaining and booing is a joke right? Cmon, you can’t deny that.
Just a sloppy game all around.
The Tebow chants are only going to get louder as the season progresses. Tebow would’ve been our leading rusher with 2 TDs if he’d been in last night.
How can anyone be an Orton fan? A guy that falls down in the face of the slightest pressure. A guy that made fun of Tebow at practice for giving 110 % during sprints. A guy with a me first attitude and acts like he is Tom Brady. A guy with a LOWER preseason passing rating than TEBOW. Orton is pathetic and any game where the opposing defense has the brains to bring pressure will result in last night’s Orton. I would rather watch B. Lloyd line up under center than watch another game with ORTON. PLEASE EFX END THIS MADNESS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I want Cutler, Marshall, Hillis, and Scheffler back. Thanks McD.
Curt
I think it’s more society in general personally, instant gratification society, I never knew that when I grew up, neither did the old Bronco fans, we had to work hard for everything we got, including Bronco wins, now the young generation comes in, two SB wins handed on the platter to them and the internet way, they want more under the click of the mouse right now, I don’t like it but it’s the way it is, nothing will change that, like I always said I am glad I was born when I was because thirty years from now I hate to see where that will all put us. So I’m not gonna waste my time on the fans behavior, I would rather like to try to change Fox’s mind about a few things and EX’s too, that would be more realistic.
Your right Bay, I`m just upset is all. We have a long long ways to go. IT IS WHAT IT IT!!
ooops IS!!
Orton did all the bad things in this game alone his critics have said about him for the last 7 years he’s played, so with all due respect Orton’s critics are onto something, people who keep wanting to go with Orton simply don’t want to face or see. A wake up call is needed in the front office!
I can agree with that. I don’t think I’m going to accept the behavior, I’ll just acknowledge that it is there and try to avoid it. Living in Ohio means I don’t have to hear it from random people, but I don’t think I could even stand to live in Denver and listen to it nonstop, that’s for sure.
And yes, some of these “fans” were handed greatness and don’t understand that it takes time and you have to fall down before you can get back up.
Curt
Problem is we’ve just done the falling down with McD, so Fox is in as tough a spot as any.
If this keeps up when at Mile High, the fans will turn on EFX and not show up, many empty seats in the near future.
I just want to win, if it is Tebow, that’s fine. Let’s just do the right thing. Hindsight coaching is so annoying.
Curt
Fox is old school and that isn`t a bad thing but needs to utilize his strengths. It`s not running at this time.
CurtOU,
On one side of this fence you are very correct. We as fans need to support our team, no matter what. BUT, the other side of this fence is also cotrrect in their actions. All that is seen there is another 2010, and that is not what is wanting to be seen.
What is wanting to be seen, I feel, is improvement on the problems that were so apparent last year. And after being told repeatedly during training camp that these were being addressed and were showing improvement, to sit and watch that display of ‘improvement’ last night was unbearable. The same Orton, the same O, the same D as far as run defense. And everyone has to admit that Orton’s were the most glaring, right off the bat, and continued that way the entire game.
In defense of Miller, when Doom went out injured, no one could possibly expect Miller to do it all, even though he tried his best to do that, He was all over the place involved in just about every play I saw on t.v. You also can not expect the defenser to stay on the field as long as they had to and not get worn down. Oue defense is what kept this from being a complete blow-out and at least gave Orton the opportunity to go out and try to win the game, which he couldn’t.
Could Tebow have done any better? I have no clue. We will never know because he did not get the call to go in, even in the red zone for one play.
Could Quinn have done any better? I have no clue. We will never know because he did not get the call to go in.
This seemed to be the powers decision to let Orton do this all by himself. I, like many others on here, hope that EFX saw what they needed to see and hope dearly they do something about it. A LOT of serious practice is needed this week before we go into next week or it will look a lot like this week all over again.
For the ones who follow the blog though, it’s obvious many of us have known all along Orton is not the answer in any shape or form, regardless of who else we got for QB, and have voiced that all off season, so it is not hindsight, just saying, rather it was to warn folks who cared to listen.
