KICKOFF: Matt Prater’s kick goes for a touchback and the Raiders will start at their own 20.
Q3 12:31 After a first down pass to Jacoby Ford, two short runs bring up third-and-nine for Oakland. Jason Campbell’s pass is incomplete over the middle for Brandon Myers and Shane Lechler is in to punt to Eric Decker. Decker fields the punt from his own 10 and returns it 90 yards down the right sideline for the score. Decker leaps into the crowd after giving the crowd a mile-high salute. And Prater’s PAT is up and good.

Faced with third-and-10, Orton fires a pass to Daniel Fells but it falls incomplete. Two flags are thrown however, and Denver accepts a 15-yard penalty for roughing the passer. Ball now on the Oakland 30-yard line with 1st-and-10.
Q3 1:55 Moreno runs for no gain on first down. On second down, Orton hits Moreno out of the backfield and Moreno jukes out two defenders and sprints down to the 6-yard line. First-and goal and McGahee fights for one yard. On second-and-goal Orton tries to hit Brandon Lloyd on a quick slant but it’s incomplete. On third-and-goal, Orton lines up in the shotgun and is sacked by Richard Seymour for a 7-yard loss. Prater’s 30-yard field goal is good.
RAIDERS 16, BRONCOS 13
Q3 1:54 Prater’s kick goes for a touchback and Oakland starts at the 20.
Q3 0:15 McFadden is sacked by Jason Hunter on first down and the ball comes loose, but Oakland falls on it to bring up second-and-long. McFadden takes the carry left for 4 yards. On third-and-12, Campbell’s throw is incomplete for Moore. Lechler is in to punt. Decker hauls it in and is taken down at the Denver 46 after a 10 yard return.
Q3 0:00 Orton completes to Moreno for an 11-yard gain and that does it for the third quarter of play.
Q4 14:11 On first down from the Raider 47-yard line, Orton fires complete to Decker who breaks free for a 23-yard gain. There is an injured Raider down on the field. The injured Raider was Chris Johnson and we walks off the field. Orton fumbles the ball on the next play and Oakland takes over at their own 35-yard line.
Q4 12:37 On first down, Campbell completes to Heyward-Bey over the middle for 17 yards. On second down, McFadden runs right finds a hole and sprints down to the 1-yard line. Before Oakland can snap the ball, Denver calls a timeout.
Q4 12:33 On first-and-goal, Campbell sneaks it in for the score. The PAT is good.
RAIDERS 23, BRONCOS 13
Q4 12:32 The kick goes for a touchback and the Broncos start at the 20.
Q4 10:39 Orton is sacked by Tommy Kelly on first down. On second-and-14, Orton finds Willis McGahee over the middle, who recovers his own fumble and picks up 12 yards. On third-and-2, Orton finds Brandon Lloyd on a slant who picks up the first down and recovers his own fumble at the end of the play. Ball now on the Denver 48-yard line. On first down, Orlando Franklin is called for holding.
Q4 9:39 On first-and-20, Orton throws deep for Matt Willis incomplete but there are two flags on the play — both on the Raiders. Denver accepts a pass interference penalty on Stanford Routt and its first-and-10 at the Denver 41-yard line. Orton is sacked by Matt Shaughnessy on first down. Orton’s second-down pass for Julius Thomas is incomplete. On third-and-19, Orton’s pass intended for Decker over the middle is incomplete. On first-and-15, Moreno runs up the middle on a draw and picks up 9. Orton’s pass for Willis is incomplete on second down. Thanks for following along. Join us again next week, when the Broncos host the Bengals.

There was such a heated Orton/Tebow debate in my section that someone got kicked out.
Freak, you’re on to something. If our O would have scored on that first turnover we could have gained some serious momentum.
My drunken post game analysis of why we lost:
1. Our run game was non existent.
2. We couldn’t stop the run
3. We failed in the red zone
4. We couldn’t stop 3rd down conversions
Sounds like the 2010 Broncos. Dejavu.
Every time we got some momentum we found a way to shoot ourselves in the foot. Red Zone efficiency still a problem. Rushing still a problem. Offensive line was terrible. Orton still can’t put a team on his back, I thought we were watching the 2010 Broncos. I’m just glad it wasn’t a blowout and I had fun for the most part at the game.