I thought Bunkley played well. McFadden got his yards but I don’t think our run D was nearly as bad as the numbers indicate. When we can’t keep a drive alive for more than 3 minutes, the D gets no rest and we were worn down. In fact, Vickerson and Bunkley played well in my eyes. When we got in trouble was when McBean and Urein were in the game. Depth is obviously an issue but our O did nothing to help our D last night.
It`s going to be a long tough season, no doubt.
I said it last night. We played HORRIBLE and lost by 3. I don’t think the sky is falling yet.
My concern is the injuries that piled up last night with Doom, Llyod, Moreno, and Bailey.
Llyod and Moreno heading for MRIs this afternoon
No DT`s to stop the run. So next year are we going to shun the next #1 DT in this years coming draft class. Are we regretting now not drafting a stud DT this year?!
Cinci is not at all the easy game it was pegged to be now, specially since they beat the Browns who many say is a team on the rise.
They could put Moreno on IR for all I care, he sucks bad!!!! As a matter of fact trade the guy.
I went 6-10 because I knew we have no depth and we would get injuries, that was a gimme, this is not a perfect world, there will be more too, just gotta deal with it, like all other teams.
Dalton is going to start, his injury is only probable.
We have our work cut out for us this coming weekend against Cinci. They played one heck of a game yesterday and came out on top. Like I said, we have a lot of work to do this week in practice, especially if they intend to go in with the same ‘game plan’ that they went into this game with.
Packer fans have it made for that, 15 on IR and still win the SB!
Yikes the knee jerk reactions today are plentiful. Almost impossible to discuss anything objectively from the game.
Benson has to be licking his chops after watching our run defense performance last night. I think until we can do something about it teams will continue to dominate us in the running game.
Broncos will win a few games with Orton, very few.
new bolg
If I`m Cincy, I`d run, run, run all day against the Broncos.
Yea we aren’t the Packers though. Our injuries hinder us far more than them obviously. We are rebuilding, they aren’t. Ofcourse we have to deal with it, just saying I’m more concerned on the status of 3 of our most important players than anything right now
I learned a lot about the Denver Broncos and their fans last night….I learned that Tim Tebow needs to be off this team….I learned that even a lot of the bloggers on this page which I respect a lot just talk out of their heads….I learned that this team is getting better, but Fox is paying for the mistakes of McDaniels.
I watched Orton, getting batter and bruised, hit on almost every drop because we had NO RUN GAME, and no one blocked. I saw that man stand and deliver and yes he made one, I repeat, ONE horrible mistake, (the wet ball fumble) he kept that team in the game.
I read the blog where people said Fox didn’t know what he was doing because he had Decker returning kicks…..yeah right.
We are today blaming Orton for a defense that again could not stop the run. For receivers dropping at least 5 passes. For our kicker missing a kick he makes in his sleep, for us being penalized like we were the Raiders, yet all in all we lost by 3.
What were the scores last year?
That is called improvement. That is called the first game of the year.
Calling for Tebow being divided on NATIONAL TELEVISION made our fan base look like a JOKE. I was listening to Colin and people are just clowning the behavior of the fans. You know what happended when Tebow played last year? HE LOST!!! point blank. Did Tebow have a chance to get better in the offseason YEP. Did he? NOPE. Quit hollering for Tebow and support whoever is behind the center.
Miller is a STUD, Champ is a STUD, Dawkins is flying around, but not doing a whole lot. the other linebackers omg….BUT with a patchwork defense, a new line, Goodman getting torched, Moore learning on the job, we were still in the game, driving to WIN.
The interception, that Orton threw, if people know anything about football, when faced with a cover 2 there is a window between the releasing corner and the safety. That is where Orton threw the ball, Lloyd failed to read Cover 2. Didn’t even look back.
A quarterback, who you say SICKS threw for 300 yards against a defense which KNEW all we could do was pass.
I am venting today because I feel better about this loss than any in the McD era. I feel those guys came to play and I see the team getting better. I call it as I see it. When McD went 6-0 I said, that was not a good team. This team is 0-1!!! 0 and friggin 1. It is an improwing team and I support it!