Last comments of the night…..
1. We are in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes (Oakland is a poor team)
2. I have to give another shout out to the fans. They were incrediblebly loud (how many false starts were there) and never gave up. I was proud to be a part of it.
Wow 3rd Gen we’re pretty much on the same page.
I can’t believe there are still people defending Orton. Did you not see that untouched fumble? As a team we played good enough to win. Orton failed.
All those penalties! But I think we will be a team that will be playing really good football by November. As long as we get better every week, it’
s all I can pretty much ask.
there are a lot of people blaming Orton and such…i’m not saying Orton wasn’t bad BUT….LOOk at the PLay calling!! we ran the Ball ONE time on the first drive and that didn’t work so we automatically pass on almost every play after that.!! it was like that On every drive. I don’t think we tried to run the ball back to back on Any drive we had!. Who is this Joke calling the plays. WHERE WAS DOOM! WHERE WAS MILLER!!! WTF!!! YOU KNOW WHERE THEY WERE THEY WERE FACE PLANTED ON THE GROUND ALMOST EVERY PLAY!! WE ACTUALLY GOT SAVED A LOT OF EMBARASSMENT BECAUSE OF THE PENALTIES….WE COULD HAVE EASILY LOST BY 40 50 POINTS!!!.
I blame the bronco staff for this horrible game.
1. Every team had the same time to prepare.
2. The staff should not have fell for the old (See, I look great in practice playing against my friends, trick.) Kyle Orton, Noshow Moreno.
3. Kyle Orton, and Noshow Moreno can really perform when they are playing against there own team or pre- season where none of the 1st stringers from any team are trying to hurt themselves our anyone else for that matter.
4.When a quarter back is not very mobile and not very good under pressure , what would you do as the opposing defense?
5. I am a bronco fan for life. I would rather lose with Teebow then lose with Orton & Noshow. Does anyone believe Kyle will take us to the superbowl?
better be our worst game of the season
most, of our points were because stupid penalties raiders made, keeping our drives alive. we weren’t abel to run the ball and o-line look awful.
defense wan’t that good either, we couldn’t stop them on third downs, and they ran basically over us, we didn’t got any pressure on the QB and our pass D was relatively good.
only bright spot is erick decker so far
Lets keep it real . I am way over my prime, but I think I could give the broncos fans the same results for half the price 4 million, instead of 8 million.
My advise would be bench Orton, and Noshow (limp of the field every other play) Moreno , and start building your team for the furture. There are no short cuts to rebuilding, and if there were, the bronco staff does not have a clue on how to take them.
Freak you say we coulda won if we capitlaized on the redzone chances and some other thing … 3rd agreed and listed like 4 things that were a problem today … the same things from last year.
royalfantasy, I was actually glad they stopped trying to run … they shoulda stopped earlier … and I say this because we were forcing the run so much that we would only have one down to pass … thats not a way to play. If you cannot run to set up he pass … u are gonna have to do the much harder task of passing to set the run … we realized that too later IMO … we stuck to safe runs and dumb easily readable screens … raiders ran screens too but they weren’t predictable. Also a few run plays and screens worked better once we started passing … sometiems u gotta pass to get more room to run.
Also Doom and Miller were almost non factor … why? BECAUSE THE TEAM DOESNT PASS. Did u not notice the ran on every down or threw a screen … it was runs, tosses, inside runs, draws, and screens … maybe a few reverses but those are runs too … their playbook was imaginative with it tho but it was the same thing over and over. And runs (especially draws) and screens will beat the blitz EVERY TIME.
Orton was terrible, don’t care what anyone says … they say tebow doesnt go through his reads … Orton locked in alot of times, and the few times he had time in the pocket … he couldnt find anyone. Maybe Raiders coverage was just that good. Either way Ill say it again … i rather lose with Tebow than with Orton cuz atleast Tebow will be learning and will be here past this season. But i can wait … patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait. Henne was bad in NE … but u saw alot of fight in him to try to do something … Orton on the other hand no passion … u can tell he doesn’t like to mess up but thats not the same as passion … just no fire … no way he carries this team on this back … and this team needs it since its not good enough. (not saying Tebow can carry team on his back like a Brady FTR but only one way to find out).
All I can say is the play calling was as flat and unimaginative as last year … the only difference I saw in this scheme from last year was that we utilized our TE’s better … other than that … same whackness. Which i believe comes from McCoy. TRB
The Raiders kept GIVING us the game in a hand basket, and our offense said, “NOPE NOPE NOPE”, every time.
Bench Orton for the love of god. I thought he could QB from under center???? Thats BS. Shotgun every freakin play?? Sounds like what people say about our 3rd string QB. Next man up pls. Tebow can shotgun every play for all i care it will be better than that crap we seen on national TV. Decker you are the man.
1 more thing.
I thought the defense played great for having to play 75 or 80 percent of the game. I could be Wrong but I think the Raiders only scored 2 touchdowns and 3 field goals. Subtract 3 turnovers & A blocked kick = 3
Why the 3 you say , because only 3 people have ever made a 63 yard field goal in a real NFL game. Final score= Broncos 40 Raiders 3
This McFox offense was awful!! the look very unprepared and confused a lot of the time. There was no rhythm there was no motivation, they were just walking around, and Orton just let it happen…. Zero effort to motivate the guys around him, he down graded from game manager, to embarrassing. The defense is exactly the same as it has been for the past few years… dreadful.
Play the kid, wether or not he does well, he is fun to watch and no one can disagree with that. The team demonstrated how unprepared they were, and showed problems that aren’t fixed in a week. Hopefully we can see TEBOW and enjoy watching repeat performances of tonight.
just one game we lost by three to a team that we do not match up well with because of their run style it is what it is, no crying no complaining, the fans did great plenty of false starts we will be ok, oline needs to do a better job on run blocking and orton dropping that for a fumble, it happens even the great elway had fumbles like that ball was wet not saying it did not suck cus it did but it happens next week get ready and lets just try our best to not start 0-2 and instead be 1-1
Do you know what, it is pretty simple.
Put Tebow in now. We are not going to the playoffs on that performance. Orton is gone at the end of the year anyway.
Tell Tebow if he wants a career with Denver he just better win because on that performance we are defo looking at Andrew Luck. Tebow will help us with the running game which will help open up the passing game. His passion will ignite the players and fans.
Give the kid a chance Orton is not our future so we may as well see if Tebow could be.
Another question!
What is the point of having two of the best pass rushers in the game if teams are just gonna run right through you?
Small mercy it was a Monday nite game at least I am one day closer to Sunday to see if we can reprieve ourselves. Then again the Bengals are not gt either so we winn that one it will probably give us false hope.
Can we bench Orton now please?
What a conundrum that was last night’s game was. I saw some good and some really awful. I know the hot topic today will be Kyle Orton, what can I say….he was the Kyle Orton we all know. He didn’t have a running game, was ineffective in the redzone, an INT, a fumble, and plenty of underthrown balls. It isn’t Orton’s fault we lost the game but he doesn’t look any better and he certainly doesn’t look as good as the media portrays, but I already knew that. Our D was letting the Raiders rip off good gainers and what the heck with all the slipping, but in longer cleats.
And penalties my gosh I’ll give Franklin a break, rookie and all that, but c’mon man when the o-line was letting Orton get sacked, they were killing him with penalies.
Miller nice forced fumble, Decker…Damarius who…LOL! I wanted to chant DOOOM but never saw him.
All in all it looked like it was our first football game “ever.”
I will say this though, every single time I have backed Orton he has let me down. I was rooting for him..for the most part..and then he goes and throws and INT and fumble.
U G L Y you ain’t got no aliby you ugly as someone so nicely put it last night.
I cried a little last night haha
The biggest momentum shifter…the blocked punt. Rediculous Bruton needs to stay in there an personal protect the punter.
At least try Tebow in the goaline stuff. They know Orton isn’t going to evey try running it in for a TD so they just sit back on all the routes.
If this is the same Broncos as last year, I’m definitely ready to just watch Tebow play. We all already know what Orton is going to play like.
You know that feeling when you open up Chrismtas presents and you’re expecting something awesome and you get a hand-knitted sweater from your aunt…that’s the feeling I got watching that game.
Well time to regroup, get better, and go after Cincy.
I know I’m on here by myself just throwing out all the thoughts running through my head, so sorry, just gotta get it off my chest. so my opinions are very biased right now.
I’m sure everyone is just in shock and aww about the game so I’m guessing they’re waiting until the dust settles.
I can’t believe I stayed up past 3am to watch that crap. What a horrible display of football.
I’ve backed Orton up to this point……..but I can’t any longer. Aside from his inability to score points, poor passes and his INT and fumble that led to scoring plays for the Raiders, I was more irate at how lacksidaisical he was out there. No sense of urgency, no rallying the troupes, no fire in the belly whatsoever. He was just going through the motions and seemingly conceeding the game.
And our O-line is garbage. They cannot block without holding, and cannot make any holes for the running game…….and the running game……that’s a whole other story, or lack there of.
Moreno is who I thought he was…..GARBAGE. Still can’t hold onto the football and can’t run between the tackles. McFadden made him look like a pee wee back.
And while our O showed some flashes of being great…..I think the annointment of Orange Doomsday will have to wait. They got TORCHED on the ground and they look like the D of old. And doesn’t anyone know how to tackle anymore? So many extra yards picked up from missed tackles. Dawk was the only one out there who looked like they wanted to play.
Good on Decker too…….great return and played well over all.
And in one of my last posts I was hoping for a penalty controlled game…..and we got the complete opposite. Insane and unacceptable.
If this is what we have to look forward to, and the O-line is going to get manhandled like that, then I say bring in Tebow and let him learn by playing. At least he might be able to scramble out of the pocket when it’s collapsing and make a play with his feet.
COME ON MAN!!!
God, even a night’s rest hasn’t taken the digusting tatse out of my mouth left by that pathetic effort last night.
I guess my expectations were too high…….
The 3 other bottom teams last year all give their fans something to hold on to.
Carolina throw Newton in and he performs.
Buffalo destroy Kansas.
Cincinnati throw Dalton in and they win.
If I had went to the moon last December and just got back last nite in time for the match the first thing I would have said to myself is ” I see McDaniels is still in charge”.
I havent really got involved with all this Tebow business. The facts now speak for themselves we may as well let the kid learn on the job. At least he will die trying to win for us. We have nothing to loose. We know we need a DT, we need to know do we need a QB as well.
Orton doesn’t play to win, he plays not to lose. So playing from behind is never his strong suit. Once again Orton play puts too much strain on the defense and they just don’t have the depth to be on the field for so long.
Bay is probably somewehre in the middle of the Atantic right now on his boat. He has left a note for the mail man, back sept 2012.
One other thing that really got me McBean made the same dumb mistakes and committed the same dump penalties last season he needs to go.
Its a 17 week race to the Luck sweepstakes, not need to get all your losses in the first week. LOL!!
I did accomplish not making my wife mad at me with my ranting and raving. so a win did come out of this game for me personally haha
If I had been a raider fan at the match last nite (God forbid) I would have been temped to chant to Fox
” Are you mcdaniels in disguise, are you mcdaniels are you mcdaniels are you mcdaniels in disguise”
Looks like thats the only Luck we will be getting this season.
• Kyle Orton:
“We had to settle for a field goal at first and I feel sick about that. I let the ball slip out of my hands. It was one of those deals. We fought back hard. We have a lot of stuff to clean up. Getting off to a better start is important to our team to help our defense out. It’s a matter of executing a little bit better. Any time you throw the ball 40 times or how many we did, it’s a one-deal pass rush for them.”
What the Broncos and others had to say after the Raiders’ 23-20 victory over the Broncos in Denver on Monday night…
• Champ Bailey was asked if he saw any progress with the Broncos’ defense:
“None,” he said, shaking his head. “If we don’t stop the run it’s going to be a long season.”
• Kyle Orton on the ball slipping out of his hands:
“It really never happened to me before. I feel sick about it.”
• John Fox on the play of Kyle Orton:
“All and all, like all of us, it probably wasn’t good enough.”
• Fox on Orton‘s fumble where the ball slipped from his hand:
“That was a pivotal play, no doubt.”
• Offensive lineman Chris Kuper on the booing of Orton:
“I don’t know why. If we’re not doing the job up front, no one else can do their job. We couldnt move them and establish a running game and that affected everything.”
• Von Miller on his first Raiders game:
“It was a tough, physical game. I felt like we chances and opportunities, but we didn’t take advantage. I’m sure stopping the run is No. 1 priority on our list.”
• Elvis Dumervil:
“Stopping the run is a priority every week. We fell short of our goals tonight. Got to watch the film and get ready for Cincinnati.”
• Raiders’ Jarvis Moss:
“It was fun. It was Monday night and all I wanted to do was win, coming back to Denver and fighting with these guys. Everything wasn’t pretty but as a team we got the W and that’s all that matters.”
I wonder what meetings are going to take place this morning at Dove Valley? Would love to be a fly on the wall.
Speaking on Luck. We may have to battle the Colts for him. They looked really pathetic yesterday without Manning, and he is as well as gone.
If Fox won’t even put in Tebow for a goaline situational play he’s not going to put him in at all this season. So I’m not holding my breath for Tebow Time this season.
“We don’t need no cats, we need more dogs..gotta be more like a dog!”
Kiszla: Broncos’ Kyle Orton has lost his credibility with bored fans
http://www.denverpost.com/kiszla/
A must read article. Pretty well sums up everyones feelings I think.
It`s official; The Denver Broncos are now in the sweepsteaks for Stanford QB Andrew Luck.
seweatherman1 good read. Its time to go its not about weather Tebow can or can’t, its about the fact we know orton can’t.
The similarities are glaring between the 2011 Broncos and the 2010 Broncos. I’ve calmed down and have come to the realization that the season results will probably be similar as well. We just need to work on the fundamentals and play competative football and if we lose we lose but we need to stop beating ourselves first. How can be beat the opponent when we’re focused on beating ourselves…as we saw last night we can’t.
Orton still looks like a wooden indian statue. He couldn`t escape from any kind of pressure whatsoever.
Broncos 20 Raiders 23
Official results of the week 1 score prediction contest
In respect for the Broncos and the fans I won’t get overly enthusiatic about the winners this week since it’s customary to keep it kind of low key when the home team loses, and boy did they. So let’s get on with it.
You guys made the calculations real easy on me, 76 entries, 73 picking the Broncos to win and immediately eliminated from placing top 5, see rule #5 / you can’t place when you pick the wrong team to win no matter how close you were to the score, leaving just three predictions to tabulate, thank you, thank you, thank you, LOL.
Here we go, winner of week 1 of the score prediction contest:
raidrhadr 17-24, only 4 total points off the final score, congratulations hadr, you went on a limb with that one in Bronco Country and it served you well. You earn 7 points with that baby!
2nd place
casinoroyal19 17-21, 5 total points off, and the defending champion from last year is starting right where he left off, 4 points for him, well done.
3rd place
Orange_Crusher 17-20, 6 total points off and earning some rare points, 3 of them, felicitations as well funny guy!
And with no one else picking the Raiders to win, that leaves our 4th and 5th place vacant this week.
But we are going to make up for that plenty on our Wall of Shame!
In what turns out to be an all time record we have an incredible 4 guys making their way onto the Wall of Shame this first week!!! No way to separate them, they all had the exact same amount of orange kool aid in their bodies, having the Broncos defeating the Raiders by, not one, not two, but THREE TDs!!! hahahahahahahaha! That will get you on the Wall of Shame anytime when your team ends up losing, LOL.
Wall of Shame week 1:
mex bronco 34-13
true2broncos 34-13
strandfoftds 30-9
CurtOU 31-10
All 4 predicting a 21 point Bronco win and earning themselves each minus 5 points, real tough way to start the season, kind of what the Broncos are going through, it’s gonna be an uphill battle for these guys all the way now. Oh well… a win next week gets you 7 points and you’re two points in the black already, so not all is lost, far from it, it’s just starting, the score competition, not the Broncos chances, LMAO, just kidding, well, maybe…
Hope you had fun for this first week, I know the three winners did, and predictions for the Cinci game are now open until Saturday, midnight blog time deadline, get busy!
That ball slipping out of his hands at are 30 yardline was uncalled for. At the least we should have tied the game there. I swear the fans at Mile High will not show up if they continue to play Orton. We are a bottom of the barrel team after that display last night. Heck, I never seen so many flags in my life.
Also what happened to Prater’s kick on that missed FG, wicked curve ball. Another difference maker in the game.
I have just entered the wall of shame. Sad, sad, day.
OK, I`m over it now, lets move on. LOL
